Hey all!
I was looking for extended batteries for my Samsung Vibrant and I stumbled accross this awesome battery auction.
Now don't get TOO excited. This is just a $6 off of the final price of the battery. The battery itself is NOT out yet (will be VERY VERY soon) so he is just selling a $6 off of the price for $1. I talked with the seller and I got the specs for the battery.
Type: Lithiun-ion Polymer Battery, 3.7V
Size: 10mm thickness (1cm). Original battery is 6mm (0.6cm) thick so this is not TOO much fatter.
Capacity: 2800mah
Retail price (without coupon): $36
PRICE INCLUDES A BLACK BACK DOOR.
It is currently in production in manufacturing and should be out on the market very soon. If you're interested in the $6 coupon off the $36, click here.
Man I cannot wait. This is my only complaint with the vibrant as it stands!

I wonder if the new battery door will make the back flush by eliminating the small hump at the bottom of the phone? I love when Ebay is a source of new products. Who makes the beast?
Not sure on manufacturer yet but should be clear soon enough.
hmm... hard to put money down on an item that you don't even know how it looks like
they really need to post some pics of the item along with how the back sits
You guys just need to install juice defender. I can go 36 hours with moderate use without having to charge.

+1 on Juice Defender
Here's a screenshot of my battery life in the last 36 hours. I still have 9% remaining, so keep in mind that I can get 2+ hours.
what settings are you using to get that?
Man that app is really kinda confusing to figure out. I mean you can by tinkering, but wow.
Dang man, I installed juice defender and it EFFED my phone! It became so laggy that I couldn't really use it at all it took me a full 15 minutes just to get into the app manager to uninstall it...
Not sure what else you may have done to your phone but I have Juice Defender (Ultimate) on my Vibrant and my Wife's Slide and it works great. Since I get a lot of mail, text, and IM's I still can't go a full day but I am getting about double the battery life I had before I started using it.
Dont know if i would be comfortable with a thicker phone... an extra 5MM or so is rather thick. and i wouldnt be able to put it in my nice case that just came in the mail.
I got a car charger and USB cable for my desk at work and i just charge it as i need it. Mostly since im new to android and always playing with the damn thing is the reason i run low.
Another vote for Juice Defender/Ultimate Juice. On the weekends, my phone lasts over 30 hours with moderate use. During the week at work is somewhat of a different story. Running BT, music, and having to deal with poor service inside (phone constantly going in and out of service), I'm still able to get about 12-14 hours.
Overall a great app though.
As far as a thicker battery.....meh. Would definitely have to see the size difference first. And if it still fit in a case.
I think that battery is BS. It wouldnt fit in the phone.
Besides the weight you'll also have trouble finding a case to hold it.
I'm going the route of constructing a back-up battery using 4 AA rechargeable batteries NiMH (4x 1.2V = 5V, with 2800mAh AAs).
Got one of these with leads, on/off switch and cover. You can also get a squarish holder if you don't like the side-by-side layout.
I'll solder it to a mini USB cable, then use a mini to micro converter so that I can also charge mini USB phones. Parts ~$5 in parts.
If you want a fully assembled 4x AA one you can buy it here and here. They also have 1x AA and 2x AA versions, but I don't know how well those work.
Found this 2400mAh battery for the Vibrant here. Price is $59 and the picture doesn't look like the actual product.
I was thinking about gettin a bigger battery but then i found 2x BATTERY+dock CHARGER FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY S Vibrant # on ebay for 10$ and i thought i could just throw a spare battery in my pocket just in case my phone run out.
But..Are theses batteries as good and reliable as original one or the ones that phone store sell? Have you guys experienced any battery that sell for that low cost?
How about this one?

Do we have any word on whether the GNex will have an Extended battery option? I know the battery and door are removable, but that's a necessary thing for if I'm going to be using this phone.
The holy grail, of course, would be pics of the phone with an extended battery, but that may not happen until well after release.
Im only looking for hopefully an extended oem battery. If not ill prolly just pick up one or two regular batteries depending on how good or bad it is.

Does this mean your going naked
Extended batteries are going to be an issue with this phone. An NFC issue that is, since the antenna circuit is embedded on the plastic cover. Either Samsung would have to engineer a thicker replacement, or someone like Mugen that makes their extended battery cover doors as close to the original design as possible. Inexpensive third party makes would probably forego the design and manufacturing costs, to produce a cover only, but that would eliminate one of the great new functionalities in ICS.
I am watching closely the developments in this, but for now I am planning to have my chargers within arms reach (car, work, solar)...

The only thing better than an extended battery is an actual case that fits it.
http://store.androidcentral.com/sei...ttery-case-fits-2750--3200-mah/4A145A8486.htm
Unless the Galaxy Nexus really takes off (not likely, even with VZW), we probably won't see any advanced type of battery + case combo.
I have to be on the go 20+ hours a day sometimes and I cannot spend all of my time babysitting a phone. As much as I want this thing, without an extended battery and a good case, it just won't fit my needs.

Simple, every night charge the phone and a spare battery in an external charger. At 3 PM when the first battery dies, swap in the other. Unless you don't put the phone down all day, 2 batteries should be enough. If you need a little extra, turn off the lte radio when you can get by on 3g.

way too much work, I usually go with extended batteries so I don't have to worry about it. The added 1/4 or 1/6th of an inch doesn't bother me, but having to replace batteries, waiting for the phone to reboot is just annoying.
Still no word on the extended battery front for the GNex?
Battery and Case Issues
Be very careful if you choose to pre-order a case to have on hand when your Verizon GNex arrives. I've read that the stock back cover of the Verizon phone is slightly different from the GSM phones to accomodate the larger 1850 mAH battery. A few case vendors are noting their cases as not being compatible with the LTE version of the phone, but many are not. Of course, if you're ordering a pouch or other case which doesn't require a precise fit, you're probably fine. But, with any sort of hard case, BUYER BEWARE unless it is specifically noted as being for the Verizon LTE version of the phone.
Samsung made an extended battery + a new cover for the SGSII so they'll probably do the same for the Nexus. I hope they do so because we would have a flat back. I dont like this little bump where the camera or the speaker is.

Hey guys, just a quick heads up. I just got my Galaxy Nexus and it boots up very quickly so having two batteries and swapping them during the day wont be too painful. The back cover is a bit of a fiddle to put back on though, feels like it might break after a while as its very thin. Hope that helps!
Everyone has their needs but for my Nexus one I bought a second battery and hardly ever used it, most phones now a days charge USB, and Micro USB at that, almost everyone I know has a micro USB charger, I have several, including one at home one in the car one at work, friends co-workers have them etc, I have mixed them or used Nokia Blackberry Motorola HTC Samsung home and car changers, Bluetooth headset chargers etc all USB micro they all work on any device for me there is no need for an extended battery and if the original one dies within a year I will either have a new phone of just buy a replacement battery.
my two cents

Great news. I will be buying that as soon as its out in the UK or if it takes too long to get announced I will just import it.
Nice, might get one of them when they are in the UK. How much bigger and heavier do you think it will make it?

The phone should have come with that battery as the default option. With less than 15% more battery capacity I would say it is not really worth buying.
Whoa I need it!
I'll get it imported as soon as it's available anywhere in the world. (Well, no options here in Thailand anyway FML)
Any word on where and when this 2000 mAh battery will be available for purchase?

Maybe someone who speaks Korean can check some of the Korean online stores. Who knows, maybe we should be importing our phones directly from Korea instead of the UK.
I need the 2000 mAh Battery NOW!!! LOL
Found this extended battery on ebay, was wondering if anyone on here has tried it, i know it looks hideous, but if you know your making a trip somewhere it could come in handy if it works the way its supposed to. Its cheap as hell too.

9 bucks... can't be too great,
but what can you lose? lol
Seems to me that if the larger aftermarket brands have trouble meeting the stated mAh rating on their batteries, what more of unbranded ones that goes for an even lower value?
I also still have very clear memory on exploding phones from third party batteries years ago
I bought a cheapo 3800mah and it lasts barely longer than my stock extended battery. I wish samsung made an official 3800mah version

Buy 2 stock batteries and solder them together. Works great.
3500 real mah. I didn't think the 2000 extended batteries would fit under the cover from the Hyperion I had here. I agree though, if I can solder it up in an evening, Samsung certainly could work up something.
hopefully more phones in the future will be like the razr and give us a factory extended battery closer to 3000mah.
Razr maxx when I had it for a week was sick! Hard use all day, charged every other day, seriously insane battery life. If that phone ever gets bootloader unlocked, I would be all over it again.

Have you done this solder thing? Any tips?
if you look at the battery in the phone you can see that there is some space at the top of each terminal, use this space to solder a fine piece of copper wire to a second battery. make sure to solder the batteries in parallel, positive to positive and negative to negative, to retain the same voltage.
i remember taking apart a so called 3500mah battery from ebay and they were just two cheap 1500mah batteries tapped together. Apparently in china 1500X2 is 3500.
Why does everyone want extended batteries? 99% of people have access to a power cord most of the day and just don't need it. Granted, I'm new to the phone, but I really hope I don't need to carry around a huge battery or two. Personally I'd rather charge it more often. Just my own opinion.

As long as you know that I don't see a problem. Spend $10, use it for 6 months, buy another one. Much better than spending $100 for a mugen.
Even the Samsung batteries lose their capacity over time.

I got one from an Amazon seller for $12. I think it's 3,700 mah and I easily get a day out of it. However, it's stupid to use something that large and that adds weight and bulk to such a thin and light device. Especially when it's just as inexpensive and easy to simply buy 2 or 3 stock-sized batteries and a wall charger on eBay. I carry 1 or 2 spare batteries in my back pocket and don't even notice they're there. Why wouldn't you do this?
im currently testing this one.
on my 2nd cycle right now with 26% left im at:
21hs up time, 3hrs screen time about 1hr Pandora. been on 4G/3G the whole time with all my radios on but GPS.
it seems like im getting about 30% more life out of this batt vs the OEM. which seems to be getting me over a full day of use with out needing a charge.

MUGEN is a great brand, i know because i own their battery for my G2 and S2, you get what you paid for man. on test i found that the MUGEN outlast the SEIDO by 30-40 min screen on time under hard benching...now this data is of course base on S2 battery.
right now i am testing Hyperion, look for my post, i will give more update soon as i am on my 3rd full charge right now, will bench by the end of the week. I am in talking with MUGEN and Anker to give me a free sample to do a review on their battery,
id agree that "namebrand" batteries tend to yield better results.
in fact i would have personally preferred a Samsung Extended battery. but i cant see spending $100 one a 4000mAh battery from Mugen when a replacement 63Wh batt from Samsung for my M11x is $125.

Just throwing out counterpoints: It can be a hassle to have to shut down, take the phone out of a case (if you have one), swap batteries and put it back together, etc. With an extended, you don't miss a beat. Also, since the phone is thin and light, having a big, heavy battery isn't so bad -- makes it feel about the same as a lot of older phones.
That said, I'm using a stock battery, but have been considering a nice extended battery eventually.

I just don't see how any one can justify carrying extra batteries on a +600$ phone?
I mean the battery life is great already, not shabby by any means. I got 1d 11h with 3 hour screen on time on my Verizon phone this weekend on stock battery. But no call or hotspot like I do during my work day. But a ~2500mAh would probably last me the whole day even on a work day. I'd pay $45 for that with nice cover. (slightly thicker won't be such a bad thing on this phone)
I have few more days before I can return this phone to verizon for full purchase price of 600 bucks. But it's making me think twice about returning it because it's still 2x better than my rooted galaxy nexus.
Carrying extra batteries, at least for me, is zero hassle. They slip into my back left pants pocket and I never even notice they're there. Granted, I can see swapping batteries being somewhat of a hassle for some people but, even if you had an extra step in removing a protective case, how long could it really take? 1 or MAYBE 2 minutes? This phone shuts down quickly and boots up just as fast.
I'm thinking of turning my GSM Nexus into a "mobile computer" - I'm running ParanoidAndroid in tablet mode and already have an OTG cable that I've confirmed works with my 32GB USB drive, and I also have a wireless hotspot with a 32GB microSD card (I connect to it via Wifi and it kinda acts as cloud storage); I intend on adding a bluetooth mouse and keyboard at some point, but that still leaves the extended battery and a case for it.
I was originally thinking of the OEM extended battery and an Otterbox case, but from what I understand, the OEM extended battery isn't much bigger and wouldn't offer much longer battery life. In terms of extended batteries with NFC, which have cases to go along with the big battery backs that come with the batteries? I'd love one that features a kickstand too.
And in terms of extended batteries in general (talking about quality brands like Mugen and Seidio, not cheap brands), does the increase size/mAh actually correlate well to the extra run-time, or should I only expect a ~150% increase in battery life for a ~200% increase in size (or something of the sort)?
After battling with poor battery like on my last 6 android phones and trying tons of different batteries. I finally found a system that works for me. I bought 2 spare batteries and a battery charger for my Gnex (LTE) and it's been the best setup yet. I keep the slim profile of my phone and have enough battery power to get through the day with one battery in the phone and one spare with me.
Everyone will ***** about having to pull the back off and swap but it takes 2mins max from shut down to booted back up. And I would rather have my phone be slim then a monster with a huge extended battery.
The other thing I did was I got one of those AA battery chargers for my phone and I will keep one in my car and one in my bag with 2 of my eneloop batteries in it just in case I have an emergency of some kind and need a little extra juice. I very rarely have to use those for myself, but they have come in handy for others quite frequently.

I appreciate the thought, but I honestly don't care about adding thickness to the phone (its a bit too thin if you ask me - I don't care for this thin phone trend at all), and carrying a replacement battery is a PITA because I don't always carry a bag or are in a car (and I don't really have the pocket space for it) and I'd have to take off whatever case I have on the phone (which would be a pretty lengthy process if I'm using an Otterbox or other such case).
Check this. He reviewed the 3900mAh battery for Nexus (Verizon/Sprint) from Mugen.
The international has 4000mAh and it's here
