plz help me out
i am new to htc
I had the same a while ago, I had to flash a stock ruu. Don't worry, your phone ain't dead yet. Search here for stock gingerbread ruu. It's a program which runs on your computer and uses adb/ fastboot to format your phone and install a new os.

Hello everyone,
is the first time post here, so hopefully I can do no wrong place.
I bought a few days ago a HTC Desire and I can not drive with no root, it lists my problems.
- Unrevoked 3.21 hangs at first boot on the menu which has the REBOOT
- If I try with r5-desire-alt-root I receive errors
How can I do?
Thank you for everything
Download HTC sync this will install the drivers needed for your desire then run unrevoked.

People have been experiencing this problem mostly have S-ON but after i rooted with visionary i got S-OFF but i got stuck in Green and white boot screen...anyone know how to fix this,am desparate...
NOTE:
The bootloader screen says S-OFF.
Go to this link and flash the custom PC10IMG by hot_hands in post #33 read the entire thread though, also do not flash a stock PC10IMG what ever you do, or you will be bricked for good. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912399
Note. This is for the tmobile G2.

THANX for the quick reply, but how do i flash without a recovery like clockwork...?
I dont see a link?
Place the CUSTOM PC10IMG on the root of your sd card then power off or pull the battery then hold volume down + power on and it will find the file and flash it automaticlly. File must be named PC10IMG.zip

Currently downloading the zip...just reading the thread while waiting...Hope it works, Thank you for coming to a noods rescue
I was on my phone when I replied so i couldn't see your carrier info, this file was made for the Tmobile G2, I am not sure if it will work for the Desire Z. Did you see my note in my first reply.
For the Desire Z I believe they have the RUU's for whatever version you had running on your phone
It still worked...THANX A MILLION{",}

It'll work, but it will also flash the G2-specific engineering HBOOT as opposed to the Desire Z one. Not sure there will be any adverse effects, but in case you weren't aware, the Desire Z does have slightly different partitioning than the G2.
Hi everyone... i was using strawmetal's downgrade pdf guide and successfully managed to downgrade my htc desire z to froyo(earlier it was gingerbread)
it also shows hows to permanently root the htc desire z.. i followed the guide to the point and after checking the md5-3 matches md5-2.... i typed in # reboot
now instead of enjoying my freshly rooted htc desire z ... am stuck at the welcome screen...the white with the green htc...
i ve seen the forum n yes there are xplainations of how to go about saving ur phone...
my query is a lil different ...
see , we did everything correctly ..so am sure we shud be able to start the phone with out losing the permanent root and all the other hardwork... i also installed the recovery clockwork ....
somebody show me the way .....
try flashing rom of choice from recovery
First off, Visionary is known to fail frequently which is why it is not recommended to use.
That aside, try flashing a new recovery via fastboot as some versions of CWM are known to hang on the HTC screen.

Did you miss the sticky about how Visionary known to brick phones (especially since it's a very outdated method now).
Hello,
I just purchased a HTC Desire and found it came with a RUU 2.32.466.1 including arabic utilities. In addition to this the marketplace is missing.
I would like to downgrade to a WWE so that is the same as my other desire.
I have spent considerable time looking at this and even tried the downgrade tool on this forum without much success.
If someone could either help me out with the downgrade or point me in the right direction to get the marketplace installed.
As a note I have performed a number of factory resets also with no success.
Edit: The phone is unrooted
You can try downloading the googleapps.zip (links in the forum), copy to sim card root, and boot into recovery and try flashing it. This will install all google apps.
Don't think you need to root for this.
But with the arabic utilities, not quite sure.
The gapps zip won't work on a unrooted phone. You need to run the Ruu in Windows, probably with goldcard.

So the only other way, would be to download googleapps.apk, and use the android sdk to install it?
http://www.brighthub.com/mobile/google-android/articles/37151.aspx
Never used this method though.
And to download to a lower version RUU, definately make a gold card. And if I remember correctly, use HTC Sync?
Don't think marked works on data partition. But it might.

Help Needed
I have Desire with GingerSense RCMix S v8. I want to S-Off but have to get back to stock RUU, but when I try to downgrade always gives error 130 Device ID... What to do abt that?
I have tried an earlier ruu but it won't let me continue because the current ruu is a "newer" version. How can I trick the phone that I'm running an old version.
Cheers
Ok so I need help rooting my branded HTC desire running 2.2
I'm not a fan of the gold card method and I have been trying unrEVOked to no avail.
I have uninstalled HTC sense and any program that may interfere with my HTC when in boot loader.
My phone will lose communication with my computer when trying to ready hboot.
I'm at my wits end. HELP
Thanks

I think you should put this on the HTC Desire forum i have one before and unrevoked works for me.
Read threads in QA or stickies in Development forum.
It's still a driver issue..
One sure shot method is to do this in linux. Or install a second copy of windows as multi boot. In it install htc software, uninstall htc sync leaving the drivers behind. Install unrevoked driver in hboot mode, then retry unrevoked
Sorry for the long delay in a reply. Yes it was a driver issue but I have rooted my phone and now I'm running cyanogen mod 7
Thanks for your help

Hello all, I have a question and im slightly worried as i think i may have bricked my beloved G2.
I had Ice Cream JIBwich installed, and I wanted to install the Desire Z bootloader to get some HTC Sense roms on my phone to try them out.
I installed it following the directions of a video i watched, however my HBOOT still says VISION and i cant backup my ROM.
All I see is the HTC logo in green with a white background, and its not booting up.
Help please!
still have s-off? once you change your bootloader you must then flash a new rom
if recovery disappeared then you must use fastboot to flash a new one.
so long as you have s-off you can flash a new rom from fastboot too.
Vision is the code name for BOTH the g2 and dz, so it saying vision is a good thing.
It won't boot because the g2 and dz partitions are slightly different, so the phone is now looking in the wrong place to try boot the rom
-Nipqer
reflash a rom
