I thought I'd give back in a small way, at least for Exchange users/sufferers. Here are Email.apk and Exchange.apk, hacked to not request Admin privileges, and compiled against CM9/epicmtd codebase. This means you don NOT have to use a secure lock screen and can therefore use the new lock screen features of CM9. I've tried other such replacements, but they no longer work with latest CM9
here are download links:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19884731/Email.apk
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19884731/Exchange.apk
You just need to replace the same apks in /system/app, and permission both to 644, or RW-R-R, like all the other /system/app apks. If they are no permissioned properly they won't work. The easiest way to do this is with Root Explorer, or perhaps some free variant. It's best to delete before replacing, otherwise the service may (harmlessly) crash on you. Finally, reboot the phone.
WARNING: You will have to re-setup your Exchange account. If you do not know your setup info, wait until you do to do this.
When you do re-setup the account it will warn you that permissions are required, then won't do anything about it. Also, you will have to do this every time you flash a new CM9.

This is a policy patcher that will do the same
So it can be used on any ROM! Neat huh?
I wish I knew about this before I hacked! Definitely the best solution.

Funny we keep ending up on the same threads. I did darkies post above and it worked pretty good on CM9.1. I forgot to allow root for adb so it was slightly more complicated for me and I had to manually mount /system as rw. I think setting the root adb access (settings -> developer) would have made it work right. I just did it 2 days ago.

No, because you have not given Exchange service admin rights.
Also, I just wanted to mention that these apks work with CM9 only. The patching script that darkierawr referenced above works great for CM10.

Go into build.prop and change these values:
ro.product.model=
ro.product.device=
to both equal this: GT-I9300
This makes your phone look like the Sprint galaxy nexus.
Reboot your phone and try to open wallet!
You may have to clear google wallet settings, I had to uninstall wallet and reinstall it after the build.prop change.
Hit the thanks button if this helped!

The reason I tried this is because I heard Google temporarily blocked the HTC EVO 4G LTE from accessing Google Wallet. I don't know the exact reason why, but this seems to work at least for now.

I did what you suggested and it activated, and my $100.21 was still in the prepaid card no problem. Here's EXACTLY what I did to keep out of the unsupported device also:
EDIT: REQUIRES ROOT ACCESS (but not HTC UNLOCK, which I do not have)
-Enable SuperSU
-Use ES File Explorer for root explorer (Settings->Root Explorer, give Superuser permission when asked) -> Mount File System (writable)
-Edit build.prop in /system folder as described above (make a backup also so you can revert after activation!)
-Disable root explorer in ES File Explorer
-Disable SuperSU in SuperSU settings
-Clear data for Wallet in Settings->Apps
-Reboot
-Open Wallet, log in
-Add prepaid card
-Close Wallet
-Go to Android Settings->Apps->Downloaded->Wallet and force stop (hoping to keep it from knowing about the next step which is enable SuperSU to revert build.prop and keep away unsupported device message.)
-Enable SuperSU
-ES File Explorer -> Root Explorer -> Mount System
-In /system folder replace build.prop with the backup I made (or just undo the changes manually if you like.)
-Disable Root Explorer
-Disable SuperSU
-Reboot
-Open Wallet and verify operation
-Profit!
Sorry if this is jumbled, have to get to work but excited that it is fixed and hopefully by reverting build.prop no strange behavior will result!
Thanks again jkt97401!

It has to be rw-r--r if you are manually pushing it. If its not Android will go F*$K THAT! And then it won't run. It may work with the extra permission set. I has to be 644 or 755

The permissions being set tell android that it is ok to run an app. If the permissions are not set right it simply wont run, install, or show up at all. Android will say no.

That's weird because after installing by default permission was:
rwxrwxr-x
I checked, it was running fine no problem...
I just changed it to rw-r--r
Now, rwx = read/write/execute
So giving an app more accessibility I figured only let it do more not less?
Btw, I'm not saying your wrong, since this is the first time manually fixing permission, I'm trying to understand it...
It is working great. Thanks.

This is the first thing I've ever done to customize my android. I got the idea after looking at Bleached45's posts as well as just generally being disgusted with the default options. This pack does not include extra conversation skins, it replaces the stock conversation skins. So be sure to keep a backup of your old LGUSMms.apk incase you want to go back.
INSTRUCTIONS
I shall not be held liable for any damage you do to your phone. I made these conversation skins for myself and I am sharing them as a courtesy to the forum that gave me the knowledge and means to create them. Back your stuff up and all that common sense rhetoric every disclaimer feeds you.
1.) Kill your messenger via stop process.
2.) Use a root browser with all permissions and go to your root directory>system>app, cut your LGUSMms.apk to a safe location
3.) Paste the apk you downloaded from my link into root>system>app and then change permissions to rw-r--r--
4.) Reboot phone
5.) I don't know if it's just my phone or the ES file browser I'm using, but it would sometimes take me several tries to successfully paste this into the apps folder. I went through some disconnecting from media sync and just the old "click this thing in there as many times and ways as possible until it works." - and it works eventually.
What would happen if I just replace this one with the one that comes with the phone?

divide by 0 and you should be set lol. are you saying to just not save youre old one? you could do that but if something goes wrong you wouldnt have a back and would have to ask someone to pull it from their phone. it more for safety then it is a necessity.

This works great . And my phone is just rooted too
thanks for the skins! The only thing is i got confused on the path you posted, it should be:
Use a root browser with all permissions and go to your root directory>system>app, cut your LGUSMms.apk to a safe location
Paste the apk you downloaded from my link into root>system>app and then change permissions to rw-r--r--
and not "apps" Other than that worked like a charm!
Exchange Email APKs for Nexus 4 4.2+ stock with security permissions disabled.
PLEASE READ THE FULL POST...ITS ONLY A FEW LINES!
Created using rustamabd's method, Full props to him.
Circumvents PIN AND Encryption requirements.
Created from stock and CM10.1 images, cannot confirm that it'll work on other ROMs.
UPDATEs:
5/8/13:
added CM10.1 compatible APKs
9/9/13:
New: Patched de-odexed STOCK 4.3 APKs added. Also, things were getting kind of busy, so I put the apks in a zip thats named per version, that was there's none of this renaming BS.
12/16/13:
Added CM10.2 compatible APKs
1/4/14
Added CM11 APKs
2/18/14
Added PA4 APKs
Tutorial:
Force Stop Email, and Clear Data.
Using Root Explorer (or something like it), go to /system/app and rename EmailGoogle and Exchange2Google apks and odex to EmailGoogle.apk.backup and Exchange2Google.apk.backup, etc (always important to have a backup that way you don't F everything up)
Download and unzip appropriate archive for your OS version
Move the files to /system/app
Set permissions to rw-r-r-
Reboot device
Note: You will have to allow activation additional security permissions when Email asks for it. But you should not be required to encrypt your device or set a PIN. Also, you will have to reload all your email info after this.
As always: for educational purposes only, can get you fired, jailed, tortured, etc. Use at your own discretion.

Basically stock email app may force you to set a security pin/pattern due to corporate security policies. This effectively makes any of your lock screen widgets, slider shortcuts unusable. This mod will allow you to bypass the exchange security requirement from exchange servers.

Haven't tried it yet but has anyone noticed battery drain with this version? I stopped using the one in the other thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1749921) because it caused alot of wakelocks. Exchange Services became my 2nd highest battery drainer
Yeah I read about that on that forum. Supposedly it has to do with incomplete syncs with the exchange calendar. I never experienced the drain, but disabled exchange calendar sync since I don't use it that much anyways. My battery life has been reasonable, roughly 10 hours with moderate to heavy usage, 14-18 if I'm not on it a lot.

You have to clear your current exchange account and set it up again AFTER you have replaced the files from this thread and set the appropriate permissions. It works quite well, specially also because it ignores the need to encrypt the device. Suberrrr!

1) system>apps>email and force Stop and Clear Data. Do the same for exchange if it's running.
2) replace EmailGoogle.apk and Exchange2Google.apk in /system/app with the attached files from the OP.
3) change permissions to rw-r-r
