Just bought a GN and I've never used a screen protector before for my previous phones, only cases. What would you recommend based on your own experience?
I'm leaning toward screen protector because I don't want to have a clunky, huge abomination of a phone, but then again, I don't want to lose the glassy feeling of a naked screen...recommendations please? Thanks.
I use the regular Verizon ones. Work great, do the job just fine.

Also, I use a speck case which has a thin profile and still protects very well.
i use a zagg screen protector and a cruzerlite tpu case, feels good in the hands n fingers
Better safe than sorry.
Check out the cruzerlite androidified a2 cases on amazon. They protect, they're cool, cheap and highly rated. There's a buy 2 get 1 free deal.
I also advise a screen protector because the galaxy nexus has no gorilla glass. People seem to like XO Skins because there is no "orange peel effect", it looks true to the screen, and it can heal itself if scratched. Of course, you will lose the glass feel(some say that xo skin has a slightly rubbery feel) but it's a small price to pay for a $400+ investment. Don't get the case fit because it doesn't cover the entire screen.
I've never really used screen protectors on any of my phones either and they still look like new. On my GNex, I only use a case. I just wipe the screen with a soft cloth once in a while to get fingerprints off.
I dont use a screen protector but somehow my screen has a scratch on it now about an inch long. Idk how it happened and have never scratched any other screens so i think a protector would be a worthy investment since the screen isnt gorilla glass. I sometimes put on a case (default verizon, really nice actually not too big) when i go out but just as often I leave it off because its so nice naked.
I have total body skin from Bestskinsever. From time to time I use my SGP ultra capsule, Mercury and Diztronic r3 with it.

I just use a screen protector I got from Verizon. They waived my $30 upgrade fee if I bought it so I'm happy Case wise, I just bought a Cruzer Lite Androidified A2 High Gloss TPU Soft Gel Skin Case in green and it's shipping in tomorrow. I'm excited.
To be honest I prefer having a screen protector than a case..I've looked at the otter box and while it looks great it does add considerable bulk and they are pricey...in the other hand screen protectors are lightweight and inexpensive if you know which one to get. You can pick a
GEARMAXX screen protector for cheap...They sell on ebay and are high quality, lightweight and durable!

Well.. I managed to scratch my screen somehow.. just a small, almost undetectable scratch but still.. made me feel like **** all day long..
XtremeGUARD screen protector - I just bought one for 5$ incl shipping, I've heard only good things about it really, anyone has any experience with it?
I thought this screen was fortified glass. How did you manage to scratch it? I use ghost armor. Expensive but good.

Not that fortified apparently.. I have no idea how it got the scratch.. it NEVER leaves my pocket, and I have nothing in my pocket besides my phone.. so I was really surprised. And bummed.. the thing is that its barely noticeable but just knowing that its scratched really upsets me.. oh well, maybe it'll be less noticeable with the screen protector on.
Xtremeguard is very good for the money. Best budget screen protector IMHO!
When I have money, I go Zagg though
I haven't used Xtremeguard on a Nexus yet, but I've used them on two other phones of mine and have loved them. I personally haven't gotten any orange peel, and the fit has been good. The customer service is good too if you get shipped a botched one.
When I get a nexus, that's probably what I'll be buying.
I just got the 3 screen protectors and hate them all
1. Case-Mate: hate it cause it's not clear
2. Rearth (Came with my Ringke SLIM): It's cut to the same height/width of the screen, but because of the curved glass, the edges don't stick
3. Martin Fields: WTF, it's an orange peal orgy.
I've read lots of negative reviews about the Zagg.
I haven't heard of Ghost Armor. Is it 100% clear and does it fit without pealing???
I so wish Power Support would make SPs for Android phones, it's a killer product on my iPad and my wife' iPhone.
These things are amazing. Had them on 4 Phones and they are so clear and easy to apply.

I recommend XOskins or the Flex by SGIPEN.
I want to find a wet apply screen proctecor (Horrible at putting screen protectors on)that covers everything but the catch is i don't want a rubber feel to it i want it to feel like glass or smooth like plastic. I don't care about glare or finger prints because they can come off. Like I said all I want is wet apply,no rubber feel to touch, doesn't take away from the beautiful screen.
Please help and I looked at the poll they had but didnt hint on the info im looking for.

I have the XO Skin protector and while there is some tackiness to it, it's not as bad as others I've had in the past. I still use Swype without issue.
I don't think any of the wet application protectors available will suit your requirements. They all have some degree of "grip" to them. The only "smooth like glass" protectors I know of are dry applications.
Oh i see lol well what about the flex?
Xtreme Guard has been working great for me. No orange peel and they are only $1.99.

I find the XO Skins to be the most forgiving for micro bubbles under the screen protector. The only time that I haven't had a perfect application of the screen protector, was when I got a piece of lint or fiber under it.
Looks good and lasts pretty long with warranty to back it up. Only thing is its expensive compared to some you can find on ebay, but I believe there is a 40% discount code floating around somewhere from memorial day sale
XO skins man. Fits perfect and barely noticeable. If you use a case make sure you get the case fit. Love it. Used to have the zagg invisible shield but IMO opinion XO skins destroys it.

Like the guy on top said. Make sure it'll fit your case. I had a flex screen protector and it felt smooth but still rubber like. My cruzerlite case ripped it right off. My otterbox defender left impressions on the screen protector. Try a dry one. They're only $2 for 6 of them with free shipping.

i found on Verizon store a 3pack of dry screen protectors for $11 ;-) (i don't like the wet ones) it fits perfect on my GN from Sprint ... is really hard to tell that there is an SP on it .

Take the Brando Ultra Clear. You won't find anything better.
My Samsung Epic 4g took a turn for the worst as I dropped it, the screen shattered among other things, so I'm moving on to the Epic 4G touch.
I have a set list of what I plan to buy for the phone, as of reviews and such.
Case:
TPU-Case
Screen Protector:
SPG Stenheil Ultra Crystal
I can't seem to find anywhere where to buy this screen protector, I know Steinheil ultra crystal was the way to go back for my original epic, unless anyone has other suggestions, know where I can buy it?
I'm planning on using a thin and durable case for it, I was thinking of a slim extended battery (To not add bulk to the phone) but I'm not sure how much that'd be worth it.
Also, what is everyone else using? How are they working out?
I plan on eventually developing with this phone but this time I'm getting protection instead of using a bare naked Epic 4g to begin with
I've got the Trident Aegis case for this phone as it's one of the slimmer silicon / hard case hybrids and the blue one was on sale for $15 on Amazon (the black, green and red ones were $20 ish, and the camo ones were over $30 for some reason). It adds a bit of bulk but the way the silicon sticks out the middle of the back actually helps give better grip on the phone so even though its bigger, its easier to use one handed than the bare phone (I have small hands and it was hard to reach the upper left corner with my thumb while holding the phone in my right hand). The plastic portion has a nice texture (not glossy) and overall is a nice case. All four corners have exposed silicon for shock absorption.
I wasn't a big fan of the cheap clear screen protector that came with it, so I ordered some anti-glare protectors (also cheap). Many people don't like them as they detract from the sharpness of the display, but I think the protection, smooth feel (no sticking as you try to swipe, etc), anti-glare, and anti-fingerprint properties are well worth it.
Edit: I'll be able to review the fitment of a basic TPU case as well next week as my wife just ordered one.
I think these are what you're looking for:
http://www.amazon.com/SGP-Samsung-G...59197&sr=8-1&keywords=epic+4g+touch+steinheil
http://www.amazon.com/SGP-Samsung-Protector-Steinheil-Oleophobic/dp/B005O4W3PM/ref=pd_sim_cps_4
I'm using the USA-Gear Impact case on Amazon with the kickstand. Kickstand is awesome, case is not too sturdy but it's strong enough for light drops, etc.
I'm not using the Steinheil (13 bucks for a screen protector?) because even though it's probably amazing it's too overpriced imo... I got this one: http://www.amazon.com/GreatShield-S...r=8-2&keywords=epic+4g+touch+screen+protector and it's been fine for me so far
As for anti-glare ones (matte), I liked them at first, but after a while I did notice the quality of the display to be hindered by the anti-glare. It's a matter of preference; matte protectors do offer some decent anti-fingerprint tech
I have 2 tpu cases, a Trident Aegis and a Casemate tough. The Casemate is by far my favorite case. It offers good protection while being compact and lightweight. Also has a nice texture. And yes Steinheil is the best screen protector. I have tried multiple dry and wet application and was never happy. I got mine on ebay same with case.
I have a friend with one of the clear tpu cases for his att Galaxy S2, it seemed somewhat of a good quality case especially for the price.
I plan on getting the white epic 4g touch and the Ultra Clear by SGP as I feel as if it'll keep the originality of the phone the most.
I have the ultra crystal.. it attracts a lot of fingerprints.. looks phenomenal once you wipe off the fingerprints though
I gave my son my old e4gt. I bought him a trident kracken. Its a really nice case and comes with a nice screen protector

Was considering the tR SLIM, but decided it's too expensive to spend on one screen protector. The plastic ones work fine, the one I've got on my current phone has been perfect, no air bubbles or anything, so I think I'll stick with one of those.
I'm in the UK though, and the only Spigen plastic screen protector on Amazon or eBay I can find is the Crystal one, not Ultra Crystal or Steinheil or whatever it's called. Does anyone know what the difference is? Also has anyone in the UK got a recommendation for a plastic screen protector for the N5 from a known brand, not one of the cheap eBay ones?

Ultra-Crystal Steinheil from Spigen since it came with the case from Spigen I got off Amazon. I'll share my thoughts once I get it, it's due to come in the same day as my phone(which should be September 7th).
I have the ultra clear on my n4 and had it on my gs3. I love them, and have already ordered the ultra for my n5.
I am thinking about a glas.t though.

Not too long ago, Stack Social did a group buy of sorts for the nee iphone 5.
The deal was for:
iPhone 5S / 5 Case Tough Armor Protection Kit
FOR PROTECTION KIT 1
Screen Protector GLAS.t Slim - $29.99
FOR PROTECTION KIT 2
Screen Protector Steinheil [Ultra Crystal] - $13.99
Select Color
Smooth Black
All for the amazingly low price of $36.99
This would be great if they could do the same for the Nexus 5. I really like that GLAS.t.R and would love it on the N5. I ride a lot on my bike and stuff it in the back pocket of my jersey as well as putting the phones i have in my pocket. I dont want the screen scratched. I dont care how good Gorilla Glass 3 is, I know through daily use I'm sure I would end up scratching it.
I've been using Nexus 4 w/o a protector since the beginning, zero scratches here.
I keep my phone in a leather pouch.

You don't buy screen protectors for scratch protection as much as you do for minimizing the visibility of fingerprints. The N4 screen requires constant cleaning without it.

I have noticed that screen protectors do help this more than one might assume.
Do these come with a cut out for the light sensor on the right? I bought some cheap ones for my N4 and I had to cut the corner off for the sensor to work properly.
I orderd the glastr tempered glass protector. I have one on my Note 3, and it makes the screen feel like there is nothing on it (just as smooth as regular glass screen) whereas a plastic protecter is never a smooth.
I've used the Xtremeguard on 3 of my devices. It is a wet-application protector. I've found them to be quite good!
Currently, you get 80% off when you use the SPOOK80 coupon code on their website.
Just ordered the Spigen SGP Glas.tr screen protector.
I'm definitely, eventually, going to get the GLAS.tR SLIM Premium Tempered Glass screen protector. Once it goes on sale for less than $30, that is
Is it really worth it to spend $30 for a glass screen protector or is this just for a peace of mind?

had it on all my phones/tablets and i love those screen protectors... pre-ordered for nexus 5, ships November 18th... 8£ -> a pair of screens!

No finger drag from friction, oleophobic coating, and actual impact protection. I've never understood the mentality of, "Hey, I'm not going to spend more than $3 to protect the glass screen of this $400-800 device! That's too damned much!"
What is the difference between the GLAS.tR and the GLAS.t?

Higher-rated hardness for scratch resistance and rounded edges on the protector itself to make it fit better with cases.
I have the zagg protector on mine just because they were the only ones available today in the shop and I have used them in the past

Glas.tR has rounded edges for a better feel on the device better impact dissipation both are rated at 8-9h hardness. The Glas.tR is also about 0.16mm thicker than the Glas.t so it will marginally make your device heavier otherwise the two are the same.
more information on the Spigen website. personally i'm going to wait til i see a review on one over the other but right now im leaning towards the Glas.tR
hope this helps.

Got myself a Google nexus 5 (used to use iPhone), does anyone can recommend me some gadget for nexus 5.
I absolutely love my cruzer lite bugdroid case. v Perfect in every way. Thin, durable, easy to put on, looks great, has a lip, and all ports are easily accesable. I can also tell you not to get the ismooth screen protectors. Mine has tons of scratches on it after a month of normal use.
I am currently using the Spigen Ultra Hybrid case, with a Spigen crystal screen protector. It protects well, and does not add much bulk.
Case: http://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Japanese-Protector-Graphics-Anti-Scratch/dp/B00FJJ38HY (comes with crystal screen protector)
Screen protector: http://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Protec...D6/ref=pd_bxgy_cps_text_y/183-3051436-7253342
BTW, the screen protector is plastic, but is smooth and applies well.
Thanks guys,
I think spigen case looks great (just bought it)! but for screen protector, I found there is brand called rhino shield, looks really awesome, have you guys heard this?
Personally I'm a fan of wet apply protectors. I have used Xtremeguard for a while. They seem to last forever as they are soft and seem akin to trying to scratch jello which just absorbs and reforms. The only difference i find is that they have an almost tacky feel. You become used to this quite quickly,IMO.
Personally i have always used spigens products their re-release of their glas line sp's work exactly like they shold have in the beginning. Case wise you cant go wrong with spigen imo, as for SP if you want dry apply it really depends on how much you want to spend and what you want from teh sp, i cant stand wet apply sps they have a tendency to give an orange peel effect and have a tacky almost rubbery feeling no where near as pleasant to use as the PET dry apply let alone the tempered glass (which feel as if you have nothing on the phone) ive not heard anything specifically about rhinoshield but take a look aroudn the forum and search around i rmr there being several threads talking about rhino shield, i dont recall what they were or what they said or id link you to em.
- cheers
I'm using the SGP crystal hard surface screen protector without using any case :good:
SGP or xtremeguard screen protectors.
