I try to install a rom to my gio Arab SOFTWARE with odin
I Placed the file in place and followed the dirictive soignesement but I have individual contact with a large problem in Odin (software) last a few times (10 immunity)
I removed the cable immediately
after I see that my galaxy gio is displayed on a black screen (a partable racordeé with them a computer and an exclamation mark (!))
I await your reply please.
It is a bad idea to disconnect the cable while flashing.
The Gio connected to a computer with the exclamation mark means something went wrong with the flash, but you should still have access to download mode.
P.S. Google Translate did not do a very good job translating from French to English in your post. I replied with that I managed to understand.
Let Odin first do his whole job, I should bring it to factory if it doesn't react on anythinh

Hi all,
i just bricked my Galaxy Gio... i installed Rom Manager, downloaded CWM Recovery 4.0.1.5 which according to this:
http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager
page is the version to use with the Gio. After flashing CWM Recovery I turned the phone off.
Now my phone is _completely_ bricked... it doesn't respond to any input at all, it doesn't respond to my pushings of the on/off button.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
Flash stock with odin, plus there was a thread to not to flash cwm from rom manager.

Odin won't detect it... I guess I'll have to turn it in to my operator.

I found this:
http://androidflip.com/unbrick-samsung-android-phones-click-guide/
in a thread here... trying it now...
It seems that the phone is bricked permanently... it won't even go into download mode... :'(
Look for unbricking tutorial thread in
The Android Development section here by Peteragent5. There is a soultion to unbrick gio. And if you ever want to flash CWM, flash it from stock recovery (press home and power button at the same time when phone is off)

everyone! Its no use, you have to bring it back, say that you dropped it or something, they repaired mine for free
Sent from my good ol’ Gio
Give it to the service guarantees if you have
Say that when you update your phone software Kies is disabled and will not turn on
The program you probably burned RomManager Memory Storage Capacity
So for anything they should not come
A Kies as it gets updated Boot can load anything so as to disconnect the phone is dead
Perhaps exchange the motherboard and that's all

Thanks...
...for your commitment folks, i really appreciate it.
I turned the phone in to 3 today, they will probably have to replace the motherboard as Rom Manager seems to have... messed it up bigtime.
Hopefully they won't charge me much for this though in the reparation log it says:
Warranty: None
Insurance: None
I got the phone just a few months ago when changing mobile operator to 3... i'm really happy with the phone, just have to fully understand that in the Android world your not quite as protected as in the realm of iOS – for better and worse.

Man, try to send it for service. A friend of mine melted his cellphone motherboard just by installing a ROM with RomManager. Don't use RM anymore, it doesn't always work properly and sometimes may cause really BIG problems..

download Check FUS - download the firmware - use ODIN to flash. Kies is ****.. and dont post in multiple threads - do some research.
I had a similar problem...the error screen said something like "firmware installation encountered a problem...". I believe even though that looks like a frozen out screen, you can still use Odin to either flash back to GB or flash the new ICS zip. I am by no means an expert, so do your research. My point is that i, too, thought I was bricked, and there is a way to work around it.

Yeah if you your moms phone is messed up then you got 2 options
1 flash the rom with odin or 2 return it with the warranty... I recommend you try option 1 first ... there are multiple threads on here that will explain how its done
I like my Roms the way I like my women..... Clean and smooth

Mine had the same problem after I tried to root it and it failed. It says "firmware installation encountered a problem" on the screen.
Solution that worked for me was:
1) Start the Kies program.
2) Under Tools at the top left go to Firmware Upgrade and Initilization and it will open up a pop up box asking you for the serial number and model number of your phone.
3) Take out the battery and look at serial number of your phone and model number (SGH-T989) and type it in the S/N and Model Name slots.
4) Put the battery back in and press both the up and down volume and insert the micro usb attached to your computer. Your phone will turn on and see that "firmware installation encountered a problem" on your phone again.
5) Now press enter on your computer and Kies will download ICS and reinstall it to your phone. You might see a couple pop ups asking you to install a Samsung program and just click yes to it (I'm using Win 7 64bit).
Good Luck.
if the previous posters solution does not work.. then try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705565
it will give you stock ICS on you T989
there are also great youtube vides by someone called zedomax that will show you step by step how to use odin.. it's very easy actually.
just make sure that in odin the only option that is checked is Auto reboot
the click on PDA find the file in the above link.. then press start
Here guy set for the bashers makes xda look bad but use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513359 all I need is Odin and stock .tar the ics one is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705565. But just so you know use the search button so I don't get all the BS.

Ok, so I had my Samsung Galaxy Gio rooted for a loong time, no problems at all...I decided to download the app called "ROM manager"...that was the most stupid idea ever... I chose a model, the first one on the list, wich I cant remember the name, and I selected, after it downloaded the Clockworkmod, I pressed To "Fix" something, auto app shuts, etc... Then it asked me to restart my device, as soon as I did that, my phone "died/bricked"
I CANT START IT IN RECOVERY/DOWNLOAD MODE
I already tried takinf out the battery and replacing it, I kinda tried the Odin process, but imma noob at these things...
I guess my phone is hard-bricked...
If there is no solution but sending it to Samsung, will they charge anything for the repair (im on portugal...)
PLEASE, SOMEONE SAVE MY PHONE'S SOUL!
too bad, theres nothing you can do..
you just need a bit of luck that samsung will fix it for free, I think they need to replace the motherboard
It happened to me this....they fixed it for free to me.Good luck with u too

:good::good::good::good::good::good::good:
Do make sure that you're computer can actually communicating to your phone. Have you installed the necessary usb drivers? If you did, you can check if the cable still works fine. Normally, Odin should respond accordingly if communication between the two have been established.

- what rom are you flashing (write the full name including the extension)
- make sure u choose ancora.ops as ur ops
- make sure that odin is reading ur phone (it shall be obvious when it tells u which COM is plugged and its better to blug it to a usb port thats attached directly to the motherboard not through a connection)
- make sure ur really in download mode
press thanks if i help you

1. have you enable USB debugging before entering download mode?
2. UNTICK reset time. Sometimes i experince longer than 300 sec but TICK Auto-reboot
Make sure that your cable is connected directly to the motherboard if using a desktop machine and not use the front connectors
