Hi all
I believe the HOX has a wireless n compatible receiver..well I'm Viper ROM that has the wifi fix and I was checking the possibility of connecting to the wifi with just n-mode enabled in it...As soon as I switch to wireless-n, the phone's wifi disconnects and cannot connect again to the modem...All my other devices connect well even in this mode...So the question really is does the wifi fix really fix anything? It doesn't matter which ROM I'm on...I have to check with the pure stock ROM to see if the wifi works then...
Watch this space...in the meantime, pls let me know your comments on the above

Really...dang! then it could be a modem issue..shoooottt...what modem do you have..i have a stupid dlink..but the funny thing is that my bro's nexus 4 connects easily to my modem...but neither does the HOX nor my Nexus 7 (old version) connects...do I need to manually reboot the modem after changing it to n-mode?
i have from Telekom one of the newest Speedport try to reboot the modem/router it often helps...

yup did that...but still the funny thing is that the n mode is not shown in my laptop and I know that my laptop has n connectivity...dang!
maybe you need to also change something in router menu where you can change how strong wireless etc is and which connectivy it allows

then let it stay on automaticaly or on 2,4ghz ...maybe it's the thing that the n-mode on hox and nexus 7 isn't working like it should ...
Are you sure the channel isn't on 13? The sense 5 update broke channel 13+ on my hox, maybe you have the same issue?

Hey everyone,
I am having an issue where when I try to connect to my wifi, it will connect for a second then disconnect right after. My router says phone is connected.
I have not changed anything recently. I an running cm7 rc1
Any help is appreciated

Maybe try a new kernel. I know when I use some kernels I wont get 4g or GPS or wifi. You can get kernel manager from the market for free. It makes testing new ones really easy.

If its been working before, have you tried to power cycle the wifi router.. I know mine sometimes gets a hiccup and refuses to issue new leases..... just a thought.

True. If the router says its connected but not sending data it sounds like the router not the phone. My crappy router does that a lot. I apologize for jumping to conclusions before thinking lol.

I didn't really think about that. I will try that as soon as I get home and see what happens.

Im on synergy - nightly rom by virus 08/12 and I just recently upgraded my router to be able to handle N wireless, I have been able to connect the other devices in my house successfully expect my phone, my phone sees my router and it prompts me to type in the wpa 2 psk key, I put the key in, it says connecting and then it never connects, would just powe cycling the router fix this or is there something else I should do?

If you have the stock kernel, wifi is disabled by default, though I thought most if the custom roms were hex edited to work.. Perhaps refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158629
If that doesn't work try just wpa.and not else, also check if you are using aes or tkip encryption, I remember reading somewhere that it might make a difference which one you pick, but can't remember now... Hope this helps
I just flashed lithid cm's FREEDOM for the synergy-kingdom nightlies v 0.7.6?
Hopefully this works if not i'll try your suggestion of flashing the wireless N fix, the kernel says it supports wireless N so you might be right it might have something to do with the type of encryption the router has for the actual connection, thing is my POS verizon router will not let me switch to regular WPA or WEP for the wireless N connection
Hi everyone,
I'm enjoying my One X since last Thursday. I did have one problem, though : my wifi wasn't working at home. What happened is that the phone correctly connected at the network, but then it would "kill" the wifi.
I mean, neither of my laptop computer nor my old Desire (which were both connected before the One X) worked on wifi after I connected the One X, which by the way didn't work either.
Considering this issue I wen't to the carphone warehouse to have another phone.
I didn't go home straight, I got to try other wifi network, which worked perfectly.
But, at home, I'm still having the same issue !
Can anyone help me please ?
so none of your hardware is now connecting to your Wifi?
If so, I would suggest a hard reset of your Hub/router. If there is a reset button hold it in for 20-30 seconds, if not, unplug for 30 seconds.
If it's just your One X not connecting try going through settings to ensure its setup correctly.
Had the same issue with my sgs and avm fritzbox 7390. The only thing that helped was a complete factory reset of the fritzbox.
Try using a static ip, make sure it is unique.
There is a setting under wifi advanced to stop the wifi from sleeping when phone is off or kill it if the signal drops or if your phone is idle. I modified those and it works perfectly. Default setting is to kill it.
Nothing is wrong with your wifi. It's just the way you've got it setup.

Actually, my laptop and Desire are connected to the Wifi ; they can't connect only after i set my One X on the Wifi. It's like the phone is destroying the wifi network.

I didn't find those settings. In wifi advanced I only found an setting that disconnect the phone when signal is low.
I should mention that whenever the One X is set on wifi, it works for like a minute. Then all of my devices can't access the internet. Desire and One X are showing that they are connected, but no access to play store, browser... Computer is showing an error message "limited access". And my TV (which I get with my internet box) is freezing.
What I don't understand is that I tried on two friends' network, everything worked perfectly. Only at home As Cxpher said, I guess it must be my wifi that isn't set up correctly. But what can I do next, except hard reset and static ip ?
EDIT : I tried to connect the One X without having any other device connected. It worked, but as soon as I launched the Play Store, I lost the connection and had to reboot my box. Apparently the Play Store is messing everything up. Weither I have hardware connected or not, it never works (again, only at home).
Up.
Anyway, not being able to use my own wifi is a bit annoying
Same exact issue. Phone going back tomorrow.
WiFi fine for 2 years.
New one x WiFi dropping and having to reset router after 2 mins connected as all WiFi dies.
Seriously fcukd off!
Which router do you have? Is there any logging-function available in the router software/firmware?
Standard netgear.
It's been fine with s2 and hasn't needed to be reset for a over a year....until yesterday!.
Not overly tech, would a log facility help?
A log would help to see what is going on with the router when the phone connects. The fritzbox showed an authentication error when my sgs connected and killed the wifi for all devices in the network. Just googled your problem. Netgear and htc devices seem to have problems very often when connecting. You should try to get the newest fw for the netgear. Maybe that solves the problem.
Thanks for your help. Latest firmware is installed tho.
Bizzar issue!
Shame as its a nice phone too
I have a classic french box (called Bbox). For the record that actually is my second phone. I had the same issue with the first one, so I went directly to ask another one.
So has exchange phone resolved the issue?
Sorry I explained it wrong. I meant I already had the problem when I first bought the phone, so I went to get another one. I had the issue on both One X.
Well i have got a netgear router and have no problems at all must be something to do with you router or it setting i would do full reset and see if that helps
hi guys!
i had the same problem with my router ( netgear DGN 1000), i solved by updating the router firmware to latest manually! no more wifi drops now!
i hope this information can help all users with this issue!
In an other thread somebody had advised to deactivate the wifi password in the router. That helped fix the problem at his phone. I will try this too to confirm that. But wifi without password is an absolute NoGo in my opinion.
here the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24811292&postcount=6
I'm bringing this up again because issue is still here ; removing encryption on the wifi network changes nothing. Other thing now, it didn't only happened at home but also at work.
Warranty is now void, this is my second HOX and I had the same problem on both. Anyone has a magic solution ?
same issue
Im having the same wifi issue using a D-Link DIR-615. Wifi is working perfectly with other device but when my One X connect to wifi, it freeze the wifi network for all devices. I Always need to unplug/plug the AC cord to reboot and refresh the wifi network and after it may works for a couple of mins or maybe 1 hour and after I must reboot the router again.
My router firmware is up to date but there is no more support/firmware update for the DIR-615 REV. B since 2008!
I switched to static ip and snag persist so im back in dhcp.
I cleared the router log and will post it next time it will freeze.
Hi all, I just updated my phone to JB. it seems that wifi has stopped working. Although It shows connected to the modem, I can't browse using the wifi. There are no issues with the data connection. I tried restarting the modem, restarting the phone etc yet the problem is still there. The moment I connect to the wifi it works for a while but then it dies off. I even did a factory reset on the phone yet no respite.
The hboot version is 1.36 and everything is stock. Can someone please help me out here?
I'd been using the whole night via WiFi

Try forgetting the network or change password for your wifi network? Sometimes that will solve the problem. Have you also tried using your wifi on other devices? If it is still a One X problem only, send it for service.
If you are on N.
Try setting router to G only, see how that works.
While I dont have this issue on one x, got this same issue on china tablet connecting to certain Wifi access point.
Generally I say it's compatibility issue, between newer wifi driver on JB update and particular Wifi AP. And enabling G mode only increase compatibility.

Haven't found a solution yet, I have tried everything but only resetting the router works for the rhyme.

This is the best thing you should try.., set the Wifi to G only or B/G only and then try connecting your devices. i had a tablet with this problem and it was so simple to sort it out with this router setting change.
what is your router's brand or manufacturer?
try disabling the WMS (or WMM on other brand) in wireless settings
I had this problem since ICS and this trick worked for me.
My WiFi has only improved.
Hardware fault maybe?

You shouldn't have to downgrade your wifi band to G.it's definately a software issue. Try going to wifi settings and change the wifi frequency band from auto to an actual value (eg 2.4)
Cid 044, no wiffi problems. Since day 1 late april. Wifi is great. Using lastest linksys Cisco router.
SkyDragon Sense, Dsensed, SeMistock & Stock Roms. Next Targe ~ ~ ~ > JB or Kelly Bean
here no issues too..

Hi Guys, im experiencing some annoying problem .
When i connect my phone to our Wireless network i got like 10 sec Internet access then it crashes the whole network. (I receive signal but cant connect to internet) . Then i have to restart my Router and disconnect my phone in order to get my Internet back.
Im using Static IPs but the Gateway and DNS are the same (idk if thats ok but works perfectly on my PC)
This problem appeared after the Jelly Bean update, before that ,it worked perfectly.
I would be very happy if somebody knows why is that happening.

I've tried router reset and changing channels on the router but nothing works.
Only happened after JB update.
Ive had this since I got the hox. Its actually got a bit better since the last update but still kills everything now and then

Yes set your router to G mode only will do the trick. Its a step down from B or N but seems the only solution. Its a HTC issue not JB because friends of mine who have other manufactures(Samsung) phones with JB have no issues on my network when my router is set to GB and N.

Yes, me too. If you have root you can easily fix it by editing a wifi-configfile:
/etc/firmware/wlan/prima/WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini
Apply the following changes:
ConnectivityThresholdDBM=-100
gEnableBmps=0
Your wifi signal should be stronger now and it shouldn't drop anymore.
Found that in the Z forum, also works for Zl.
Don't forget to back up!
....and as usual: i can not be made responsible if you brick...blablabla....

I got my Xperia ZL 6502 about a week ago and I am having simialr issues with wifi. In addition to loosing wifi connection every now and then, the phone's wifi connection is also messing up connection of the wireless router with other connected devices in the house. I found people having similar issues on sony support forums. Seems the phone has compatibility issues with Netgear make of routers. I had absolutely no issues when I connected to a different router.
Did anybody here notice the same issue with your ZLs and did the configfile editing also got rid of the router disconnecting from other devices problem?

I guess it is so or it feels so.
BTW: How can I root my XZL to verify the WiFi parameter?!

I'm having the same problem. It can't connect to any network. I also upgraded my firmware but the problem still exists.
Interesting - I'll have to check out these settings later.
I had issues with being able to connect to an 802.1x secured wireless network... I basically reset my wifi settings figuring something was corrupted (I removed most of the files in /data/misc/wifi... I'd previously been told that these files would be re-created if you removed them...)
If you decide to remove these files yourself... make a backup...
