Ok, so i can manage to flash my phone (lt18i) with new official ics software using flashtool. Thats easy but what i can't get my head around yet is how to use fast boot. I want to try out some different roms but most threads tell you that you need to do something with fastboot ie. put this file into your phone using fastboot.
Can someone please explain what fastboot is and how it works. Is it a tool on my laptop or phone or both???
Please help
Cheers Phil
Fastboot is a mode that you can put your mobile in like flashmode for flashtool!
In flashtoo, you ll have to switch off ur mobil n press back button n plug in cable rite, same in fastboot mode, you'll have to switch off ua mobil then press menu button and plug d cable.. D led ll blink in blue color indicating tat it is connected in fastboot mode.. That mode is usually used to flash kernels and even firmwares also at certain situations!
Get it?
Edit : Its also a tool in PC also!
It is required to flash roms where the mobil is used to connect in that mode!

I think so, i take it that you use fastboot in windows command file?
I'll look for a mod and give it a go.
Thanks
I can't manage to get into fastboot mode using flash tool. It tells me i'm in flash mode even tho i've selected fastboot mode.
Any ideas????
When you connect the phone to your computer, you have to press the options button instead off back button.
Back button, green led - flash mode
Options button, blue led - fast boot mode

You have to push the button of the right of the home button on the cell, and keep pushed while you conect the cable, all that with the cell off.
1.- Power off the cell
2.- Go to Fastboot aplication on your pc, into a cmd window
3.- execute de fastboot comand
4.- when you see a line saying <waiting for device>
5.- Keep pushing the menu/option key at right of the menu key while you connect the usb cable, and keep pushed while fastboot works.
my arc s dont go to fastboot mode
Did u unlocked the bootloader...coz fasboot need unlock BL

IS THERE ANY WAY TO SAVE MY PHONE? (
First of all, it isnt broken, this has happened to me many times, please remove then insert your battery, then power the device on, it should vibrate, this is normal, leave it for a few minutes & it should boot.....
But if it does not, download & install Sony PC Companion (google it) select update software & their should be an option to repair your device software, follow the onscreen instructions & you should be fine

Holding back and plugging it in will make the phone turn to flash mode, therefore can be recognised by the flashtool. Speaking in caps doesn't help, in fact it kinda irritates me. :/

Please help.I turned off my Xperia and when i turn on it display is not working but is not a break.Phone is normal loading, but display is black. Please help i dont know what doing
sorry for my english
How do you know it is loading?
When loading is normal black screen. But phone vibrate
Did you flash any kernels or something? Or did it just randomly stop working without you doing ANYTHING?
Iˇm flash new kernel, new rom,but the same problem.Black screen
Flash went bad, try going to complete stock. If that doesn't work then you should return it or use your insurance to replace it.
did you use Fastboot mode? If yes, have you clicked the button "Reboot device into system"? Same thing happened to me because i forgot to reboot the device to it's new kernel system.
Hey, same thing happens to me. Press the power button and it just vibrates, no green led on power button. I dont think its booting at all though.
The last thing i did in Flashtool tool was used Fastboot Toolbox. I pressed "select system to Flash" and selected boot.img and userdata.img from Xperia_PLAY_ICS_beta.
Then pressed "Select kernel to Hotboot" and selected system.img. Phone then disconnects and shows DoomKernel image and then shuts down. I pressed power button and saw the Xperia logo and power button lights orange (therefore the battery definitely isn't dead) after about 10 seconds it shuts off altogether. Pressing power button or reconnecting in flash mode/fastboot don't work. I have to physically remove the battery and begin the whole process over again.
Flash Log shows this.

My Question is what i need to do??? I reflash my rom reunlock my bl :/ PLS HELP I like pressing the thanks buttonDD
Question [Q] Xperia Play Fastboot Not working any answer?Help Please:)
To boot to fastboot your phone must be turned off. Press and hold Menu button, plug in USB cable to your phone and plug the cable to the PC.
If your LED turns blue you can release Menu button - you are in fastboot.
(To get to flash mode it's the same procedure, but you hold Back button and LED turns green.)
So, boot to fastboot.
In Flashtool click thunder icon and choose Fastboot mode:
Now click 'Select kernel to Flash' and locate your kernel which you should put in firmware folder of flashtool.:good:
The second part of your log you was connected in flash mode (Green light) not fastboot mode (Blue light)

Sorry I posted wrong button to press yes it's search button for fastboot on Playare you pressing and holding the search button don't just press it! If it is not going into fastboot by holding search button are you sure your bootloader is unlocked?I would suggest installing fastboot drivers again but this would not affect booting from the phone into fastboot mode which is your main problem!
---------- Post added at 08:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:56 PM ----------
Try this go to flashtool /drivers folder press flashtool-drivers exe to install tick drivers for your phone but also tick drivers for flashtool and fastboot they are at the end of the list try that because sometimes people forget to install them:good:

Have the drivers installed. Just wont go into either mode. Trying to flash my phone to the 2.3.3 software.
Were you holding the right button when plugging it in? For fastboot use the search button and for flash mode use the back button. ( for flashmode a green light should come on and fastboot should be blue)

Is your bootloader unlocked? If not then you can enter fastboot. You can only enter flashmode.

Turn off your phone, connect USB to your PC, hold down Menu button, then connect cable to your phone.
