How to open the OneX and more - HTC One X

I was boring so i fount THIS video about repairing the screen.
I could never do that to my OneX, it would break my heart lol But in the video it looks like we have a replaceable battery now we just have to wait that someone makes a battery with the same dimensions and 2500 mAh
It looks easy to open it ... realy good to know this

Also you can purchase housings for it so if your housing gets cracked or dirty you can replace it.

sadly, I only need two things for this phone: a new battery cover and a better screen (i got a bad one). Unfortunately this only comes with one of those things, and Im not pain $85 for a battery cover. (not sure Id know how to install a screen even if it DID have one).

80 dollars for a COVER. Not the full housing, just the cover? thats ridiculous. Especially when my student account with amazon ships for free.

yeah, but a heck of a lot better than $80. Ill message the seller and see if he might be willing to negotiate that price some, too. Who knows, some are.
Side note, anybody know of any skins that might cover over the small scratches on my backplate that might be cheaper than $40?
You could try some vynil skins/stickers? Easily found on Ebay too.
Or just get a case to cover it up.

If you have a malfunction of the housing due to manufacturer defect then you can return it for a replacement. My housing was squeaking around the buttons and I'm returning it for that reason, outside of the remorse period. But if your phone is less than one year old (which all of these are) it's covered by warranty. Call Tmo customer support and complain until they give you a new one.
I'd like one just to make it look better...
I'm thinking about getting this phone, and would like a white one IF it wasn't two shades of grey in the back.
I've replaced quite a few housings on phones I've owned (BB Pearl, T-Mo G1, and a T-Mo Mytouch) - my big hesitation would be disassembling a phone that's under warranty, which I haven't done before...
...but a little electroplating, and the metal pieces on the back could be copper color (and matching) instead of mismatched shades of grey.. plus white.. plus chrome on the front (which might also be able to be plated).
Don't know if it's worth $100 plus voiding my warranty... though I'm a big fan of customizing things...

or let me put it like this, does/did your screen turn off fast and instantly when you pushed the button or did it dim out at a nice smooth pace?

So I guess you want to know if you have the wide or thin ribbon cable? The only way to tell is to open your phone up, but the more common cable is the thin one.
evo lcd
i would think to look what hardware you have in phone info 002 003 whatever
can anyone verify this? I bought a a screen and housing but the its the thick cable and I need the thin one. I knew I took a gamble but lost. So I was hoping on buying another evo with a broken screen and just replace the motherboard, but would like to know if there is anyway to have the seller check which one he has without having him open it.
going on 2 weeks with no EVO
jerryparid said:
1. Connect PC to Evo in charge/development mode; then adb shell dmesg > evoinfo.txt. Look for "novatec" or "epson" in the txt file
or
2. Download terminal emulator from market, type dmesg, find "novatec" or epson" in the output
or
3. Add HTC Power Widget, change the screen brightness. Instant change = Epson, gradual/fading change = Novatec

Did you buy the screen and housing from a reputable seller on Ebay? If you did he should be more than happy to exchange the wide cable for the thin one for you.
In any case, I would think the screen/housing would be cheaper than even a cracked screen evo, unless you get an amazing deal.

He's not a dealer just had a refurbished housing and screen. I think i'm done messing with it. I'll buy a used working EVO and sell the housing I just bought and sell my broken EVO for parts.

Be careful: HTC One X - Broken screen

Hey Guys..
Just alittle warning. I dropped my Htc one x from my pocket as i was walking on the street and as you see the glass broke. I am somewhat disappointed, I expected that it could withstand the impact, but no.
Further, i was informed by 3 differnt repair shops that it is impossible to get it repaired because there are no parts made for the phone yet.
One of the guys told me that htc not prioritize this particularly high.
Well i had a nice week with it tho
Ah man that's a real shame I dropped my Desire countless times over the 2 years I had it and it ended up with a 4mm long hairline scratch on the screen. I guess it's the price you pay for the curved glass - less protection round the edges.
Yea i guess i was unlucky. But im back on my old desire now hehe
Might have been alight if you had a case on it.
John.

By the damage it looks like it hit the side, that case will protect against that, he said he wanted something stylish and light.
I have ordered a white version of the case below, it should give good all-round protection including the camera, and give fantastic grip from all those nobbles.

The battery is not the stock one, its also fake. I think the real capacity is 200-500 mah. I was on 50%, took a picture, 20% left. Horrible battery life. Stock battery is awesome though.

that's what I mean..
you do better buy a new original one with less mah if you want a second battery, than a more ''powerfull'' remake..

need a new lcd & digitizer

just thought i would post this here in case someone is in need of a new lcd,,i have been reconditioning the htc and with replacing the lcd on the htc one x iv always found that all the replacement screen i have had in the past the back,,, home,,,menu buttons lights dont work,,this is because on the original screen there are three little dividers between the digitizer and lcd,,which the replacement ones dont have
here is a good quality replacement lcd & digitizer for under £40 wich has the dividers installed and all the lights work
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-...406&pid=100015&prg=1006&rk=1&sd=271218303977&
not so much dividers as refractive plastic - like optic fibre that guides the light from the leds to the buttons. Why the leds arent over the buttons in the first place ....
well ye that explains it better,,but still the same thing the lights dont work properly with out them....
I just bought this one to fix mine - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310674066973?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
