Looking for a replacement - HTC One X

I crack my screen and i need to know what part i need to buy to replace the screen.
Only glass o the complete screen?
Thanks so much!!!
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

replacement glass can be bought on ebay. but the glass and lcd are attached so it is very expensive to repair, and pretty much the same price as sending it to htc
also, there are no instructions on how to do it yourself and it is a very tricky job as the phone components are all attached to the screen assembly

if i was you id try and return it. say it was a manufacturers error and you heard creaking since you had it but only now it kinda really got damaged....just come up with a story and see if they will replace it or fix it for you under warranty

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=120923974368&index=11&nav=SEARCH&nid=02098378757
This is not very expensive and the lcd is not attached, can i only replace the glass right?
Thanks

Screen replacement warning

Just a heads up to anyone about to replace the htc one x digitizer lens, it is not user seperatable from the lcd screen, It will break at the weekest point which is the lcd itself,
damage will occur as shown in the video below (person in video fails to admit he damaged the screen during the recording)
I would go through insurance for ease or if you really want to replace yourself get the lcd and digitizer already put together on ebay as even lifting the lcd off the chassis will crack the fragile screen no matter how careful you are.
Haha he ripped the screen right off lol.

The maker of this video posted it here to a while ago and he did mention to order lcd+digitizer in one and not screen or digitizer seperately
Thanks i did not know that, me and my friend followed the guide (stupidly didnt watch the whole way through first) and his screen ripped apart at the same time as the video user, just letting other people know so they dont make the same mistake

[Q]Screen damage

Unfortunately my beloved's screen sustained a sever damage
I would like to try and fix it by myself and need to know what do I have to replace
The device works fine
Screen glass is splintered but responds to touch quiet alright
A small yellow spot In the center
Does the yellow spot mean that the board under the glass is damaged as well ... or I can save it by replacing glass only ?
At eBay I find two options
Full LCD Display + Touch Screen Digitizer Assembly - 80 $
New Touch Screen Digitizer Glass Assembly - 30 $
Do you Know whether the parts over at Ebay are quality ... or should I not mess with it and pay full price by sending my beloved to a HTC lab ?
Grieving badly :crying: and waiting for some help
It doesn't seem to be possible to separate the glass from the LCD, without damaging LCD. No idea whether the screens you're looking at on eBay are the same as original or just compatible.
The only thing I can offer is that I replaced my screen on the desire HD and for the time effort and quality I wish I'd sent it off
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium HD app
Don't mess with it, my experience was with my hd2 and it was a nightmare and would of been cheaper letting htc do it, also I have read horror stories about cheap screens being sold for the one x

OK guys
I think I'll leave it for HTC even though the price will probably be a killer
Thanx

The only way I was able to fix mine was to buy an lcd, digitizer and screen in one. Theyre all bonded together, you cant replace just the glass. Cost me 89.00 on ebay for part only

Yeah the two parts are fused together. I read some stuff about cheap/fake gorrila glass units on ebay so I sent mine straight to Samsung for repair. Cost 180$ including shipping to and from. Even the "oem" screen digitizers cost 200–300 on Amazon or cell repair sites.

Sorry to hear that. You can get part and fix it yourself. Save some buck or take it to bestbuy or radioshack.
I am also sending mine in for fixing. What I would like to know is if they will replace the metal frame that goes around the phone mine has a big dent from the fall I think its called the bezel? Anyone know if this gets replaced when samsaung fixes the screen.

Yeah it took a good week. It looks and feels like brand new. They even replaced the button at the bottom. And about the comment of just getting good a refurbished one in return... Check your serial afterward. I got my original phone back. And to folks who offer to fix these my main concern is genuine oem parts. Some ppl have said after they fix there's the phone simply doesn't feel like it's oem state.
Dose anyone know if I can replace only the digitizer?? All the tutorials I see online is replacement of LCD and Digitizer..
Digitizers are $25 on ebay Digitizer and LCDs are over $200...
After further investigation I found out why you can't replace just the glass..

Samsung Galaxy S3 Screen Repair
Acutally there are several tutorials on just replacing the screen. It is a bit tedious and will require patience but is very doable. From all I see, the outer metal/chrome/etc frame is part of the digitizer is and will not be part of the screen only replacement. Screen assemblies alone are around $30 on Ebay

link? I need one now.
the price for the replace screen is so expensive
YOU CANNOT JUST REPLACE THE GLASS OR JUST REPLACE THE LCD! THEY ARE FUSED TOGETHER!
IN ORDER TO UNFUSE THEM YOU NEED AN OVEN DESIGNED JUST FOR THAT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO IT ON YOUR OWN!
Buying just the glass is a scam and will not work!!!!!!!! YOU MUST BUY THE GLASS WITH THE LCD FUSED TO IT ALREADY!

Shattered Glass

Well, today was a say day for me, for I dropped my HOX on some concrete and shattered the glass, phone still works and lcd isn't damaged... but I was wondering if theres anyone here who knows a decent repair centers in the UK, i've seen this http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/2511...ixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&adtype=pla&crdt=0 and i'm pretty sure thats all I need... I could even try myself
Perhsps HTC can sell us an original part, we could also ask for s one x+ battery. I don't know how much the one x digitisee and glass replacement would cost. The whole svren inc LCD is 160 IIRC so probably less than 100?
I also.have a damaged screen. My concern is whether the. Parts are really originals as claimed, be cause I'd like a real gorilla glass panel. Also, how do I reconnect the connectors I have to unplug to get the screen . Presumably it's obvious otherwise it would have been mentioned in repair guides.
HTC may repair and sell originals, how much for I don't know.
My LCD appears fine usually, but sometimes there is a yellow tint to some of the screen, presumably related to epoxy glue. Also I was pressing down on the Screen and now one of the cracks appear slightly blue Around the edges, not sure if this will change if I replace.
Finally I saw a story on xdA I think of a guy who Bricked his while trying to replace the screen.

From what I have seen in One X screen replacement videos and read in this and other forums the digitizer is not easily separable from the LCD. So most probably you'll have to replace the whole display assembly (i.e digitizer + LCD screen).
Nope
None of the replacement parts in this thread so far are close to genuine, and will be cheap crap.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320929331645?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
This is what a genuine replacement looks like, and costs. If it's under £100, forget it; it's crap. If it comes as separate parts, it's crap. The One X screen is bonded at the factory across the entire area of the screen - you will never get a good screen if you assemble it yourself, or even if a repair centre does it. You'll get an air gap between the LCD and digitizer, and therefore it will look awful in daylight.

Call up HTC. I've done some research, seems to agree with what is posted above.
I feel your pain.. I have a small crack on the side of my S3 screen. How bad is it? If its smalland on the side check out an overlay Luke by Spectre. They are about 4mm thick and are cut to cover the whole face of the screen

My friend, this is the same horror that i faced and yet not recovered completely from its impact.... The problem is with your touchscreen a.k.a digitizer which probably would have been known to you(as you mentioned you have googled a lot).My best advice is to change it in HTC service center itself, bcause i bought it in market and fixed it(though i was very careful in following each and every step) after few days of ruf-tuf usage the problem showed up again...So go for HTC Service they are the best doctors..
Before you buy new digitizer
and only if your warrenty has expired, try to open the phone (there is enough youtube videos), remove the digitizer and look at the black soft plstic ribbon that goes around the front plastic panel (the one that protects the lcd).
If it is little loose and not hard tight to the frame you can use a piece of plastic to attach it to the frame and check the touch responses again (that worked for me...)
else, buy a new digitizer (about 4-5 USD in eBay).

I've done a HTC wildfire digitizer swap before its fairly straight forward I found a guy on eBay from Poland I believe that sold pre-Cut stickers for attaching the digitizer to the LCD. I would have a look if you can and get one of them if you intend to move forward with the replacement, just make sure to remove as much of the excess glue from the old sticker first
