So my least favorite part about running custom roms on this phone is the "freeze at 45%, reboot to 6%" bug. Does anyone know if this is ever going to be fixed? Or if it is even a real"bug"? Do other phones experience this or just Galaxy S? I don't remember it being an issue when I ran stock, though honestly it was probably only for like a week.
Like this.

Because this question does not retain to the Atrix 4G (though I am curious as to whether the flashable in that thread would work on cm9 for our phones.) and the other thread you posted is just more lames like you thinking this problem has been solved for the Epic. Now the whole point of a forum is to be able to ask questions in Q+A because others might know the answer already.. but I HAVE googled this (yes even with the site:xda-developers.com filter) and all I can find as far as the epic goes is people telling others to plug their charger in while its off to calibrate it. That doesn't help if you don't have a charger and it doesn't answer my question about whether or not it will be truly fixed for the epic and not "handy manned".. so basically unless you can post a thread that has a flashable software fix or a thread containing above said fix for this then please don't bother and keep your smart ass responses to yourself.
Edit: gushy apology later in thread.

Your lucky... I've had it run down to 2-3%. It sucks when your nowhere near a charger.
never had a problem running my battery all the way down to 1% with the stock 1500mah and the et4g 1800mah batteries. I do remember a couple of the GB leaks that would occasionally shutdown before they hit 5% but lets be honest, that was expected of buggy leaks. Since moving to CM7/CM9/AOKP zero battery issues. Sure, some days i barely make it through the day off the charger, but most days i'm good to go. I do on occasion see the "reboot your phone with 40% battery and boots back up at 15%" "bug" but i don't reboot my phone that often like that, normally i'll shut it down and don't have that issue.

Yeah I've never had it just die on me because it was reporting juice and was actually dead.. and I'll have to test and see if it does it when I do a complete shutdown cause I almost never shut it down. Almost always involuntary reboots for me that come back up with anywhere from 2%-20% .

I've ran mine down to literally 0% it shows an X for battery and it was still on and running but i soon shut it off so i could charge it haha
OP, are you undervolting? If so that is the probable cause of you freezes when your battery gets under 50%. It is not a glass full of energy. Percentage is a direct correlation to voltage. 100% is 4.2V, I believe 0% is 3.7V. As you get below 50% that undervolting will drop even further. As for the percentage fifference it is usually a false reading based on the heat of the battery lowering the voltage reading during the intense drain of rebooting. Usually taking the battery out for a few minutes to cool will bring it back to the 40% or so.

First off, I may have misunderstood your question, but I did provide a response, regardless. Responding as an ungrateful tool is unnecessary.
And as to not "pertaining" to the Atrix, you DID ask if other phones were affected.
But to the point, I mistook your question to be simply asking why the phone misreads the battery level upon reboot as mentioned:

I see now that you quite literally mean that your phone is failing to report below a certain level until it dies. To answer your question, I've never seen this, but it would help if you would provide basic information.
1. Rom Tested
2. Undervolting/Overclocking settings
3. Any additional changes you've made after installing a rom
This doesn't sound like a typical battery reporting error others have experienced. Are you undervolting?
P.S. Grow a sense of humor. You'll live longer.

My bad your right. I never work mornings and am in a horrible mood because I happen to be working with my *****y manager (who never works mornings either) and we are clashing hardcore. Sorry I jumped down your throat. To answer ya'lls question I am on cm9 beta 3, but have always had random reboots once in awhile so honestly while its an experimental build I don't think that's the cause of my reboots I'm on the latest Shadow kernel. No undervolting. But anyway the purpose of this thread isn't really to find out why I'm getting reboots (though I appreciate you guys trying to help me find that out too) but rather to find out why my battery drains so much afterwards. So yes you were correct in your original assumtion.

Fair enough ;-).
All I can say is that with the full battery circle mod, rebooting often shows a really low percentage. If you leave it, it usually slowly rises back to where it should be... not sure that's your problem.

I understand what the OP is saying, and I too have this problem. Mostly when I go to cwm and return. My battery sometimes goes from a 60 or even 70 to a 5-19%. Its not all that's bad of a problem because I know that I have more than that in my battery. But it makes the phone scary because you never know when it'll blow up on you lol.

Exactly. and today I did a little experiment. I drained to 50% percent and did a manual reboot. I did like kenny and random suggested and let it cool down before I rebooted and while it was better.. it was still not correct... I rebooted to around 25%. Now the atrix folks in that forum apparently have a flashable software fix for this that works. Does anyone wanna take that apart and see if they can work for us? Sorry this just seems so fixable I'm honestly surprised that with our kickin dev community nobody's worked on it.

I have had issues with my old extended battery on multiple roms not reading correctly. no matter what i did on both foryo and gb so far have had good luck with the 1800. i have also had issues of rebooting on with my extended.

I would try the EK02 modem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367695
The EK02 modem may cure LOS and could potentially cure other problems such as what's discussed in this thread.
If you changed from EG30 to EG12/EG31, you cannot at this time go to the EK02 modem because it is not a full modem, just a "patch" to the EG30 modem
Background: Previously I was experiencing absolutely horrid battery life with the Epic Touch, Sprint even replaced the device with a brand new replacement and it still occurred. (When I say horrid battery life I mean I would watch a 21 minute show on Netflix via wifi and go from 100% to 72%) A full battery, phone untouched, wouldn't last 6 hours.
Anyway, I know that others have had this issue as well, and from what I've seen they are running the EG30 modem. (As was I)
When I odined to EG12 my battery improve significantly. (Not perfect but much better)
[Discharging from 99%] with constant usage/screen on the phone used 11%.
That's about what I'd use in 10 minutes previously.

Open odin, place modem.bin in phone slot, boot into download mode and start the process.
Important note, you cannot go back to EG30 at this point as it hasn't been successfully pulled from a phone.
Well just a word of warning, currently if you flash EG12, you can't back to EG30 and some people are reporting problems receiving calls when the phone is in sleep mode when using EG12.

As far as problems receiving calls? I have had NO ISSUE with that whatsoever and my phone has problems sleeping whether I have EG30 or EG12.
I think this "fix" is more of a remedy for a certain percentage of phones that are experiencing inexplicable excessive battery drain on the EG30 radio.

So this makes me wonder ... WTF is different from my EG30 bin, where I've gotten excellent battery life out of the box, and people like matty's? Is it possible that the hardware and/or software on the cell towers in matty's area is different from in my area, and the config in his area doesn't play nice with the stock radio firmware on this phone?
It's the only thing that makes any sense to me on these signal related battery issues. matty has even gone through two phones with the same issue. I'd think the chance of that is rather low, unless his region received a bad batch of phones.
I just don't get it.

I think we should have a thread where people post what major city they're in, their battery life for a full charge, and their modem. Maybe gathering this data could help resolve if its a tower thing.

I don't think it has anything to do with the towers. I had my phone in airplane mode when I was playing with different settings [with EG30] and the issues still existed.
I would be interested in knowing if there are different hardware versions besides the D710.10.
I still think it's a modem/kernel combo issue.

I'm not suggesting it will happen to everyone, just that these folks are reporting this experience for their setups.

I see that.
Obviously I wouldn't recommend flashing this if you aren't having the issue.
But to be completely honest with you, if you're having the battery drain that I'm talking about [and I've seen others with this issue too], it's pretty useless.
I mean, 6 hours of battery life with the phone not being touched dude.
But yeah, no call issues here.
Ensure those that are having call issues don't have there phones face down as the call will be silenced I believe if they have that setting enabled.

Is this normal for the GN? Do I have a faulty device? On wifi, my download speeds are horrible for this type of device. At home, I have comcast broadband, and a comcast router. My GS2 destroyed downloads at a ridiculous rate. We're talking MBs a second. Full wifi signal. My GN barely holds 3 bars. Consistently downloading at a couple hundreds kb/s
Before you say anything, no it's not my router. I've 2 laptops, a PS3, a kindle, and a TV, all hooked up to the router, and they've no problem.
If this is the way it's going to be, and exchanging the device won't help, I guess I'll cancel verizon, and head to sprint and pick up another sg2. IDK.
Anything guys? For a device like this to be faulty in an area like downloads via wifi, especially when verizon charges up the butt for data, it's unacceptable.

I am actually going to say it. It could be your router. The GN is finnicky as hell with wifi channels. Wifi channels will affect signal strength, stability of connection, and speed of intarwebz.
Now before you say it: Not all wifi chipsets and devices are created equally. It is a phone, it doesn't exactly have a hi gain antenna in it
For a $750 phone, you think the parts would be equal to other phones. If it is my router, I have like 6 other devices on it that work just fine, so I think it I can safely blame it on the phone. Deal breaker I think.

Sounds like you should swoop an iPhone. If you are using a N Draft router you need to select a certain channel range (Google it, you'll find it). I pull 10-20 MBPs on WiFi. Its not that hard to change your wifi channel btw.

Here's a question, with data disabled, and only text messaging, why did my battery drain 5% in 6 minutes? I literally stood and had a conversation and looked at my phone, and it went from 38% to 33% in 6 minutes. This is also the extended battery
In fact, it just drained 3% in the time it took me to write this post out.

What other solutions did you think you would find for your device? A cantenna? Changing channels is the first thing you should try in these cases.
Could we have determined that maybe something is wrong with your device? Sure. But you can't teach someone who knows it all.

Whatever dude. Battery in this thing sucks. Not worth it. I have to be afraid to turn on my Nexus or my battery will drain. I timed it for about 20 minutes. All I was doing was moving around in my settings and in my phone, no browsing, no games, etc. My battery drained 1% every 2 minutes, probably take a few seconds. Just to roam around my phone, my battery was dying practically by the minute. This is with the extended battery and NOW juice defender ultimate. No network, wifi only, full brightness.
Why would I lie? I have no reason to lie. Truly I was looking for answers at first, then you got all upset because this phones your baby. If this phone's charge lasts you all day, you apparently don't use it the way it was made to be used.
I'm now turning on auto brightness which will obviously make a difference, but will totally offset the ENTIRE point of purchasing this device, which is the screen and it's beauty. That is, unless you're sitting right next to a charger.
Whatever. No help here.

Can't help the helpless. You did not post battery stats, you were never open to any suggestions with your first problem. Now we can glean from your post that you were likely at max brightness and are confused the battery was being drained by the screen. Derp.

Changing wireless channels is normal troubleshooting for any wireless device with connection issues. I got upset because this phone is my baby? Mine works. Not upset in the least!
I used to do Microsoft support when I was younger--
You know what we used to do with difficult folks like you who refused to try troubleshooting due to them 'knowing' so much? Format their machines and send them on their way. You just can't help those who know it all. Why ask for help if you already know everything?
Move on, Mr. Troll. Another device awaits you.

if you had tried the suggestion of changing wifi channel, people would continue to help. if you cant even understand/are willing to try basic troubleshooting, you are right... there is no help for you. no one wants to deal with someone who wont even think about trying suggestions.
battery drain issue
I started experiencing the same kind of battery drain issue you're talking about (if I was reading a kindle with screen brightness at minimum in airplane mode my battery would last less than an hour, and that was extended life battery) and it turned out I had a bad phone. Verizon replaced it (finally, after I showed them a screen dying with dead pixels and off colors) and my battery life increased. But not as much as I would have liked! Turned out bad phone ruined my extended life battery. Got a new one, no longer have "battery anxiety" - maybe call the company, explain what's happening, and try a replacement before you decide "all" GNEX are crap.
WIFI reach on phone is not as good as on my Galaxy 10.1 Tab, but my D/L speeds are pretty much consistent with everything else on network, so all your problems could be the same.
LOL @ This epic fail of a thread. The OP is beyond help as there's no helping the intentionally obtuse.

HOW TO FIX ICS!!!
My goodness, I must have been pretty irked to have made this thread from phone... where I couldn't even see the difference in sizes..
I hope the sarcasm was obvious enough that people aren't setting everything to the settings in the pictures...
I was pointing attempting to point out that, by default your settings are in kill-the-crap-out-of-battery mode and that a few simple adjustments
easily got me 4 hours of screen-on time.. and you guys aren't me (definitely not proud of this addiction).. you'd probably get 4-5 off the jump with a clean install followed by turning off the nonsense.
Seriously... I am appointing myself PhD... nay, Pharmacist ... If you have problems with your stock build, Pm me, with reasonable detail describing the issue.
I am definitely going to regret this and will probably throw in the towel after a while.. but for the love of (insert special individual or super deity) please stop making new threads (yes.. Like this one... jerk..) about the same tired things..
If you do it just to talk with one another fine... but recognize appreciate that you have been offered a chance to fix your issues instead of scoffing at someone

There is no ICS bug that I have been made aware of that is actually on every release candidate. If you have had the same problem, on every build... which are in some
cases very different from one another... then let's examine the variables.. then let's read this

@Phaker
If you want to layer on top of what you did for even more performance + battery like you can grab tegrak (I know you got pay for it but worth it) switch governer to wheatley (assuming you have the latest TM Kernel installed) undervolt each step to -50mah (-75mah at each step works for me but can be unstable for other -50mah seems to be pretty universal) THEN overclock to 1.252ghz (let your ROM settle and do some usage tests) if 1.252 hold (which it should) push to 1.3ghz. Also for wifi go to setting advanced and set your sleep policy to either Never or Only when plugged in.
This is what I personally did that seems to fix all my major issues as far as huge battery drain. Finally allowing me device to go into a deep sleep and leave wifi on plus killer battery life & performance. And I am not running any custom scripts or anything......
SIDE NOTE:
After applying all these settings I left my phone off the charger last night. Went to bed with 95% battery. (mind you all my sync and even location services + maps everything is on) woke up 8 hour later and was down to 91% now that is some sexy deep sleepage and killer battery drain. This is what I would expect to see.
I try not to advertise when possible when I'm on here.
Just a preference, and I have exceptions.
Chainfires one example. I think we all owe him an app or two.. (I paid for 6 lmao only use 2)

1) settings/WiFi/(menu btn)/advanced/on when sleep=

So out of those 18 hours you never turned your screen on? Then you have a ghost of a phone bro! I've never seen that or anyone report that their phone turned on by itself with out getting a call or a text (if your phone is setup like that)... Maybe someone else will help you with more knowledge. No need to make multiple posts about your stuff either. Either here are or in the CM10 thread would've sufficed.
My phone will do this sometimes aswell, only thing that has worked is a reset when I discover it happening.

Unfortunately, I remember having this problem too, but I experienced it on stock ROM both before and after I rooted. I'd have my phone sitting idle nearby and the screen would come on for no reason and would stay on indefinitely regardless of the screen timeout settings, until I manually turned it off. Sometimes it would only happen every couple hours, other times it would happen every 10 minutes or so. Was a major pain in the ass.
Every time it happened, there was never a message or alert of any kind received that would explain the phone waking on its own.
Sadly I was never able to figure out the cause but the issue resolved itself much later on after I had to revive my phone from an unrelated soft brick.

People saying it happened to me too does no one any good besides upping their post count, and putting some comfort to the OP that he's alone... Maybe fart apps are the cause! My guess is something with in the stock firmware, as I stock and read every post of most of the AOSP based roms and never seen that before, but I occasionally read TouchWiz based rom threads and I might have something like that before. I've ran stock for maybe a total of a week since this phone came out, so it's easy for me to have never seen this before.

Hey buddy, I meant no ill words or anything. I usually am not hostile, I just don't text with attitude (Good or bad) really. People misunderstand that all the time, this is the internet, put your emotions away. I'm 100% serious. If people were to be more helpful then just saying "me too", the issue can be solved or at least have a reason of why it is happening. Post what roms/apps they are using, when the awakening happens, and what apps are running in the background.... those kind of post are helpful and can help pin point what is going on.
I'm having some type of similar issue as yours. Except my phone randomly reboots or just doesn't turn on at all. I've noticed this more recently then in the past.
My phone isn't over clocked or under volted. Governors that I am running are On demand and scheduler is on deadline.
I, too also get random and I mean random screen wake. I thought maybe my phone may be faulty? I read somewhere in the FAQ's section stating S3's with faulty power buttons? Does that have anything to do with this?
Also, OP, did you check to see if any apps are running in the background keeping the phone up? Or is it just randomly keeping the phone "on"?

I just got 2 and a half days off my new Anker. Try clearing the ram in task manager. Will help kill rogue apps. For some damn reason if I use slacker for 5 minutes even it will stay running for like 8 hours, even if I'm signed off. Something is draining your battery you just have to figure out what it is. Apps can get stuck running and kill your battery.
Something seems to be wrong, very wrong. How many hours has the screen been on? Unless the screen on time is +4,5 - 5 hours you need to find an app that more closely checks battery usage.

Up where it shows the % left and says discharging, tap on it and down at the bottom of the graph, does it show your phone being awake more than the screen is on? Maybe post a screen shot. You must have some crazy wakelocks going on. Like other guy said, check you battery and where it has that graph on it, click it and compare the awake with on-screen times and if not matching up and see more awake hash marks, then have a rouge app keeping the phone awake, which will hit on the battery.
Can do the Ram issue, however will come right back.
Honestly best way to do it, is reset phone/wipe and add one app back at a time.
I have wakelocks too, but nothing crazy. That and have an extended battery, so don't care to wipe yet.
Kind of a hassle, but probably your best option.

I agree. This is your FOURTH new thread related to battery? And in evey one you are told to get BBS and report in their thread yet you don't do it. All you are doing is cluttering the boards. Stop making new threads all the time for no reason. How many people have to tell you this before you listen?

How many people does it take to harass one guy? Apparently quite a few I'm reporting you all. Keep the thread topic related. Who cares if this is my fourth thread, apparently those few who have nothing else to do. I'm no longer responding to this thread. Goodbye.

Go ahead, report. Maybe a mod will finally pay attention to what you're doing. Read the forum rules. Or at least listen and follow the advice people give you. I swear you have a mental block in your brain and just don't get it. Like the kid on the playground that gets beat up every day yet comes back for more. We've all tried to help you but you don't listen. I'm over it.

This isn't help. Help is helping with my topic thread I don't need a constant reminder of the rules. You guys aren't mods so stop acting like em.

Or download better battery stats and post the logs here and some of us who can read it can help you out. Other wise everybody is taking shots in the dark trying to fix it

This is your answer to each and every battery thread you've started. This has been told to you each and every time. You have never done it. You do not need to start a new thread every time you have a question. Either take the advice people have given you or stop asking so many questions. Next time you have a battery related question go to the BBS thread and post your log. I swear, I hope i never see you post another battery thread again.
Is it just me or does anyone else seriously think this guy is trolling?
BTW, how's that BBS log coming along?
