I dont think no ones tried it, you should just root using the method in the dev section.

I think you can flash kernels with it.

No it wouldn't work mate, a recovery or IMG flasher must run on a different and seperate partition in order to flash kernals directly from the phone

I don't think you can download the playstation apps with custom software. I think you need stock 2.3.4. Can anyone verify?
CM7 does not use any of the Sony software that is necessary to the PlayStation store. You must be on a rom that is SE based. CM7 will not work with the touchpads either
Sent from my R800x using xda premium
Might explain it lol
I'm pretty certain that it was still there after I flashed CM7 though :S
I can still access the Crash Bandicoot game and play it though....
Guess I'll just use fpse instead
Thanks for the help anyway guys

fastboot flashes the file to the phone
hotboot loads the kernel once only.

So hotboot would be useful to boot a kernel that has a recovery built in?

Yes, that is what it is used for a lot, guessing you still need a unlocked Bootloader though, unsure tbh

Post in the right section. questions goes in to Q/A section. Read rules before posting.
Absolutely NO, locked bootloader's always stuck with the default kernel.
Technically yes. But only from official firmware ftf files and using flashtool

you'll get bootloop if you install custom kernels

Hi,
I m new to the forums.
I have a sony xperia s with a locked bootloader but has been rooted.
i have cwm installed on it and currently have XZXperiance_2 installed.
I would like to go back to the offical ICS 4.0.4 Rom.
The phone says it is still logged as 4.0.4 but with different system on it.
I would like to go back to the origional system because of the official JB Update in the next few weeks.
If some could help me step by step it would be much help =]
I have set it back to factory settings but doesnt go back to the origional system i dont think i backed up the old system =[
Any help would be much appriciatted,
Many Thanks
Dan
Use flashtool from development part of Xperia s forum.
Download it, instal drivers, download ICS 4.0.4 generic world and flash it via flashtool.
