Hi
Any news on how long battery last on the new official release?
Im currently on Pays ROM, and battery last between 24-48 h, with 3g and wifi turned on and daily use of phone, sms and browsing.
Just tried some ROMs that didnt even last a whole day
In 3 hours I have nearly used 50% of battery and that is with 3 short phone calls.
System, cell standby, wifi and phone idle account for 80% usage. Was using a different froyo rom before putting oem one on and did not have this type of drain.
Also not using an app killer as people have been saying that the system can handle the apps, that has not been the case and will install again.
My battery drain has been up massively since I went to 2.2 with the OpenDesire ROM. Phone standby takes most of it. What's causing such excessive usage? Even on the official ROM now :-/
What ROM's are you guys getting best battery with?
You should post on which ROMs you have the battery drain...
I have had massive battery drain on all ROMs until I started using the rooted 2.2 OTA. I would have to charge my phone twice every day but now it's great, I have 65 percent left after a full day of heavy use.
Edit: tried almost every FroYo ROM before this.

Which ROM are you using? I can't decide which one to download
Battery life is also my only problem with this otherwise amazing phone
Maybe it's the rom/radio combination!?
I had PaysDesire v2.3 before installing the OTA 2.2. The battery with PaysDesire with average use went from 100% to like 60% in 12 hours. With the latest one, i lost 8% in 2 hours but with over average usage. Testing the camera, installing apps, setting up things...
That is why I am still not convinced that the battery sucks on 2.2 and I will wait few days (until the shine wears off, as Coldplay would say) before bringing my final decision.

yep ,I now about
you use OTA officiall not ruted
Doesn't you guys' phones' display use most of the battery? For me it's at least 70% of the battery usage.
With SetCpu I use about 1% battery on standby, but as soon as I use it, it drains battery like crazy, even though the brightness is set to 25%...
I am using this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741775
I took it off charge at 7 a.m. an have used it quite heavily today and the battery is still at 50% so I am pleased.
8 Hours and im on 68 %
2 Hours 3D Gaming and browsing 1 Hour.SmS/Few Calls between.
Official 2.2 Froyo ROM.
Wait for Kernel Sources and i think Battery Drain will fall and fall =)

I'll second that. Definitely getting better battery performance on ieftm's ROM than any of the 2.2 ROM's I've used before including Neophytes's, DeVillain, and various others. I've also got much more memory too.

you win the prize for the 1000th desire user posting in the wrong section. The moderators are probably going to win their 100th prize for not moving threads/warning people. And we'll just end up with the 10th thread about battery life scattered in every place.
that aside, no rom or os version has changed a fig for me about battery. It's still good in reasonable terms.

+1.i am getting really good battery performance on this ROM.
but from my experience even from WinMO you will never find a single ROM on which people would agre on 100% that is good or bad.everyone is getting different results.everyone has different apps instaled, using different combination of services (push mail,wi fi,3G...).
Someone will always claim good battery life and others will say it is crap.this is really about testing what works for you the best.
Sorry for my english guys...
When i have a good connection then my battery is ok. After 16 hours i have still 12%. If my connection is bad (i'm in a building) so it search for connection and lost it again i see the battery drain and my battery is empty after few hours...

I have decided to buy a new Desire phone.I read on many forums that battery backup on Desire is very very bad.I need this phone for gaming atleast 1 hour a day.Whether there are any tricks to increase the battery or the battery backup has no problem?
Desire's battery consumption isn't so good, but to play 1 hour a day, is ok even with stock roms.

What is the standby time if i give a full charge?
If you're not using it could be around 5 days.
With moderate use 2 days.
Heavy usage 24h.
Sent with smoke signals.
I think with heavy usage phone working 24 hours is not too bad.Tell me what will be the battery life with the following usage:
1.5 hours gaming,1 hour browsing,1 hour music,45 minutes running apps and always running a live wallpaper.
Probably around 24-36 hours.
Is a bit impossibile to know how your battery will "live" with this usage, because not all apps have the same battery drain... so, we can only imagine...
Live wallpapers use a lot of battery, wi-fi drain is more than 2g/3g network drain... i think that using MIUI or AOSP rom, with this usage, you can stay 24h without recharge... with stock roms 12-16 hours maximum...
Sorry if my english isn't perfect

But select anyone from those two.
From these two Desire, but in this price range there is also Samsung Galaxy S which is slightly better from hardware point of view but i would get Desire anyways.
Galaxy S's price is higher in our country.120$ more than these phones.I need a good phone in 340$-360$ price range. And what about HTC Google Nexus One and Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro?
...and do you have any pro tips on how you make it last longer.
I get aprox. 9 hours out of my phone with heavy use all day, 806 Max, performance governor with an irc client running and my email fetching from about 5 accounts every 5 min. With Facebook and twitter running in the background.
I personally think that is pretty awesome battery life.

OK I take that back I just tested to see how long my battery would last playing a game and it barely lasted am hour from 100% to 25%. I'm pretty shocked and irritated. I think I definitely need a new battery or a new from that's not in beta still, but not too many rooms out there for CD a wfs.

OMG my battery life is awful since the update to 2.3.5 im having to charge it twice a day and thats using Juice Defender aswell, i use it a lot but only for twitter, messages and Whatsapp, i never play games on it.
i used to be able to go a full day on a charge but that was on the Original 2.3.3 rom

Honestly, you are the smartest dev left on that team...
So, I will share.. radio eats up battery and display does.. so, I don't check my emails frequently.. in fact have network off most of the time.. operate on wifi and sip when needed, gps never used.. display at a minimum with a fairly quick timeout.. power saving features in kernel, undervolted and underclocked more and more as battery expires.
Wouldn't release a rom like I use to the general public bc most would consider the stuff I disabled as broken, but I only allow what I use, when I use it... Currently trying to eek 72 hrs out of this lil phone Not gonna make it on this try though.

After I calibrated my wifes WFS it lasts more than 3 days up to a week if there is no usage. Before the calibration she had to charge it every day.
Check Play for "Battery Calibration" and download the app. Charge your phone to 100% and then run the app. Worked great on her WFS and I will see on mine soon.
Of course Sense was mostly disabled/removed and here are no useless widgets for social networks running. Wifi-Off, GPS-Off

I use the battery of my broken HTC-Explorer. Its exactly the same model. So the original one can stay in the tray for a while.
this is a thread that gather all the info from forumer as u can see a lot of forum member post about bad batterylife(yes its a lot,i know it)
that means the battery life is one of concern of people.
so i started a thread to gather all the info from member , maybe we find someway to work out for longer the bl of our devices, and move along with ur portable charger or battery all time
before smartphone , all using 2G, after the 3G came , i see the batterylife drain significantly , so we're here to compare the 2G,3G and 4G battertlife
Follow this
1.ROM
2.kernel
3.2G,3G and 4G / country / telco
4.CPU clockspeed
5.BatteryLife
6.average rating 10/10
7.usage
8.screentime
0.add on tweaks or app to maintain the BatteryLife
0.remark on how it drains
please do share all ur experience, and all based on 2G,3G and 4G not wifi user
in XDA , u share ur 1 minutes , uncountable members' gain
so come'on dont be shy :)
1.RD miui 2.6.29 OneX [29/6/12] --- just flashed for 5 days
2.kernel franco r11->r12
3.3G preferred
4.1.0Ghz
5.5hours
6.5/10
7.use PowerAmp all the time,FB,Flipboard
0.using system tuner reclock at 1Ghz
0.it drain 1% per 2 min
You should add to the list : screen time
For what? this is getting funny. Another "my battery is bad" thread? Keep in mind that this is quad core HD smartphone not nokia E51 ! Your phone good score should be 2 DAYS! And when in heavy use, it will be couple of hours! this not gonna change!

It looks like you dont know anything about how 3G works and why it may affect BL. Its all about range, protocol switching, and BTS placement.
Keep in mind, this is SMARTPHONE with QUAD+1 CORES and HD display. The good battery life score with average usage is 1 DAY. with heavy usage is couple of H. If you want it to work a week without charge, get nokia E51.
Poeple need to understand that there is no such topic as bad battery life in such monsutros smartphone. Live with it or leave it.

Yeah after a few days struggling with a battery draining issue I managed to solve it and now my HOX has an amazing battery life Even though it is still facing some battery draining with the camera (Not to mention the scratched camera lens). It lasts 2-3 days with normal gaming. 5-6 days of normal usage (without gaming)

Well I updated the software build to the latest. Than I do a factory reset. After that, I use my phone normally until it shows me the warning of "the battery is lowerthab 10%", I turn off my phone completely then charge it for 8 -> 12 hours then turn it on and use it normally again. Repeat those steps 3-4 times and your HOX's battery life should be fine

like abaaaabbbb63 said, too many variables. only way we can answer that is for you to tell us what you do on wifi (browsing/streaming music/email), and how much time on you are expecting...
time on wifi will last a long time if you have good signal, not syncing anything, and screen is off
biggest consumer of battery should always be screen if you're actually using the phone, so keep brightness low if you wanna save battery.
new kernel might make a little difference, not going to double it or anything, have you tried searching for it yourself?

just one info; MW roms in standby consume cca 5-10mA of your battery (you can see that with the battery monitor widget) which is 0,7% to 1,2% of your battery in one hour (on my 2 year old battery, which lost cca 20% of initial capacity)...which means you can have all connectivity enabled all the time (email, whatsapp, viber, etc.), and in "clean" standby your phone can live up to 100h.
and that is the max as much as I saw, that can be achieved with old 1400mA, stock battery.
