REVIEW
Look and Feel
After constantly using the dock for the past few days, I must admit this: this dock looks amazing. Its form and design flows with the shape of the One X, and its borders are not restricting, but also curves to create round edges that really adds on to the look of this dock. Its construction is 100% plastic, but there is a little premium feel to it with its glossy lip and matte sides. Though I do not understand fully as to why there is a back piece jutting out so much, it does indeed provide the support for when the phone is placed on top.
Usability:
Advertised as the case fit version, it came with a plastic piece of adapter to be used when your phone is naked. The fit when case-less is perfect, with the polycarbonate body of the HOX just reaching the point where it would touch the plastic stand.
I was, however, very delighted to see that when the plastic adapter was taken off, the KIDIGI dock adapted all cases that I had, which was an OTTERBOX DEFENDER, and a Nillkin TPU case. The Otterbox when fitted, provided a very tight fit against the sides of the dock, where as the Nillkin left a little space, though both fit the dock perfectly. Thus, it is safe to say that any sort of case you have, would definitely fit on this dock.
It was a breeze to just dock my phone, and charge it, or simply to transfer data to my laptop. Though dock mode won’t activate by itself, this can be easily solved by using dock simulator from the play store.
Cons:
There was only one little thing that I didn’t quite like about this dock. When the phone was docked, it was quite wobbly. Yes, I know that the only link between the phone and the dock is the connector, but extra space around the front and back were a bit excessively left, and this happens both with a case and without.
Would I recommend it?
Yes, for the price and the amount of use it offers, I would definitely recommend this to any who is looking for a great looking, adaptable dock.
Feel free to ask any questions about the dock
This does look good.....

THAT is a good thing to hear. Have you tried watching movies while charging through that? Does the phone heat up? Also, how long does it take to charge through the dock?
So all it is, is a bit of plastic to prop it up, while allowing it to charge via usb?
Is there anything that uses the gold connectors?

nothing just yet. wait for the official htc one. BTW, those pin connector are loose, and ur phone can be easily knocked off.. Since you are only placing the phone on the small connectors.

Of course, works perfect. Playing Games too, everything for that matter.
Well, while playing heavy games it does heat up, but thats normal.
Didn't stop time from 0% to 100%, but I think it's the same with like any AC charger out there...

What do you need gold connectors for? You realize these are all digital connections right? 0's And 1's will still be 0's and 1's, even through a gold connector.
What you will have to consider is that the HDMI-cradle does not fastcharge your device, regardless what mod you make to your charger/cable. It disconnects the shortened data pins in the MHL/HDMI-path again, and only does USB-charging.
Furthermore no regular USB-connection is possible to your PC.
Expansys shipped the HDMI-version though I ordered the USB one. Been thinking about swapping it, because I need to fastcharge.
Re "gold connectors"... I think he means the pogo pins.

Any news on Brodit holders for the Galaxy S2?
Can't seem to find anything on DSL Developments (who I normally use). Timescales? or are we still looking at weeks yet. Might have to find a temporary alternative in the short term.
Why not email [email protected]? They are usually very helpful.

I'm using the passive HTC HD2 cradle. It's fits perfect at the bottom but a little bit of movement at the top where the phone is thinner. It's not loose enough it rattles or moves when you touch the screen. Volume and power buttons aren't blocked.
Might be easier and cheaper to find a used or new HD2 holder.
There may even be enough space to add a very thin skin, which is what I'll add if I can find a nice one.
Thanks will look into it.

Great to know, I currently have a HD2 with Brodit passive holder, and will receive my Galaxy S II tomorrow
I'll see if it's the same for me too...
I have an adjustable iPhone 3GS passive Brodit mount (it expands to use with gel type cases). I have a cheapo gel case on my SGII and it works fine, solid as a rock.

Okay so here's what I've done: on each side of my passive holder, I've put a few centimeters of black adhesive tape. It's the kind of heavy one, which you can buy in a hardware store...
Now the Galaxy S 2 is completely stable in a HD2 Brodit passive holder!

Nice tip there. However, I might pick up one the offical cases from P4U this week. It looks like there may be enough room for the phone to fit the holder with the case on.

Just to let you know, on Friday dsldevelopments has shipped my brodit passive holder, I should get it this week
I installed my Brodit SII-holder last Saturday. Fits perfectly. I had it pre-ordered to be one of the first to have it
I have the passive one, I use separate wires for power-in and audio-out.
I have decided to use it with a Kuda console, because that looks better in my car.
Now all I need to do is fill my SD-card with audio and I can enjoy my car-rides even better

I'm looking at the same problem here. I've been using a holder with the 2 amp charger for the past two years with my Incredible and absolutely love it. I've never been able to get an extended battery because of how tight it slides in, though. I'll email them and ask but I might have to just swap in the stock battery for rides I know I'll need the juice.
Pros of using this are great, though. Because it's 2 amp charger I would get ~25% in about 20 minutes of driving with my Incredible with fast charging enabled in the kernel. GPS and Bluetooth for Google Maps would slow the charge down but would still give me a full charge from 20% to full in an hour. With Cyanogen I would set my bluetooth to only turn on when connected to a wall charger so I'd slide this in and my buetooth would turn on and connect to my car automatically. Last but not least, your wires are all tucked away! Very clean look.
Does the mount hold the audio cable so it doesn't move and it plugs into the phone?
Any issues with the diztronic TPU case? Would it prevent the microusb or audio plugs from inserting into the phone completely?

If you get the universal dock, the bottom of the phone is completely exposed so you won't have any issues. I got my wife one of these (universal) for her iPod a few years back and the build quality is top notch.
i wish I didn't have to also plug in the cables separately, but maybe I can jerryrig something up.

If you don't want to remove the case, then you need to get the universal dock. I wish them made a version of the active dock that was slightly adjustable, but they don't.
My question is would the charging holder accommodate the extended battery given that it barely adds any thickness to the device. From the looks of the pictures, it looks like the device slides in and is held on to the sides only so it looks like shouldn't be a problem.
I contacted customer service and they said this:
Indeed the added battery won't make it work in 512324. Our adjustable holder listed with the Galaxy Nexus listing might work. Our custom holders are made for the device as it comes out of the box, and indeed any added thickness will make it not work in our custom holders.

Most extended batteries tend to add a lot of bulk (more than cases sometimes). The person who emailed you back may not be aware that the GN's extended battery adds about 1-2 mm of bulk to the bottom half of the phone.
Since the holder is a slide-in type, I can't see this being 'millimeter-tight'. Don't take my word for it but I'm willing to bet that this will fit even with the extended battery on.
I guess we won't know for sure until someone gets the fitted holders and try it though. I'd try, but I've a case so the fitted ones do me no good for sure.

80 bucks for that dock. Ouch. Good concept, but that is a bit rich.
I wish you could buy these at a store. I've already got the whole set for the Nexus One and I've been waiting for the GN mount. I just added to my cart and it's an extra $20 in shipping (to Toronto). So after duty at the border I'm looking easy at $60 just for that one piece of molded plastic. Yeah the mount is great, but that's seriously expensive.
I've used their cases for the last 2 years, nexus s and thunderbolt, and they are great. I still have my Nexus S holder and the picture of the one on their site for the GNex looks like the same style, if so it should work with the extended battery. The slide in case is tight on the sides but leaves a gap behind the phone, see attached pic. The phone slides into that groove and the groove itself is very thin so it doesn't appear it will interfere with the rear battery cover at all.
Proclips is a great solution. I've used it for my car for years. I used them in 3 different cars. Pricey however, it works very well. A+
Got a negative response =(
Unfortunately not. We only have adjustable holder with charging for our Apple line. These have all the same connectors in exact the same location.
For other phones there are too many differences in charging location and thickness of cases.

It was to be expected. They are not going to design a niche product for a phone until it sells consistently in the millions. That said... Creating a Micro USB small swing arm to make it universal should be too hard....
If I feel industrial, I might see what I can make on my own.

I got a few of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAMSUNG-GALAXY-S2-S-II-I9100-ZENIS-DESKTOP-DOCK-CHARGER-CRADLE-/220883609072?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC.NPJS%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUA%26otn%3D5%26pmod%3D270865448058%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5859734319996833550
and they have worked with all my Samsung Android phones WITH "thinner" type cases. When I put the Diztronics case on the GNex it didn't fit by a hair so I took a Dremel tool and ground down the front edge just a little. It looks a LOT worse in the picture (since it is close up and due to the lighting) then it does on my desk but it could also be done a lot neater. I kind of slipped with the Dremel. For the price, these docks can't be beat. They only make them in 1 size yet they advertise them as if they are different (and jack up the prices depending on the phone). There is NO audio or video out, it's simply a charge/sync/nightstand cradle.
Today I broke down and ordered the "RND Power Solutions Deluxe 2nd Battery Charger and Data Sync Cradle" from amazon.com (too new to post a link, just give it a search).
This may be what you are looking for, because it is described as having an insert you can put in/remove depending on the case you are using.

Not sure you´r correct, since they are saying in the reviews, that the sparepart charger doesn´t fit their type of battery, but its ment for the GSM version. .
So IMO this one on Amazon is for the GSM-version, but still wil work for the LTE versions phones, but not the spare battery they may want to charge..
That looks to be the same as the KiDiGi one listed on the Mobi site except the Amazon price is a lot less expensive. However on the Mobi site it is listed as a GSM (i9250) version.
I've been tempted as they also have a car dock with the same form factor but I'm really looking for something that looks decent but allows me to leave my Qmadix case on the phone.

I just ended up getting the gogostand and taping it to my desk. Works flawless. Yes it doesnt charge, but I couldnt find anything that I liked without having to remove my case each time. And I wasnt going to do that.
Since One X has the pogo pin at the bottom that support charging, will it be possible to have case with extended batteries connect to OneX via the pogo pin?
Majority of case w/ batteries (for other phones) makes the phone bigger since it needs to connect to the port at the side. with pogo pin, the case can be same side, just making the phone a big thicker.
it's possible, but whether it will become reality will depend on HTC and third-party manufacturers..
I inquired about something like this from power skin, got a reply that a case will be available in about 40 days, not sure if they'll be using the pogo stuff or standard micro usb
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
They have them for the Galaxy SII (with the MicroUSB connector) so it's obviously possible. I wonder if the charging pins on the back could be used - that would make it a much sleeker case. I would buy one...

God I would hope they use the pogo pins... I mean they're so convenient!
Should be possible. Pogo pins are just USB really, only reason not to do it is poor design.

I am also waiting for an accessory like this. Hope some company makes one I think it would be very popular!
A TPU case with a battery capable of recharging the phone 1.2 times would be great, especially with pogo-pin power delivery.
I'd imagine that it would run from just at the very edge of where the camera is, all the way down to just short of the speaker grille, and the full width of the back. That probably means that the battery can be comparatively thin instead of increasing thickness, or so I'd hope.
I am awaiting such cases badly ... if such a battery case is released I would buy it instantly ...

The second model looks awful. Really happy with this development though as the limited battery life for my needs is the only thing holding back this phone for me

Will do!
How does this case work? Does it charge your phone battery or does your phone see it as part of the phone so just uses the power when it needs it?

Looks great, fancy the 2200mah black myself but 25 days shipping could be an issue lol

Cool I've just ordered the 2200mha one as it looks a lot better and seems to give better protection. Powerskin should have listened to us and not use the stupid USB connection. I will post up a short review if I get mine first. Over 12 hours video playback is more than enough for me.... Can't wait

I didn't want to Void my warranty by soldering the touchstone wires inside the phone so i cut open a micro USB cable and wired the coil to it. Much easier way to do it i recon.
Neat idea, though I'm not really convinced wireless charging is an improvement over wired so long as the phone still has to be right next to the hub.
Nice proof of concept though, certainly more user friendly than soldering.
Always nice to see a Touchstone mod. I wired my coil up to the pogo pins for a neater appearance, and to leave the micro USB free. Works very nicely as a desktop dock/cradle.

I tried wiring it to the Pogo pins on the outside of the phone but no success. Unfortunately i sent my phone back for a full refund today (Screen seems to be coming off and vibration motor is weak) This was my 4th replacement. Given up with HTC now. I'm getting a Sony Xperia Z

Being the 4th replacement, I have to say it is something you are doing, and not the manufacture

A very small piece of copper foil screwed up and pushed into the pogo pin recess was how I managed it. Not the most elegant solution, but it works well Top pin is +5V, bottom pin is Ground.

1st phone had Audio stutter issues and the vibration motor was making a clicking noise, Sent it for repair and returned it the same way. Not even the software update fixed the issue. The second one had Screen flex issues and capacitive button light leaked a lot into the screen. Third one has screen flicker issue mostly visible in grey areas. Software upgrade and custom Roms did not fix the issue. The 4th one's vibration motor was weak and did not work sometimes and the screen was loose from the top. Its like they have not used strong glue to stick the Digitizer to the LCD panel. My girlfriend has the same phone which she got on contract yet she has no issues with it. I guess i'm an unlucky guy when it comes to HTC. I should get my Xperia Z on March 1st Super exited

I'm basically thinking of doing the same thing that you did but my case is kinda tight . How much do you think it adds to the thickness? Where did you get materials from?

I'm using the sgp ultra thin case and there is no thickness difference. Materials can be found on eBay.

My case is both thin and tight to the back, and it will fit in there as it is, but it will leave a bulge. I refined this by carving out recesses in the case with a dremel for a better fit, and now you wouldn't know that anything is in there. I recommend using circuitry from the Palm Pre back case rather than the Pixi as there is a smaller circuit board to fit in.
Materials are all from ebay. I just bought another Pre case so I can mod my HTC Desire, and that cost me £3.50 delivered. Touchstone bases can usually be found for about £5. If you don;t see any on there for such cheap prices, then just wait a few days and one will almost always come up. Copper tape/foil is sold on there too, usually marketed as snail repellent.
A word of warning about the Touchstone base: you need a very slim micro USB plug to fit in the narrow gap. The One X lead works perfectly, but anything bigger will not be able to go through the opening.
Finally here's a diagram showing the thickness of the parts. Have fun modding
