Hello everyone.
First let me say that for many of my own reasons, I love this particular model of phone. Second, I was working at a cell phone/pc repair shop, and the girl I work with messed the phone up. Badly. Main flex ribbon cable snapped (has since been replaced), the volume rocker cable snapped (not replaced yet), and the screen is much darker then before and doesn't brighten. Also the digitizer works about 60% of the time until I unslide the phone or some such thing. What I need help with, is:
I have a Motoral CLIQ XT that is perfectly functional and on CM 7.1.0 that I would be more the willing to trade or trade and pay a small amount of $$ to get the MT3GS working or replaced.
I have a semi-functional Mytouch 3G Slide. I would like it to be fully functional or get a replacement MT3GS.
Can someone help me?

I recently recieved a T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 from a trusted E-Bay seller. When I recieved the phone it worked perfectly, but the digitizer screen was cracked up. I found the T-Mobile model digitizer online and replaced it. Now the phone is DEAD. I have checked and rechecked EVERY ribbon cable and connection I can find and have insured all is attached properly. Battery has a full charge and works (tested it on my Dash 3g as they use the same battery). I even tried plugging it in and turning it on with.without the battery in and still nothing! Am I sunk?
I am hoping someone may have the answer... maybe I am overlooking something like a bone head? I really would appreciate any and all input. Thanks.
ight dude, been here with an iphone. first, do your self a favor and disconnect the new TS and replace the old one. did it work?
if yes, you have a problem, and it can be isolated to the new TS. if no, yu just did something wrong OR you shocked the mobo. Try not ot to do that.
Most likely though, it is a reassembly issue. I remember hwen i did this to my tilt, there was hell to pay and i thought i broke it. not so much. Just had a switch constantly being pressed in that shouldn't have been and didn't allow the device to POST.
Also, if you cna, how did you replace the TS part? i am about to do that to a Tilt2 and a touch pro 2 (same phone)
So all last saturday i was wondering why everytime i pulled my phone out of my pocket it was powered off. I found out that if i slid the keyboard in or out fast, the device would just power off. After further investigation even if i bump the device on the bottom it would also turn off.
I thought it was a weird glitch with some app i've installed but did a task29, reflashed the rom and it still did it.
I reflashed the ship rom as well as stock spl and went to an Att device support center, the guy looked over it and told me they don't have any tilt2s at the support center but would mail one out to me. So getting a refurbished device under warranty but has anyone experienced this?
I think its the ribbon cable probably came loose on the main board. But since its under warranty, easier to just swap it out then open it up and investigate.
A friend of mine had a Tilt 2 doing that, only it would simply reboot instead of shutting off. He sent it in for warranty replacement because of that and another problem.
Did you try putting a piece of paper between the backcover and the batterie? I had to do this with some old phones of mine were the batterie had a little bit space.

i remember doing that with i think the wizard which yes i did try and still same issue :/
oh well, its time for a new device anyway... i think i'm gonna get the dell streak, been meaning to jump over to android for a while now because nothing really excites me about WM7. Hopefully after 6 months after its launch it will be nicely updated and not so "locked down".
But for the ribbon cable that connects the top half and bottom half of the board, it has caused me issues before on previous devices. First on the wizard (Cingular 8125 but i bought it overseas as the i-mate k-jam). The cable got severed and killed the earpiece so i couldn't hear people during calls, but speaker phone worked. Had to buy a damaged one off ebay and swap the ribbon cable.
Then for the hermes (i had the i-mate jasjam but in the US it was sold as the ATT 8525) again had issues with the ribbon cable that the screen would just loose power.
Then again i've had the Raphael (att fuze) with no issues and the kaiser ( att tilt) with no problems as well, and i've had them for much longer than the tilt2. Oh well, luck of the draw i guess.
Its gonna be hard leaving HTC but no good att 3g gsm android devices out, i know there is the captivate but i want the front cam cuz my gf has the evo and we could probably video chat via Qik
Well, my Desire is on it's last legs.
The home button needs to be hit a few times to work, can't connect to PC, camera works, but when you exit it won't work till the phone has been rebooted and the charging point on the bottom is pretty much destroyed. Can only charge the phone by bending the actual metal part on the charger and wrapping the charger wire around the phone!
Just wandering what it the best thing to do? I don't have money for a new phone, so that's out, and 3UK won't fix/replace my phone as they say it has been "water damaged".
Anyone got any advice?
If you'd of insured it you could of gotten a new phone. Not much you can do since it's hardware related. Ask HTC directly and see what they can do to it.
Hey guys,
So I actually upgraded from my G2 about a year ago because of a hardware issue with the phone. I basically developed problems with the screen and it turned out the problem was the power ribbon between the keyboard and screen. Luckily, I was able to salvage my data from the phone before I basically (and unintentionally) killed the screen by poking the power ribbon to try to fix the screen issue. So for the past year, it's kinda just sat in my desk and I just feel really bad about letting a perfectly good phone go to waste if I have the chance to fix it. Only problem is that is that I don't want to drop tons of money on an expensive screen replacement so I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction with buying a replacement.
I don't want the cheapest option. I just want the best option (and preferably some instructions too!) for a screen and/or ribbon replacement and I'll gauge whether I want to restore my phone or not.
Thank you and kudos for those who are still using the phone! I miss it so much.
Can't really say how much it will cost where you live, but I find LCDs for about 20 and and flex cables around 30 where I live. Usually eBay is a good place to pick these up, being the flex sounds for sure bad I would start with buying that.
Instructions can be found with quick Google or YouTube searches

I recently bought a working 2017 A5 with a completely broken screen (but a working digitizer that I stupidly threw away with the screen when I took it off) and some other unrelated broken bits for 30 CAD. I'm trying to make sure that everything works before I drop 100+ dollars on replacement parts, and the only way I think I could do that is to use my USB-C to VGA/HDMI adapter to plug it into an external monitor. Sadly, this does not work. I'm wondering if there's a way to do this without buying a screen. I'm almost certain that developer mode (or any developer options for that matter) are not enabled since if the previous owner was tech savvy enough to do that he'd probably have just fixed the phone instead of selling it...
Anyway, I really hope that someone can help me out here. Thank you!
