[Q] Tegrak Kernel - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've noticed some Tegrak kernel builds for other galaxy phones, but not for the Galaxy Nexus-GSM or CDMA. I rather like Tegrak's CPU clock, and I would love to take advantage of a kernel, but I can't seem to find one for my phone.
Has anyone seen it somewhere (if it's available)? Or am I out of luck?

No there's no tegrak kernel but you can overclock any other kernel available.

Darn...
Oh well. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I appreciate it

try the trinity kernel

Will do
Thanks, simms22. Haven't looked into that one yet. How's the battery life?

[Q] Stock Kernel only with UV enabled

I've seen many custom kernels cooking for GN, yet, what if i am fine with stock kernel but only want the ability to UV? is there any kernel or app like Tegrak for GS2 which only enables OC /UV for the beloved GN? thx.
Honestly flash Franco's kernel its not hard and relatively safe* you won't find a stock kernel with uv

I dont think you should be using Franco's kernel. Afaik it is only for those on 4.0.3 Roms. To the OP, I can vouch for.the Jame Bond kernel. Have been using it for a week and a half and havent had any issues. Undervolting seemed to help my battery life quite a bit.
Thanks for the heads up on this kernel. I've been meaning to ask the same question. Franco's kernel is awesome, but all of the 4.0.3 ROMs are just to harsh on battery for the increase in speed. It's a noticeable performance boost, but I'm not quite willing to sacrifice 2x the battery life. There's a reason there isn't official 2.0.3 yet.
Disclaimer, that is NOT a knock on our developers. The inherent issues with 4.0.3 aren't their faults. All of the 4.0.3 ROMs that I've tried have been really, really slick

I've used 4.0.3 on AOKP this whole time and never have any problems with battery. Although your milage may vary, I have the GSM variant of it. Did you try updating the bootloader as well (PRIMEKL01)?
I'm on Verizon and there is a BIG difference between GSM and LTE on 4.0.3.
The notion that a bootloader increases battery life is also really, really silly.
according to suggestion, I've tried JameBond 1.2mhz with 307GPU, just undervolted with recommended settings, the screen on time seems to be improved!

[Q]Which Kernel are you using?

Hello All!
I made a similar thread to this over at the SGSII forums and was wondering what your answers are. So, the question is simple, which Kernel are you using and is the battery decent? Or a pile of rubbish? Lemme know. Poll has been setup with the main Kernels, I'll put an "other" option for people who are using new Kernels.
So, poll away!

was using James Bond kernel 1.35 OC UV, never crash or lag. far better battery life than stock and super smooth.
right now i am testing faux123's kernel V9u for 4.0.2.

I tried Faux 4.0.3 Kernel yesterday, battery was losing 2% every 30 mins on idle, with next to 0 apps installed.
Running Stock AOKP Milestone 2 kernel, whichever kernel that is!
I wanna try different kernel but my ROM is perfect, not sure sure what other kernels may add that my rom already has and does.

As far as features go, Franco.Kernel adds color and vibrance to your screen. Its also tweakable so you can customize the color settings as you please. Battery is apparently awful though.

I am sort of noticing that battery life isn't so great too, although I wasn't sure since I haven't been running it for very long.
I was also looking for the best kernel.
Everybody talks about franco.Kernel. I will give it a try though.
Was using Franco's until earlier and now back to the Apex kernel that comes with bigxie's AOSP build
Eh? Franco kernel has the best battery life for me.

I just loaded on Lean kernel yesterday. Initial indications are that the battery life is extremely good.
180mhz cpu while screen off = happy battery.
Giving glaDOS a try.. it has some cool features like turn the screen on by touching it.. also has color control and battery life seems pretty decent so far. Big fan of imoseyon though.

I'm currently on Bigxie Build 8 with the Kernel included with it. Battery is pretty good. Underclocked my CPU to 970MHz. Losing 2% battery overnight (About 8 hours) and High usage I'm getting a decent amount of battery.
I'm wondering: I'm running ARHD 2.1.3 and thinking about flashing a kernel. Franco's had more options, but I'm getting that Jame Bonds kernel has a better battery life. That appeals to me. edit: ah, I see that Franco's is only for 4.0.3
Still, when I flash the kernel with ARHD 2.1.3 running, is it better to flash the anykernel.zip or should I just flash the original kernel?
Argh, just in the fun, looking for the best kernel. I'm between Franco's and Der Kernel Trinity NP (by the way, NP, Google, don't let Samsung impose it's boring naming system)
Trinity offers 512OC for the GPU, but I'd say Franco gives a better battery life....
Hmmmm difficult decision, isn't it? What do you guys think?
Currently rocking the Trinity kernel with mildly OC'd GPU (384 MHz).
I'm using imoseyon's kernel. I love minimalist kernels. Stable, fast, and not full of crapfeatures that just cause everything to crash and SOD and bootloop.
I think it's probably a good idea to give a try first of the kernel that comes with the ROM. Developers often adjust the ROM around the kernel they use and vice versa.
i went back to the James Bond kernel, no reboot or lag.
Lean IMO

Kernels and your preferences

Alright, pointless gathering of information time! How many of you strictly flash a different kernel after a ROM flash? For example, I'm using liq*id 1.5 which comes with Franco kernel bundled with it. Now, I'm sure a large percentage here may agree, the guys have built a nice stable ROM and know what they are doing, likewise Franco is a dependable dev with a solid kernel.
On paper it sounds like a match made in heaven as they both have plenty of experience and i'm sure the liq*id devs chose it for a reason. However, I always go back to Trinity after about 20 mins. Am I a sucker for placebo effects? Does anyone else religiously go back to a preferred kernel despite the knowledge that most bundled kernels SHOULD/POSSIBLY give the best user experience?
TL;DR do you use a kernel most the time because you BELIEVE it will give you the best experience, or do you give bundled kernels a good run first?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
i dont know.. in my experience custom kernels have usually been better than bundled kernels, with cm being an exemption since the cm kernel is very important to cyanogen. on most the other roms, most of the developers really focus most their attention to the rom. anyways, i will usually run/try all the kernels(need to know what is out there and how it compares to trinity), but always go back to trinity since that where my heart lays, and home is where the heart is
Through some sort of sorcery and probably placebo, I've always noticed best results when I use a kernel that has its own ramdisk.
I'm not much for bundled kernels. I know what kernels work for me and how they work by trying them all out.
Currently, GLaDOS kernel is the one that acts best for me.
Franco Kernel... it's what I'm used to and I haven't had any problems with it so why change? plus.. I bought his app, so I'm dedicated to it.
And no I don't use bundled kernels. Just because the kernel comes with the ROM doesn't mean its optimal for that particular ROM. But it may come with ROM settings that are for that kernel (such as AOKP and "GNParts")

If you want to use AOKP 4.2.1 which is MR1 build 1 I suggest just upgrading the kernel they chose to go with...It wtill has some battery issues but if helped at least 30%
I use CM 10.1 with the CM 10.1 kernel. Best combo for me and my usage pattern
I don't use bundled kernels either!Last 3 months using AK Purity Kernel and it's really solid and does the job perfect!
I've been running CM 10.1 with the Air Kernel. Its been working great for me so far.

[Q] Overclock kernel

Hey guys I been searching, and I am not sure which overclock kernel would work for me. I am currently running LD50 from Team Venum on my Sprint E4GT, but I am thinking about switching over to CM9. Maybe CM10, but I dunno if I want to deal with the Jelly Bean not supporting flash. I like flash. Anywho what would be a good overclock kernel? I been running into a bunch. I generally leave the phone at the 1200 mark, but I like the option that I can if I want to bump the go power. I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721235 but it's saying that it's a custom built kernel from the Skyrocket. this is why I am asking. I want to overclock my phone. I want it for bragging rights, but I don't want to have a paperweight. That's what the iPhone's are good for! Anyone willing to help?

Unfortunately I don't know that we really have any options for JB at this point. The included kernel is what you'll have to use.
I can tell you however using the kernel you referenced will guarantee you a brick.
The only overclockable kernels for the et4g are for GB and maybe TWiz ICS, there's only one JB kernel and its sbrissens which is included in all JB roms. All the aosp ICS kernels aren't overclockable since their goal is official CM support. JB supports flash, you just have to sideload the apk from adobe. Overclocking doesn't make a damn bit of difference on this device, it will actually lower your quadrant score because its designed to run at the factory clock speed and the I/O scheduler and OOM groupings are setup to work with the stock speed, when overclocking it throws everything off causing a large drop in I/O, and graphics scores.
We are legion, for we are many.

Overclock and undervolt kernel for CM Stable 10.1.3?

Hi,
Just got a used Epic 4g today and have a question for you seasoned vets.
I've decided to run CM 10.1.3 stable since it seems like a fairly solid, well supported ROM. Can any of you recommend a custom kernel to go along with it? I'd like to be able to play around with overclocking, undervolting, or even some more governors,
Thanks.
Honestly, I've had nothing but good experience using the kernel that ships with CM 10.1 (on two Epics used by two different people). I never felt like I needed to find a different one. What are you hoping to gain from a new kernel? Just curious...

With the stock kernel, I don't see any voltage adjustment options nor any overclocking options. I'd like to have those.

Fair enough. Yeah, stock CM 10.1 only allows you to adjust the clock speed *down* (from what I can see in the performance menu). I'm afraid I'm no help with the custom kernel scene, so best of luck to you. I'll let someone else comment on that if they feel so inclined.

Nitest/Nutest probably have those (look around in the dev forum). Do note that Epic 4G is an old device with decreasing support, so Nitest/Nutest is pretty much the only custom kernel for AOSP ROMs.

Thanks for your response. This device is old, but it has far better community support than my Droid Pro ever did.
