Hey all,
I've been following the ICS thread in the dev forums pretty closely. I'm currently using the insertcoin rom. Will it be a case of wiping that rom and installing the ICS rom instead? Do I need to install the Cyanogen first?
Thanks

instructions are on there but whatever..
BACKUP YOUR ROM FIRST!!
If you're S-ON then don't worry about it this next step:
If you changed your hboot/SPL make sure you flash either bravo_stock from alpharev
Go to mounts & storage, format everything (apart from sd-card)
Go to advanced, wipe dalvic cache
Flash the ROM
Thanks dude. Though it would be the case, but i had to make sure.
If you're not an advanced user, I think it's not a good idea to flash an )ICS ROM yet.

i have HTC wildfire. using CyanogenMOD 7 for past 2 months. want to install Splash ROM now. i have some queries & want to be sure before doing anything.
1. do i need to remove CyanogenMOD completely before i install other ROM ?
2. if i unROOT my phone again will i be able to re-ROOT it ?
3. if i just flash another ROM from ClockworkMOD Recovery, will it be installed properly ?
please guide me.
Depends the rom you want to install, some roms require you wipe first, so check the rom installation requirement for any specific one you want to install.

Could not find or just can't be bothered to look? there are plenty of guides on xda and hundreds if not thousands if you search google for a guide on how to flash a Rom!!
Basically if your flashing a gb Rom over a sense Rom a full wipe is needed.
However if the 2 roms are from the same base i.e cm7 and a cm7 rip-off chances are you might get away without wiping anything, do a backup first if it doesn't work without wiping anything, just wipe cache and dalvik cache but leave data alone. If that still doesn't work try again with a full wipe.
As for the guide its pretty simple, backup wipe then install from zip.

ofcourse i do know how to flash a ROM !!
that's how i installed CM7 !!
thanks for answering my 1st query
i would give it a try now.
Q2. If you unroot it you can reroot it again afterwards but I don't see any point unrooting.
Q.3 is basically the same answer as Q.1.
Hey all, i hope this thread clears some doubts about this rom.
I downloaded the the rom and the LC8 radio. I have the necessary files in order to start flashing. I'm having a little trouble finding out the correct procedures to do this. Let me summarize my doubts.
1- Im coming from GB 2.3.6 Juggernaut Rom, if i follow the flash instructions exactly how the dev posted, if anything goes wrong, will i still be able to recover via nandroid?
2- i was reading throughout the post and in the download link for the rom, the dev says that the rom does a full wipe by default, does this mean that i can skip step 6 " flash darkside super wipe" or flash it anyways?
3 and most important... if im coming from GB to ICS, the flashing procedures remain the same? i dont want to brick my phone if im coming from GB based rom. thanks in advance
Thanks in advance. I must point out that i did read the dev's post and used the search feature.
Thank you people and as always thanks for helping

Here's your steps bud.
1. Backup apps with titanium.
2. Do a nandroid backup through recovery.
3. Download the newest ICS radio. (I believe there's a link in his post.)
4. Download TDJ's tool.
5. Download dark side evoulution rom.
5a. Place all downloaded files on root of SD card.
6. Boot into recovery.
7. Flash the super wipe tool.
8. Flash the radio.
9. Flash the rom.
10. Wipe cache.
11. Wipe dalvik.
12. Fix permissions.
Optional- wipe battery stats.
13. Reboot. 1st boot can take 10 minutes. Let sit till it reads SD card and USB storage as well as loads data.
Optional- I always power off imidiatley after first boot. Then reboot and set up phone.
Have fun let us know if you need more help.
Sent from my Galaxy to yours.
If you're going to give advice then make sure its the advice that the dev gives in his opening post. Flash the ICS radio, flash the ROM. TDJ has super wipe built in and it will wipe caches and fix permissions. If you still need to wipe dalvik TDJ has a cache wipe that also correctly fixes permissions.

thank you guys i will have fun doing this i will report if i need anything else
As for your question about being able to recover from your nandroid, yes. I always run TDJ's super swipe first, then perform the restore.

Hello guys!
As the title says, I keep on having boot loops after flashing any custom JB Roms (Jedi, LiquidSmooth, CM Nightly, Slimbean). I'm not new to flashing roms (I got LG units though, SU660 and KU5900). When I tried flashing ICS Roms, I don't have any problem. But I want JB that bad!
I followed KonstantinKeller's thread of restoring/recovering from a bad flash (going back to GB), rooted following Melvin's thread. Then did all the prerequisites..like the common wiping of data, clear cache & davlik. But then again after flashing JB roms listed above, I keep on having boot loops!
What did I do wrong? This ain't my first time flashing (first time on this phone -T989- though)
I read some posts with almost the same problem, but I don't think I found a solution for this. Any good soul that can extend their help is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
I got a bootloop before when trying to flash JB roms and what I did was restore to original state (using the bad flash recovery technique), and then not rooting it but installing cwm through Odin and dirty flashing the Rom in cwm. Once it flashed I used it for a few to make sure that everything was working correctly. Then I got the goo manager app and got twrp. After that I followed all the steps in the OP (Jedi jelly) and flashed the Rom. Now I'm running Jedi jelly 3.1 perfectly. Hope this method helps.

is there any way to reverse the loop that the darkside wipe is causing?
it REALLY sounds like the recovery u are using is TOO OLD. Make sure u are using the latest version of twrp (2.3.3) to flash all jellybean roms.
TWRP is backwards compatible and touch capable, so if you're worried about flashing GB or ICS ROMs it'll do the trick just fine
it is however a requirement for flashing all 4.1 ROMs.
Basic install instructions:
make sure u have root
download goo manager from play
open > menu > install open script recovery
agree to everything, but make sure t989 is in the downloaded image name
reboot to recovery u should see twrp
Can anyone please provide me the step by step tutorial to install Super Jelly Bean 2.0 created by Harsh586. I am a newbie here and my friend do the root, rom processes for me. It would be great if someone provide the step by step guide for installing this ROM and that's all what i am asking, sire.

That would suggest you've read things like the stickys, and given that there is more than one page in each section that you may just have come across some of the various guides that are floating about that describe how to flash ROMs via CWM (which are in the stickys to begin with), so when you then say...

So what on Earth have you been doing here for the last few days.
All i recommend is just reading up on it all first.
Otherwise if things go wrong you will have to ask more questions...and have no phone till you fix it.
Only start messing about with you phone when you at least know a bit about what youre doing.
Or you will just keep on getting sarcastic and pretty rude answers.
XperienceD...you clearly arent going to stop this problem with people posting without searching, so PLEASE give the f*** up with your pointless answers
Install adb drivers, java sdk platform and flashtool 0.6.8.0
1. Unlock boot loader with adb
2. Download fusion 5 and fusion add-ons, Rom and gapps
3. Copy fusion add-ons and Rom / gapps to sd card
4. Use flashtool -fastboot to install kernal
5. Reboot phone and press back button when phone vibrates on fusion logo this will take you into cwm
6. Follow from step 5 on how to install
From flashing kernel to Rom booted will take 10mins
If you get stuck use search or google, just remember you are not the first person to ask and there are LOADS of tutorials on how to do everything on here
One other thing super jelly bean are only one out off I think 4 or 5 roms which are based on jelly bean CM10 The most of the rest are ICS which use different kernels
Don't be afraid, sjb is a worth-messing-up rom. If you got bootloop you've got your friend afterall.

[Q] what‘s rom-aokp kernel for?and how to flash AOKP into my cell?online waiting
4.1.1 stock rom rooted
can anyone tell me who to get AOPK into my i747m
You need to use the search feature buddy.
If you can root your phone you can find a ROM.
And if you have no idea what a kernel or a ROM and which goes with what, I'd suggest staying away from flashing for now and look up tutorials and videos.

is the kernel a essential thing for AOKP? i have already downloaded the ROM. any possibility to get AOKP by using "zip from card" directly?

Every rom comes with a kernel built in.
You need a custom recovery for your phone (Clockwork Mod or TWRP)
In recovery factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, format system, flash rom, flash gapps (Google apps needed) wipe cache and dalvik again and reboot.
If any of this seems overwhelming read read read. Watch a YouTube video on installing a recovery for your phone. Or a video on flashing a rom.
Phones are bricked by not understating what they are doing and downloading the wrong files.

As long as you made a backup in twrp, you should be all set to go ahead and wipe and flash
Be sure to have the rom and gapps zips placed on your phone before starting.

When you wipe, you're essentially creating a clean slate for your new operating system to run on. Making a backup will allow you to restore your device in the event you run into any issues in the future. The backup will restore whatever rom you were running when you created the backup. For example, the backup you already made, when restored, will place touchwiz (stock) back on your phone. Once you flash a rom, if you were to make a backup again, it would backup your system with that particular rom. Then you would have 2 backups: 1 that has stock and 1 that has aokp or whatever it was you were running at the time of backup.
You can also copy and paste these backups onto your computer to have in case anything ever happens to your phone.
I would read up on all these processes and procedures a little more before you begin.
