I received a notification that I had an OTA update and tried to installed it. Got a white triangle warning sign with a green droid.
I was given to believe it was because I was rooted. The question is I don't know how to unroot my phone.
I connected fastboot and did a fastboot oem lock so I have now a locked bootloader again but tried to install the RUU from HTCDev and it said my ROM wasn't yet supported. I'm lost. Can someone help me?
GSM, rooted, unlocked bootloader through HTCDev and GSM phone.
The update is OTA_Marvel_S_Vodafone_GR_2.26.168.1-2.14.168.2. I don't know what are the advantages of this update and I can't find a changelog for these OTA updates.

Hi,
Just some general questions, I have only had my HOX for two weeks, not new to rooting and flashing
However find this device is more complicated than previous desire.
Anyway my questions for info if possible, I have checked my HOX which is S-ON, not unlocked bootloader yet
Or rooted or anything, my cid as stated in title is HTC_001, hboot is 1.12, so should I unlock my bootloader
And flash away, until offical ota in update. Or leave bootloader until jb update.
I am concerned that if I don't unlock the bootloader that after the ota jb update, I won't be able to unlock
My bootloader.
Hope this makes sense...

Since we have no method to achieve s-off currently.
The only alternative was unlocking bootloader through htcdev in official way.
Hence, you can do it anytime if you wanted..

Ok so even if I wait for the ota jb update from HTC, I will still be able to unlock my bootloader
And not have any issues regardless of my hboot updating, HTC can't stop me unlocking
My bootloader using their development site.
Ps thanks for the reply.

Hello, i have unlocked bootloader of my HTC One X with CID _032.
I have tried one Custom Rom with JellyBean and after i have returned on custom ICS Rom.
Now, when i try to upgrade phone with official OTA upgrade, the phone stuck on fastboot screen.
Bootloader is relocked.
Any idea to upgrade the phone with official OTA upgrade?
1) you need to be on a stock ROM to apply the upgrade (it won't work if you're on a custom ICS ROM as it sounds like you are).
2) you need to be on a stock recovery to apply the upgrade (it won't work if you're on cwm/twrp as it sounds like you might be).
There's plenty of "how to return to stock" threads around if either of the above apply.
I have relocked the bootloader and i am returned on stock recovery...
But when i reboot to install update, the phone stuck on fastboot screen, and i see on up "bootloader relocked-security warning"
What is the problem?

The "bootloader relocked security warning" message is normal, it will always show that when the bootloader has been unlocked then locked again. That's nothing to worry about.
You are running a stock ROM yes?
Hello
whenever I go into the bootloader it says bootloader unlocked, bootloader secureboot and fail in big blue letters. Because of that i cannot install any updates.
I tried unlocking the bootloader but it didn't help.
what can I do?
Hi
I need to send my phone back for a warranty repair but I am confused about the exact steps to take.
My phone is currently S-OFF, rooted, has a TWRP recovery installed and has the latest Vodafone (VODAP001) stock rom installed.
What steps and in what order should I act in order to be left with a phone with a LOCKED boot loader (not RELOCKED/TAMPERED), unrooted and S-ON?
The instructions in a particular online link talk of locking the bootloader and then flashing an RUU but I can't find one for my Vodafone variant. (CID: VODAP001)
I have been going round in circles for the last few hours.
At one point I did lock the bootloader and then did the s-on but ended up in a boot loop to the bootloader - (probably because I forgot to unroot?)! Rescued it using the HTC Bootloader unlock code, reset and then rerunning Sunshine for S-OFF.
I can't seem to work out what to do without an RUU file.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Can I install usa official htc 10 unlocked rom on my unlocked htc 10 bought from uae?
Hmm, If you're rooted then yes
- Root either by sunshine or by unlocking the bootloader and flashing TWRP recovery then root..
- Change the CID & MID to match those for US Unlocked
- Flash the latest Android 6 RUU for US Unlocked
- Run the OTA to upgrade to 7 Nougat.
Note that if you used Sunshine then it's better to S-Off the phone also.. doing so will allow you to downgrade in case you didn't like the newer rom.
I'm S-Off and rooted, did not unlock the BL...
Changed the CID & MID, flashed the US Unlocked Android 6, updated using OTA to Nougat the I did a factory reset to keep Nougat as clean as possible & finally rooted with Magisk (SuperSU didn't do it, the phone keeps rebooting in a loop, restoring TWRP backup did not help either)

Good advice but a there are a few things that are not accurate:
1- Root only will not let you change CID or MID, you need S-Off for that.
2- To achieve S-Off the most simple method is Sunshine (paid app, $25).
3- S-Off doesn't require to be rooted previously if you're in an old version of Android, the app applies a temporary root to achieve S-Off, once S-Off'd the root is removed.
4- The only case where you will require permanent root is on latest version of Android, check the Sunshine web site to see which is the latest version temp root works on, is very probable Sunshine's temp root will work on a Marshmallow phone.
5- There is already a Nougat RUU for US unlocked, no need to run an old RUU and OTA if you can go to the latest version from the start.
