Okay I`m having issues when I have say just 2 XDA tabs open. Either on FireFox or Chrome.
Well anyway Say if I open another tab or refresh one of those tabs it will kinda freeze and sit there then load instead of a sec it should take to load it takes about 10 sec cause of the freezing.
Okay Before yal say its the computer..
I have restored my computer about a month ago, Still have the issue on a clean install.
Also my specs are not low for this to be happening
Windows 7 Pro (Legal Copy)
2GHZ Intel Core i7
8GB Ram
2GB nivida Geforce
7200 RPM hard drive
and so on.
But this happens on all computers even my main(my best) computer which are the specs above I have this issue on firefox and chrome.
Anyone Else?

XDA is going through some changes to the system, and as a result of the this it is causing some problems to the site, such as lag, loss of search e.t.c.. This will all go away when they have finished, but the new changes will be worth it.

Occasionally XDA undergoes some slight changes and slows to a crawl for a short time. This is normal as the system is updated and search is indexed. However, if this is occurring frequently across multiple systems for the extended period you describe, then your video would help to diagnose the problem. If you log into your video's settings menu on YouTube, you should be able to set the video to public, or at least mark it as unsearchable. This way you could simply embed the video here or provide the link.

Honestly, it looks like a lack of RAM. Chrome is extremely memory intensive. It used to be lighter, but the recent updates that put tabs into their own processes made it more memory hungry overall. Five or six months ago was when that change happened, if I recall correctly.

I know what you mean. I occasionally have lots open as well, but experience no issues.
I have 5 tabs open now and had a dozen opened earlier when I was updating my radio thread. No lag, no issues. Similar to your specs except Win 7 Ultimate I got when I worked at MS last year. FireFox 12, up to the latest updates. I do have the ads turned off though in the same fashion the mods do as one of the "recognized" program benefits.

I've been wondering why my browser tabs get kicked out of memory after so long. Usually if I take a phone call or switch into a large app and return to the browser, I have to reload all my pages. I normally have 3-5 tabs open at once. With VZW's slow 3G it's a pain to reload and lose my place. Doesn't this phone have 1GB of RAM? I wouldn't think a phone call would cause the browser to be removed from memory would it? This has been plaguing me for years just wondering if there was anything I could do to prevent it.

Yes its just something to do with the latest ICS version, memory management is more aggressive with the browser or something. It drives me mad too. Sometimes ill switch to the homescreen for one second without loading a single thing, go right back to the broeser and it was kicked from memory.
Is the behaviour the same in the new Chrome Beta?
Yup, I find this a bit annoying, too.

Because Android doesn't offer true multitasking. It closes apps you are actively using and caches apps you don't ever use... Poor memory management and aggressive task closing makes for a poor user experience.

Yep. It's a little too aggressive. It's most annoying when i'm using Spotify or something. I might pause the music for a little while for whatever reason, run a couple apps. When I go back to Spotify I have to restart the whole app.
It should intelligently monitor usage and cache apps based off that...

I have this in my guide post but thought it needed its own post. If you have a capped data plan then you definetely need to check this out.
It has basically turned my 4GB plan into a 20GB plan!
The SuperUser's Guide: How To Extend Your Data Plan
Onavo Extend lets you get more out of your data plan, so you can do more web browsing and apps, consume more music, video and photos on 3G without breaking your data cap.
After you install Onavo Extend you can go back to using your phone or tablet as before. In the background, data usage from all apps and web browsing is compressed so that you do more with your Android’s mobile data month after month. And, if you travel abroad with your phone, the money you save could be substantial.
IF YOU'VE INSTALLED A CUSTOM ROM:
Some ROMs and kernels are missing important networking support that Android 4.0 APIs, and Onavo Extend, rely on.
If you've received a message saying your version of Android is unsupported, or if the application always says "service paused", please contact us via the "Feedback" menu item so we can help.
Trying a different ROM or kernel should help as well
Be sure to post your results! Be sure to include which ROM you are using!

no worries, it works though. Look at it this way, what do you have to lose?
I have verified it is working for me with 3rd party data trackers, and Verizon's own data tracker.
The great thing about it is you can turn it on and off. It also turns itself off when you are on wifi.
After running it for a week while I was on vacation and used very little wifi I definitely noticed a difference. I watched a Netflix episode of IT crowd, and few YouTube videos and saved over 1MB of data.
I have used it with news apps, Facebook, twitter, Netflix, YouTube, radarscope, weather bug, instagram, and mms pics.
The only issue I ran into was on the local news 9 app. Some images appeared as black boxes. If I adjust the photo quality to higher the images appear just fine though.

may save you data, but I wouldn't trust any app that you have to give full access to your network traffic. Looks like spyware to me.

I'm sorry, but i'm calling bull**** on that. There's no way on this planet that anything would compress a half hour episode down to that little.
I'm sure it probably works to some degree and compresses the data in a similar way to opera mini and skyfire and various other browsers that use proxies to compress stuff, but i think you may have read it wrong to come up with 1MB!

I agree, and even if it was why would a company provide such powerful servers that can do this sort of compression for free? There are only two ways the company could support themselves. 1. Advertisements 2. Sell user data like google does. I don't care about either so I'm downloading it.
I got a 10GB plan so no need for me but just out of curiosity has this worked for anyone?

Well, if you meant to say that you saved over 1 MB, that calls to question how you know this. Did the Onavo app tell you? Did you check the size of the netflix episode and compare your usage? Or some other way?
Also, a netflix episode could range from like 50 (if cropped for small screens/resolutions) to several hundred megs. Saving 1 MB in such a setting is hardly 5x the data, and shouldn't really be worth your time.
Now, I've come across this app before, and there are always people who like it and claim it works. What these people fail to ask themselves is HOW (the hell) it could work. If you think about it, about the only stuff on the web that isn't already pretty heavily compressed are html/text files. And they make up a really tiny part of your overall usage.
Also, compressing stuff is very cpu intensive. Unless ONAVO has a huge server farm somewhere, which processes every bit sent to and from every one of its users (not likely), the compression happens on the fly on each device. Even if that would work, it would really strain the cpu and drain the battery in no time.
Therefore, to quote a wise man, I wouldn't touch this app with a ten foot pole.
Sorry for the long post/rant.
No ones forcing you to try it. But its actually using amazons EC2 stack. Opera browser uses this same thing to save data usage.
Lol do you think this is some conspiracy theory? Onavo doesn't save any data, except if you want email compressed and then its asks for your permission.
Ya on video it didn't save a ton. But it didnt slow down the streaming either. Where I have noticed the most saving is text based apps like tapatalk and news apps.

Have you rooted your phone? It has not happened to anyone in this world in Stock ROM.
Look, the Amazing Spiderman 3D Live Wallpaper has a sign in the top right corner when we switch between homescreens. So, I think it might be something with the wallpaper you're using..
OR
It may be some app you downloaded that runs all the time (like a battery saver app) which shows some sort of sign when the screen is turned On and the phone is Awake.

Yes, it happened to me. Not 5 times, but I must say that the Stock Messages app is bad! Very, Very, Very bad!
It'll go away by itself.. At least now it doesn't happen with me... Actually its because HTC One V hasn't loaded all the threads and we command it to open a thread. So, after 1 second when all the threads (the whole messages app is loaded) it takes us back to show the full messages app loaded.
Ah great explanation, thanks man. Any new messaging apps that you would recommend? The phone is actually my mothers with that issue that has been not sending texts at random intervals and wanting htc error reports as well. It has a 3d wallpaper, not rooted and I don't think either of those have to do with the wheel. It's pretty much stock.

No. I won't recommend any 'cause I've never seen any! Also, it's not needed! You know... My memory RAM was too low (always 30-40MB free). But when I uninstalled many apps that I never used, with the phone getting faster, the messages app has also got smoother.
Now why did this affect the Messages app? --Because I uninstalled apps that took a lot of RAM, my RAM got released much after they got uninstalled. Now I have 70-80MB of RAM free and indirectly this helps the Messages app by allowing it to take RAM and store cache. Now I dont have any problem with Messages app..
Perform the following steps-
Clear the data and cache in Settings-Apps-Messages.
Open the messages app and use it.
Go to Settings-Apps.
Under the Running tab, gently tap on the green area at the bottom right (which indicates your free RAM).
The Running tab will then show the cached processes.
The more the memory is used by the Messages app, the more it gets smoother.
If no memory is used, let me and eveeyone on XDA know.

So i've only had the phone for a few days and started noticing lag mainly in the settings yesterday.
It was buttery smooth the first few days until yesterday. I'll try to create a clear description of what is happening.
Everything in terms of hitting applications, sliding/switching pages, and browsers seems smooth but I'm getting doubts since settings have started lagging. So as of now, the settings menu is where I really notice the problem. What happens is I would press any of the choices such as display, sound, storage, etc and it would light up blue as a sign that I pressed it. Basically, the blue lighting stutters/lags as it turns into a deeper color and fades away proving that there is some lag. That itself is very irritating on such a powerful phone. The page also lags a bit as it's opening so it's obvious that it does lag. I don't understand why something as simple as settings might be causing this?
have any of you guys noticed this? I tried clearing ram, restarting phone, messing with dev options by changing animation and something else to .5x while enabling "force GPU rendering." I'm running stock touchwiz on baseband T889UVALJ1 if that helps. Keep in mind i'm not really tech savvy so try to suggest things in an easy to understand way please.
Any help is greatly appreciated and I hope you guys can help me fix my problem!
Been using it for the past 1 month plus and I do not have any lagging issues. I am on stock rom as well.
No lag either, been using the Note 2 for 2 months now. Check your apps with BetterBatteryStatts (too many backgroundservices runing).

Thanks for the replies so far and before I spend some money on apps or what not, is there any way I can post a 5 second animation of what is happening? Kind of like a 5 second gif of my screen? A mix of a screenshot and video so like a screen vid? Are there are any apps that can do that(preferably free). I'll try to find an app that can do that in the meantime and will edit if I find something useful.
Edit: No idea what this is or how it ended up on my phone but could this be the culprit? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tgrape.android.radar
People say it's bloatware and s-suggest from samsung but i'm not sure why it would be shown as an app on the play store website
I have noticed the phone can lag a bit if you have a heavy live wallpaper running.
Just sharing my thoughts on this
did you modify anything? no lags on my N2.
normally i'd say if you leave your phone on for a few days in a row, clear the memory every once in a while (press and hold home, go task manager, ram tab, clear memory) or reboot it, just so you dont have anything residual in your ram.
when android sees that you have 2gb of ram, it doesnt auto kill as many apps as it would if you were to have only 1gb of ram (my note 1 autokilled sooooooo frequently that it was annoying), so your ram ends up getting filled with some apps that you only used once in a while.

I wrote that I tried clearing ram and restarting phone but it didn't help. Thanks for trying though
Yeah, I get a bit of lag here and there, specially if I haven't cleared running/background apps in a while.
I just do it from the task manager, and also check out what apps are using the most battery, and possibly therefore are some of the likely culprits.
I actually use this app called Carat, which is an "Energy bug detector app" (whatever that means), but it helps identify apps that are draining the battery, and incidentally, partially contributing to the lag.
Also obvious thing like live wallpapers or touchwiz in general (including all the 'special' Samsung features like smart rotate, smart stay, smart motion) probably add to it to. Nova launcher and a static wallpaper might help.
I'll try to post a video sometime soon showing the lag. It's not serious lag, but it does stutter and lag a decent amount compared to my first few days which is what sucks.

Well I have a T-mobile Galaxy note II. It should be the 4g LTE variant but lte is not available yet. I think it is the n7105
Under the settings, I only have gsm/wcdma, gsm only, and wcdma only.
I'm not sure what I have to do
Anybody experience lagging on the xda app. Im getting some stuttering when scrolling. Mine's running on full stock rom even when I clear the memory...

You can try enabling Force GPU rendering in developers options. That usually helps with that, or at least it seemed to in my case. Report back if it actually helped
quick update:
I found a vid and my lag basically looks like this http://youtu.be/0qyijcTeHcU?t=2m27s
Look at when he clicks on display, there is clearly some lag even if it is half a second - 1 second. I'm almost certain that my lag is even worse than that, but not by too much. It's just a pain in the ass after the first few days. Would flashing a custom rom like jedi X 7.2 help out with this since it's running a bravia engine?

Actually it did :good: Unfortunately I've lost 10% battery within minutes of using the XDA App. Unticked...I clicked thanks for your help mate.
This is annoying as shet.... I'm looking at a page where I need to scroll down or up, and instead of it scrolling, it blinks totally white and then loads again scrolled up or down. Its doing the same thing on my S4..anyone else?

There have been a lot of Chrome problems reported. I'm using Firefox and haven't encountered any problems yet.

I just tried that and testing now. I installed Firefox due to it and was just getting adjusted to it. We will see if your suggestion works.

Heh. I live in FF on all my devices and have everything synced so that's [luckily] not an issue for me.

Try chrome beta, works well for me
I am seeing the same thing here. Hopefully Google will be pushing out an update for Chrome to fix this soon.
As shmaque said, disabling JavaScript in Chrome also stopped this from being a problem for me. Of course that may become a problem of its own when browsing the internet these days. So far so good.
Well, as expected, I ran into some trouble logging in to a couple websites with JavaScript disabled, so I have re-enabled it. The problems that a number of us were seeing were limited to xda-developers.com as noted at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380099.
Changing the default XDA site layout (located at the bottom of every XDA page) to 2010 has fixed the issue for some of us. Credit goes to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44038082&postcount=17 for bringing the idea to my attention.
