[APP] CM9 Holo Dark MMS [5.31] - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Stock CM9 Dark Holo Themed MMS
This is a stock MMS application for CM9. The only change is that it is dark holo themed instead of light.
This will not work on TouchWiz without modification or running it alongside of your stock mms application.

Instructions:
It's a system app. Use a root explorer to move the application into your system/app directory, or, even easier, push it to /system/app with adb:
Code:
adb push Mms.apk /system/app
That's all there is to it.
May 31 Update:
New unread notification in list view [might clean this up a tad]
Removed "choose conversations" until I find where it's being colorized.
Fixed attach icon [now white] when you're in the attachments menu
Fixed timestamp in conversation view [now shows up]
Added blue icon to MmsB.apk attachment. [Rename to Mms.apk]
If you like it, hit thanks! =P Enjoi.
Blue icon credit goes to Fatsix
Images and resource credit goes to Google

Looks awesome, about to test it out now.

Would this work on any of the stock FE builds? Or is CM9 or AOKP needed?

How do I install this? What is root and system/app?

I copied and pasted the app to my system/app folder using ES file explorer, but it doesn't show in my app drawer using Trebuchet launcher. I tried rebooting with no luck.

i have been waiting for this for a LONG time!!!
Im not on cm9 but this can defintely be installed on TW builds with ONE CATCH.
Do not overwrite or delete the Tw mms.apk. If you do, you will be able to send messages thru this app, but you will not be able to recieve them!! Just turn off notifications in the default Tw mms app.
rujeles22 had a "mmshelper.apk" that fixed the issue on people running ics messaging apps on GB, but it does not work on ICS.
I can post it if anyone wants to take a look at it and see if you can figure out what the mmshelper silent app did to make it work

You'd just theme your contacts.apk. Open it up, go into res > drawable-hdpi > launcher icon or something, just copy that image over the current one (keep the same name). I can do this when I get to a computer.

Thanks. I'll see if I can figure it out. Btw, If it's that simple, is it possible you could just change the icons of other apps to these? :
Edit: I'm looking in one of the ROMs I have and I can't find the contacts.apk
If you're looking through a downloadable zip, go into system/app/contacts.apk.
That's a lot of apps. The reason most people don't mess with apps is because a market update reverts their images back to normal.

Well, I only meant the Samsung Apps.
And I know where to find the contacts lol, it's not there in the zip I'm looking for! xD
I found another one though.
So I made it a zip, extracted it, and now I change the contacts icon?
How do I make it an .apk again?

So what all programs would a person need to theme an app, if I wanted to change a few icons? Can you do it with 7zip, or do you have to use the apk tool? Yes I'm a noob when it comes to this, but would like to give it a try.

Good man. To say the least. THIS **** IS DOPE AS A MOTHER ****ER! It is very forgiving when messing up and the stitching is better than the 4.1(.1) app.
took this just now in roughly 15 seconds. I tried my damndest to mess it up and it still did a beautiful job.

When you're viewing the finished 360° image, touch the screen to bring up the overlay. There is a sharing button with a logo or drop-down list when touched. Simply touch the maps logo and it takes you to the Maps sharing interface.

has anyone been able to change the dialer background color from white to black? a few of us have been trying for awhile now with no success. sammy has hidden it deep for some reason. any insight would be appreciated. thanks in advance.
Is it in the phone.apk? Perhaps another version of the phone (Canadian model?) has a dark theme?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42252851
includes a few apps.
includes framework theming as well so I dont want to flash over wickeds rom... I may try just extracting the apps i want manually and move them into the system/apps with root explorer, set permissions and reboot.
Edit: Worked pretty nicely. I manually installed phone and contacts from the link above. Pretty happy with the results.

Lets keep this short and sweet. I threw this together using LoserSkater's very easy to follow guide that he posted last year. With the inspiration from Old and Slow getting this to work again on Verizon. Now this is 100% fully functional and should work for any ATT or tmobile device. And lastly thanks to @lowrider262 for the awesome customizable mms.apk from here that makes this return oh so sweet.
If you experience any FCs or issues my first suggestion is to clear your messages. To do so open your favorite root browser and go to here from the root folder "data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases" and remove the following 3 files completely. (mmssms.db, mmssms.db-shm, and mmssms.db-wal)
Thanks to Alex9090 for testing this out on tmobile and finding out it works there flawlessly.

It worked perfectly. I just wanted the one with built in theme option. Your files made that possible too.

Here you go. I think this one is from baked beans Rom. I had tried this before but mms would always crash. I flashed yours with your framework jar and telephony file and then replaced your mms.apk with this one and it works great now. Thanks again.

Thanks again for your valuable contribution! It looks like I won't have time to test it tonight but here's where I got that mms.apk from (custommmsmod.zip).

Man, I thank you for thanking me but the real thanks goes to YOU! :highfive:
New update in the original post! Now to hook sprint up.
Am I missing something simple? Flashed a few times with no change. Replaced mms.apk in the zip with the one posted and nothing changed. And when I try to rename or overwrite MMS.apk in system/apps through es file explorer I get errors saying I can't.

Not sure whats going on here but the mms.apk posted is the one in the zip. All you should have to do is flash the zip then you can go and remove the stock messaging apk. You should see 2 messaging apps, one green and one blue. The blue one is AOSP Mms. Only other thing I suggest is clearing your messages and the other step I posted in red in the OP might help any force closes for the app.
Installing 8sms app is quicker
