Phone GTI9100 logo with a yellow triangle at start of boot. - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hey guys, quick question: somehow during my installation of the blue kuban rom I must have gotten a wrong file, and now when I boot my phone it says the wrong version. Everything seems to work fine, speeds seem to be much improved from my stock rooted leak builds. Should I even worry about this?

This happens when you use an unofficial kernel and flash it a certain way. Its not a big deal. You can get rid of it using a usb jig or the app Triangle Away if you are on an ICS based rom.

Thank you for your fast response. Your contributions here are great. I thought it was nothing to worry about, as all the files I used had my phone version in the file title. It doesn't bug me at all, still goes into awesome blu kuban boot animation. LOVING this rom.

Just a side note for people having troubles with flashing ics roms, I've found that sometimes you need to try a different link for the same files if the first one won't work right. Would have saved me 3 hours of reading and trying in this case lol. Live and learn

No problem, glad to have helped.

Am I the only one that finds it odd that he/she (sorry your user name isn't really gender specific) is still getting this? I haven't gotten it since hell flashing early gingerbread leaks on this phone....
(I'm not saying that you are doing anything wrong or implying that something is messed up. Just saying I haven't seen/heard about that problem in a while.)

Flash any Gingerbread CWM kernel through ODIN and you will have it. Flashing a leak will not cause it, its signed by Samsung. Nor will flashing anything through cwm/mobile odin. Easy enough to remove from ICS since most of the people getting it are getting it from flashing the EL26 CWM kernel by Chris41G to flash an ICS rom safely.

Thanks for the clarification Rain. That is exactly what I did.

I've been getting alot of problems with my phone missing phone calls and messages. My wife was next to me and called me 5times and my phone never rang. The 6th time around I turned on the screen and the call went through. Is there a problem the way the phone goes into that deep sleep? Im currently on starburst rom 1.7 with Chris Lostkernel.

Check this thread.
I know this is dumb but was your phone flipped over? I think it silences calls if you have the setting checked to silence when flipped over. I missed a few have kept it screen faced up and no missed calls. May or may not be why but anything can happen haha
Edit: nevermind just saw you dont get messages either i dont think that has anything to do what i said. Sorry!

What method did you use to factory reset?
why did you flash your modem anyways?
people cause more problems than cure them by messing with their radio files....

Currently once you flash the eg12 modem there is no way to go back to the eg30 modem.

I had the same issue after flashing the EG12 modem. The EG30 can not be pulled so you are stuck with it until a stock tar is released/leaked. My guess is as time goes on more and more will realize they have the same issues as well.

Not sure what I should do here...

Ok here's the situation and I'm looking for my best option as I have read quite a few conflicting posts. I am rooted with CWM running stock rooted EK02. Since yesterday I have been getting the new update pushed to me, and I keep ignoring it but its getting annoying. I have stuck with the stock rooted rom for so long because I like the fact that everything works...lol. So I was just curious what my best option here is, I'd prefer not having to re-root. Thanks for any help or opinions.

If you want to stay stock and rooted....flash the stock rooted EL29 ROM....it works great....it is the exact same as the OTA with root and busy box added

Thanks I appreciate it. I am thinking about just flashing another rom, but I want something that works as good as stock...just meaning that everything works, I'm by no means a fan of stock and I've rooted every device I've owned pretty much. I am not in a 4g service area so I don't care about that, but really need everything else. Any suggestions on a rom?...lol. Also if I flash a custom rom or if I do stock rooted EL29 will I still get the stupid push notification or can I block that or keep it from checking? Again I really appreciate the response.

Thanks a lot guys. Ill take a look at the threads and see which would be better for me. I'm honestly not a huge fan of stock at all except that everything works perfectly and I don't get random issues or force closes.

ICS Donation Pool 4 fully Working Rom????

Does anybody remembered the tread we had for Whoever Brought a fully Working ICS rom to our e4gt Will Get a Donation Pool...I try looking for it but i wasnt able to find it maybe this way devs will work harder now that we got an Alpha Built Of CM9 Last i remember we were at 2gs
These never work out.

Not to be a downer, but, the chances of this turning out any different than 99% of every other bounty thread in the history of XDA are almost zero...
...but I'm an optimist.

This thread is classic. I bet the first to "get a fully working ICS" is Samsung when they release the official OTA lol. Before that i dont really see it happening without a nice leak. I mean i bet the current ICS wont be running real smooth with good battery % and all aspects working correctly without having a device specific leak from sammy. Miracle happen on occasion, i call them Dev's some times. Oh ya, some one said Vagina, some one said penis. Yall forgot Booty

[DEV] We have Blaze root & Radio

Literally 10 minutes ago got a blaze rooted.
Lots of screen sharing and adb work.
CWM is a scrambled mess because of the drivers, but everything else works.
Radio files are pulled, just need somewhere to host them for everyone...
LB7 RADIO! - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572198
huh?
sounds like you're in the wrong phone section... this is SGS2 T989, not Blaze
yes, but lots of t989 users are awaiting the radio flash
I'm so confused.
dont worry about it
Myself and a few users worked blindly with him to get that phone rooted..
Ignore the OP and keep it moving
It was just info passed to a similar phone just incase anyone had it
blindly is an understatement.
I wanna try the radio!!
Powered by the SGSII....
I can tell you that it does work on the t989 ....
anything special about this radio?

No guide, our method was really really really UGLY, I used a very large hammer, but it worked, may not release the method we used ... too much potential for people to "Think" their phone is bricked.
We really were not rooting for the sake of rooting, just wanted to get the radio files out of it, so it was a very nasty way to root .....
And Recovery ends up fubar'd , but workable ....

with Telus
the difference not much faster, but more stable
however this location it's known to be slow or capped due the amount of users in the area
so i'll run another test again later in a fast area to verify
from an unrestricted location
with LB7
with KID
you can again easily see a more stable average than with the KID or Telus modem, and of course faster than either one to boot.
the only thing remaining to see is how it fairs with battery life using LB7 on the long term

Haven't tried it yet. I've been on an ICS kick lately (can't remember the last time I was on GB, it's been that long). Just curious if anyone had tried it out and if there was anything special about it. May try it later today if I get bored
So I decided to download both spitemare and team broccoli roms.
I flashed Team Broccoli's rom which is ICS. A huge step up from from protekks versions which I flashed last night, lost battery percent every minute. I'm getting the same battery life as Cm9 as far as I can tell and its got all the AOKP customizations.
But.. before you flash it, well reboot it.. you need to apply Pon's test fix.
I'm going to test out Cm7 right now, if anyone has any information on Team Broccoli and where they are located I want to know, they have done a magnificent job.

I used to run AOKPCB (what it's called) at least half for the Circuit Board theme. They're experiencing some down time, but should be back shortly. I'm currently on AOKP b40 with the CB theme, and will be back on AOKPCB on their next release.
