Google Backup/Restore - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I just flashed RC3 for CM7.2. Usually when I flash new ROMs, all of my downloaded apps automatically download in Google Play Store, but this time they didn't.
Anyone know why? Is there a way to manually initiate this if auto doesn't work?

Have you considered using Titanium Backup instead? Free or paid, its waaaaaaaaaaaay more reliable than Google Restore.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. It depends on the ROM.

Should I buy Titanium Backup Pro or just use the free version?

I think the free one does a good job. I have not tried the paid one though so I have nothing to compare it to.

A little off topic, but related - how do you disable Google restore? Annoys the hell out of me when it starts downloading apps I already have backed up.

You do that when you are setting up the device after a clean flash. It will ask you if you want to use Google Backup and Restore. Just uncheck the box. I'm not sure if it can be turned off after this point.

I also want to know the, answer

It doesn't ask me, it just starts installing apps when I boot the phone. Only happens with some ROMs though.
Edit: Are you talking about the setup process? If there's an option there, I may have missed it.

On sense ROMs it won't do it, but AOSP it will.

I've been seeing that option on Sense ROMs as well.

I am on AOKP R37 and I don't recall it auto downloading. I do leave google backup and restore on.

Swiftkey X

So I downloaded this and love using it. However one issue has come up. Whenever I reboot I have to uninstall and reinstall Swiftkey X to be able to use it. It shows as an option but after a reboot will not allow usage.
Anyone else see this?

Happens to me as well, think that's just normal though... Wish it could be fixed though lol
It wasn't an issue on the original Dinc. Im using it right now on my first Dinc until my I2 comes in the mail today. I have a beta apk that I will test out too.
I am not having this problem

Have not experienced this with either the Beta nor the final version which I loaded yesterday thanks to Amazon's Free App of the Day ;-)
I haven't had the problem either... Maybe try a reflash of your rom?

Swiftkey X works fine for me but I'm not rooted (yet)...
For those not experiencing this problem what rom and kernel are you running?
I've tried reinstalling the rom and Swiftkey multiple times... Still does not keep Swiftkey as default and will not allow it to be used even when chosen in settings.

I'm currently rooted with CM7 beta and Swiftkey works perfectly. You might want to try to clear the cache/data for Swiftkey.
Try this. Uninstall it. Go to your file manager and delete the SwiftKey folder. Reboot your phone and reinstall.

Think I may have just found the problem. A few more times testing will be sure, but I think it was that SwiftKey installed to the SD card. I moved to phone and rebooted and it seems to have kept.
Didn't notice the auto install to external....

Interesting. I think I had that issue when I downloaded it the other day when I was running Gingersense. I'm running OMGB now, and haven't had the issue.

Are you rooted? If so I would do a titanium backup, then create a backup in CWM, wipe all your data and do a clean install, then using titanium backup re load your apps one by one until you find which is the problem application.

[Q] Why wont Google Play Store Restore my apps??

i was just wondering if anyone knows why google play store doesnt restore any of my apps after i do a clean wipe and and flash a new rom. it used to start re-downloading them immediately on the first boot up after i signed in on my G2X when using a CM based ROM. and does any know of a free and reliable way to batch restore apps???
I wonder this my self... But I use titanium backup it has its bugs sometimes but it works fine for me

Well I was hoping there was a free legal way to get it.... like taking a offer or a survey. Kinda like how akinator lite offer akinator pro to people who like their Facebook page or tell a certain amount of people about the app.... free doesn't always mean steal. Remember that

Did you leave the box checked that said sync with Google (OE something like that on the first boot)
And as far as tb goes give app to zip a try. Its a great app, and there is a free version that will do all you need. And the pro version is less than three dollars

I guess that it only working when an official ROM is installed. I tried more than 4 custom ROMs and all cannot get my apps back

Saving my apps to an sd card works for me. I also tend to modify roms via the android kitchen and while at it, place a few apps I need accessible prior to flashing (root explorer, etc).
Well, I've noticed that they don't restore all the time unless you use the same ROM. But even a stock rim misses the occasional app. Titanium Backup works great for me.

Remove your Google account, and just add it back for auto restore to work again.

Just a kick because if your apps don't start to auto restore and you want them to, simply go to Settings, Remove your Google account, and just add it back. Worked for me.

[Q] Does Tacoroot Method Erase Your Data?

Does the Tacoroot method described here erase all your data (apps, texts, call log, etc)? I've done some searching but haven't found a definitive answer.
Thanks!
Yes because it downgrades your ota version
Sent from viperINC2DIX
Copy that, just wanted to make sure. Was going to do it for a co-worker but they don't want to lose all their data. Can't have your cake and eat it too There's not really a sure way to tell if the Google automatic backup thing will restore apps and data when I get the phone working again is there? Just losing texts and call log is not a big deal.

As far as I know.
Not sure if go backup can do data, thought you had to have root for that. Contacts will be saved if they are synced with Google, if not there are apps for it, messages can be backed up, really all you're losing is app data. If you do want to try out a different root method that won't wipe your data, shoot me a PM and I'll hook you up tomorrow morning, it hasn't been tested yet.

If their data is worth 6 bucks, I am pretty sure titanium pro can backup data on unrooted phones now, but can only restore to rooted. You'd have to go look into it more for the details.

Factory reset question...

I've wiped multiple times in twrp 2.6.3.3 and done it three four times before flashing a ROM through Odin again. I even went as far as doing an advanced wipe and wiped everything including the system. Buy my problem I'm having is I'm a little confused as to why when I flash a ROM with Odin, I keep getting the same wallpaper I had with that firmware. I didn't even have that wallpaper before I started this from stock. Its the p600ztubnb1_p600zztbnb1_home.tar.md5 file. Its like my tablet just remembers what wallpaper I had with that firmware. Even though I wiped everything. I even took my SD card out before wiping. Any ideas? Or am I a worry wart?

Is the OP using Samsung backup/restore services? That one saves the wallpaper for sure, I have been teaching myself to the point of softbricking the device how to recover, to bring it back to the same state I like it etc. So yes, sometimes online services might be giving you options that drive you betty. You can call me Al.
