[Q] Titanium Backup Restoring apps - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I have titanium back up (not the premium version, i might get it soon though) and i just flashed a new rom onto my phone. I had CS' CM7.2 and i now have ParanoidAndroid 1.9.8, when i goto restore apps, i click restore app+data, and it will just sit on restoring app forever. is it because i'm on a different version of android now, or am i doing something wrong?

Try deleting titanium then restore the app. Then try restoring your apps.

I found this happens with some apps that are backed up in one version of android (i.e. GB) and restored on the other (ICS). Try to skip those apps and tibu should work fine.

You should only restore app+data going from the same ROM to an updated version of the same ROM. ICS AOSP to another ICS ASOP is fine, but can't go Sense to ASOP or the other. Also, I don't recommend going from GB to ICS. You can restore the app with no issues, but not data.

Clear data for titanium & that should help. Happens from time to time. Also, what they ^^ said.

I have a few Question in titanium back up application.
How to make your first backup?
Subsequent backups
Backup Verification
Scheduled Backups

Hanging issues:
Menu
Preferences
Bottom of page in trouble shooting section (app proceeding)
Try indirect or interactive

[Q] Titanium Backup

I know this is a noob question, but can someone please explain how to use Titanium Backup. I have been using Astro to backup my apps. I want to upgrade from CM6 to CM7 and I really don't feel like sitting here for 30 minutes pressing install for every app using Astro.
Buy the paid app because they free doesn't auto install. Then once it opens it will say backup and restore at the top click that then menu>batch>and backup all new apps and newer versions. Never backup or restore system apps it causes problems. Then once its done flash your new rom and really download titanium and click the top restore optionin the same menu page you backed up in. It should say restore missing apps with data. And you done

+1 for the paid version of TB. takesthe pain out of doing it all manually..
really tb does it automatically i always have to stay there pressing install..
Menu key-> batch restore... Beware of restoring data, as that can cause issues with your new rom.

Titanium Backup doesn't work. How to save apps + data of my apps?

Hey guys,
i really want to try out ICS but somehow Titanium Backup always freezws after a few apps while backing them up
What can I do now?
If it works for you, what version of Titanium Backup are you using?
Or is there another app that does the same (with market links)?
Thanks
Regards,
Flo

I use myphoneexplorer to make a backup of all my .apk files on my PC(also contacts, sms, notes, alarms)
I've had a recent upgrade of tb(4.9.0.2), but it didn't hugely improve the backup/restore ability on the recent ics releases. Works fine on the beta based roms, and cm9. Try app backup.
Does it always freeze into one specific app? Happens to me pretty often, you just have to exclude that app.
If that's not the case, try My Backup Pro. It is paid app.
titanium backup are so slow in ICS
and like to stuck in the middle
i'm back to GB.....
Used my MyBackup Root to back my stuff up.
But upgrading to ICS worked fine even without a wipe

Happened to me where I tried to freeze app and TB just froze.
Try reboot after installing TB.
Not entirely sure but could have something to do with busybox??? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but you can try update busybox if it doesn't work.
My Titanium Backup work normal on my ICS beta + office.
For me it only freezes sometime when restoring an app. Just force close it and try again.

Can I batch restore with Titanium after ICS update?

So i've been reading for over an hour and didn't find an answer to this so I guess it warrants a new thread.
I'm currently on Calkulin's 3.0 (EL29) Gingerbread Rom with Rouge 1.1.2 recovery.
So I planned on using Odin to flash stock EL29 tar. then manually update ICS (unless I get the OTA pushed automatically). Then plan on rooting ICS and adding CWM.
Two Questions:
1. Is that the best way to go about getting ICS?
2. After I update, root and reinstall Titanium Backup Pro can I batch restore everything I had or am I asking for trouble by doing that?
I don't have tons of apps but I did do Calkulin's "Bare Rom Converter" after installing his ROM. (not sure if that makes a difference).
I don't know about using batch titanium... To be safe I would use app backup and restore in play store to keep the apps you want and use titanium after you are running the rooted setup you choose, to then restore data to the apps. Never tried running batch this would be a safe method.

Just batch restore. Prefer to do App Only and then only restore data to things like games with progress or apps that would be a pain in the ass to configire.
The main area you would actually have trouble in anyways is restoring old data to a new version of an app. I always update before I backup and the only things I do not restore from a backup is titanium backup and any apps already installed. So you might try to restore data to say swype and there be a version difference.
Restoring game data should not be an issue, restoring system app data might give you massive grief through.
Thank you for your replies. I'll leave system apps alone and won't restore Titanium or Swype. I've updated everything from play store.
Might just restore downloaded apps & just one at a time.

Newbie - how do I keep apps and configuration in between flashing roms

I know it is a very newbie question, but how can I keep all the apps and configuration when I switch between roms? Does restoring from nandroid backup will restore the phone and configuration to back how it was? Thanks

nandroid backup will not keep the game data. use titanium backup that's the easiest way

Titanium backup will do the trick but sometimes when restoring old data I've had some issues with lots of force closes and some other unexplainable strange things going on. It's best to start fresh on a new rom.
Titanium backup is your answer
If you back up apps and data from your personally installed apps, restoring should not cause any problems. If you try to backup and restore system apps and data across different roms (ie tw and aosp), you're likely to experience some problems.
When it comes to system data, it can be hit or miss. Generally the only thing that will likely break is contacts, as each provider (samsung, htc) puts their own spin on it, and it tends to not be compatible. but if you use google to store your contacts, you should be golden. After some time you'll know which parts are compatible across all roms (within the same version family).
So, backup everything you want to keep. And make a full nandroid.
Install your new rom.
Restore your personal apps and data (like angry birds)
Make sure everything is golden.
Make a nandroid
One by one, restore any system data you want (like accounts, wifi access points, mms).
After each one, go through a reboot cycle, make sure everything works.
Nandroid and restore next system data
This way you can easily back out of a restore that breaks something without having to start over again. And you will get a feel for what's restorable and what isnt.
Beware changing back to 4.1 from 4.2. There are threads on this worth reading.
And, yes, nandroid will restore everything just like you had it, assuming you choose to backup -everything- (which is advisable).

Through philz CWM I'm currently having 3 roms in my back up. After installing a new rom, I just restore data and all my games data comes back without any problem.

[Q] Cleanest way to backup and restore Apps+Data?

So yesterday I used an App called System Control Pro to backup all my Apps+Data before I flashed SinlessRom coming from stock.
Flashed the ROM, reinstalled System Control Pro and restored the Apps+Data, but almost all the apps when opening them show the unfortunately the app is not responding force close message. The backup did a terrible job, although I did do a TWRP backup (Nandroid?) before flashing the rom.
Anyway what is the cleanest most stable solution to backing up the Apps+Data? After flashing ROM's I want my Apps+Data to be restored and working cleanly.
Should I be using something like Titanium Backup instead, or is there some other good apps out there?
Thanks
TB has always been very solid for me. I use it all of the time, and very very rarely has it ever failed me...but usually it was my error or oversight.
TB is nice, but it gets annoying having to restore each app separately. I tried TWRP nandoid, and when I did a factory reset, it messed up because of permission issues.
I used CWM recovery on my Nook Tablet, and it always worked for nandroid backups. Make an app+data backup, move the folder over to your computer, flash your rom, restore all your apps+data in CWM.
