Is it safe to remove this app from the system? I'd like to remove for the reason that im not using it. Plus it takes a lot of space.
Follow up question: How to remove it? Thanks in advance.

It was installed instantly when I updated gb to 2.3.6. And also it does not show uninstall in settings>applications>manage apps>all. So i thought it was on the system.

is your phone rooted? then you can uninstall it with titanium backup or something like that.
Yeah its rooted. Cant I directly delete it from system? I mean remove .apk from system.

I installed adfree. To my phone ...
Then hours later 4 new apps showed up.
There not in play store so I can uninstall them... there not in settings app to uninstall
And I even went as far as to look in root explorer... nothing there either. On the net it says there real apps but I DID NOT PUT THEM THERE! I don't know if adblock is the root cause or what to do I really don't want to do a fresh install.. but it looks like I may have to.... here a pic the apps at the top just appeared ... lookout detected nothing....
Edit: its hard to see but there all like catch a chearter... GPS a cheater... extra.

Adfree altered my host file.... I could try titanium but would that pull out the root changes and unhost the changes in the file?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Wipe Data, Format SD Card, Reflash Rom, do not reinstall apps from Titanium Bakcup, do fresh installs.
The only way to be sure that the malware/spyware is gone.
I have been running adfree for months now and this has not happened to me. There is no way you got this from adfree. You either got it from web browsing on your phone or there is another application you installed that put them there.

That is caused by a already installed app. Uninstall the app before you started to get these ads and they will not show again
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I too have ad free. It's not that app bro.

Def not adfree.. Search for addons detector in market and that will give you an idea of what app did that

For a solid YouTube downloader, try Tubemate. You can't get it from the Play Store but you can get it in the Amazon Market or the app's website I believe. No adds or spam, the only problem is it can only download videos for which there are mobile versions. About one in 10 videos doesn't have a mobile version, in my experience.
I recently went back to ics stock ..rooted the phone and started to remove the bloat trough es file explorerel..but now,in place of the apps..I get the icon with sd card logo. For example ,PlayBooks
Where did I mess up?

Looks like you installed some apps to sdcard?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
You moved apps to your sd card probably? That's when you get those symbols
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
just wipe cache partition and reboot they should be gone or reinstall if they are missing. That happens to me alot.
Just reboot. Since you removed those bloatwares, after you exit the app you used to remove them with, your app drawer looks like that. Just reboot.
I rebooted in to cwr, flashes super cache wipe and rebooted back into ics,but the problem is still there
Edit: I kinda fixed the problem. I disabled them trough settings--application

That could be your problem. You have to uninstall, not just delete the apk's. Try uninstalling thru titanium, ROM toolbox, or the ROM. See if that makes a diffrence

No problem, glad to help. Just been busy with both my comps, but good to go now.
What it looks like to me is those apps are either Frozen? Or Uninstalled? The ones that have the zero's are ones that you can freeze/uninstall I think they are in the /data/app.
You're running stock if I remember right, and there's an app called something like Application Manager? It's an LG thing and installs extra apps if you let it. It'll let you uninstall them too.
Also, if you went into /data/app and manually deleted them, that Application Manager still holds info.

I just checked the data/app folder and the apps that are 0.00b have permissions set to rwxrwxrwxrwx or...777 I think. I checked my moms phone and a few of her apps say 0.00B too so I guess its an LG thing?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Must be a stock app thing. I just checked a friends Nexus 4. There are various things that say 0.00b

I rooted my phone, updated supersu, installed busybox. Why can't I delete stock apps?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
You need a File Manager with Root Access (I.e. ES File Explorer or Root Explorer) to remove stock apps from the /system/apps
Or
You can use Titanium Backup to remove /system/apps
Ok thanks man. This isn't my first foray into rooting. I have a HTC incredible, and a Samsung captivate, both rooted and on custom roms. On those it was far simmer to rid the bloat by simply going to the app manager and uninstalling the unwanted apps.

Anyone know where they are hiding the Google Chrome browser .apk? Also what all needs rt be deleted to rid the phone of knox? Or is it tied too far into the system for that?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Chrome is in /system/app and a /data/app.
Go into App manager first then uninstall it then use the File Manager to uninstall it from /system/app
As far as Knox.... I'm not too sure.

Delete the following files to get rid of KNOX, I still think there are few embedded files/processes but this should take care of the application iteself.
/system/app/KNOXAgent.apk
/system/app/KNOXAgent.odex
/system/app/KNOXStore.apk
/system/app/KNOXStore.odex
/system/app/KNOXStub.apk
/system/app/KnoxAttestationAgent.apk
/system/app/KnoxAttestationAgent.odex
/system/containers/ --> directory
/system/etc/secure_storage/com.sec.knox.store
/system/lib/libknoxdrawglfunction.so
/system/app/KLMSAgent.apk
/system/app/KLMSAgent.odex
Nice thanks guys.
