Can't we swtich T989 to T989D (Stock) ROM? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hello
I use T989 in south korea.
And I heard that Telus T989D get ICS upgrade and get ICS tar.md5 burn to my T989 via Odin 1.85.
But always fail(stuck) when amss.bin download.
T989 GingerBread / T989D GingerBread / T989D ICS all STOCK ROM
(Refer the include picture)

So I change to Telus GingerBread STOCK tar.md5 to my T989 and it was failed too when amss.bin.
Finally i think that T989 device can't swap to T989D stock rom.
Can't we change STOCK ROM Swap t989 and t989d?
Just only system partition compatible?
I can try ODIN in "re-partition" function, but i CAN'T expect successful.

Thanks For Information!!
I tried wipe cache/factory reset after burn to T989 ZIP and radio and it was successful running ICS on my T989 device.

Awesome to hear. Let me know if you are having an issue with any compass apps. For some reason some people (myself included) can't get the compass to register correct readings. Thanks.

Going crazy here...
I've used CWM to flash both:
'Telus_SGH-T989DTLLE4_Stock_Rooted.zip' and 'SGH-...LLE4_radio.zip'
However, when I launch KIES I still get
"Your device does not support software upgrading via KIES" message.
Any ideas?

Flashing the ROM and radio provides you with the upgrade. There is no need to upgrade via Kies if you used this method.

Finally worked... kept freezing, I toggled signature to Enabled and it finally booted
Thanks!

3.0.8-gaaa2611. that's my kernel version. I haven't install Kernel updates here. What do you mean by stock camera? <pardon for the noob question> My phone is already rooted/unlocked.
What were your instructions for rooting? (Assuming you weren't rooted before you posted this)
Your root method may have wiped everything

No, i'm using gallimaufry. I'm surprised too, I didn't expect such a high score
Check my sig to make sure you're installing the roms correctly.
Post two will detail it.
A "stock" camera is the camera that comes pre-installed. Not one from the play store.
I'm on AOKP, and can confirm no such issue.
I think my camera started malfunctioning <didn't save images/videos> when I wipe data due to I forgot my screen lock pattern <yes, I forgot! WTH>. Then, I flash AOKP b29 to see if it will solved my dilemma but it didn't. Last resort was, flash original stock ROM from Google website. Now, I am back to stock ROM.
@Jubakuba: I follow your procedure before, but when I tried to re-install Titanium Backup <free> to restore apps, it didn't succeed and prompts error which is something like code:32.

Replacement GNex loosing cell service with screen off

On Thursday, I dropped and broke my original phone. Luckily, I had a full CWM backup (CM9) created that morning. I pulled the entire /sdcard partition off the phone and onto a laptop.
When my replacement showed up yesterday from Asurion, I rooted it using the GNex tool, copied all the data back onto the new phone, then flashed the backup.'
Everything works great, almost seems a bit faster even. But now I am dropping calls and loosing service all the time. The cell radio seems to be turning off with the screen after a while, but will also seem to turn off randomly.
I just updated to the latest CM9 build attempting to fix the problem, but it didn't seem to help.

I'm on verizon. My first 2 GNs dropped calls a lot (not like a screen off issue), but losing 4g like every 10 minutes. My 3rd nexus holds all signals steady, so you may try to ask for another replacement again.

Your flashing a radio file not a ROM, which is non dependent of the ROM you are running. You can find the official IMM76I radio file here http://rootzwiki.com/topic/12866-vzwfastboot-radiosbootloadersrecoveries-updated-may-1-2012/ which is flashable using clockwork recovery.

[Q] Lost 3g after flashing ROM

Hello,
I'm a n00b to this whole ROM thing. My first flash went pretty well and I love the ROM I'm using, but I seemed to have lost the option to use 3G. The ROM I flashed is the Carbon JB 4.2.2 ROM from April 5th. I've been doing some research on the site and the only thing I've found is that maybe I need to flash a new Kernel or Modem unless of course it's a problem with the ROM itself. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Get off the jellybean modems. You can only use ICS OR GingerBread modems with AOSP JB ROMs like yours. Also update profile and prl. And also read.

Sorry for being a noob guys lol. Thanks for your help though... I'll flash a recommended modem and see how it goes.

[GUIDE] 4.1.1 How to get you device running any ATT Stock rom without any problems

ok, most of you might think what is this good for, i like to have the arabic language on a samsung rom, not a cyangenmod rom or anything like that ,
this is also good for many languages. SCREENSHOTS OF LANGUAGES BELOW, and its good for you people who have switched from att to t-mobile, and want better service,
i live in iraq. so i dont use either, so lets start on how this works , we will be using I747UCDLK3 rom for this tutorial, because its the only rom i have tested

A ROOTED T-MOBILE T999
MOBILE ODIN PRO
THE I747UCDLK3 ATT STOCK PREROOTED ROM
AND THE UVLJA MODEM FOR T-MOBILE
Language Enabler by Wanam
How to
step 1: move the att rom to the internal sd card
step 2: open mobile odin, and download needed files from the app. then choose "open file" choose the rom tar.
step 3: press flash firmware then and all wipes
step 4: after it boots up you will have no imei, not to worry, open mobile odin and this time choose "OTA / Update zip" and choose our downloaded modem, then flash with no wipes
step 5: then after it boots up install Language Enabler, and press menu and choose save after granting root rights
step 6: enjoy

This is cool. But why not just flashing any att rom and just changed the build.prop from d2att to d2tmo? I have done it multiple times with no issues and flashed em out of the box

AT&T Galaxy S3 is the same 99% hardware than the T-Mobile Galaxy S3. Same as the Sprint and Verizon S3's.
Porting CDMA Galaxy s3 needs to do more work other wise you will have bugs but it will still boot.
But its been done several times and like I said I have flash several TW roms to my T-Mobile S3 out of the box with no problems at all.
i concur.... but thanks for sharing.
anytime
Besides bro, flashing a rom doesn't change ur modem, unless it's included in the rom zip and devs don't do that unless it's a firmware update for that particular carrier and comes with it. Most separate rom from modem even then..but thanks for trying to contribute to us all
