I tried out a different ROM last night, decided to revert to CM9 via my nandroid backup, but when I select the backup I get a message "MD5 mismatch" and the restore fails. Anyone have an explanation for this?

For the MD5 to match, the folder (and path) has to have EXACTLY the same name as when you created it.
If you can't remember what it was, just redo the MD5.
Thank you. I had changed the folder name and added spaces. Never would have thought that would mess it up. Thanks again.

Pretty much ANYTHING will cause an MD5 mismatch to be thrown. Learned that yesterday
If you have multiple backups and need to rename them you can edit the names with Rom Manager. Its the only way I know of that won't cause MD5 mistmatches. Also some people have success just renaming but without any spaces.

Hey guys, I rooted my phone and immediately made a nand back up. I was on stock ek02 and now I'm on Unnamed 2.01 but for some reason when I try to restore to stock it says md5 mismatch...any ideas?

Did u mess with the file at all? I don't remember how to but there is a way u can give the file a new md5. Your gonna have to search cause I don't remember how.

You can get MD5 fixer from Root Tool Box Pro...Only the pro version though...I hope this helps...

Did you rename the nandroid? If you did and there are any spaces in your new name, that is the issue. Rename the backup again replacing any spaces with "-" or "_" and you should be good to go.
When I try to backup through rom manager it will go through the whole backup then when finished it has a error saying no md5

Each time I do a nandroid backup the last step always fails and I'm forced to create an md5 to restore it. Is this a known issue? I'm tired of having to go to a computer to restore from a new backup

did you tweak anything you weren't supposed to? and i assume you are using clockworkmod recovery, try to install bootmanager from the "Play store" and try backing up through that app.

That's funny you'd link me to that thread, as I responded to it on the first or second page. So if you do a nandroid are you able to restore from it right away?
Edit: thank you for re-linking me to that thread. Deleting that one empty folder solved my issue. I appreciate all the replies. Thanks guys

He CLEARLY stated in the TWRP thread that if you have a nandroid back up with CWM you will NEED to redo your back ups. so i would think that if he made a point to ask people to do that, that the current CWM back ups you have most likely will not work<<<

No never use cwm its back up using TWRP also yeah I saw the option of renaming it when during back up just curious if it will restore with diff name.

only one way to make sure, but i think as long as there are no spaces you should be able to do that......i have never tried though, i have not actually needed to use one of my back ups in SOOO long.

I always rename my back ups. So I know what I'm using when, I need to restore it. Haven't had any problems ever!

I renamed my nandroid folder to the date of the rom it was backing up so I could organize it better. Today, i tried to restore and got a md5 mismatch error. I'm using cm10.1 4/8 nightly. I'm trying to go back to my 3/17 nightly. Thoughts?

You should be able to rename it so long as there are no spaces in the name.
