So I've been using MIUI for a long time, as well as Tasker.
Recently, and this may be because I never tampered with these settings in Tasker before, I have noticed that any profile utilizing the "received text" event is completely ignored by Tasker.
I've narrowed down the issue to being associated with my ROM considering everyone else using Tasker has had zero difficulty with this.
Does anyone know what the problem might be/how to fix it?
Thanks in advanced
I have the same problem, seems to be a problem in the ROM. MIUI 1.6.24, HTC Desire Z. I guess MIUI changes the way texts are handled...
No solution for this? :S I have a Motorola Milestone 2 with MIUI and the same problem. Only solution is to stop using MIUI? ;___;
Oddly enough, I implemented a task in Tasker to show Accessibility settings; and it worked. I enabled Tasker and Accesibility in general. That still didn't work. I even did the Superuser app tweak to allow Tasker to monitor calls.
Balls.
I don't know if anyone else has come across this, but it seems that I can't get Tasker to actually stay running in the background - it loads up and allows me to create profiles etc, and after clicking the green tick to apply, the Tasker notification appears (to allow it to stay running), but after a few seconds it disappears. I've tried this both with profiles in the app, and after a clean reinstall of the app with nothing setup, and have the same experience.
I'm going to email a bug report to the developer, but just wanted to see if anyone else had also had this issue, to try and figure out what the cause is.

Could you tell me - are you both running stock ICS, or a custom ROM?
Stock Galaxy Nexus CDMA
There's a number of threads on the Google support group for Tasker re ICS issues, including notification icon disappearing. Pent's waiting on ICS for his Nexus S to look into it further.
I'm due to receive my GN tomorrow and am a *very* heavy Tasker user so will be interested to see whether I hit any issues..
Either way I have faith that Pent will sort it; he's never let us down before
the icon disappears sometimes for me but when a profile kicks in the icon comes back, so I think it does actually run. For me anyway.

Running fine for me, stock ICS, light usage (very new)
As for alsex87 I only have an icon when a profile is doing something.
Tasker work perfect in my phone.

Works fine on my GN too. Agree with other comments that it comes back when profiles change. So I'm pretty sure it's still running.
Well it's looking good so far for my setup; had to tweak tasks setting volume levels as I moved from an Atrix but everything else seems intact (including deactivating the lock screen when in 'sleep' mode). Will know for sure by the weekend.
Re: the notification icon, I have run in foreground unchecked and no icon showing. Doesn't seem to have had a negative effect so far..
It doesn't work for me. Same thing. Allows me to create a profile, but then keeps crashing.
Won't run at all for me, I was assuming it was an ICS compatibility issue. I kept waiting for an update but when I never got one, I figured I would google it. Well, I found here that it's working for most people, so I don't know what it is that's wrong.
I am a heavy Tasker user too. Just got my profiles installed. The "home" profile (wifi near) activates, then both the Tasker icon and my "home" icon disappear.
As a side question is there an easy way to copy the backup files from an old phones sd card to the Nexus? The SD card folder doesnt show up when I plug into my computer.

I've seen some people leaving it in MTP mode, but I have the best luck transferring files in PTP mode. When you plug it in to a computer, select the various modes by clicking on the USB symbol in the notification tray. Just don't switch it up while moving data.
This isn't immediately pertinent, but Locale (which I'd consider the predecessor to Tasker) seems to work fine. The only problem I have is that I can't split notification volume from ring volume (I silence emails at night but leave ringer on), but that's not Locale's fault as ICS itself doesn't seem to offer the option.

No, it is not possible. Car mode is useless; it is locked to use only htc locations or google for nav, and only tunein for streaming radio (even if you own TuneIn Pro.)
I'm usin Sygic and except for two silent crashes, it runs perfectly.

Nope, not in Car mode. Believe me, I've tried. TuneIn is disabled in Setings :: Apps, but can still be launched by the Car mode app, and can't be replaced. Nor is it ijntelligent enough to pick up favorites from the Pro version, so yoiu have to maintain two sets of favorites.

Also, you can install the Google Car mode instead of using the included one.
You'll be able to add and/or remove all the apps you want.
Works quite fine here, but a little laggy.

Yeah, I'll likely have to install a third-party Car mode. Makes me wonder though; supposedly HTC's Car mode pops up automatically when you use the car dock. I wonder if that can be disabled or changed to another program?

In settings under Dock mode there is an option "Default action". It has the following options:
Show HTC dock screen
Open app
Do nothing
When I press open app it doesn't let me select an app so I'm guessing it either opens car mode or (and I hope this is the one but I dont have a dock to test it) when you dock it it lets you select an app (for example google car) and saves the option.

CoPilot 8
Hi,
Anyone using CoPilot 8 with their One X? Recently installed it & works very well with the exception that I cannot access the bottom of the screen (menu, hide & exit options) because the 3 dot menu covers it. This occurs in both portrait & landscape modes.
Anyone experiencing this and is there a workaround? Noticed on ALK's website that there is an update for the HTC One X however believe this is only for Premium versions...
You can use Tasker to launch whatever config you want (including apps) when the phone is docked and undocked. Easiest way is to use a tasker profile to detect when the phone docs.
Got mine configured to launch Bluetooth to connect to my handsfree, shut of Wifi, turn the volume up to max and launch a sat nav app then undo all that when undocked. I stopped using the Car app when I found the limitations being described here.

Yes, that is what I use instead. Nuts to HTC’s Car Mode.
I’ve set up a ‘Car Mode On’ task and assigned it to a Tasker launch widget on a home screen. I press it and Tasker runs through the following;
1. Screen Brightness: 90%
2. GPS: On
3. Bluetooth: On
4. 3G: Off (I don’t need it for CoPilot, maps on SD card plus I don’t want e-mails etc distracting me. )
5. Auto Sync: Off (Same reasons as above)
6. Media Volume: 100%
7. Wait for 1 second
8. Launch App: CoPilot
I added step 7 as if CoPilot launches too soon after GPS has activated, it *****es up about GPS being off even though Tasker has turned it on. Stops the need bring up the menu just to turn GPS off and on again.
(On my previous phone (Desire S) I also had Tasker drop CPU back to 66% to prevent overheating. Doesn’t seem to work yet on One X but I’ll keep trying. I tested it using System Tuner. Told Tasker to drop CPU 0 to 760Mhz when System Tuner runs. I opened System Tuner, and although the slider for setting CPU speed had responded to Tasker’s command and had set to 760Mhz, I could see from the CPU monitor that it was still going up to 1.5Ghz.)
As this is just a Tasker Widget that executes a pre-set task, you don’t get the exit tasks turning everything back to normal when you end your journey and close CoPilot. So I added a ‘Car Mode Off’ Task and associated widget which basically reverses steps 1 to 6.

Response from ALK Support:
"We have been testing the fix for previous versions and a new update will be released in the next two weeks fixing that problem"
I just downloaded and setup Llama. So far it has been very handy in letting me adjust my settings based on whether I am at work or home.
However, I attempted to setup an event to toggle GPS on when I open the Maps application and to turn off GPS when I close the application. However, it doesn't do so! It did note that it cannot do this on ICS as the permissions to do so have changed. However, via Google Search, I did find some mention of it working for some people but they didn't say how.
Anyone here able to do that? If so, how? If not, any other suggestions (Tasker?) on how I can accomplish this?
It doesn't work on stock. Use custom ROM like CM.

You probably already got your answer or quit looking by now but you can toggle gps. You need to use the Secure Settings plugin from the Play Store. I think you might need to be a root user to unlock all the functionality as was mentioned before but mine works like a charm now.
Another great find for me was using the Smart Shortcuts app so that when I plug in my headphones, llama turns down my volume to a manageable level and pops up a list of apps (pandora, google music, stitcher...) I use my headphones with. I do the same for when I plug in any USB, it pops up with a link to care home or clock or my alarm app because I'm usually only plugging in at night or in the car.
I just wish I had some other ideas to look through. I'm sure there is a lot more this thing can do that I'm not thinking about.

I think there is an explanation in the app. Google changed how gps could be toggled. I gave up turning off gps a long time ago. It really only uses power when an app requests it and judging by the notification it's not very often. By default llama uses cell towers, but I use wifi to pin point my location. That way my Bluetooth doesn't turn off until I reach my driveway.

Hi,
In Sense ROM's with stock kernel, double clicking on the middle headset button is making call to last dialed number.
How can I disable this so that the headset control app's default action of going to next track in music player can happen?
I haven't found a way to fix it, even after speaking with the developers of the apps for changing it available on Play store.
Is it only with stock kernel this behaviour? I've never tried another kernel, but know custom ROM's do it - if a custom kernel is all that's needed, I'll be doing that tonight!

I believe it happens only on stock. I was on CM 10 nightlies for some time and double click for skipping next track worked flawlessly with jays headset control app.
I dont really understand why HTC has put this useless feature of making call on double click.
I don't think it's a 'feature', but something they've overlooked. Double clicking does actually skip the track, but then calls the last person, stopping the track. It's like it's doing two things at once.
Even when Jay's and Headset Button Controller, it completely ignores their overrides, which the dev of Headset Button Controller had no idea why it was happening, or how to fix.
It's a complete pain, I've called so many people accidentally, sometimes multiple times in a day
Suffering from the same problem!
I think only way out is to use a Rom like cyanogen.

Same problem here and it really sucks. Hope some ROM Dev can fix it.
I too have issues with this on stock JB. When I listen to Spotify and click once the stock music app starts playing and spotify stops. If i double click the latest dialed number is redialed and then hung up. On ICS those two would have been stop music and next track. Using Jay's Headset Control...

I had this problem on ICS but it was easily solved by useing headset driod. Scince upgradeing to JB headset droid wont override anymore and i get the double action of skipping track and redialing hapening.
Would love a fix for this was really enjoying the control the heaset droid app gave me for things like volume etc.
Quick bump, anyone had any luck? I just got the latest update (Released around 21st December I believe?) as my phone was off for repair, but this issue seems to still occur.
Anyone had any luck with a workaround/fix?

oh, remember to write all correctly or your keys will stop working after reboot, and so you will can't reboot (u will must use some reboot software)
Quick update guys, a copy-paste I posted below - basically the app now fixes it!
I was in touch with the dev of Headset Button Control (App in the Play Store) regarding an issue with redialling users when using the inline remote (explained more below). At the time, the button control app didn't work, and no resolution was available.
The dev mailed me back today to ask me to try the latest version - which works brilliant! It seems the app now redirects the dial to a 'fake' user, and then continues as normal - from a users end though, all you get is a working app!
App Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kober.headsetbutton&hl=en
Detailed Explanation of Issue: When using the inline headset remote and double clicking to go to next call, for some reason Sense redials the last user you had called. This results in a lot of annoying missed calls and unwanted calls, as well as wrecking the inline remote functions.
With this latest version of the Headset Button Control app, I've tested play, pause, double click for forward, triple click for back, and it all worked great. Big thanks to the dev for this release, as HTC have ignored the issue up to now ("Thanks for your feedback, we'll pass it on").
There's a free trial of the app, if you want to ensure it works!
I prefer apply the manual fix, actually I can (without it) change song with double click, but I can't increase or decrease volume
with the fix, instead, I can
Just a quick addition as I faced the exact same problem on my HTC one (stock ROM): Doubleclicking the headset button skipped the trackbut also called the last called number.
I installed the recommended app Headset Button Controller (Trial), and it indeed fixed the problem.
Then I uninstalled it and the fix still works!
Just so you know - big thank you to the devs of the app, though! I'm considering to purchase the app, even though I have no real use to it anymore, just to say thank you.
