You can't root 587 directly. You have to downgrade to an earlier version of firmware to do so, and then flash a 587 kernel to get it back to the most updated firmware (therefore keeping root).
Flash this, root with this (by running the runme.bat file), and then flash this
Good luck!

You have to use flashtool to flash firmwares/kernels onto your phone. Here's a tutorial on how to do it.

Did you tried sony offical unlock? If you can't either, I think there's nothing you can do.
[I saw some website (don't remember the url) that claimed that you could unlock it via imei codes, but it was pretty expensive (€ 49,00)... Plus I'm not sure if this was for carrier or bootloader unlock.]

should be carrier.
At this Sony thingy where I can check if my BL is unlockable or not it says "No". So I can't flash any unofficial kernels.

v17 rooting kit works well
I downloaded the DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v17_perf-event-exploit.zip (search in this site) and tested with my Xperia Ion LT28at (Flashed Android 4.1.2 LT28h Firmware). It works well on Locked Bootloader. :highfive:
Now I have rooted Xperia Ion LT28h Android 4.1.2 :good:
