hahahaha...just because the camera has the option to record to 1080p doesn't mean it actually records in 1080p buddy!
I'm not sure if you guys have been around long enough to remember this or not BUT when Sense 3.0/3.5 was first ported over it had an option to record in 1080p but it didn't record, it would FC.....the reason it shows that option is because the dev most likely used a camera.apk from a device that has the REAL ability to record in 1080p....hints the reason you THINK that it records in 1080p
If the EVO can record in 1080p, this will be new to me!
Lol I never even used it so I just assumed. Does make sense. I can count on one hand how many times I've recorded a video

haha lol so does 720p really work or thats fake to
No thats probably real since the evo CAN record in 720p (at least in sense 1.0 roms, not sure about ported roms)

is it possible by a setting or an app for the evo to record video other then 3gp?
Bump, I wanna know too
Very curious also. Cause it says its an mp4 under camera settings.

Yea, i would def like to know this as well...anyone?
*This was posted from my Evo 4G using Tapatalkpro! Great app, if you want to browse and post through many dfferent forums*
You can't do it with the stock recorder.
Not sure if there is another recorder out there that will record differently.
The highres encoding type is MPEG4, which saves videos as .3gp.
There is a lot of discussions about the old mpeg4 format and if they used a newer compression the video recording would be just as good as the iphone 4's 720p video recording.
search a little and you will find a lot of info on this topic!
lol......i did search and i found squat thats why i posted this. do you have any links? or is the answer just "no" or "no app as of yet".
the 720p video on the evo looks like crap. i have a 9 year old 3.2 megapix camera that takes better looking video
Hi All
Which Sense ROM do I need to install to be able to record good 720 HD video?
Is there a Kernel that will work to make Sprint (SprintLover) 3.7 ROM record without chopping up the video?
Video quality is far more important than the frame limit that 3.7 unlocked so if I need to go back a few versions I will.
Thanks
As far as I know they are all pretty much the same as far as video recording goes. Its an evo thing not a rom thing.
I am pretty sure video was a lot better (nearly skip free) a few update (versions) ago.
I use Warm Z 2.2 and 720p recording works just fine for me. Playback shows no choppiness.

did you use a different Kernel than the one built into warm2.2?
I installed warm 2.2 and really like it and so far it is ok with video but does freeze a little. I found running task killer helps video recording with less skips.
My wife is using Netrachy 4.3.4 with SL ROM and we had a horrible experience today where it only recorded 10 seconds of sound and video and then continued to do sound but not video. Really sucks.
seems that with sufficient internal memory video can record at 720
over 150 mb free

What speed is your SD Card? I've heard of reports that the choppiness goes away on microSD cards that are Class 4 and faster, while Class 2 cards seem to experience the choppiness.
There could be tons of different things causing your choppiness, this is just one that I had heard about, so if you have a class 4 or faster card then disregard the above.
i use warm z with netarchy toast 4.3.1 just recorded and played back about 30 sec of vid today first time but was flawless
Xperia PLAY have got 1Ghz CPU, and 5mpx Camera. This hardwares enough to the recorded of HD vido? Or not?
Is the solution of this possible?
(Sorry my bad Englis)
Should be!
One of Sony's recent updates gave you the 720p camera. if your on a custom rom i bet you can find the apk somewhere.
This was one of the early updates. Though it does not specifie it's recording in HD but really it records at 720P when the best quality is chosen in the options. However I personally think that the latest Cyanogenmod 7 video recording was remarkable. Best quality ever seen so far.

What? Really? It's pretty crap if you ask me. It records at 800x480 and the video usually has constant moments of extreme stutter.
What do you like about it? Is there any way to get 720p on CM7?

Are you sure? I've been using the latest CM7 FXP builds every time they're released and I've even tried some CM7 nightlies from the CyanogenMod site.
None of them, including FXP123, do 720p recording. Perhaps you're mistaken? Or have I missed something?
Yes I'm fairly certein. I vivdly remember I was shocked by the performance of the video camera. Flash the latets CM7 and start filming with the highest values in the settings. Then see the video on your computer. Even if he screen size is not 720x900 the video quality most definitly is HD
I'm going to buy One X(or One XL) when it released at South Korea.
So I'm searching its specs & informations.
I heard there is frame drop issue when taking 1080p video recording.
First, it took 19fps, and after a firmware update, it takes 23fps at the moment.
Then what about 720p video recording?
Does 720p recording support 30fps perfectly? Or It has same issue?
Are there any news to fix this software problem from HTC?
My 1080p Videos has 19,36 FPS and the 720p has 23,1 FPS.
I use my One X with ARHD 5.1.1 & Bricket-Kernel, still got no OTA to 1.29 so ive got old Radio!
But there are 2 Cam-Mods out there which push the Mbit/s and the Framerates, but aware this are BETA's!

thx to reply.
So 720p recording also has FPS issue huh?
Don't know why HTC doesn't release patch to fix it.
I heard ONE-S(snapdragon 4th model) doesn't have any FPS issue at all LOL.
It's so weird that ONE-X got video recording problem... This one is way better flagship model
First of all, hardware wise the H1X can do [email protected] You can download Camera ICS from Play Store and see for yourself. However, the stock camera capped fps to 24. Thats really sux.

You mean third party camera app can take 1080p recording smoothly, right?
However, stock camera app doesn't support 30fps. So it seems camera application has problem. Am I right?
But Camera ICS app doesn't support Burst shot I guess... hmm.
Neither taking photos while recording.
Anyway, I don't have H1X lol.
First of all, to clear the misconception, I have done A LOT of testing on the video recording capabilities of the HOX. Firstly, ALL camera apps that I have tried have DROPPED frames when recording.
Dropped frames are the sudden jitter and lag during recording. Generally video is recorded at 30fps, but throughout recording and playback, the frames get dropped very often.
Dropped frames and low FPS are NOT the same. Low FPS seems to be constant, during low light it drops to 17fps or so, but well lit areas 30fps MAX. Just go record a short 30 second clip and you will see what I mean. Every few frames you can see the video stutter and then FPS picks back up. Very bad, and very irritating. There doesn't seem to be a fix to it yet.

Thx for useful information
Is this fixed in update ?
Do all of HTC EVO 4g Semse 3.5 roms have 1080 p recording? Because I was watching a old rom video 1 year old http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0czolyBeC4&feature=g-all-c
He said that it's the only rom with 1080 p recording so i was wondering do all of the new sense 3.5 roms have it?
Thanks in advance
None of them have it. It's just the ported camera app that has it in there but the camera itself cannot record in 1080p
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Yea cant really record in 1080p. It can only record in 720p. Reason being because it's a hardware thing, not software.
