Well, the Voda update has finally arrived in the UK, and it is .13 rather than .11 so I'm pleased and slightly surprised. Surely we were waiting for.11?
just updated my phone does anyone have any idea what has changed with this software upgrade.
What's the kernel number please?
2.6.39.4-g1389c4c
[email protected]#1
The kernel does not seem updated since the build .11
That's a shame - I was hoping that after all this time, we were now ahead of the game. Surely there needs to be some difference, though?
It's just due to the release being so long after the unbranded release - another carrier recently got 1.29.751.12 but it's no different
Ah, okay. Tsk.
So, the only thing I need to do with this update is leave the display on at full brightness for a few hours to recalibrate the display and stop the flicker?
that speeds up the process, it'll still happen at regular brightness

What's the baseband number on this one please?
Baseband is: 1.1204.105.14
Anything new there?
Nope, same as .11 - as expected
Unbranded handsets will get new updates before branded ones
@ Vodafone Austria
I also got the .13 Update:

Just updated! Finally, it's been about time.
Got my missing as card space back and lag after unlocking the phone is gone, hopefully battery life gets a bit of a bump, so far so good tho
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Also French Vodafone ( SFR ) has push the 1.29.163.13 update. No changes in comparation with .11
P.S. Sorry for my bad english.
The last number (x.xx.xxx.11) cannot be compared between regions/branded. Certainly it varied between regional/branded versions before 1.29, so it being 13 is hardly surprising.
i received the update also, but it downloads then when it tries to install it just restarts the phone, also i cant factory reset the phone. can anybody help please?
Finally managed to update mine too. Now to check for screen flicker and Gps fix.

Finally unlocked my EVO - a BIG thanks to the writer(s) of the 1-2-3 easy root software! Your persistence and ingenuity is absolutely amazing !!!
I have one question that may have been already answered but for the life of me I cannot find a straight answer to it.
I live in Los Angeles and the phone keeps warning me that 4G is available but it never actually connects.
I have heard that using a specific radio version will solve this problem but cant find any more info on which version that is, where I can download it and how can i install it.
If any of you Android Gods could light the way for me, I would greatly appreciate it!

Just noticed all my speedtest were connecting to NJ servers instead of boston. Switched to boston one and got better ping and speeds. Upload seems the same seems to be capped at 1Mbs

If it were only as simple as picking the right radio. Welcome to the maze that is finding the correct order of operations, fixes, hacks, etc that leads to functional 4g on a rooted EVO. Enjoy your stay!
I was thinking about flashing a new radio, and wanted to see what the options were and what the benefits are, if any. Or if I am just so addicted to flashing stuff on my phone that I want to be one of the cool kids with a newly flashed radio...
different radios give better signal/speed in different areas. What works great in town x may not work as good in town y and Visa Versa......
IMO, if you are going to use a gingy rom, use the latest radio file .07.07. Don't bother using anything else.

That is this person's opinion. Test each radio to see what works best for you. It all depends on how close you are to towers, and how the radios are configured. The only way to see what works best is to test them all out.
PS: This should have been posted in Q&A.
the radio mods are listed in the first sticky in the dev forum, the link works too.

I been using 08.08 and I have travel to 5 different states in the last weeks and is working perfect for me excellent signal, data speed

older radios could still be a choice, fur example 7.28 worked the best for me compared to the newer and evo versions. I couldn't get into the -70ish dBm range until I came across 7.28
What about if im from Iusacell Mexico..... i shouldnt flash other radio thank the stock that i have? thanks!

No reason to be, check the MD5 and follow the steps and your set, if you can use revoked to root the phone updating the radio is easy.

Yes. I have a GSM version of the GNEX here in Canada and am running s custom 4.0.3 ROM and my signal does this ALL THE DAMN TIME!!!
I have flashed several radios and none fix the issue. The only thing that seems to work is either going back to the STOCK 4.0.1 ROM that came with my device or to flash the Android Revolution HD ROM which is based on 4.0.2. On that ROM I dont lose signal.
I am getting quite frustrated about this issue too. I have posted many time in various threads looking for answers and NO ONE seems to have any idea about this which I find weird as I have seen countless others with the same issues as I describe.
I had similar issues with my N1, and it turned out to be related to the older SIM card I had. You may want to consider a new SIM...

Thanks for the reply. I have a new thread open to try and generalize these issues more clearly. Please see here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487239
Also... I have 2 different SIM cards from my provider and one is a bit old (but works just fine in my SGSII) and one is new with a different number and this happens with BOTH SIM cards.
Again, please see the thread I have linked here for more info.
Hey guys,
so yesterday i FINALLY flashed the 4.0.2 yakju factory image because i was just sick and tired of waiting for updates (was on yakjuxw 4.0.2 before).
I flashed the .2 instead of the .4 because i wanted to see if i actually do receive updates faster but that has nothing to do with this thread (didnt get .4 OTA yet btw).
So what i noticed with the stock yakju build is that i just get like half an hour mor battery life than on the yajuxw build.
On yakjuxw i got like max 3 hours screen on time if i was lucky.
Now i got more than 3,5 hours screen on time with actually playing much angry birds bubble shoot etc., browsing and xda app.
If yakju really gets more battery life that would be one more major reason to go for it if you're on yakjuxw!
Here are the screenshots on the yakju build (everything stock), sorry i dont have screenshots of the yakjuxw build...

try 4.0.4 . with that one I've got around 4:25 hours of screen on time!
Would be cool... but it seems like i just won't get the OTA
Why don't you just flash a factory image from the Google site. They already released the factory image of 4.0.4 there.

nothing special, wi-fi always on, /airplane mode at night, sync always enabled. automatic brightness
Hi all,
I live in countryside with an average 4G coverage, and since july update my phone is more often connected on B20 band, whereas it was almost always on B3 band before.
This results in better signal strength and stability
So I think there was an improvement in signal management (But I guess it shall be less noticable in urban places)
Did someone else notice this ?
