that's pretty much all of them. since it is all opinion based i suggest trying out a few and seeing how you like them. I nor anyone else can tell you what you will like.

I've tried a few ROM's on an old SGS2 like MIUI, Cyanogen & others, but they don't feel right. I really just need suggestions on what would be good to use. Your opinions would help me decide on what to check out & try.
Much love

RD - MIUI ICS by Dekky and Cyanogen mod are the best in my opinion. I would suggest the latter if first rom.

im using IceColdSandwich 7.4 atm which is good but sometimes a little sluggish. if you want one that "just works" and wont cause you any issues, go for Android Revolution 6.3.3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040

I have tried many Roms and found CyanogenMod 7.1.0 the most stable, every other Rom has some minor issue. I cannot wait for the next stable CyanogenMod Rom.

Try them and make up your own mind. No one will be able to tell you what you wll like or what will work best for your device. This is a Development forum which means that all roms are expected to have bugs.

I personally like sense roms over cyanogen. They feel more smoother and faster than cyanogenmod.

I've been using Android Revolution HD and Virtuous.
They're really nice, and better than what I they would be like.
I'm waiting on the update on Virtuous that's going to happen the next couple of days, they're happening to port over Sense 3.5.
I would personally recommend Virtuous Unity 2.37. No bugs, fully functional, fast and it's good on the battery. I also use the recommended radio with matching RIL aswell.

I've tried RCMix Runny for a bit, I liked it alot but I don't like the boot animation that much.
I'll stick with Virtuous 2.39.0 for now ;D.
I would love to have a ROM which will be fast as CM and have Theming like Sense 3.5 with SRS/Dolby Audio .
OT - CM7.1 is nice.

Looking for new rom

Hi
I am new to rooting to my phone and would like to know if any roms that supports traditional Chinese and Korean?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I guess that the MIUI ROMS support that...considering they are made by devs who are originated in china and all.
You can find the version for our phone in their site here
Hope it helps.
Edit: I don't know if it supports korean. Also MIUI is fairly heavy on the phone. If I find myself some time and no-one has already replied, I might be able to look it up.
Thanks for the reply, is there a leedroid Rom for the HTC Desire Z?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I'm not aware of Leedroid for Desire Z. However, if you do not require a chinese UI, only the ability to read and write Chinese, then any ROM will have this ability.
For input you may need to supplement it with the likes of multilang keyboard for chinese input, if you choose to go with a non-sense RoM. Many sense ROMs will have the HTC chinese input method intact.
If you are a Mandarin speaker I'd suggest Google PinYin method anyways since its one of the best, and supports both tradition and simplified chinese.
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
MIUI has been made by japanese third-party devs. also i like RCMIX3D 4.0 ROM. and i thought that it also supports chinese and japanese.android 2.3.5 sense 3.5 download: http://uploading.com/files/7c69c9c7/RCMix3D_v4.0.zip/
I am in favor of the MIUI..great interface, stable and great performance.
Just regarding about overclocking the processor, would some of the time include the application to do this? I don't really need the Chinese input. I would maybe go and try out a few different roms as I have just downgraded to 2.2 and rooted the phone.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
You might try Andromadus if you're looking for bleeding edge. So far, its the smoothest and most capable ice cream sandwich build available. You can find it under the desire z/g2 rom development section, and I'll edit this post to include a link later. Or if you prefer a more stable, established rom try CyanogenMod 7.1 from CyanogenMod.com. both will support Chinese among other default languages, and are both far more capable than the stock sense rom and both include OC as well. Hope this helps..

I would HIGHLY recommend Ice Cold Sandwich, the homescreen is actually smooth and seems to be running at 60 FPS. It also has HEAPS of tweaks because it's based on AOKP. Give it a shot if you really want ICS.
Well, if u know chinese, u can go to the bbs.gfan.com to have to look at their rom. Although most of them are originally from xda, they may give u some different experience. U should check it out

Unless youre sold on the UI of ICS id give one of the Sense 4 roms a spin (taz's for example) theyre actually stupidly stable and smooth!

I would definitely try the MIUI roms. They're great!
I think Sense 4.0 is a disappointment. Tried it on my Desire Z and it's not what I expected. The stock Android is much faster and better.
The MIUI ROM's absolutely don't work for me... Found them very laggy, but it does have some great functionalities.
I just use JIBwich, a stock Android ROM as it is on the Galaxy Nexus.

I would very strongly recomend the ILWT CM7 build (available under the development section). You will never want to move away. Atleast that has been the case with me, after trying sense and miui, I found home with this one.
Its fast, issue free, pretty optimized (although got further optimization you can use v6, akmo or rmp) and is pretty frequently updated (generally on every major CM build).
Been using it for almost a few months and can't even think of moving, not to any ICS either (personally, don't like the virtual keys always on screen on the ICS).
Hope it helps - cheers!

I flashed to that rom. I really miss how the the suggestions for the keyboard in ics. Im glad to back on a fully functional on-screen keyboard that doesn't lag. I was using the unofficial cyanogen mod 9. It had issues here and there. I kind of miss ics for its looks.

There is no "best" Rom. You got to figure out what ui you like and what bugs you are willing to live with. Also depends on what you use your phone for mostly.

Yes, AR 6.x is good and fast. Don't go with AR 7.x - I tried it and IMHO it is slower than 6.x. Also my favorite with Sense is LeeDroid.

Yah . . .u r right. . ARHD 7.0.4 is slower than 6.3.3. . .since its ported. .
But as i said . . . 7.0.4 with rom cleaner and rc tweaks wil give you the best 3.5 experience. . . .
I'm surprised this thread hasn't been shut down yet. Like I said, there is no best rom.

You first gotta ask yourself what do you want on your rom. Sense or Vanilla based. GB, ICS or JB. Tweaks... there's plenty to choose

Not really. Stock ROMs have bugs too, just that they're not any major ones like custom ROMs in development have. No software is bug free. Stock ROMs probably have the same level of bugs (or less) as stable CM 7.2 for our phone, which are small and indiscernible. Nothing major.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
go for one of those, both very stable and fast. battery life is fine too.
ics: icecoldsandwich 8.6.1
gb: cm7.2
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
CyanogenMod is really stable and fast, has really good performances.
But if you want to keep HTC Sense I recommend (like others on this thread) Android Revolution HD 6.3.3.
You have only to keep in mind that the ROM's choise is a very subjective thing.
Better try all the ROM and see by yourself the one which satisfies you.

Best stable ROM (any version of android, for general usability)

I'm giving my old HTC Desire to my friend, but before I do I want to flash the best ROM for a laymen's use, in terms of stability, battery life and speed.
Personally, I have a Galaxy Nexus with JB and I love it - I think JB heralds a new era in which android finally shows that iOS is just hype and not god.
I've seen there are ROMs right the way up to Jelly Bean, which I find pretty amazing considering the age of the Desire handset - however, there must be quite a few issues to iron out, and I doubt that my friend, who will be more worried about his phone working than whether it's up to date with android, will appreciate these issues.
So which ROM would you recommend? Quick answers appreciated cause I need to give him the phone within two hours! Lol
Thanks for your help

I really enjoy Mr. mephisto and RSK team rom, the 3.5 sense is awsome and the AMAZE cam is.. well.. AMAZING.
I have it for almost 2 months now.
It gives the old Desire a great new look!
and with the aroma installer is super customized.

It's beautiful and stable, but it's too heavy (read slow) even on fast sd. If you have to sell the phone, just install stock rom (with sense), or an aosp like cm7 or oxygen.
No man, install stock Oxygen rom , create partition ext4 for a2sd. And that is it. Rom is completely bug free, and it has bedt battery life. Speed is great, and no laggs at all !

Oxygen 2.3.2 + thalamus r4 kernel. Use Oxygen r2 hboot. If You need more space, with GParted make ext3 or ex4 partition.
I've found it best combination (almost one year using it). It's not full of widgets like Sense roms, but You can install Fancy Wigdets or Beautiful Widgets for clock and weather similar to Sense.

If you want stability and speed, use gingerbread-based ROMs.
But if you want a newer android, jellybean is smoothest than ics.
As JB ROMs, there are many, some with more graphics and some other with more features... but I would suggest CyanoMod007 (best if installed with INT2EXT+ using a class 10 microSD card), which I consider the best one for balance between stability/speed and features/compatibility.
Otherwise, if you can also try SlimROM which is even more fast but contains the minimum of features.
Hope this helps a bit, however the best thing is always wipe and flash until you find the ROM that best suits your needs
Thanks, I've proven the VJ Cyanogenmod, but the camera didn't run and I had problems with some apps..
