Ok, so I have a t989 running Darkside Beta 2. I made the mistake of installing ROM Manager and then ClockworkMod Recovery. I noticed from the start that when I go into recovery, my hardware buttons will not navigate the menu, but I ignored this because ROM Manager has a UI to install the ROM which allowed me to install Darkside without using the recovery interface. Everything worked fine, but suddenly, my phone stopped connecting to T-Mobile's network. The phone still works on Wi-fi, including wi-fi calling, but simply will not connect to the network. At this point, when I try to flash a different ROM through ROM Manager, it now force closes every time, no matter what whenever superuser permissions are granted. And I can't manually flash anything because the hardware buttons do not work on the recovery menu. Is there a way I can uninstall the CWM Recovery? Is there a way I can still access the stock recovery menu? I should have never installed ROM Manager and CWM Recovery... :\ Help!
Odin the recovery again or Odin back to stock and start over
Behold the power of google!
Touch recovery or non touch? if it's touch, you don't use buttons. You can use Odin to flash cwm. I don't use ROM manager for anything but fixing permissions

There is really no need to have Rom Manager anymore. When I first got into rooting my phones and flashing ROMs , I was too scared to use anything but Rom Manager because I heard about "bricking". I always remember people saying not to use Rom Manager and to manually get into recovery to flash or whatever. Although I have never bricked a phone using Rom Manager, I started to notice qwerky things within the app. Manually getting into recovery is much more safe if you know what you are doing. I dont want to rely on this app with a $600 phone. F that!

So i recently unlocked and rooted my GNex (LTE version) and upgraded to 4.0.4... It worked fine until sometime later apps that required root access couldnt acquire it. I couldn't flash cwm in rom manager and i couldn't boot into cwm. When I powered the device on and went into recovery manually (volume buttons and power button) it just went to the stock recovery/bootloader.
I think i need to reroot my device again? I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated!
Sounds like you just need to reflash CWM. I'm not sure what version you were on before, if it was touch based or not. But either reflash CWM file you did before, or if you use ROM Manager just flash CWM at the top option in the app and reboot into recovery. Hopefully that will work for you.
You probably lost root when you applied the 4.0.4 update. You need to install a custom recovery via fastboot and install the new superuser. Some su.zip's do not work, so you need to find a newer one. adrynalyne posted a working one. I'm sure you can find it by searching his user name and looking at the results as posts.
A 'rootkit' may also work for you. It does the same thing, just makes it so users don't really know what's happening .
Has anyone tried the touch recovery flashed by ROM manager on their Nexus and are there any bugs with it? I am abit gun shy with ROM manager flashing anything on anything till I hear others have done it and what happened.
I can confirm it works perfectly, at least with regular flashing tasks and it's definitely more convenient than using the volume and power buttons
why not just fastboot flash it yourself so then you dont have to have rom manager flash it?
also, i like it alot.
I flashed CWM touch using the galaxy nexus toolkit and its been working fine for me.. I have already used it for a nandroid backup and flashed several radios with the touch version
Works perfectly. Don't worry about issues
I love it, no issues with it. Flash it with Rom Manager but that's where I'd stop with RM. Probably best to do all the flashing manually.

The touch version works just fine, though I've recently switched to TWRP: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2 - integrates nicely with goo.im
I personally wouldn't flash it with rom manager myself as flashing in fastboot is dead simple anyways. I use the one from development section and it works great for everything I have done with it.
I flashed CWM touch using the galaxy nexus toolkit and manually using fastboot. Both methods seem to work, but Rom manager still shows current recovery as CWM 5.5.0.4 after phone reboot. Any idea what am I doing wrong ??

rom manager only updates what it has if you flash it through rom manager
Yes, I can see it in recovery. Thanks.
no idea what's going on. i flashed via Odin to get root, and that worked. but i can't get into recovery via power/vol+ and home. also tried vol+ and power but no joy. download works fine.
i installed rom manager to have a peek and that says i "need to have clockworkmod recovery" before i can do anything. the weird thing is in spite of all this, rom manager *can* reboot me into recovery. i just used it to backup my rom just in case.
for now, it seems the only way i can get into CWM is via rom manager? this can't be right since my htc desire and galaxy s2 could do it from a cold boot. had to in case we screwed something up and couldn't boot an OS.

Here is CWM 6.0.1.5 mate https://hotfile.com/dl/176065007/332cffb/cwm6-recovery-n7100-121014.tar.html, flash with Odin/Mobile Odin. Also read this for root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901196.
cheers
flashed and got into recovery but not at 1st. i always held down the 3 buttons when trying to enter recovery and this time i noticed a flash of "the recovery screen" before it rebooted and went into android.
apparently you just press the buttons and let go with the note 2? not sure if i just realised it now or if this fixed it but either way i got in so tomorrow can flash a new rom.
cheers
My phone wont root. I have had problems with my phone and I brought it back to stock. Once I did so I had a No Sim error which was fixed by several updates in the System Updates section. I tried to Odin my phone 3 for 4 times to get CWR on my phone but every time I enter Recovery mode it takes me to the stock recovery. I wiped cache and data once again an tried to Odin CWR another time, everything passed but still it boot into stock recovery. I do not know what to do from here and why it isnt working.
Try using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1963812 to root and then use goo manager or ROM manager to install a recovery.

Hey,
I recently rooted my SGS3 using odin which worked flawlessly. Thereafter I installed CWM and began the fun of trying out new roms... Tried slimbean which was just ok for me. I read that Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 was one of the best so I installed this on my device. My fop-aw here was I didn't know you needed to install the google apps before you flashed the rom. I tried to install an version of google play via sd card apk file, but when i open the app it imediately closes. Right now i am stuck with a rom with no way to install the apps I so dearly enjoy lol... So.... now for the problem, I can no longer get access to CWM to reflash the rom even when I do the whole power, volume, home like before. It goes to download mode instead of the CWM recovery. What can I do to remedy this situation. I only know as much as I have read so lets pretend i am a dumbass. lol
Thanks in advance,

Volume up + power + home = recovery. Volume down + power + home = download mode...
And u flash the gapps after u flash the ROM.
if you still have issues accessing cwm then I suggest you download Rom manager apk install it and flash cwm using it. I got cwm through Rom manager, but then I now flashed latest philz recovery.
use Rom manager to install recovery and cm10.1.3 is already rooted so u will have success
cheers
Thanks
Worked like a charm thank you very much for your time.
? though it worked but not.
After installing Rom manager I had it load up my recovery file. I clicked on the backup file and... It rebooted taking me to CWM recovery screen but with only few options to choose from: reboot system now, apply update from external storage, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partiion, apply update from cache... Obviously I am doing something way wrong. Any ideas?
Try starting Rom Manager and selecting boot into recovery.
