Should i get my eirly upgrade to get galaxy nexus?

Yes. Yes. Maybe. And Yes. . It depends on what you want from your phone. If you want a pure Google nexus expirience get the nexus. Also that includes a very active dev community. If you want functionality, top of the line specs, great battery life, and HTC sense, go with the evo lte. Also, expect the evo lte to get updates much slower. Hope this helps

Depends what you're doing. Its pretty thin and powerful. If you decide to play a game or movie while plugged in for example (or streaming it) then the top of the phone gets quite warm.

Never played it. I'm sure it works fine unless the game is written badly or not updated for ICS.

What

So i had to go to sprint store the game works fine my other games is not supported yet hopefully soon they will. Lte was not on at the time. Phone heat wasn't that bad but phone is smooth even with that demo junk that got in the way and decided to use my upgrade on it

If you could get a rezound you wouldn't rather get the nexus? Rezound is using our same Qualcomm S3 MSM8600 chip.
As a phone, the S2 is absolutely fantastic. Does everything I want it to do. As a carrier, I'm still on the fence with t-mobile. Data speeds are plenty fast, but data reception seems to be a mixed bag.
well... when it comes to Reception, that is really the nature of the AWS technology which requires 2 wide bands 1700+2100 for up and down to work
so building penetration is always a compromise

Now that I am on the Galaxy S2, I can tell you that it is by far the best phone that I have ever owned. Even stock, it is absolutely blazing fast. After I put beastmod on it, the thing just flies, and this is before OCing. Keep in mind that ICS is supposed to be able to utilize dual-core technology to it's fullest so when the update comes up (it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when), our phones will be in for a nice tune-up. As for as internet speeds go, I can tell you that it is BLAZING fast. It is faster and more reliable than when I had my G2 (which was just last year).
I can't post pictures but I can tell you that the fastest I have ever gotten with my S2 (in the same service area that I tested my G2 just last year) is 31MBPS. For daily usage, I consistently get 7-14MBPS. I am downloading HD videos off of Youtube in a matter of 5-10 seconds. I am downloading and finishing music downloads as soon as it pops up in my notifications bar. The phone is fast in every way, and everything flows so well together. No lag, no hassle, it just works.
got my phone a few days back from my awesome girlfriend, amazingly fast, battery only lasts a day, from 9 till 6, as i always use data connection, 1850mhz, not much of juice for this 1.5 dual core monster, resolution is a draw back with this nice screen 4.52" i am talking about, only 480*800? meh, waiting for miui roms........ only alpha versions atm, touchwiz looks gay.
speaker is way better than i9000, louder at least! some people say they want metal back cover, i say hey, it is light!!! with this kinda size!
i would give 9 out of 10 for this phone, i wanna buy the sprint version, lol, cdma 2000. not available in china yet, too bad.
What app do I use to test for lines and blobs?

Basically this thread can be merged with this thread
[Article] Sprint's network sucks (nothing that wasn't known before)
On a serious note, the speeds were about the same on 3g and wifi.
Nexus had slightly faster uploads on 3g/wifi. E4GT had slightly faster download avg on 3g. They are roughly tied for download on wifi. None of the numbers were very impressive, but that is the fault of the network rather than the phone.
Further supports my decision to stick with the E4GT for now. I need to be blown away in order to even contemplate switching.
Thanks to qbking for the video and sfhub for the recap.

Debatable.
While we will always take better download speeds, upload is used when browsing the web etc as well so having a better balance between them could give better real world usage results.

See I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, I never seem to struggle with my data connection unless I'm just in the middle of the boondocks (and in Alabama, that could be anywhere lol) and typically at that point I'm driving, not trying to browse the web. Around town and the cities where my family lives and I visit often I always get a quick connection so, again, just not enough of a difference for me. But for others it might be more than enough.
The overall specs of the Nexus just don't seem like a huge step up from the E4GT, not nearly enough for me to jump on it without waiting to see what else might be in store in the nearish future (SGSIII).

There's no doubt that, if you don't need a new phone now, waiting for the SGS3 is going to be a better decision.
But, if you have the money or whatever, going from the SGS2 to the Galaxy Nexus IS a bit of a spec bump.

The only other thing I see bumping up is the display resolution.

If I recall correctly the GPU in the Galaxy Nexus is a bit better.
But yes, LTE and Screen are the two noticable upgrades.
LTE will be relatively significant by the end of the year and into next...
And I can only conclude that the screen upgrade is huge for a lot of people since SO many people buy phones based on the screen.
A pure Google experience with on screen buttons (with no need to root and flash) is also apart of the package.

Yeah the resolution isn't bad and you're right, if you have the money a ged device is always fun. Especially if you're in an LTE area. But by the time lte gets big I hope to see the sgs3 anyway.

You are right. However in my house I have no 4G except upstairs window. When home just keep wifi on and use my own internet. Even 3G and calls iffy in house. Without my Airwave my phone would be a brick most of time. Hope so called Network Vision improves coverage. I have no idea when lte is turned on if that will be any better than my current wimax 4g.

Force closes everywhere, could not get facial unlock to work. I just installed ICS Hydra rom on my E4GT and it runs SOOO much better than the Gnex. It's a good phone. I'm going to root it soon because in it's present state I feel that performance could be better and the gross amount of bloatware is incredibly annoying. I have used the speed test app and I'm T-Mo and managed to get a max of 27.80Mbps. Not to shabby. I did realize later that the size of the phone is quite big for my hands but the screen real estate makes up for it. I don't think I would have gotten anything else. Battery is great as well.

Im assuming you're kidding? Otherwise you would not be floating around the gs3 forum still?
If you are serious, what do you mean "didnt know whether you were coming or going"? What does that even mean lol?
and by mentioning the "htc one", im assuming you mean the "one S". So that being said, no removable storage card and no removable battery, doesnt that speak for itself? Good luck with that one, or did you overlook those two missing features?
If you are serious, can you explain why u chose the htc one s over the gs3?
To the other person, the note 2 looks nice but from what i was reading, it seems a little big.
And also, people keep mentioning the nexus. Is it better than the gs3 better?
I like it, overall pretty good. WiFi performance and Wi-Fi calling are very bad. If you are planning on using WiFi calling DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!
The s3 is light years ahead of the lg, that's a 2 year old phone that wasn't even that great to begin with. IMO the only other phone out right now to compare with the s3 is samsung's own Note2, but that's a giant phone and definitely not for everybody. If you wait a little longer LG's new superphone is around the corner but who know's when exactly it'll be released.

I love it so much. I do have an issue with the battery running out quickly but I think I have a faulty battery. Not sure. Other than that it's the best phone I've had. I don't think there's anything better out there.

true, but hopefully this will speed process up a bit if a lot of people voice their opinion... i mean you can do nothing and just wait or you can say something and then go back to waiting... so I'd rather say something, and if a lot of people start talking they'd start moving too.
from my experience with verizon and the thunderbolt's ICS update...it's not worth the time to hit up the social networks.
they'll just tell you it's coming to silence you then months go by without an update.

haha)) it's better to do it on social media, this way you get much better visibility and others sees that as well and hopefully verizon will feel somewhat ashamed and actually do something about it!
I used to have Verizon and now have sprint and struggling with school and full time job I sometimes forget to pay my bill. Verizon financial service cuts my service then makes me pay the re activation fee but with sprint I can call and tell them I can pay next week and they simply say okay.
But no 4g lte sucks but they do update the gnex rather quick.
Its a give or take with your service provider. I don't think there's that perfect provider right now.

Personally custom roms are better but its the principle that makes people go crazy for an update.
Also considering the vzw gnex have antenna issues, some people may actually need the update for the new radios

the beauty about #nexus is that ROM doesn't have any customization which in a lot cases causing instability for every day use, so I'd rather use stock ROM, but back to my HTC Thunderbolt days, I couldn't stand stock so I went w/ CM7 and I _LOVED_ it!
