KF Will Not Charge - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ever since I rooted my KF, I've been having charging issues. When I plug it into the wall charger it will not charge but when I plug it into the computer via USB cable, it will charge.
I booted Into FFF and restore to stock and still the same problem.

I made a backup of my stock rom before I flashed a custom rom.

Did you wipe before restoring to stock if not maybe you have transmited some issue to the restore process

Yep. It's not just with the stock rom.

I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?vk4uuk

so how did you wipe? And have you tried both charging via usb and charging with the stock wall charger?

also boot into twrp and leave it on the stock wall charger for a hour see if your battery level doesnt rise

This post from the Kindle Fire forum may help your problem.

[Q] Brick: black screen

I just made an attempt at installing CM9 on my KF.
I used TWRP and thought I had downloaded FFF but throughout the whole process have yet to see the yellow triangle, so I probably do not have that installed afterall.
Anyway, just after I installed CM9 through TWRP, I hit reboot and was greeted with the kindle fire logo for a couple of seconds, then a black screen. The screen remains black until I power off. The power light turns on, and there is no difference between connecting to my computer via USB or using the wall charger.
I'm running Windows 7 with limited command line know-how; I've gotten this far by using Kindle Fire Utility.
When connecting my Kindle now, the computer doesn't seem to recognize it. It plays the little USB sound when plugged in/out, but that's it. When I try to do "adb devices" it no longer detects my Kindle, which has me a little worried.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm sure I can't be the only one with this problem but I've been Googling without finding a solution that works.
Thanks!
did you wipe before flashing rom and gapps?
Hold your power button for 30 seconds then let off power back on tell me in detail what you see? The new fff is white kindle logo with blue fire logo when you see this push your power button a few times till you get a tiny boot menu at the bottom select recovery.
Well if you get to that point I suggest you wipe factory/ data reset wipe dalvik wipe cache and try reflashing your rom and gapps then reboot select system hope youll be good if not repeat this process to include wiping the system as well then reflash.

I did wipe before flashing and then after the install I did whatever wipe/clear option there was before rebooting.
When holding the power button, the kindle powers off after 10-15 seconds. I kept holding but nothing else happened. Powering it on was the same as usual: the regular kindle fire logo for a few seconds, then a backlit black screen, which remains

Aha, sorry. I believe it is the one found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411895
as it has the same file name and showed up on my browser history. I was installing from instructions on lilliputing, unaware that there were different processes for different files.
This rom is old and hasn't been updated in a while, can you get into twrp
If so boot into twrp
Plug in your kindle to your computer and mount usb storage to transfer a different rom to your kindles sdcard
Then wipe whatever the Roms instructions say to do and flash
Reboot and see if it works

Unfortunately, I can't boot into TWRP, and my computer will not recognize the Kindle. I have all the drivers installed fine but it only recognizes it as a "portable device" with which I can do nothing.
With all the information I've given, does it seem like I could fix the issue with a factory cable? If that's the only answer I don't mind buying one. Since I had TWRP installed, would I be able to access it with a factory cable?

yah I know what will help since you cannot access recovery you need to get a bootloader on that so you can. you will need to fastboot flash a bootloader on it. I know you dont flash a zip because that will brick you bad worse than you are now.

How do I do that? I don't have a lot of experience with this and given that I've failed the first time around I'm wary of doing anything without completely understanding the process first. Do I need a factory cable to do this, and if so, what would I do once I have one? Where can I find the bootloader?
wait till someone can tell you with more experience than I for flashing a bootloader.

although there is a chance that you can power off your device start up kfu select the option to install fff and when it says waiting for device plug it in and hopefully it will push fff to your kindle when the utility detects it in fastboot. If it spits out some dialogue and your kindle reboots and you see a white kindle with a blue fire you will know its a success then you will be able to access recovery to fix what you messed up the first time
---------- Post added at 12:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:12 PM ----------
its a longshot but Im doubtful it could hurt
---------- Post added at 12:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:16 PM ----------
otherwise wait till someone can give you exact instructions like soupmagnet or kinfauns on how to fastboot flash a bootloader because its unclear to me yet in the meanwhile setting up a live usb with linux will sort out all your driver problems then you wont have to worry abot that part at least http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1670405
---------- Post added at 12:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:22 PM ----------
just a side note you do the bootloader thing wrong you will create one of the hardest bricks to get out of IMO now you are only soft bricked it is fixable
---------- Post added at 12:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:25 PM ----------
also if you already see a white kindle and a blue fire logo then push your power button a few times till you get a boot menu select recovery this will take you into twrp. If so post back your problem isnt that bad

TWRP.img won't download in KFU

Hello, I'm trying to root my kindle fire 6.3.1 . I've got the drivers install and the device is recognized as adb online while in the newest version of the kindle fire utility. When I proceed to install the permanent root the utility attempts to download TWRP about 11 times and then just gives up. So basically I'm stuck at that step. Any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Where'd you get your instructions from and what version of the utility are you using?
I'm getting the same problem using v0.9.6, the site listed for downloading the file no longer seems to exist, I can't seem to find this version anywhere, there is a newer version but it does not work with KFU because the MD5 doesn't match.
How long have you been try now I wonder if its not just a server issue or error

I've been trying all day today, the entire site that hosts the file appears to be down. I have been trying some different things editing the files.log and run.bat, but I cant seem to get the newer version of twrp working with it, it keeps giving an MD5 error.

Thanks for the files, I took your twrp.img file and put it in my folder and everything worked, hopefully the download site will come back up soon so other people don't have this problem.
Oh and make a backup after twrp and fff are installed that you will later rename noroot631 before flashing roms wipe everything except your SD card factory reset. ,cache, dalvik, system, flash rom zip flash gapps zip reboot and enjoy ...
thanks for the files. after your dry run reply i thought i'd try one more time before downloading the files and got the same thing. except now i'm stuck in fast boot mode. i restarted the KFU to activate normal boot but now it is just hanging and "waiting for the device"
Simply just leave it connected power it off and power it on and it will find it

Sort of unbricked...bootlooping @ CM logo...

So, I wanted to flash stock firmware and ended up doing something wrong and kept getting "No OS installed" in TWRP (newest version). I couldnt flash anything and my 1st gen Kindle fire would get stuck on "kindle fire" logo. Finally mounted the tablet via TWRP and transfered the latest nightly of CM to the tablet. After flashing it, I am getting an error saying "E:Cannot mount /data" Now when I boot I get the CM boot logo (YAY! progress) but it is stuck in bootloop at the logo. I've tried KFU and the Unbrick utility, but the unbrick utility keeps saying "device offline" even though when I use "adb devices" from CMD it lists it as there. I'm glad I finally got past the kindle fire logo, but now I'm stuck at CM logo. Is this do to the error about not being able to mount data? How can I fix this? Thanks to anyone who can help a brotha out. :good::fingers-crossed:

Same problem
I have the same issues @sd_shadow . My Twrp version is v2.8.1.0 . Bootloader version is v2.05. PC version is 8.1.
Also, the device manager on the PC labels the Kindle when mounted as 'Amazon Otterx'. I followed the steps up till wiping partitions in recovery. But when it comes to pushing cm or gapps, I am unable to do it.
Thanks in advance.
