Ive finally flashed the .62 FW on my phone!!!!! After 3 days, i finally flashed it although that wasnt my main aim. My main aim was to get the JokaWild v3 ROM on my phone.
My phone is r800i. Now in order to get the ROM on my phone, I need CWM installed, which requires root obviously. Now, when I try to root my phone using the zergrush exploit via superoneclick, the application freezes at step 7. Ive also tried gingerbreak but still doesnt work....
Is it because, after flashing the .62 FW, flashtool told me to put the phone in debugging mode and enable non-market apps, although I did it, when i connected the phone back, it gave me an error...
I've did my research and it seems that .62 can't be rooted... So is there any way of getting cwm on my phone in order to flash the ROM?

I was on 2.3.3 now I'm down graded just for root there must be a way around this ? it's said in the forum that I can be rooted on a 2.3.3 what am I missing here ?
Unlocked bootloader or not?
You would need to flash a rooted 2.3.3 onto your phone, if that's what you wanted to do.
With a locked bootloader, the fastest would be to flash a 2.3.2, root with gingerbreak and then OTA upgrade to 2.3.3
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
ok well I did flash it so I could root it
and the up date was new to me and I was loving the fast boot time I updated it just before I rooted it but then realized I could root my phone on my own So I went forth with it
so are you telling me I can have both Rooted and up to date I've been at this for so long now damn
Unlocked bootloader or not?
locked I believe .
So what you saying is I need to flash a 2.3.3 rooted gingerbread onto my phone where ever that may exist ?
Ques – Oooops. Does this mean that I can’t be rooted on 2.3.3?
Of course you should be rooted on 2.3.3. That’s what the updates are meant for. For all of you now who are rooted on 2.3.2, follow these steps –
1. Connect to a wifi connection (You know how to do that, don’t you).
2. Go to ‘settings’, ‘About phone’ and tap ‘Software update’. Tap ‘Update now’.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions (just a button tap and you are done) to update your phone to 2.3.3.
4. The phone should now be running a rooted 2.3.3.
the above
Does not work if you want to update your phone ! I also need proper apn settings for Fido 3 G now
If you have a locked bootloader, as clearly stated above:
Flash 2.3.2, gingerbreak it to get root, do an OTA update to 2.3.3.
My guess is that I can't update with out authentic firmware the update downloads fine but at the end it doesn't update just says unabled to update .
Well then your doing something wrong. As they said, you flash back to generic world 2.3.2.. You dont need an ''authentic'' firmware, world means that it was the same firmware used on every device. I have done this, had no problem updating afterwords.
Remember to get backup on your apps, contacts and messages.
Then flash back to .181 and root it and then OTA.
If you cant use wireless then you have done something wrong or restored some settings that crashes with the current settings
So should I re flash it with the LT15i_3.0.A.2.181_ Generic world 1 root it and then up date it ?
Success ! I don't know what went wrong the first time but it's all good now thanks for all your help I couldn't find any one to pay to do it in my area so I had to do it my self and I don't know how to use a computer .
Hi All!
Just got myself a SE Arc that is charging right now. I have resisted playing with it for a good few hours.
Anyway was wondering should i unlock the bootloader and reflash? I am interested in stripping away the rubbish that slows the phone down. To do this, do i just find a firmware that has already removed the crap, or is there a way to remove stuff like timescape.
The phone currently has 2.3.3 HK firmware.
Sorry if this sort of info is located elsewhere...
You don't need to unlock your bootloader for that. You just need root access and Titanium Backup. With that, you should be able to remove the stuff which you don't want. Please refer to this link to know what is safe to remove and what's not.

Many THanks. I was just looking at that list myself... Anyway i will give it a go. Was just wondering if there were any benefits to reflashing the firmware.
How do i get root access? Or should i already have root access?
Thanks
Bolo
I'm assuming you haven't unlocked your bootloader.
If you're already running 2.3.3, then consider flashing 2.3.2. Root it with Gingerbreak. And then update it OTA (Over The Air) to 2.3.3. Don't try this with an unlocked bootloader!
With an unlocked bootloader, you can just flash a rooted firmware onto your device. But do note that once you unlock your bootloader, you won't be able to use TrackID and also the facebook 'Like' feature on tracks as unlocking deletes the DRM files.
For all custom ROMS and kernals, you would need to unlock your bootloader. You can use Shazam as an alternative to SE's TrackID.
Hi xtacy.
Thanks for the info.
Any reason why i need to go back to 2.3.2 and then update again? Is it to give me root access?
Thanks!

Yes, it is indeed to give you root access. Gingerbreak doesn't work on 2.3.3. The exploit that Gingerbreak used was fixed on the 2.3.3 ROM and hence the need to downgrade to 2.3.2.
Have you heard if anybody is working on root access for 2.3.3?
The exploit that Gingerbreak uses was fixed in 2.3.4 but SE implemented the fix in its 2.3.3 ROM. With a locked bootloader, I don't know of any other way.
But our resident geniuses here at XDA have released kernals which can root any ROM [Unlocked bootloader required] (I believe it was Blagus). Just browse our Development section and you'll come across various solutions.

Hi just got another question.
I have the 2.3.3 usb connection problem. Therefore, is it worth updating from 2.3.2. to 2.3.3?
Many thanks for your help!
What exactly is the 2.3.3 USB connection problem?
2.3.3 does bring in improvements like facebook integration, better wifi stability, improved battery life etc. For these reasons, I would update to 2.3.3

when connecting to the pc, the mtp device driver fails to load properly, meaning you can't connect to the pc. i hve tried both mtp and msc modes. I think this is a problem with 2.3.3 and not the arc...
Try reinstalling SEUS and PC Companion. Might solve your problem.

Do you have the prompt window on your phone "Install" "Skip" when you are connecting the phone to the PC? (If not go to Settings-SonyEricsson-Connectivity- Install PC Companion)
Are you using Windows 7?
Have you formated your SD card via Windows Explorer (right click - format...)?
For proper connecting you need Media Transfer mode (MTP).
Normaly, when you have selected MTP and you connect your phone to the PC and you press the "Install" option on the phone, Windows should locate the MTU driver and install it.
I had same problem and I found that my phone was in MSC mode.
Btw I tried reinstaling the PC companion and SEUS it didnt help.
I have searched for the driver to download it from internet but no luck.
The whole point is that I believe the driver is located somewhere in the phone and when you connect it windows should get it from there.
OK,
1st Hi all and thanks for not bashing my lack of knowledge. I have done many searches and am now more confused than before.
I am comming from a droid X, I did the z4 root on it to get wifi tether working, it was on 2.2.1 I believe. Well it went very good, but I never got a push for an update. Got the new GN on verizon and tried to restore it back to stock, didn't work, so instead of selling it I gave it to my mom. Also, did this on a friends and he did get the update push and lost the root and superuser access.
This story is just so you know I am a complete noob. Other than following someones set by set on using Z4 I have really not done anything and have some questions on my new phone.
1. why would I want to unlock the bootloader?
2. after reading about the wifi hotspot by svtp do I need to root?
3. If i root and/or unlock the bootloader will this stop the updates from google (main reason I bought the phone)?
4. I am not into overclocking or modding but I want to be able to have wifi if I ever need it. That is the only thing I want.
Basically I am looking to unlock the wifi and still get all the google updates, is this possible? As of right now I think buying the svtp app is my best bet, I just don't want an unexpected bill showing up.
ok, still not rooted or unlocked. cannot get svtp to work wifi
Follow this guide --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382163
re #1: you need to unlock the bootloader to do pretty much anything non standard with your phone.
Since unlocking the bootloader wipes all data on the phone it's a good idea to do it early. You can leave it otherwise stock while you think about it, you can even relock it if you need to return the phone for some reason.
Neither unlocking nor rooting the phone will stop you getting the OTAs, it's custom roms that will do that. However most OTAs will stop your root access because they reset the permissions on your su files.

Just to add further to this... not only will custom ROMs stop you from getting OTA updates, having custom recovery (ClockworkMod) will prevent them from applying, even with the stock ROM. If using a stock ROM with custom recovery, you'll need to do the update manually. If you wait until you get the update notification, your phone should have downloaded the update to /cache. You can then use the custom recovery to apply the update. Alternatively, you can look on these forums for someone to post the URL to the OTA update zip file, download it, and flash it manually (this way you don't need to wait until your phone gets the update, you can download it and have it sooner).
In either case, you'll usually need to re-root, as stated. This is easier with a custom recovery, because you should just have to flash superuser immediately after flashing the update, before rebooting.
Until CM9 is stable, I'm running the stock ROM with ClockworkMod recovery. I can download the OTA updates manually and flash them with ClockworkMod then flash superuser and I'm good to go. Custom recovery makes it nice and easy to retain root, as well as the ability to do nandroid backups, etc.
cant OTA... (error: plz wait a while & try again later?)
cant Update Via Sony PC companion... (dont see the phone, wants me to update software, but already latest version)
cant unlock bootloader (because cant find "Android Boot loader Interface-file" followed this to the letter: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions )
cant root cuz cant get 2.3.3?
ive literally just wasted the last 4 hrs of my life and i want to pull my hair out. all i want to do is root and kill the bloat. can you help a brotha out?

Hello people,
I am a newbie here, and I would like to root my Sony xperia T build 9.1.A,1,140
I have tried bin4try rooting system and it all went through fine, but after starting the phone I downloaded rooting checker and it said that my device was not rooted. This was also confirmed when trying to use lucky patcher. I did have however the SuperSU app installed.
Then I withrew that root just in case from the removal option, and tried to do it through the DoomLord method. Whilst installing it said that my device was not supported. Since then I have been reading and trying to figure out how to upgrade my build version to 141 in order to root it through DoomLord method, and I have the boot.img from the stock .141 kernel. I am just a bit confused and don't know how to play it safer.
Also, I have tried installing the CWM but since I don't have a rooted phone it didnt let me install. I now have a stock Xperia T with android JB 4.1.2 build 9.1.A.1.140 and would really like your help to see what I can do.
I will now head to bed, as my brain hurts from so much information, I hope to get this sorted soon.
Thanks a lot to you all for your time and effort!
Sincerely,
Jose
UPDATE
I forgot to mention that I tried to install CWM but it didn't let me because the phone was not rooted. Also there is apparently no way to unlock my bootloader.
This morning I donwloaded the 141 tft file, a polish version, and decided to flash it into my phone. After flashing and starting the phone, the sony wave colour thing did several loops for about a minute or two. The the phone started as usual and everything works fine except for internet data.
AT THIS POINT
I do not know where to proceed, I go in mind to now try rooting my phone through Doom's method but I am afraid that maybe I can screw it up more or root it but still have no mobile data which would be almost useless to me.
Please I would really appreciate the help of anyone.
THANKS!

from what i understand you can't flash a custom kernel unless ur bootloader is unlocked!! You may have to flash an appropriate firmware with flashtool that is rootable and then try to protect root and then try a fota but don't use seus or pc companion!! Someone correct me if i'm wrong!!
