CM7 for the speed(?) and customizaton
CM9 for Android 4.0 speed and customization
I really like cm9 my brother has sgm he having 4.0.4 and i also want it for sgy it is so good in speed and i really like if someone is port it to sgy
I have a galaxy y and my mom has galaxy mini, so it doesnt really bother me if we get cm7 or cm9.. cuz i m goin to swap my mom's phone
Well CM7 would be much easier to port. And it's faster than CM9.

CM7 was the best ROM I used for my old phone (GT540)
Any other ROM couldn't match it for performance and customisation.
Anyway thats the only thing I don't like about this phone - no real CyanogenMods

I was wrexed up waiting for itt....n even I lost my craze n intrest on cyanogen mods while in a long journey of waiting...for dem.now no such big exiciting compared to my intial excitement on it.

The roms here are vry basic and they hav no gud features.. Once cm7 gets created, then you will experience lot of damn KICK-ASS roms

Probably not, these are new age modders who think just because they have a certain device it should come with all bells and whistles that take a good 6 months to develope. Did I mention they want it now!!!

Well, devs are staying behind because we are all starting to see how the game is going. Too many Android phones are coming out at once and money ain't coming any faster. I'm sure if people paid devs to come dev for the device, we'd have more devs...so if you want to pay for someone's E4GT, go right on ahead. If you don't want to, just wait it out. This phone is already pretty sweet and the problems we do have, a dev probably won't be able to fix those..so..yeah.
This phone is sick dude, just enjoy it and be happy that you don't own a device where you have to depend on the devs just to be able to get through the day.
Having it from release date, the OG Epic did NOT have terrible development. Just not the development some people wanted. And there were "some" people who were ungrateful and rude, like with any device. This one already has great developers, and we are slowly getting more. Be patient.

The Epic scene was pretty good. A lot of people came from that Evo...smh, the Evo messed the whole game up if ya ask me. Now people willl sit around and say their phone is garbage if it doesn't have the same dev scene that the Evo had.
Little do most people know that the Evo was damn near the same device as the Desire, N1 and Dinc. So most of the reason why its scene was so great was because a dev from any one of those phones could just port their roms over and all they had to do was swap out the hardware files and the kernel. Other than those 2 things, everything was damn near exactly the same.

what do we really need here? cyanogen and miui and stock roms. that is asking alot but that would be epic. for now i am loving starburst. love asop but don't remove touchwiz launcher and widgets. just my opinion.
I had the First Epic and the Dev's there were GREAT. We may not have had as many as some phones like the Evo but the ones we had did great work and who needs 100 roms to choose from when the ones we had did the trick. We had some great Roms and Themes and the fixes came pretty fast.
I have not rooted this phone yet mainly because I have not felt the need. The only thing I am missing is WiFi Tether. I am sure when this LOS gets worked out and the devs get their hands on the original source we will see much more. I am grateful for anyone that helps make this phone better, but it is pretty dang good out of the box. The best I have ever had.

OG epic scene was great.... kinda started slowing down with the whole froyo debacle, because it was pretty well known sammy was already working on ginger.... so evsryone was waiting for the final, correct source.... still are i think... i gotta check... gf has my epic and id love to see a finished gb...

evo had so much going on i miss flashing new roms,all i need is cyanogen 7 and miui and a good sense rom nothing else.i miss sense but love this phone,the launchers with sense themes have no souls to them.wish i new how to even start making or porting a rom myself sux been getting bored of touch wiz

sense is pretty hard to get working on a non HTC phone. I dont think I've ever heard of a sense rom (that fully worked right) ported over to a non htc phone(at least that I know of). It's not impossible(from what I hear) but it is very very very difficult(so I hear)

While we have better hardware all around and no ics leak or cm9 lol.
Samsung should support the flagship better . But i expect strange things from them as far as support. We wont get ics until gnec is released.

The hardware makes no difference. The Devs on the OG Epic have been working on CM for over a year. Just be patient and we will have a port.
The problem is that people have hounded the devs and they got frustrated.
I didn't read much about it, but im pretty sure its a port and probably wont get an official ICS update. It has nothing to do with Samsung and their top tier phones.

How the hell...is there another thread about the Epic geting CM9 alpha? You know, it could be because the Epic has been out for a while now, it also could be that the Epic shares strong hardware similarities to the Nexus S which has a fully working ICS. Or...maybe it's because after so many months without CM and MIUI, the Epic owners don't complain about getting updates like the Epic Touch owners. Just my theories...

Some of the more impatient persons here have sent the devs into the shadows while they secretly work on this beast of a phone. I'm not 100% sure but I don't believe team rouge is some how involved... I'm of course just going off of my own gut feeling

Hey guys. Theres is an Awesome ICS rom being worked on (not me). the party involved in its creation is one of my favorite here on xda. I can 100% promise you that it does exist and that this phone is not being forgotten. Just keep on keepin on and pretty soon you will all be complaining about how many ICS roms there are in the Dev section :] .
I'm on an OG Epic running CM9 right now. The Epic devs are getting so far now because we have source. As soon as the devs over here get proper source and time, the sky is the limit. A dev over there has been working hard on switching the file system over to MTD and got it running just a few weeks ago. That is really a time consuming process. Just have patience.

Would it be possible to port a sense rom on the galaxy s2? Even though I know everything is different.

if a port hasn't successfully been done yet I don't think It ever will. I had a vibrant before and the sense project they had going for that never made it out of alpha. Not saying it's entirely impossible but it is a lot of work porting an HTC rom to a samsung phone.
I too would love a sense ROM. Doesn't hurt to cross your fingers, throw salt over your shoulder AND hold your breath, right?

it would be possible, it's like the LG custom "theme" on macnut. The good thing is also that the Amaze 4G has the smae processor as the T989 which makes it easer to port a rom or the theme. Btw the Amaze 4G also has a ICS leak...

No just because two device has the same processors doesn't make it any easier to port. HTC sense like touchwiz will always be closed source. Rils drivers down to the changes in the kernel are very different. Is it possible yes, But it's a lot of work without any propertiarty stuff available. It's even worse then making your own ics rom from source. For a device that is not a nexus.

You can still dev for Gio if you are 100% sure it will boot

It will take some time when i have a new phone so when i leave defiently i will let u guys know en give my other running projects to someone else but when i leave is not sure maybe a couple of day weeks months i don't know but when i have still my gio i will keep on developing
Well, the gio is becoming an old device... even i will get a new device (Saturday) but unlike others it will not replace my gio because ril is not working anymore on the device I'm getting. So at least i will stay

My plan was to buy it but it was carrier locked to another carrier so he wanted to unlock it for me.
Now it can't be used as phone and i will get it for free.
He tried everything to solve it so no point trying to help me. Its an s-off, rooted, stock HTC sensation. At least i can game and develop on it. Wifi phone

Before I had a gio i hadn't any expirience with roms, bootanis etc.. But now I know soooo much more today i started using apktool for porting apps for sgsIII rom by OP. It is just soo nice, and I hope one day I can create a whole rom by myselve from source

Excited for my sensation, already downloaded the rom i want for it.
But damn that thing is hard to mod, so much reading compared to gio.
Also, i hate sense and there are only 3 or something senseless roms.
Lets see what i can make for the sensation, probably fake factory reset for qhd and with 4ext recovery

I should have it up soon just havent even rooted or flashed my phone for that matter touched it since June 27th but i will now since MIUI.com<<China has finially put something out but i will get this up hopefully in the next couple of days. Why is everyone tripping. Now i really love my SGS2 family. No one from our thread actually complained about my earlier release warning lol. I and we never got hassle. People actually was grateful to know that they have time to prepare for a rom. So they could have their backups in order. Thanks for letting us no this. Now I have to decide if I should stay on CM10 or go back to the MIUI I love. I'm really digging how smooth Jelly Bean is, and Google Now is awesome. But then, MIUI is where I feel most comfortable UI-wise. This will be a tough decision until MIUI moves to JB.

That's what I was thinking at first, but after using CM10, it manages to be a smoother experience for me. I especially like that the XDA Premium app no longer has problems. I also prefer the new notification bar over the TW bar.
None of this really matters in CM10 vs. MIUI, though. It'll be a tough choice.
