[Q] Highest clock speed - HTC Wildfire S

I am looking to overclock my CPU to the highest possible MHz without melting my phone, so does anyone have an idea on what is the highest clock speed I can achieve without killing my phone?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

highest overclock is 806mhz according given thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294101
and read #6 miguelca 's post.its very useful about overclocking your wfs.

actually the highest overclock so far for the wfs is 864mhz, but is very unstable. The fastest and somewhat stable is 825mhz

Thank you for the help fellas, I think I'll clock to 768 MHz as I want the extra bit of performance with out killing the CPU

yeah it ll be good for yr phone.higher overclocking can brick your phone.768MHz is better and standard overclocking for wfs.

CPU Governor

The galaxy has a big jump from 400Mhz to 800Mhz. Is it possible by modifying the kernel to an intermediate step (600Mhz) or is the hardware limitation?
Thanks in advance

I think you should read the title... I mean the governor of the cpu. It has various speeds to save energy...
Yes. I beleive SetCPU can do this. I haven't tested though.
I think its possible, I've just added one scaling from 100,200,400,800,1000,1200
SetCPU can do that

Only with a stock kernel? So why I can only choose 100-200-400-800-1000 speeds? The ideal would be that it can be set to 600MHz, plenty of power for everyday use
You would have to change the cpu multiplier in order to get a frequency in that range.
You can't change it without adding 600 MHz in the source. SetCPU can only choose the speeds given to it by the source code. I wouldn't be too worried about it though. It only speeds up for as long as it needs to complete a task then it's usually back down to 100 MHz.

That is the question. The more intensive use it is when I use the web browser. And would have the necessary fluidity 600Mhz spending less to have it running a while to 800Mhz.
Anyway I see that the overclock is the same as a PC, with the difference of having to modify the kernel. Time will tell if any of those that modify the kernel have the same need and put it.
PD. Google Translate rules...I'm spaniard...

Hello !
A good CPU governor is design to get most CPU performance and save energy without altering too much reactivity (=introducing latency)
This is why the governor jump "as quick as possible" to high frequencies.
BTW, the quickest the CPU calculates the operation asked, the sooner it can go back to deep sleeping states.
Setting a maximum cpu frequency other than 1GHz (800MHz, 600...) is counter productive.
You'll loose both speed and autonomy because the CPU won't be so often in deepest power saving states.
(you'll find many studies about this )

[Q] [Q?] [HTC: Buzz] Regarding CM7 CPU Settings

Hello Guys, I have searched along the internet and on XDA Forums and still have found no answer to my very specific question please try not to get frustrated with me as I have had no previous experience on Forums before and i know little about Android although I am an IT student and I do understand most technical terms and situations.
My Specs:
HTC Wildfire (Buzz)
Cyanogen MOD 7 Latest version (Stable, Not Nightly)
My Question:
I need to know what to do regarding my CPU speeds as I know that CM7 comes with the CPU Settings Functionality but I do not know what settings would be best for my Buzz for example my Buzz is quite slow and I want it to be faster for games and such and I know that I will need to increase the CPU speed to obtain this so what I would like to know is:
What "Available Governors" should I use (To speed up my phone)
What Min and Max frequency should I use?
Thank you for your help in advance and please try not to be too harsh on me :/
It can be anything your phone is stable at. For some, it is stable at 768, but, for others, the phone gets unstable at above 710/729, so, there are no "recommended" settings globally. Try from 672 and go one step higher till the phone is stable. For governors, you can use SmartassV2.
But remember though, OC'ing will only bring marginal performance games. Don't expect your games to start running smoothly after OC, because, it won't. It's not for the 528MHz default CPU speed, but it because of the lack of a GPU chip.
the best frequency for wildfire is 691 MHz, "no lags no bugs"©
Iam having overclocking about 633 MHz.....and if u r an IT student u should know increasing speed upto 700 MHz can be too dangerous....be in 600 MHz and try to not disturb governors as cm7 is a battery drainer and if u r willing to change governor then ur next thread will be battery draining lol....

True but disagreed, I can get 2 to 3 days on my current setup at 728 mhz running stable and fast, using the"interactive"governor...however go with 3xeno s above for now because every persons setup is different and will determine how far you can overclock.

Some handset support and some dosen`t.....I think I had low quality HTC wildfire that's why I can't overclock it....good luck...

I have overclocked buzz to 748 max n 672 min it runs perfectly smooth n lag free
howevr i hv tested a step at a time
current governererformance
battery:1.5 days(average use)
What minimum speed did you select? I've just lowered the default to 176 MHz (previously/default 264 MHz), but I've read that a minimum speed below 200 MHz could even be worse than keeping it at 200 MHz. But then, this has been told about the Samsung Galaxy S which clocks a lot higher than the 614 MHz I selected for my Wildfire.

[SETTINGS] Overclock / CPU & GPU Settings

Hey Guys,
I think this will be a good thread to start for reference to overclock and voltage settings of the CPU and GPU! I will try and provide a nice template for you to follow, to make it easy to read and understand and post your settings.
I'll Start with my settings: **** please note that i am not responsible for anything that goes wrong on YOUR phone if you decide to use any setting from this thread ****

what is this any description will highly be appreciated
With all due respect, Useless thread, every chip is unique in its own way, Some can undervolt/overclock really high, and some can't, Just like your PC CPU, I can undervolt it really high where my friend who bought his CPU with me can't match my undervolting at all.
For 200 to 1600 Mhz frequencies I uv each by 75-100 mv
while for oc frequencies, I run the 2GHz at 1325 or 1300
For gpu, I oc each step by 2 options.

Safest undervolt

Hey was wondering if anyone knows off by hand the lowest we can undervolt our phones @ stock freq or what our stock voltages are? I undervolted mine recently and got amazing results but stability seems to vary, using overclock freqs @ 1.89 running @ 1.087 mv 1.83 @ 1.05mv 1.78 @ 1.0375 1.7 @ 1.025 mv I seem to be fully stable pulling 28905 scores on anutu, my friends s4 isn't even this fast was very impressed phones not even hot at all, but I really want to try to tweak the lower freq to help with battery life/temp
solution to the battery drain problem
Overclocking the CPU frequency will lead to battery drain as u know it yourself....don't download any of the battery savers as they are useless .....try Greenify....bcoz it works....and it just is too awesome.....
Undervolted and got these results with anutu, impressive, looks like undervolting gets good results
Stock Speeds 1.7ghz -> 1.050
Barely over Stock 1.78ghz -> 1.075
Mild overclock 1.836ghz -> 1.0875
Higher overclock 1.89ghz -> 1.100 (highest anutu score)
Pushing it 1.944 ghz -> 1.250 (yielded a score the same as 1.89ghz)
what kernel were you using here and ROM? thanks

[Q] how much can you overclock the cpu?

I noticed that I can only overclock the CPU from 1.9 GHZ to 2.1 GHZ with skyhigh kernel. Is there anyway to get it higher?

Not with my kernels.
99% of devices won't be stable above that and in any case will not provide any great benefit.
I did have GPU higher but is really a waste and with CPU, due to higher temps invoking thermal throttle, leading to decrease in overall benchmark/performance.
Through my extensive testing, having anything higher than my current max CPU and GPU frequency = PLACEBO
Edit: Maybe things might change compiling with Lollipop source (once released), but unlikely. Obviously I will test though

ok thank you. What about the GPU, any benefits for overclocking it?
Maybe when opening the case and adding some cooling mod to CPU/GPU, the overclocking will do better.
