Hi. My HOX is having a data signal issue where it wont connect sometimes, gets no signal when it should and shows a signal but wont connect to the internet.
It seemed fine before 1.28 but ever since 1.28 it had this problem. I thought 1.29 would fix this issue as i thinks it's software related but no. My wifi signal is perfect so its not hardware? I did the squeeze test to see if it affects the network signal but it doesn't.
I've looked around the site but cant find a full 1.29 rom and instructions. Can anyone provide me with a link please? Otherwise I'm gunna have to send this HOX back too(4th). Which is starting to get annoying!
Thanks Andy
You are on a 1.29 ROM now, correct? If so, you should back up all your data then do a factory data restore. This can be done by going to Settings >.Storage - factory data reset.

Thanks for the reply. I should of already said I have done a hard reset, no change. I think the installation files are corrupted or something?
What software build are you on at the mo?
I'm on 1.29. Locked unbranded and on 3. Most people have said use a custom rom because the radio version from 1.28 is bad. But this will void my warranty right? I think i'm gunna need a warranty with the one x!

Full build version? If 1.29.401.11 then use the relevant RUU

Yes thats the version. Can I just manually update the radio on the on x with this?

Hello fellow hox xda people... I am very stuck in this situation, gutted because I love my hox.
It started when I lost my phone signal for a few hours.. stupidly in a panic I tried to flash stock recovery to try and fix it.. then I noticed my imei and baseband showing as "unknown".. I have relocked and run the ruu but the problem still remains.. I fear u have somehow corrupted the radio partition...
It isn't the sim because that works in another phone, I have tried another sim but still no signal.
I sent it to HTC to repair under warranty but because it had been relocked the won't touch it without me paying £150 to replace main board..
Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts?
I am waiting for the next official update to come and see if writing the new radio will fix it...

Seems like you've screwed your IMEI. This happened to me on the SGS2 where my EFS got corrupted luckily I had saved my EFS and managed to flash it back.
Not sure if this method also applies to HTC products, or it could be your phone has a hardware fault. If they are trying to charge you then nothing you can do I'm afraid then just cough up especially if it is a corrupted EFS.
Edit : EFS only applies to the Samsung phones, seems like your radio is screwed, if you still have your phone there is a radio thread on the development section, flash a radio again and it might just restore it back.

Thank-you for your reply... I did notice similar problems with gs2 when doing research on Google. I have looked at the radio which leads me to think I may be up the proverbial creak... I did try flashing the new leaked radio but with no luck... I do have quite a bit of blind faith in the up coming official update... is there a way of formatting the radio partition and the ruu re-writing it?

We can't really do anything in regards to that as we have no S-OFF. Where we can flash radios and rils. Still clueless how it would have damaged it as we don't have S-OFF.

Just relock your bootloader, flash with an RUU (branded or unbranded) and everything should be fine. This kind of thing happens once in a while. It happened with my S II and Sensation back in the day
Hi, and thank-you for your response. I have tried that numerous time but still have the same problem, I have flashed the leaked radio too on various roms to no avail..

That's very odd. That's what I've always done when my IMEI or baseband goes missing. Flashing the official OEM ROM usually writes the ROM, kernel and the baseband if I'm not mistaken. Kinda like when you flash a OEM firmware to the iPhone. It writes over everything hence why you have to use a custom ROM that doesn't update the baseband if you want to preserve your SIM unlock.
I installed Android Revolution HD 7.2.1 the other day (nice ROM by the way). Decided I wanted the benfits of Francos r12 kernel. Flashed it and then had no GSM signal. Baseband and IMEI were both unknown. Thought to myself "f*^k here we go again".
Downloaded this. Went back into the bootloader. Relocked it via adb. Then whilst still in the bootloader, I clicked on the RUU that I downloaded from here.
Once everything booted back up, had GSM, IMEI and baseband back. Proceeded to unlock the bootloader and flash ARDH 7.2.1 again but left out Francos kernel for the time being lol.
More for the legal heads etc. here, but HTC-Dev's website states:
Why is my security still on (S-On) after I have unlocked my bootloader?
Your device is shipped with Security on (S-ON) to protect your system software configuration (such as the bootloader, radio, boot, recovery, system and others). After you have unlocked the bootloader, however, you will have lifted the restrictions on boot, recovery and system. This means you can customize boot, recovery and system images on your phone as you desire. You can easily see that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader by looking at the top of the screen when entering the bootloader screen. Security is left on to protect things like the radio, and SIM lock.
If you should require support, please feel free to contact us via the support section of our website, http://www.htc.com

It specifically says security is left on to protect the radio etc. - surely this should then be covered by HTC as, according to them, there's no way we could break it. The way I see it, either their 'security' didn't work, or the problem isn't caused by a bootloader unlock?
Hahaha! I couldn't help it. I just had to flash Francos r12 kernel again and what do you know? No IMEI and baseband. All good though. Restored from a nand backup I did earlier this evening and all is well again. Downloaded the kernel again just to make sure the md5 wasn't bung, flashed and same thing happened again. So when you get your HOX working again, don't flash Francos r12 kernel lol.

That applies to every device apart from, maybe, Tegra3. The radio might be accessible.
have the same insuee... yesterday i pick my phone and it has no signal...i think no problem reboot the phone...and no changes.. after i see that imei is unknown and baseband too... the phone with or without sim when i open sim slot says that has a problem to see the sim.. root relock flash stock and other roms is not helped -.-
sorry for my english guys.. but seriosly i tryed a lot of things nothing to do -.-
now i'm downloading an old RUU for flash it to change the radio...
If I'm not mistaken you can't roll back the radio using an old ruu.. I think I tried but it failed. I have also flashed the latest ota update but that didn't work either.. beginning to think its hardware as the weekend before it first happen it was dropped onto its screen from chair height with no immediate problems or damage... really struggling with this..

Not trying to start a flame war or anything, but this is why I stopped buying HTC phones and went with the S3. Because ever since they started with this HTCDev garbage, modding your phone became ridiculously difficult.
no way need s-off to downgrade hboot... s-off is not possible for now.. w/o javacard......i don't have idea what to do.. then f-.ck all.. drop my hand down and monday send my phone to htc and cross the fingers for free repair...
p.s. i think..to go to an phone store and say that i wanna see an one x white/grey and change it accendentely.. (stupid and illegal but can work )
edit: it's hardware fault i think..
Hey, i have an issue with a htc one x, that i got softbricked used from someone, i managed to unbrick it and everything, but now it seems the radio wont boot up and i get either no signal or no signal and reboots (on cm10).
This is the logcat from cm10 http://bpaste.net/show/5mi1SYLOz3tmscCyS9DP/
the hboot is 1.12, is unlocked, s-on, radio 2.1204.135.20 .
does anyone know what to do? I have already flashed the stock RUU of the same version that was on (by getting getvar in fastboot), but still no radio signal (it says no service on the lockscreen, with a working sim inserted), wifi on the other hand is working well
assuming it was htc dev unlocked, probably if i bring it to warranty they will claim its void and ill have to pay for it ?
if i go under about phone and check baseband version i get unknown...
Thanks
Just a ques but I remember with first custom Maximus Jelly Bean rom by Football the radio wasn't working because it didn't match HBOOT.
I would recommend upgrade HBOOT again and flash one of the latest custom Jelly Bean roms from >> HERE.
And HERE's a easy and nice Jelly Bean firmware flasher thanks to Stuart0001.
I hope for you the device CID is correct to flash Jelly Bean.
And about bringing the device back to HTC for warrantee my ques is it will be voided but you never know.

Yes the CID actually fits for the firmware for JB, did you look at the paste link i gave, at line 170, do you know what Ebl is? i believe there is the error, possibly really an incompatibility with hboot and radio?
But i cannot find much documentation on it in combination to the htc one x, i only found this in relation to xgold http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483053 , it seems the one x has the same baseband?
I have actually tried the fully stock ruu (ics based) that was supposed to come with it (flashed it as the wiki suggests), but i have the same issue/error, i even tried cm9 and it has the same issue.
Is hboot 1.12 outdated actually ? Im asking all of this, because i dont want to flash the 1.28 hboot and than i will only be able to use jb roms that still wont work =/
thanks again
If HBOOT is upgraded it's not possible to downgrade with a earlier ICS version unless you have a S-Off machine.
So you keep getting a radio and hboot mismatch.
What I'm trying to say is:
You flashed stock rom to try fix radio but because your device is S-ON hboot is locked and doesn't downgrade, it stays 1.12
CM10 roms are based on earlier HBOOT as well so if I'm not mistaking you won't fix the radio like that neither.
Your stuck atm I ques and only way is to flash to latest Jelly Bean, then the radio will work.
About the log, I'm not a Android expert mate, they don't say me much to be honest.

yeah i know that, but my hboot is old 1.12 and the radio seems to be for ICS as well, since its from this RUU RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.17.401.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed.exe
Apparently this RUU has the 1.12 hboot as default as well as the radio that i have on as default. Thats why im wondering why its not working.
I have seen one more thing though, the cpu is constantly at full speed and it wont scale down (doesnt matter which rom)
ICS HBOOT is 0.96 if I remember correct.

k thanks all, just to let you know i dropepd the phone off at the store for warranty, will see what they say... will update once i know more, in case somone else gets this weird error ever again ^ ^
I have the exact same problem.
I was updating my hboot to 1.28 (sucessfully), then installed InsertCion 11.5.0 and then i had the symptoms mentioned in the first post.
So since i am already on the newest hboot with the most recent JB rom running im kind of out of options here.
I will be trying some stuff and will post here if I get it working again.
What is worrying me is that neither the baseband nor the imei are known to the phone.
I would be glad if anyone knows how to solve this problem.
thx in advance.

Seems to be a rather common problem, I've got the same issue.
Hboot 1.12 and I can't get the radio working, I'm on CM10 and any ROM I try still not getting any luck.
Does any one have any fresh suggestions to fix our phones?
so to post back as promised, i brought the phone for warranty approx 2 weeks ago and called them today, since they didnt call me and it seemed weird to me and they told me the motherboard has to be swapped, to my luck under warranty. So i guess the x-gold checksum failure combined with nonworking cpu scaling must be more than just a bad software flash.

I see one thing in common here, the guy from whom i bought the phone had Insertcoin on it installed as well. Now i dont want to point fingers or anything (as i dont know what else the guy did to the phone), but for now this seems to be the only common point.
From the log that i have put up it seems that the radio cannot start due to a checksum error (in the firmware?), as i wanted to warranty it, i didnt flash a newer radio firmware (but reflashing the same version didnt help).
For me the IMEI and Firmware version were missing as well (probably those get reported only after the radio gets booted, which in this case cant)
Btw did you see the nonworking cpu scaling as well?

I dont really have a suggestion, other than to relock and flash the stock RUU on it and bring it in for warranty, for me they didnt do any issues and said they are just waiting for the motherboard they ordered to replace it under warranty terms (to no cost for me).
I do believe that either the radio firmware is borked (checksum error) or that this thing has something like a cpu firmware (sort of bios in pcs) for the tegra3 chipset which controls both the power scaling and checks the radio and has some corruption in it... Anything beyond this is just speculation.
These two posts might hold some anwsers if you know what you are doing:

As it seems that the one X has the same modem (X-gold 626 from intel) as the sgs2 and several other phones.
But as it seems that even the official repair center needs to replace the motherboard instead of just reflashing some firmware (one would i assume they have the proper tools/SBK to do s-off and flash whatever they like in whatever version they like), it might be that some regulators or that the radio broke physically due to bad quality or such
Hi all
Feels like this might be too simple for this thread but I had a similar problem recently on my stock One X - I had no service and my radio wouldn't turn on. I resolved it by turning off Fast boot (Settings - Power)
hey buddy... it didnt solved my prob.. anyone got the solution for the GSM Services Radio Off .. ??
Hi guys,
Since a few days my touchscreen is not working properly anymore. It automatically presses certain points on the screen, without me even touching the phone. This means I can't even type a whatsapp message propertly without my phone randomly typing gibberisch.Sometimes, when I haven't touched the phone for a while, it works perfectly well.. And then after some usage the touchscreen starts acting on its own again. I also think the issues happen on the lowest 1cm of the screen (where your quickbar is with the icons of dialing etc). That part is unresponsive most of the times.
I tried several solutions (other rom, other kernel etc.) that didn't work. Since this morning, I upgraded my hboot to 1.39 (release keys 3.20.401.3) and the problem still persists. Even in my recovery (Philz recovery 5.0.5) the touchscreen automatically presses certain points on the screen.
Any of you guys have any idea on how to fix this? I am clueless right now .
Phone details:
International HTC One X
Hboot 1.39
Software: 3.20.401.3
CID: HTC__E11
Baseband: 5.1204.162A.29
If it ain't a software problem, it's gonna to the hardware that's at fault here!
I would suggest to get your phone back to full stock and then send it to HTC under warranty...!

Will they accept it? Since I totally rooted it . And which RUU should I use to go back to stock?
Is it a hardware related issue then? Ive read many posts of people complaining about the touchscreen.. That would be a coincidence, wouldnt it?
EDIT: Sometimes, when I haven't touched the phone for a while, it works perfectly well.. And then after some usage the touchscreen starts acting on its own again.. Maybe that might change your view a bit

Post the result of fastboot getvar version-main
We will find a suitable RUU or nandroid backup for your device...
All I can say is: If you have the latest JB Hboot, all roms should work fine. and you've also tried flashing multi roms... Can't be that all roms have the same problem... So it's gotta be hardware related...
Now you can try one last time... Fully wipe (data/cache/dalvic/format system) the device in recovery... flash the boot.img via fastboot and then flash the rom via recovery and see if it fixes it...
if everything else fails... Return to stock (rom+ recovery), lock your bootloader and send it for warranty!

Not coincidence but a design issue. I'm currently having trouble with the touch buttons. The symptoms are similar to yours in that it's an intermittent problem. I'm sure it's a hardware fault, I was just hoping it was a loose cable or something inside that I could fix myself. But having fiddled with all the cables already and not had any improvement I've pretty much conceded that this isn't going to be the case.

Pff, I think I'm kinda done with HTC and their crappy designs . This is the second HTC phone I'm having issues with. Guess my next phone will be a Samsung.. I guess I can live with TouchWiz over Sense, though I think Sense is a lot better..

Well you just unlucky m8! I'm sure once you've used HTC phones, you wouldn't find sammy's plastic finish phones attractive
ahh so your on the latest base is it? (3.20.401.3)... No RUU for your device, you will need to restore a nandroid backup.. Sorry didn't read it! here's the backup : https://mega.co.nz/#!tsYj0DSK!T65wiGBygge4w-AOwEjxvUcZ2ytvdxhj2EKXgOT7Oao
Yes... flash boot.img.. wipe everything in recovery and then restore the backup... After that flash this stock recovery : https://www.dropbox.com/s/xzshnnuz3jdcodv/stock recovery 3.14.img and then finally lock the bootloader!
It will be full stock (rom + recovery) with locked bootloader... Yes, you can send it to HTC after doing these things but there's always the chance of warranty getting void because of the **Relocked** bootloader... But worth a try! Besides, there's nothing you can do...

Thanks a lot mate.. Seems my phone has less frequent issues atm. So I'll try if I can manage with it. If not, I'll go back to stock, see if the problem still persists and then send it back to HTC..
Hmmm ohkk ! Do keep us posted! :good:
Alright it has been a few days since I created this post.. Phone seems to have stabilized a bit. Yesterday I experienced the weird behavior 1 time and today I didn't experience it at all. However, I think I might have found some kind of pattern in the strange behavior. Whenever I have had my phone with me in my pocket for a while, the problems seem to start. Also when my phone is in my car holder, so basically any vertical position. When my phone is on my desk all day, I don't have any problems at all...
So yea.. Most likely a hardware related issue..
I was also fond of HTC and their phones, but with the One X, they kind of ruined my positive view.. I totally love Sense, but the build quality of the One X is far, far below my expectations. For my next phone, I am seriously considering changing to Samsung, depending on the issues with the HTC One (since my contract ends next year, I will probably get a next generation phone)..
What's is your opinion on HTC nowadays?
Hi
I don't think it's the hardware problem, because TOO MANY people have this problem. So do I. I already did post this issue before http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41820803 (see the video what my phone does) but all I got was "return it to HTC"
After I did dig a little I found some posts where people say I should downgrade the touch panel firmware - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159863
I can't do S-OFF I always get stuck at error 99 no matter what I do.. maybe you should try downgrading the touch panel and see if that fixes the problem.. do please let me know.. thanks..
another guy I messaged wrote to me I should try ViperXL ROM, he also could not get his phone to S-OFF:
"ViperXL rom is based on telus HTC one x, (HOX evita), which works fine on all US and Canadian hox phones. It has all the firmware and everything else required including sense, so it will work on your phone. I was in the worst situation as there was no OS on my phone and I could not find the original OTA, but this rom worked like a charm. Give it a shot."
so I think I'm gonna try the ViperXL..and see..

An Evita rom won't work on a tegra device. Nor downgrading the touchpanel without s-off
so no luck again.. thanks

I can't watch your video.. it's private .. I still think this is a hardware related problem, as it happened to me in recovery as well. The reason many people experience this issue, is because of the crappy design by HTC I guess.

I did this earlier tonight and it looks like the touchscreen issues are gone! . I'll report back in a day or so to notify whether the issues are permanently solved, but looking good so far!.
What could possibly the cause of this issue? Touchscreen driver in the kernel? If we find a solution, maybe rom developers can add it to their roms, so people with similar issues and I can start using custom roms again
EDIT: Problems started again today . Seems like I have to send it to HTC...
Hi,
I'm really having trouble with my HOX.. This is the limited edition HOX (half black and half white) Cushnie et ochs.
Problem:
-Stuck on airplane mode(turning off)
-No IMEI and Baseband
-Heats up
--Sometimes network signal shows up (imei and baseband shows up as well) BUT can't receive/send message or can't make calls (when this happens it doesn't heat up)
--It worked one time but back to the same problem when rebooted
Details:
-ENDEAVORU PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
CID-111111111
HBOOT 1.39.0000
RADIO 5.1204.162A.29
-Acquired with a superCID
-unlocked
-currently running ViperX 4.0.5
Actions taken:
-RUU
-Flashed custom ROMs
-Flashed boot.img's
-Flashed kernel's
-Flashed lower radio version(doesn't seem to have an effect coz radio in HBOOT is the same as in Settings.(compared when baseband appeared)
-Wiped everything that needs to be wiped
--Still no luck--
----Can't flash a nandroid backup coz i don't have one(if somebody can point me to the right direction i will flash it immediately)
Hoping somebody here will and can help me.
Thanks in advance!
Hoping somebody will help me..
Can't flash nandroid backup coz i don't have one and i don't know whaT to download because i don't know the original CID of this HOX if it matters.
2 months ago I receive 2 hox have problem like you. No imei, baseband. Still wifi. Stuck in airplane mode. No sim card detect. I try to re flash ruu, rom, radio but nothing better. Last try, i use box to s-off both hox, after that i try to downgrade the radio version of hox, one hox become normal. One hox still problem. After few day contact htc and friend, they confirm some hox have problem with hardware. Finnaly, i replace a new hox mainboard.
I think u should return it to htc for mainboard replace. It is a hardware problem

You are S-OFF you can install any RUU just download the 3.18.401.x RUU install on your hox and see what will happend after this. Receive the update to 4.2.2 and everything will be stock and you will see if the problem it's still there.

You can't. It's just a update, not a full rom. Do you try androidruu website? You can download sense 4 android 4.0.4 for low radio. Or just download radio img and flash it via bootloader.
I think it possible

Yup searched there already.. 3.14 is the latest there... Downgraded radio earlier as per instruction but nothing happened. Battery drained very fast, from 100% to 69% in a few minutes(10-15 mins)

Sorry my mistake install this RUU 3.14.401.31 and see what will happend
EDIT: If nothing changed go to ICS rom and see what will happend if nothing changed maybe is a hardware fault.
When you run fastboot getvar all are you see the IMEI in information?

I already tried that RUU.. Will try ICS RUU later.. Yes I see the IMEI in fastboot getvar all. Will let you know what will happen after I Flash ICS later. Will still download it.
Ok. Battery drain very fast because phone alway search signal but stuck in airplane. Is your phone hotter than normal phone on the top speaker?
Get var all alway display the imei and baseband, it's normal with other phone. But it't cannot show in phone when boot into rom
I think problem is not a rom.
Some information i hear about china, they remove the cpu tegra 3 and replace other and it become normal. I haven't test yet because i don't have a tegra 3 cpu for replace
