why there's nobody here

so.. these 30 people all have galaxy nexus? or what?
they all connect to different hotspots/APs?
What? they changed their own antennae?
I would suggest to try changing the router to another channel if possible, setting a static IP, then perhaps a different encryption on the router, for a start

Hardware failure, because the wrong baseband was flashed... If it grey, that means it's on, and mostly connected, but it doesn't have the connection to the internet, and where it says "WiFi is opening" that is also because of the radio
You need to set it to your carrier/country you can't just use any ROM/radio

The wifi is opening, but not connecting, form the router you can find that.
The phone hasn't been released in china,so the chinese have to buy the phone from other countries. And the baseband they have flashed I think is various, because of the signal is worse than other phones which have a banseband for china.hope you can understand my poor english= =

Really Weird WIFI Problem

Greetings everyone. I've had a T-Mobile Dash (the black one) for quite a while now, but since I got it has a really weird problem with the WIFI. When I turn on the WIFI it searches the connections flawlessly, I can put the key on any connection or enter freely when is open. But then it says connecting and a few seconds later it says connections available again, as if it tried to connect and could not. This happens with ALL connections, unsecured, WEP, ect. I had installed every cooked rom available and also installed the stock one to see if it works, but alas, nothing works. Does anyone has any tips or tricks on how to get the WIFI working?

Have you considered that probably the router your phone is searching has a problem? or you tried in other location and still the same problem?

Thanks for the suggestion, but yeah, I already did that. I have tried connection in many routers and in all happen the same thing. It is a really weird problem and searching through the 3VO thread I saw somebody had the same problem but no answer. I am ready to just accept that my Dash is WIFI less forever. I have tried everything. But thanks anyway

No wifi after 2.2 upgrade

So I have done the official 2.2 upgrade but now my wifi isn't working. I have gone into software updates and updated the profile, prl, and checked for new software and firmware.
Wifi keeps saying "obtaining ip address". It's my home wifi and before the update it was working flawlessly.
Appreciate the help.
Do I have this posted in the wrong section, or has this question been answered? I've searched high and low.
Try reflashing newest radio and wimax. Flash one at a time. This has happen to me before with wifi and 4g but on 1. 47. If that does not work flash calklins v1. 02 rom. I am using that on wifi typing thos response. Good luck

from the sound of it he flashed the official OTA so probably isnt rooted.
Have you tried it with any other routers to see if it connects?
try unplugging yor router and re plugging it back in to reset it and try connecting if that doesnt work sounds like your radio is messed up and you may have to take ti to a sprint store so they can reflash it if you arent rooted.

I am using the router for my laptop right now so I dont think the router is the problem.
I had the unofficial .3 update which is when my wifi stopped working, then I upgraded with the fix to .6 last night, still no wifi. I am not root, just bone stock .6 froyo...
Take it to sprint service center. Or delete the wifi settings in the phone and reconnect.

The reason i suggest resetting the router is because they often store information about a MAC address, When the information changes sometimes routers have connection issues. you dont see it a lot and since most of the time the information doesnt change (you dont update much on your pcs that would cause this). When it does change (ie a radio from a phone) it can sometimes cause issues. that's why i suggested you restart the router. I have had it happen several times when changing radios on my phones over the years.
Just because 1 thing connects to a router does not mean it cant contribute to another thing not connecting to it. I also wouldnt bet my life that it would fix it or anything.i was just giving a suggestion that HAS worked for me in the past when similar issues happened.IT was a good place to start. It would also help verify the problem is in deed with the phone from an actual tech point stand instead of an assumption.
anyway best of luck with getting this fixed

Gave it a shot, but still no luck. Keeps on trying to obtain IP address. Won't connect at my friends house anymore either.

it is definatly the phone then. It sounds like thw Wimax radio didnt flash right. With out Root i think your best bet is to drop by a sprint store they should be able to reflash it for you.
@chris17house
I have the same issue on my EVO that is still on 1.47.
The first time I connected my router gives my phone a lease for a ip address (lets say 192.168.0.010) and associates it with the mac address of my phone.
When I try to reconnect at a later time, the lease for my phone on the router has not expired, but the router gives my phone a new ip address (let say 192.168.0.020), which causes a conflict with the same mac address, but two different ip address. Once I reset my router and my phone the problem is fixed, because the router releases the lease and my phone does a dns flush.
Do you think flashing the wimax or radio instead of reflashing the entire rom would be worth a try? And if so, where is that file located please.
Ok, so wifi connects everywhere except my home. I have unplugged the router and modem for an hour and reconnected them. I still am unable to connect to my home wifi. Is there something more i need to be doing?
I was having the same problem with work and home, but all I did was forget both locatations and discover them again.

Translate, what does that mean?
Sent from LT18i with custom firmware by myself.
2nd in the list switches to the 3nd , then 4th goes to 2nd.... (keeps on going) verry weird, maby i should make a vid of it.
If you mean the list of networks keeps changing, it is because the signal strength might be changing and Android does list them by showing the stronger ones first.

Wifi not working properly

This is strange, my wifi works but then suddenly it only uploads (only green arrow lights up) and it will not download (orange arrow will not light up). I can disconnect and reconnect and I get some service, but then nothing happens.
I've tried the following:
Rebooting the phone several times
Restarting the router
Changing from DHCP to Static IP
Turning off the new open network notification
Clearing data from Google Play store
Disabled wifi power save with *#0011#
Nothing seems to fix it. What is going on?
READ BEFORE YOU FOLLOW ANY OF MY INSTRUCTIONS!! U HAVE BEEN WARNED I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU SOMEHOW DAMAGE YOUR PHONE!!!
OK so let's go straight to Ur answer.... Let it sit for a while after it boots up (a minute) with Ur wifi on. so restart the phone while wifi is on and let it sit for a while... If Ur using a wired connection with a wireless router disconnect the wired modem then the wireless and wait 10 secs and reconnect the wired first and let's all the lights go green or whatever color they show u its ready and then connect the wireless router and try to connect to it.
If that didn't work and you don't have your phone rooted then flash the only time that we have for now. That should fix the wifi issue.
If it doesn't work try to go back to stock and let it sit for a while without touching it and if it doesn't work then the phones defective but keep in mind that if you went through the root process that if you send it back without erasing the flash counter your warranty will be voided so be aware of it. I don't know if there's an app compatible with the s4 so if it's not rooted then replace it just to be safe.... It's your choice
Sent from a phone better than yours!
My phone is not rooted.
What did you mean by flashing the time?
How do I erase the flash count if I decide to root later?
Thank you for your help. =)
------edit------
The method -- sans the flashing the time -- seemed to work, but then the internet stalled again. This is happening on two S4 phones. My other phones have no trouble with the wifi, my pcs have no trouble with the wifi. What are the odds that two phones aren't working? Nobody else is having this problem?
I have already made a thread with the sane issue. You're not the only one facing it. A lot more people are too. It might be a software thing and might be fixed in the next update. If not, exchange it

What router are you using? D-Link DIR-655 seems to be most popular one people are having trouble with. What mode are you using (a/b/g/n/mixed/etc)? Mine only works with Mixed n and g mode. When you turn off the wifi, does it actually turn off (the green indicator will dim but should actually go away when it's off)? The stock rom seems to want to keep the wifi on at all costs... not sure why! Mine is very stubborn and takes several tries before it actually turns off and says "turn wifi on the see available networks." In order for the *#0011# Power Save Mode Off setting to work, the WiFi needs to actually turn off then back on. I have to toggle airplane mode sometimes just to get the wifi to turn off.
DGL-4500 Linksys
It shuts off when I save; I put the settings as you suggested. I'll test it.

DGL-4500 is a D-Link, correct? If it is a D-Link, I'd make sure you are on the latest firmware for it and try various mode settings (disable mixed modes, 2.4GHz or 5GHz only, WPA2/TKIP only, etc). This post details a solution to my scenario; maybe it'll give you some ideas.
I have d-link router too and wifi working just fine

Yeah, it is a D-Link; not a Linksys. I tried what you did, it seems to be okay so far. I have the latest firmware. I still think this is a problem with the phone. Do you think an update will fix it?

Yes, it's definitely a problem with the phone. I've spent the last several days researching and trying to find a permanent solution. It appears to be a software issue but I've yet to explain how wifi works just fine for some and not for others.
Any solution to this yet without messing with the router setting. I have this week left to get a full refund. I doubt exchanging it would make a difference. Plus tmobile is out of stock and stores won't allow exchanges since I bought mine online.

I sent my phone to Samsung, so I'm waiting to hear back from them on what they have to do to fix my issue. Maybe it's a faulty batch of Broadcom chips?

Sense 5 wifi n-mode and wifi fix

Hi all
I believe the HOX has a wireless n compatible receiver..well I'm Viper ROM that has the wifi fix and I was checking the possibility of connecting to the wifi with just n-mode enabled in it...As soon as I switch to wireless-n, the phone's wifi disconnects and cannot connect again to the modem...All my other devices connect well even in this mode...So the question really is does the wifi fix really fix anything? It doesn't matter which ROM I'm on...I have to check with the pure stock ROM to see if the wifi works then...
Watch this space...in the meantime, pls let me know your comments on the above

Really...dang! then it could be a modem issue..shoooottt...what modem do you have..i have a stupid dlink..but the funny thing is that my bro's nexus 4 connects easily to my modem...but neither does the HOX nor my Nexus 7 (old version) connects...do I need to manually reboot the modem after changing it to n-mode?
i have from Telekom one of the newest Speedport try to reboot the modem/router it often helps...

yup did that...but still the funny thing is that the n mode is not shown in my laptop and I know that my laptop has n connectivity...dang!
maybe you need to also change something in router menu where you can change how strong wireless etc is and which connectivy it allows

then let it stay on automaticaly or on 2,4ghz ...maybe it's the thing that the n-mode on hox and nexus 7 isn't working like it should ...
Are you sure the channel isn't on 13? The sense 5 update broke channel 13+ on my hox, maybe you have the same issue?
