[Q] QPST Madness Please Help - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have my Epic Flashed to Boost everything is perfect except my data.
My Epic is on FC09 and its on the stock deodexed rom.
I'm using QPST 2.7 323 I have a tried newer version as well.
I'm using Windows 7 Professional x64
Under the M.IP settings QPST keeps switching the Active user to Profile 1 when I set it to Profile 0. For hours I have been going around in circles. Every time I set the profile to 0, write it to the phone, and reboot I get a Error 67. When load up QPST again the user profile is set to 1.
If I delete profile 1 the 3g symbols will pop up and no error 67, but 3g doesn't work. I tried reversing the info in the 2 profiles since it automatically reverts to profile 1 and I got the 3g symbols to pop up with no error 67 but it still doesn't work
I have tried writing the profiles 1 at a time and it still will switch the default profile to 1.
I just don't get it. I have searched for hours trying to find a solution. Does anybody know another way to get profile 0 to stick as the active user? Am I doing something wrong? Please help I'm at my wits end.

Suggestion Needed

My problem is I can't access QPST, after I made a change to my ppp config...the weird part is, Odin works, and I can reset the phone in download mode. But when it comes back on, it keeps swithing into airplane mode...also, its giving an error message.TI have all the proper drivers installed...and the phone works...I just cant think of away to get back into my DIAG MODE so I can do programing. I have another post with more detailed info....I'm reposting here because I cant post in the development section yet.....
So...what error message is it giving you? What rom are you on? What change did you make to your ppp config? And are you using the proper modem for your build?
rom is the 2.1 stock..i didnt get a chance to change that yet...In ppp config, I changed my NAI Tethered..from boost to blank..then i changed the user ID to blank.... and I copied the HA AND AAA's from profile 0 & 1 to the epic from th Tp2....when I wrote to the phone it reboted.....as far as the modem I'm not sure but I think is odin..i downlaoded on it and tired to restore everything to stock but that doesnt work...
the message error says Sorry! The process com.android. phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
ummmm try a hard reset, or data restore... see if that resets the information that you changed, cuz the information you deleted and changed is the sprint programming so you might not have signal for data, atleast when i do my toroubleshooting i see the HA's and user name and stuff
I dont think the issue is with the ppp config..Its the NV items I wrote to the phone in cdma workshop...when the phone reset, and came back on it stopped reading the port. the phone can connect in pda but you can not acess cdma or qpst from there..I cant change back the NV items

[Q] My cspire r800x(cdma) thinks its a Verizon phone.

Earlier today I had a successful attempt at installing FXP's CM9 126 build. As a requirement I had to flash the R800x_4.0.2.E.57_Verizon.ftf via Flashtool to my phone before I could flash the Rom. My phone's provider is Cspire(formally Cellular South), and after the ftf my phone is trying to make contact with Verizon for activation, leaving my unable to call or text on my own provider. I've tried flashing a nand backup I had of one of Codename Andriod that I created when everything was working perfectly, but it didn't fix the problem.
Thank you for your time and please let me know what I can to fix this.
Sincerely,

You'll need to change the build.prop and apn settings. Found this from a quick search with someone that has a working verizon build.prop that is said to work on cspire
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dgteu3ziweifix8/build.prop
and his working apn settings:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/6cs5tqwdlcstt3s/apns-conf.xml
Also found this:
You could push the apn with ADB but i just edited mine with root explorer in /System/etc and restarted the phone.
As for CDMA Workshop is a service software for CDMA phones it is used for flashing phones to different carriers to put it plain as possible in my mind but it can be used for countless useful tasks, just Google it to read more. But the below method was much easier.
Dialing ##7764726(##program) is used to manually program your phone.
After dialing ##7764726 press call it will prompt for a SPC password it should be 000000
Then click User Activation
MIN1 I put the last 7 digits of my phone number.
MIN2 put the first three of phone number(area code).
MDN is your 10 digit phone number.
CDMA Sys ID put 1996
IMSI_11_12 put 12
Then hit back and click on SID/NID Pairs:
SID_1: put 1996
NID_1: put 65535
After this hit back till you exit all the way back out of the menu the phone will reboot after it reboots i dialed *22801 it didn't say anything just sat at the activation screen for about 30sec. Then it said reprogramming the phone then rebooted agin after that i was back on C spire.
Links are a little old but this is all I could find:
SID Database if you need to find a different carrier
http://www.the-answerman.com/sidlist/index.asp
Also the SID/NID I used was found in this PRL breakdown:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1700374-New-PRL-60575-50575
The Second post of the page explains a lot more about PRL and SID/NID just good to understand what your kinda messing with:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19537266
Also i don't know if this is the best way to accomplish this task but it took me awhile to figure out this fix it worked for me but i can't guarantee anything also im not responsible if something goes wrong and you brick(its always possible) but i am willing to help to the best of my abilities
Good Luck and sorry for such a long post.

I don't think you'll need the 1. Just the last 7 numbers. Try that to see if it works. And just so you know, I'm on verizon so all my answers are coming from google at the moment lol
I left the number the way it was and finished the steps, everything is working as it should and I can call and text. Thank you very much. Now i just have to find a fix for Mobile data. I really do appreciate it.

Mobile data would be in the build.prop and the apn settings, You should be able to use pieces from the build.prop I posted to work whatever rom you're on. I got to assume verizon and cspire are close to identical since they're both cdma. Half way there right?

Help - mobile network state disconnected

My phone was working fine for a week or so. I had flashed a Legacy SERO phone over to this phone. Suddenly today the 3g icon disappears and under phone status, the mobile network state is always disconnected and I no longer have 3g data or MMS. Voice and SMS work fine.
The original donor phone works fine too (3g / MMS).
I've tried:
- flashing back to stock
- trying to reprogram NVItems (HA/AAA/Mobile IP stuff) back onto Note 2 (I think they were already there and I didn't change them, but it still doesn't work)
- tried to copy the APN for the donor phone over: but I cannot find a way to program APN on the Note 2, and isn't APN for GSM anyway?
- tried to copy the PRL from the donor phone over: but I cannot find a way to program PRL (tried DFS 4.0.1.1, which cannot read nor write the PRL)
This is really frustrating without data, can anyone help?

If anyone else runs into this, here's how I fixed mine:
I believe the problem was a combination of APN settings and the phone trying to go into LTE mode (which I don't have as a SERO classic user).
I had to turn off eHRPD and manually force the correct profile to load. I did this with:
##3282# => MSL => Edit => eHRPD (turn off)
then ##3282# => MSL => Edit => Others => LTE APN Settings => 3rd option (LTE - Sprint OTA). Oddly, before this change, none of the three options was checked, that could have been the source of my trouble.
Put it on CDMA mode only.
No cdma/lte. That will not work

[Q] AAA key for profile 1 shows up as all 00's in QXDM - Where can I find it?

I've searched around for the past couple days trying to figure out how to pull the AAA key from profile 1 on my OG EVO and I didn't have any luck finding what I need.
I've tried using QXDM:
I unlocked the phone using "spc 'msl'"
It confirms that the phone is unlocked
I entered "requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof 1"
the result is all 0's
I've tried running "adb logcat > c:\dump.txt" and ##DATA# in edit mode.
I edited the user and the aaa shared secret and pressed cancel
Looked through the log and I'm not seeing anything jumping out at me.
I did a search for what I already know as the HA key in hex and ascii and I'm not seeing it in the log either.
I've heard you can pull the profile 1 aaa key from nv item 466.
I took a look at the one that came off my phone and it's all 00'd out.
I downloaded the DFS demo and I can read almost everything on that phone except the keys.
My question is how can I pull the proflie1 - 6-digit Sprint key from an EVO?
edit: I originally said I was looking for profile 0 key - I already have that - I'm looking for the profile 1 aaa key.
-thanks Klown80 for pointing that out.

Profile 0 will be a 32 digit key, pro 1 is a 12 digit key. Does data work on the Evo currently? If so try going to settings, system updates, update profile.then try reading the profile 0 again.

you're right - it's the profile 1 key im looking for.
I updated my post and title to reflect that.
I just did a profile update and it shows all 00's
then i tried this:
factory reset and a ##RTN# reset - reboot - OTA activated - updated profile and ran "requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof 1"
still shows all 00's
for what it's worth profile 0 and profile 1 ha and aaa keys show up as 00's in QXDM
I restored back to the original factory image (baseband 2.15.00.11.19) I made before I ever rooted the phone to see if that makes a difference.
it didn't
Can anybody confirm that QXDM 3.11.36 can read the profile keys from an EVO?
Im using some HTC Diag drivers that only seem to work with XP even though a 32 and 64 bit driver was included in the zip.
Is there any way I can do some kind of memory dump to locate it?

As long as you have a working profile 0, you can get the phone to OTA and write your profile 1 for you completely. Are you on Boost or Sprint? Unfortunately it sounds like your keys may have got erased somehow, if it does not read in QXDM, DFS, or NV items (Item 466 or 1192 should have it). Does your data work right now? Try just using "requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof" that should read your profile 0 key, if we can get at least the profile 0 info the phone will take care of the rest. I have another idea we can try if you can not read profile 0 info. I also have htc drivers that work just fine for me on Win 7 32 bit if you want them, I have a 64 bit Win 7 driver too but have not used it yet so cant confirm it works. I have QXDM 3.09.19 and I know for sure it reads the profile keys, looks like you have a newer version so I assume it would work too.

I had a working profile 0 - I couldnt' pull the key using "requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof"
FWIW - I could retrieve it from 1192 and by running "requestnvitemread hdr_an_auth_passwd_long"
Out of curiosity - is there a similar command that pulls from 1?
my 466 was completely 00'd out.
I'm not too worried about it anymore - my issue is resolved now.
My problem was I couldn't get 3g working on my gnex.
You let me know the aaa key would be written as long as I had a working profile 0 so I looked for the key on my gnex.
I ran logcat on the gnex and I was able to see the key I was looking for.
I ran around for a few days with no 3g.
After I pulled the key from the gnex and re-wrote it to that same gnex - 3g started working.
Then I made a test call and got error 16.
After I talked to the sprint rep and rebooted - everything worked fine.
thanks for everything - looks like I'm good to go now.:victory:

If it says AN-AAA = fail then your profile 0 info is not correct. Make sure username and AAA is correct HA will be 736563726574. Look in NV item 466 or 1192 to see if your pro 0 32 digit AAA is in there, it will start after the "10"

One V CDMA - Problem in enabling data connection

I am using a HTC One V CDMA (Virgin Mobile USA) in India on Reliance CDMA network. The phone was flashed to Reliance and everything is working fine ie I can make/receive calls/sms etc. 1x / EVDO credentials have already been written to the phone.
Now the issue is that I am not able to enable data or the data connection doesn't get enabled automatically. When I try to enable data it says "Disconnected because service is unavailable". But if I press the "Activate this device" button in the settings section, an activation screen 1..2..3 comes up, then wait for 3-4 sec, the 3G symbol gets displayed meaning its able to make a data connection. Now if I go back to the settings page and enable data it successfully connects, and I am able to access internet at EVDO speeds. But after some idle time, the data connection is automatically disconnected and to reconnect I need to repeat the above process. Even if I intentionally disconnect data and try to reconnect, it doesn't happen and I need to go through the "Activate this device" process.
I believe some sort of initialization is missing which is done during the "Activate this device" phase and hence I am able to connect. What could be the reason for this? Is it some setting/configuration that needs to be enabled?
Please pour your valuable tips to resolve this issue.
Thanks
Fixed the issue with auto connection of data, not sure what fixed it exactly, but here are the last changes that I made after which it started working.
You need to use the tool QPST (I used version 2.7.378, an older version didn't work) for this.
In the M.IP tab, disable all profiles except profile 1
Then edit profile 1 and make changes (check attachment)
Then in RmNet tab enable auto connect for device 0 and 1.
After that
PPP Config --> Um --> Enter user/pass as "net" (Req Pw enc should be unchecked)
PPP Config --> AN --> Enter the EVDO credentials given by the MEID registrar (Req Pw enc should be unchecked)
Please note that I got it working merely by trial and error and some of the above changes may not be required and I am not even sure why they are necessary , but with the above configuration I am able to enable data without any problem.

Well, I had loaded the NVDump earlier, but as I had mentioned it would connect first but if you disconnect or get disconnected it wouldn't reconnect.
Check if the SPC is correct, cause I never got any error like that.

You are talking about Reliance CDMA right?
If yes you need to get the MEID registered, will cost you about Rs 500. Reliance store guys will not do it, have to get it done through some 3rd party provider.
It says Read only NV Items for me too

That's fine. Its only for one particular NVITEM. Just ignore it.

Without the correct EVDO credentials, you won't be able to get EVDO speeds. You need to check with your MEID registrar.
NV dump is not really required and the same can be configured manually if you have the credentials as I have described above. Since you are able to make and receive calls, it looks like the Akey is already set.
so that means if i dont get the credentials from the registrar EVDO can never be started on this handset??

You could check with some other person who does MEID registration, maybe they can retrieve the credentials. But without it, EVDO will not work.
i have an htc droid incredible and i am facing the same problem as mentioned above are the steps above same for my phone also

Simply by loading the Reliance PRL file, you should have voice signal, if not you are doing something wrong.

I don't think that would be a problem.
Make sure you are using the right PRL file.
No above steps required.
You must have flashed NV Dump already.
Your phone must be activated via *228 already.
Just perform below mentioned steps :
1) Put your phone in Diag Mode by dialing ##3424#
2) Get HTC Diag Mode driver if you don't have it already
3) Download DFS Demo version from DFS Website
4) Connect your phone with DFS, send SPC
5) Now, go to Programming tab -> Data ->
6) Click Read
7) At PPP tab, write "net" (without quotes) to SIP NAI, UID, Pwd field.
Restart the device and here you go, your device would get connected to internet instantly.
