[Q] Coredroid to IceColdSandwitch - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I had just updated my DHD rom from Coredroid 9.4 to the new IceColdSandwitch with the ICS android.
anyway, before i did that i backed up the SMS messages using titanium backup, but when I restored them, it didn't really restore them (even though the process went smoothly). Not even after a reboot.
Is the anyway of 'extracting' the backup files of the SMS messages and manually move them to where they are suppose to be in the ICS android ?
thanks,
shachar

check if your "[SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage" is the same version as the coredroid.
*edit*
i just checked, its not the same version obviously, coredroid is on ginger.... perhaps if you have a nandroid of the coredroid, try to backup using "sms backup & restore" app and restore it on your new ics...

Or reflash Coredroid, restore your SMS, then back them up again using the app mentioned above and restore to ICS with the same app.

Does Titanium Backup save SMS files and call logs?

Does anyone know if this is possible in Titanium Backup? Restoring handcent and losing sms tests suck.
Same problem
Clearly you are switching roms when you restore your phone, right? If so, I was having the same problems. If you switch roms, there is no guarantee that your call logs and sms/mms will transfer or be restored. If it is the same rom that you used to backup, then they should be restored. I started to use Sprite Backup after Titanium, to save my app settings, call logs, messages, multimedia messages and system settings before I change roms. Doesn't take long, compared to Titanium.
Here are a couple free apps I use in addition to Titanium backup...
One for call logs: http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/call-logs-backup-restore_bcpj.html
Another for SMS: http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/sms-backup-restore_beyk.html?nav=area
I've gone from stock 2.1 ROM, to DamageControl ROM, to 2.2 OTA rooted and in all cases, I was able to backup/restore my SMS/call log via Titanium Backup

Ditto. I've went from 2.1 ROMs to 2.2 ROMs... fresh and DC
and ive used a donated version of Titanium backup... and it restored sms and call logs.

I have the donated version. Is there a setting where you have to enable to save those? Did you do any full wipes (data/factory) when going from one rom to the next?
I use titanium donated version and its really nice....especially using apps2sd.

Wouldn't it be easier to use MyPhoneExplorer or a similar program to backup call logs, sms etc.?
MyBackup Pro can backup call logs and sms/mms. I normally use that to restore them. Haven't had any problems when I jump roms and from 2.1 to 2.2.
If you rely on TiBackup, then backing up and later restoring [SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage would restore all of the messages.
It just saved my day after Desire HD decided to completely wipe out my mmssms.db.
MyBackup Pro is perfect with titanium.

which option restores the call log?
i use sms backup & restore from the market its amazing..
backs them up and saves them to your sd card and you can re download the app and restore them after a flash..
I thought titanium backup can do this though

I've got a wicked easy way to keep your call logs:
1) Make a Google Calendar titled "Calls"
2) Set Calendar to sync, but not show, the Calls calendar.
3) Download and install CallTrack from the Market.
4) Open CallTrack, have it sync all calls to the Calls calendar.
5) Enjoy! Worst case scenario: You lose the call logs in the Phone app (or your dialer of choice), but at least you still have all incoming, outgoing, and missed call numbers in your Google Calendar.
As for SMS... I've just come to use Google Voice for everything except Tasker, MMS, and things which require shortcodes (Twitter mentions/DMs, MyCokeRewards, etc.).
I know of many other apps there can restore call logs but I was just wondering if titanium backup can do it, the less app the Better

I'm not certain, but I had issues restoring SMS/MMS across ROMs when I switched between an HTC based ROM and an AOSP ROM (e.g. switching from stock to Cyanogen wouldn't restore the data, but switching from stock to Frost worked fine). As a side note, you will have to reboot your phone before the data will show up.
Titanium on an n1
Just rooted my n1 and installed the cyanomod 6. lots of fun but i'm neglecting the kids. as mentioned above I used ti to backup and restore the messages and calls files:
[CONTACTS/CALLS] Contacts Storage 2.2.1 - calls?
[SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage 2.2.1 - messages?
Only gotcha was that I expected to see them immediately but it actually required a reboot. ROM Manager backup saved my restores and rebooted at the same time.

Voyager/ahill44 -
I'm running midNIGHT v5 ROM right now, based on EC05. Very similar interface to stock though. If I run the backup of SMS/MMS/APN Dialer Storage, will it restore my SMS messages if I'm flashed back to [rooted] stock EC05? I'm still on RFS file system, not EXT4.. it should work, correct?
Thanks!
*EDIT* - was able to find the originals in the TitaniumBackup folder, replace it with the ones from this morning, just reflashed and restored. Worked like a charm, THANK YOU

Full wipe.

Hi I want to ask if a full wipe will delete EVERYTHING in my memory card? Anyway can I back up my apps contacts and messages to restore them later? E.g. when changing roms yet I want my apps and contacts later.
Thanks

Full Wipe via ClockworkMod Recovery will delete everything excluding your SD Card partition. You can back up your apps + data with Titanium Backup or My Backup though it's always a safe way to only backup your data and manually installing all your apps after a full wipe and fresh ROM installation to avoid bootloops and FCs.
use this .zip for full wipe.
Hi,
Your contacts should be backuped / synced with google or FB another backup shouldn't be necessary.
For your massages you can use eg Go SMS (Market for free). In there is an option for backing up your massages to your SD. I'm using it and it works like charm!
rgds
If i use Full wipe1.3 , which i have already done so anyways to flash a rom with CWM would say Titanium Backup restore both paid and free apps to my Desire HD if i changed to a different ROM.
Eg im currently using Leedroid's Gingerbread Beta3 , but if i was to fullwipe then flash CM7 rc2 would i be able for example to restore XDA-app premium

[Q] Cyanogen 7.1 and HTC Sence

Hello, I have HTC Desire HD. I rooted the phone with Ace Hack Kit and installed Cyanogen on the phone. I have a few questions:
1. I did a rom backup with all my apps installed with ROM manager just before I did the install. Then I did the factory erase and did a rom backup again saving it under a different name. My question is when you do a rom backup does it backups everything such as your apps, messages in inbox...
2. On HTC I had HTC sence so If I lose my phone I would be able to trace it and lock it or erase it. Can I install this on Cyanogen?
3. I had some messages in inbox, but they didnt come back when I synhronized. I was wondering if they are stored somewhere in the rom backup and if I can extract them back or I can just install the rom backup?
Thank you all for help
1. Do not know about the sms/mms, but it backs up everything apps ect, and you will find those in clockwork recovery / restore / advanced restore / system /data (i think)
2. Go to the market and install Cerberus, its classed as a free app but it does ask for a 2euro donation to unlock all features, which is the cheapest app on the market for what it offers you in protection with out any monthly fees ect.
3. Text messages are not synced with google servers, if they are stored on the backup i dont know what they would be under maybe someone else can help you out with that one, but imo they are only text messages, im pretty sure it wont be long before someone else texts you again. (You could always in the future use smsbackup and just make a backup before you flash a new rom again)
Try titanium to back everything

SMS Backup and Restore
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mNvbS5yaXRlc2hzYWh1LlNNU0JhY2t1cFJlc3RvcmUiXQ..
Or SMS Backup + which also backs up MMS and call log
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS56ZWdvZ2dsZXMuc21zc3luYyJd
I have used this method long before I root my G2.
Edit: Also still using it daily with AAB5 as a backup in case TiB fails. So it works with ICS.
SMS Backup and Restore is the best one so far...I've used it for almost a year now and I change Roms far too often.

If your Sense install was rooted, two things I've used:
Titanium Backup : While it's mostly for backingup/restoring just about anything (apps, settings, data, sms, call logs, etc) it can be useful for just that.
Mobile Defense: Mainly as a device administrator, but it's backup/restore feature can restore SMS messages and call logs.

[Q] Titanium Backup Restoring apps

I have titanium back up (not the premium version, i might get it soon though) and i just flashed a new rom onto my phone. I had CS' CM7.2 and i now have ParanoidAndroid 1.9.8, when i goto restore apps, i click restore app+data, and it will just sit on restoring app forever. is it because i'm on a different version of android now, or am i doing something wrong?
Try deleting titanium then restore the app. Then try restoring your apps.
Sent from my HTC Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
I found this happens with some apps that are backed up in one version of android (i.e. GB) and restored on the other (ICS). Try to skip those apps and tibu should work fine.
Sent from my Kang Banged Dinc2
You should only restore app+data going from the same ROM to an updated version of the same ROM. ICS AOSP to another ICS ASOP is fine, but can't go Sense to ASOP or the other. Also, I don't recommend going from GB to ICS. You can restore the app with no issues, but not data.

Clear data for titanium & that should help. Happens from time to time. Also, what they ^^ said.
I have a few Question in titanium back up application.
How to make your first backup?
Subsequent backups
Backup Verification
Scheduled Backups
Hanging issues:
Menu
Preferences
Bottom of page in trouble shooting section (app proceeding)
Try indirect or interactive
