Hi I need to clarify some stuff with regard to this post on jj's hybrid rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26600928&postcount=1501
How do I flash this to my arc running jj hybrid 2.4b? via flashtool? will it wipe all my data?
sorry for being a noob here. new to this.
Thanks!
Just flash it via CWM recovery. No need to wipe anything.

Hey all,
I've been following the ICS thread in the dev forums pretty closely. I'm currently using the insertcoin rom. Will it be a case of wiping that rom and installing the ICS rom instead? Do I need to install the Cyanogen first?
Thanks

instructions are on there but whatever..
BACKUP YOUR ROM FIRST!!
If you're S-ON then don't worry about it this next step:
If you changed your hboot/SPL make sure you flash either bravo_stock from alpharev
Go to mounts & storage, format everything (apart from sd-card)
Go to advanced, wipe dalvic cache
Flash the ROM
Thanks dude. Though it would be the case, but i had to make sure.
If you're not an advanced user, I think it's not a good idea to flash an )ICS ROM yet.

Hello All,
I want to flash my stock rom with some good custom ROM like Acronium or XperiaMod or CM7.. Can anyone give me a stepwise solution of how can I do it? Also, can anyone tell me how do we change the default kernel? What should be done first? Flashing the custom ROM or changing the kernel? Please help.. Thanks.. Sorry I checked many posts here on xdadevlopers, but I dint get a clear idea of how to do it actually..

Using search you could have found all the stuff.
Steps on how to do it:
1. Check what the ROM needs (kernel, baseband).
2. Download the stuff you need and put the ROM files on the SD card.
2. If another baseband is needed, flash it with FlashTool
3. Now flash the needed custom kernel using fastboot
4. With most of the custom kernels you get recovery
5. Boot into recovery by pressing the back button during boot.
6. Wipe cache and dalvik cache
7. Flash the ROM via install cutom zip
8. Enjoy the ROM
Hello
I’m new to the android world and Next week I will get my Ace 2.
I read most of the threads about flashing but some things are not clear for me
These are the steps I want to do
1. Update to the latest German firmware over kies (I8160XXLK6_I8160DBTLK2_DBT) or Odin (PDA)
2. Install the I8160XXLI2 kernel with built-in CWM recovery from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32682067&postcount=644 over Odin (PDA)
3. Format all partitions (boot, system, data, cache, sdcard) with CWM for a clean system as stated in this Post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33200246&postcount=2 make a reboot and then flash the aeM_ROM_v1.2 for ODIN (PDA and CSC)
4. Install the I8160XXLI2 kernel with built-in CWM again over Odin (PDA)
My questions are:
1. Is it safe to format all partitions and after that I’m still able to flash after a reboot? Or should I only format system, data, cache and sdcard?
2. After format I’m right that CWM is gone and I have to reflash it with the I8160XXLI2 kernel with built-in CWM?
3. Do I get any problems because the original firmware is XXLK6 the CWM is XXLI2 and the aeM is again XXLK6?
4. Is the CSC file from the aeM_ROM_v1.2 ok for Germany?
Thanks for help

As far as I know, there shouldn't be any problem as long as you follow the flashing procedures...
Since you've mentioned your device is new, Flash it using the flash counts 0 (zero) technique (HERE)
as for my ACE 2, Im using XXLK6 ROM (got the stock rom from sammobile), flashed eX_Kernel v1, flashed Stock Lite aEm Rom 1.2..
all goes smooth and working..
Actually, I recommend this ROM/Kernel because I've tested it myself and been using it for 2days now sinced flashed..
Stable, Fast and smooth..
If you like to customize it more, try to install also the Statusbar customization..
You can find them all here at XDA ACE General and Development threads...
Note: Be sure to install the drivers and working (Install Samsung Kies if you dont have it) so you wont have problems in flashing and detecting hardwares plugged-in into your PC (like your ACE 2 device)...
Please feel free to ask questions between the threads/creator of the files you want to apply, they'll surely glad to help you and guide you through..
and Oh by the way, Welcome to XDA Enjoy and have fun customizing your ACE 2...
Hello
thank you for your answer. i think for the first time i will go with the I8160XXLI2 kernel with built-in CWM recovery because i dont need all the extras from the ex_kernel. maybe in the future
im a litte bit worried to format all partitions (boot, system, data, cache, sdcard) ist it safe? can i still flash after i format all?
im right that the kernel is in the boot partition? so after i format all i have to flash the CWM kernel again?
and thank you for your nice welcome :highfive:

As for ex_kernel, you can try the less extra-fied kernel with TWRP you know, since as far as I;m concerned, TWRP is easier to use.
Here's the link for the old version(but I have never experienced any issues with it):

It's safe to format data/cache and system. If and only if you know what you are doing.
hi there
before you tell me its in the wrong section i can't post in the development section yet, i'm a new member.
so basically, heres how it is: i have an xperia play r800i(unlocked UK version) which in october i flashed free xperia kernel onto and cyanogenmod 9.1. i have now decided that i want xdark 4.0.3 on it because the wifi stopped working on cyanogenmod and it has no support for touchpads. however, i dont know if it is as simple as just going into CWM and flashing the .zip from there.
can i do that? or do i need to flash something like doomkernel? and can i flash that the same way i flashed FXP?
i am quite a noob when it comes to this, so any help is appreciated.
it is rooted and the bootloader was unlocked the official way.
thanks
Back up everything with Titanium or something similar. Then place the XDark zip file onto the root of the SD card.
Then, with Flashtool:
1) Flash R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184897
2) Flash LuPus ICS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804003
Once that's done, boot the phone and enter recovery (pressing back when LuPuS flash screen appears and phone vibrates), clear the cache and dalvik cache partitions, then install the XDark ROM. When that's all done, reboot and all should be done.
XDark seems to be suspended for now though, might be better to go for something that's still currently being supported?
thank you for your swift response, i will be doing that later.
Do both a titanium back up and a nandroid just to be safe also do the normal whipes

Yes flash it via cwm, you only need wipe cache and dalvik cache, then flash the kernel
