Hi all,
I'm using CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0_marvel-ALPHA2 from modpunk with link2sd.
Just for info, how much available space do you have in your device, after a cash clean?
I have about 45 MB, But I saw my friend's WFS with stock sense ROM having much much more available space.
Thanks
Ale
Pretty low. I can't install anymore at 20mb, that's why i switched to s2e.
I use flipboard much (internal data clogger). In s2e, i have 145mb free.
Link2SD reports 32 MB free and 104 installed apps (many are system apps though). One trick I just learned is to link the dalvik cache (settings - more in l2s) which freed up quite alot of space.
I have 71 MB free with over 195 apps installed.. Use auto link, link dalvik cache too. Also I use Titanium Backup Pro to integrate all dalvik elements into ROM.
18mb without linking anything. I have moved everything I can to the SD except Maps and anything with a widget.
I am just about to setup my link2sd. I notice the Manage Apps figure can be wrong with this ROM intermittently.
Pretty much close to a solution
Guys, I have been using several ROMs of all types, like stock, odexed, deodexed, cm7 and cm9.... I have found one interesting thing that when install apps and widgets then we can move them to system storage using link2sd.... It helps a lot in reducing the cluttering of internal memory....
Just install the app, go to link2sd, select the app, go to actions and use convert to system app. If the app would be running at the moment it would crash, and would bug u again and again so just restart your WFS normally and voila, you would see the change on your own.... You can do it to most apps but not to all(wasn't able to figure out the accurate reason) such as ms video player could be moved to system but if its codecs are also moved then even after restart it gives an error that the codecs are not properly installed....
To uninstall such app that is moved to system you would require to convert it to user app, restart and uninstall.... Done
This helps a lot and luckily works on all ROMs may it be odexed or deodexed....
If you haven't partitioned your sd card but u r rooted, you can still use link2sd, just open the app normally but when it asks for the partition to be loaded simply press cancel.... Link2sd is a very useful app I respect it a lot cos its a free of cost

Thanks a lot!
I got same values linking dalvik cache and integrating all dalvik elements into ROM.
Just to know... are there any consequences integrating dalvik into ROM?
And finally: from link2sd memory satus view, I see system memory (/system) is only 6% free (total: 260 MB, used: 243 MB, free: 17,18MB).
Is it normal?

It's somewhat safe, as I never had a nice experience over it..... I once had to reflash my ROM due to that.... Why don't you uninstall all the HTC crap like, stocks, teeter etc.... And extra widgets that you don't use, that'd get you some space on your system partition.... And you can try my method mentioned above.... Well obviously its nothing new I'm telling here but with personal experience, I'm loving it :-D

I've never had any problems after integrating tbh.
41MB free with link2sd, 95 apps installed (14 linked)
Modpunk's alpha2: 51 users apps with 108 MB free B)
Odexed modpunk's ROM using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500475
Should effectively be the same as Titanium's Integrate Dalvik into sys but I didn't have the pro version of Titanium backup so this worked well for me.
Try removing system apps.. it worked fine for me..

Hi,
i think i messed something up while doing a nandroid backup (clicked @ backup google filesystem or something like this and then i got a not enough cache error).
I downloaded the app quick system info and i have only 2mb free system cache (of 40 mb total). So i am not able to download apps from the market which are bigger than 2mb
Any ideas?
thanks
edit: ok sorry, silly question -> recovery -> wipe cache 11mb free now..
hey
i just flashed a new rom to my phone (the 1.21 update) but before i did i backed up every app and all data using mybackup pro. before flashing i had 16mb free space.
after flashing and restoring everything, i now have 75mb free space. ive redownloaded all emails etc so i just dont see where this space has come from. Can anyone shed any light on it?
Probably most down to the Dalvik cache - as you start using your newly restored apps, the bytecode will be reoptimized and stored in the Dalvik cache.
Regards,
Dave
ah, so that space is going to dimish over time back to what it was then? lame, guess i might have to install app2sd after all
Not sure where to ask this, but since I use a Desire, I'll try in here...
I'm running a rooted stock 2.3, and use Titanium Backup.
I'm pretty happy about the space on my phone in general, but today I converted the built-in official app into a user app with Titanium, and then uninstalled it. Since I now had over 20 MB free space on the System ROM, according to Titanium, I decided to try to upgrade my Gmail, Maps and Market apps, and then move them to the ROM to get a little extra space (Upgraded Gmail takes 7 MB space. The upgraded market over 8 MB)
Titanium converted them to System apps, or integrated the upgrade to ROM apparently without any problems, but the minute I try to run the apps, the crash immediately. If I afterwards move them back to the regular memory, they work fine. What's the problem? Any suggestions?
Is there another way to upgrade the system apps, and move them/the upgrade to ROM?
As of right now, I have 21.7 MB free in the system partition, and 24.6 MB free in the internal memory, according to Titanium...
Using Titanium isn't the best way to do it. I guess the only proper way is to get the updated apps, create a flashable zip and flash it.
Punched in..

I made the same and to fix this wipe the data for integrated apps using titanium.
I also try on adobe flash and flash not work anymore.
Fix for this is option in titanium to move and lib files when integrating.
You can also integrate youtube, maps voice search.
Remember that the doing this will make apps integated to rom to be deodexed, dex file will be on data partition. Benefit is about 10 mb more when you integrate all 5 apps.

Hi,
The problem is, that I cant install apps that are over 6mb. Sometimes updates just remove apps from my phone, just saying "not enough space". The best part is, that I have ~130MB on /system, and 1,5GB on /sdcard! It happens both on stock-based roms and FXP 133 (CM9). I just have no clue what to do.
Wiped dalvik cache, cache, formatted data and system, it just happens no matter what. After moving all apps to SD problem persists. What am I missing?
Xperia arc, FXP 133 anzu, with included kernel
Forgot to add: It's a fresh installation. Sometimes larger applications install properly. I had problems with Titanium Backup and Sygic.
Not sure but if you're moving apps etc. to your SD card you might need to clear up space or buy another SD card (i recommend 12 -16gb SD card)
If its stored in internal memory you might need to do the same and clear up space
Have you tried using another sd card just to make sure whether the problem is with your existing sd card or device?

It has nothing to do with sd-card, can u both read? Should I provide logcat?
EDIT: Sorry, I meant nothing offensive, I'm just too direct sometimes.
What else is there left to wipe, when /system, /data, /cache and dalvik cache has been purged? Apps simply download, install and then Google play gives notification about lack of disk space. It happens even, when I install apk's using ES File Explorer. Why can I install games larger than 15MB (no sd data, so it lands entirely in phone memory), and can't install 6MB Sygic? APK file is NOT corrupted, it works on my other phone. Market version is no good as well...
Same problem with me too, i tried to install Google Now (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818189) and it refuses to copy the files in the /system with the error "Not enough memory".
It was fine till i used Pureness ROM, but now i am on Jelly Sandwich.
When you install an app, there is two files, the apk and the corresponding odex file (same name than the apk, suffix is '.odex'). Sometime, when you play with restore, moving apps in system, odex them or changing rom without cleanup, the ".odex" file remains. Search for corresponding odex file in /system/app or /data/app and delete it.
When you save apps to internal they go into data/app not system /apps
check what space you have if needed save some gspps from internal to system by using app called links2sd free from play store.
Try cleaning the dalvik cache this is not the same as deleting the mentioned app can do this.
titanium backup can help with moving to system and cleaning to dalvik.
Also look in vendor/app there may be some issues there.

vendor/app holds one small file, it has sth to do with ringtones, so it's not that.
Before switching roms I always make a proper cleanup.
There is sth interesting about system app manager though, it shows that "19..." of internal storage is used and "183 MB" is free. Why are there three dots instead of MB, and why is it just 19? It looks like the dots replaced sth that doesn't fit inside of the text field (190MB?).
Why does it happen after cleaning everything, on fresh, "Out-of-the-Box" rom? I could understand it on Ice Bean (it started on that rom), it was 200mb+ stock-based rom, but FXP is just ~130mb! There should be plenty of space for app data.
EDIT: Wow, thats even more odd, I've just managed to install all the apps I couldn't! Like the problem was never there. It's weird and I still want to know what the hell was that, and make sure it won't happen again, as I have no time for X Files kind of things.
Thanks for feedback, so far.
Cross post from [HOW TO] Fix the "Low on space" problem (in plain English)
I'm still having the issue after the format. I have 312 mb free and still get the low space.
(See attached image)
Also, whenever I run Facebook, it pops up saying "This device is low on freek disk space..." and that it may be unstable, blah blah.
I'm running IceCream Senseless ?.?.? (1.1.1 or maybe 1.0,I'm not really sure now). I'm pretty sure when I installed the rom that it made the 750mb partition. I don't remember installing any other mods other than adrenaline.
Side story: I thought I had ICSenseless 1.0 -- so I tried to update to 1.1.1. Cleared Dalvik, and cache, ran rom. After boot at the home screen a message popped up that said the UID inconsistent, and the "I'm feeling lucky" button (which was a nice addition.) Then I looked up that error on xda -- but decided to just go back to my backup before I installed 1.1.1. I Noted that even in 1.1.1 the low space icon was still there....
Anyway...
Root, yes; s-off, yes.
Did a nandroid backup, then cleared dalvik and cache partitions to see if that would help at all -- no, not really.
I don't think I have EXT4 installed. I ran a query in the console and it didn't come back with anything.
Please let me know if you have any ideas, or if I should post this in IceCream Senseless' thread, or if I should just make a new thread.
Cheers
The low space is due to /data/data partition being filled up. CM 7.2 has a good workaround to free space. Though if you want another fix, the no data limit normal dalvik linked in that thread can help. It will move everything from /data/data to /data and use only /data. This will take up more space on /data but the 750 MB will be shared.

Yeah, that worked.
Thanks lots!
lag and program problems
So I installed the "no data limit normal dalvik" and then my phone didn't like it I suppose.
The phone started having lots of lag. It would take a bit to register my touch -- even the hepatic feedback was delayed. Loading programs, swiping on anything, or un/locking my screen would be slow and jerky. Programs would be closing by themselves, or would prompt to force close. Even connecting to an incoming call would take upwards of 5 seconds.
I'm not sure what to do except roll back to a nandroid backup.
Any ideas?
Also, should I do a factory reset before installing a rom? (that won't wipe my sd card will it?)
Will factory reset wipe out ClockworkMod? What about root permissions?
