Custom Backpanel Paint/Skin - Galaxy S III Accessories

Is there any site that sells custom painted backpanels or skins that sticks on the backpanels? And by custom, i mean either premade ones (but good ones) or letting me choose the design myself by uploading a photo etc.
It would preferably be painted backpanels with good quality car paint grade paint. It should also be able to ship to Turkey.
I'm thinking of matte black panel with a green or blue android logo on it. It would look great on the pebble blue version.

For skins, Decalgirl are very good quality. I've had one on my Kindle for over 18 months, it's used for several hours every day and the skin still looks brand new with no peeling or anything . Well worth going for the matte/satin finish option. Just had a look for you and they do ship to Turkey They also have a reseller programme so might be able to order from somewhere closer to you. The snag is that they haven't got any for the S3 yet.
Edit: they have a "suggest a device" form

Thank you, they do look nice! There seems to be nice designs, but it'd be great if they let us customize the designs to our liking. Also, it's pretty much a given that they'll add the S3 to their collection, considering the popularity of the device.

You could try Plasti-dip spray. Its a rubber spray that is removable, if you want to restore the phone to stock. Not only will it make the phone more grippy, but will also protect it without increasing its thickness.
I think they ship worldwide, or have national websites in a number of countries. You can also get it on eBay. People even spray their cars with it for an instant and removable matt black look!

there is SkinIt
Zagg Personalized Skins
Unique Skins
I'm sure there are more, but I would go with the Zagg ones..
I have had SkinIt's before and there nice but provide no protection, at least with Zagg's you will have protection!

Just heard back from Decalgirl who said they would add the S3 to the list of devices to be discussed with their development team. So hopefully they might do them soon enough

Quite possible Though they need to purchase the device before they make skins for it, so...

Are the Zagg ones the same material they use on their normal skins, only printed with design? Because while they are really protective, i can't say i'm much of a fan of the feel.

Yo skills, with that one-handed cover reattachment.
But what is this elite matrixness?
are you talking about the live wallpaper? it's called 3d matrix, you can find it in the market for free
My captivate had this skin when I bought it. It covered all areas of the phone very well, but the white skin is ultra bright white. The vendor offers other colors & patterns if white isn't your thing

This site has basically the same skins, but many options with wall papers to match the skin. High gloss or matte finish, $2 more, option also. They even have a customization option.

Anybody use them? Like to know how the OP's skin holds up or these. I can't use my case with the Samsung car dock but these will solve that problem.
I don't care for cases either....or skins. meh I only need two years out of a phone..scratches don't bug me.

I ordered the FC Camo one for my phone and I got it today in the matte finish...I like it and the only thing that bothers me is that there is not side pieces included in the kit, so everything is covered except for the sides....the vinyl is thick and adheres well to the phone and it is easy to mold and strech/shrink so that you get the fit you want

18 months is enough for me, then I upgrade. However I still like to know that under the cover, the phone looks like new for when i want to show it off
without the back piece and front piece the skin looks a bit like something out of tron. just the bright hilight around the edge. if i could find some glow in the dark material and do the same thing like that.. well really it would just make me a total nerd but im ok with that. of coase some tron like themeing would have to go with that!
Got my carbon and finally isntalled it. Had all of the pieces and went smooth. Modded it where the 4 buttons are at so I could see and use them easier. Nice skins and works in my Samsung car dock with no issues.

Review of RearthUSA Ringke Rubber Case for the EVO 4G

Hi everyone,
I was asked by Blake from RearthUSA.com to evaluate their new rubber case for the Sprint EVO 4G. I have the white EVO really wanted to get a good case for my favorite little everything device.
There are things that I was looking for. From my past experiences with other types of case I had some requirements.
1. I hated the hard cases, because they were very difficult to get off. So hard that eventually the face plate of the hard case will break. You have to pry them off and that cause scratches and nicks and scars on the edges of the seams of the case.
2. The silicon cases fit and give great grip, but everything sticks to the surface. The material grabs the lint and crap in your pockets and out of the air. It is very hard to pull out of your pocket. This make it more annoying when the phone is ringing and you are trying to get it out in time. You have to force it out and grab tighter, this causes you to accidently push buttons on the screen or the hard buttons on the phone.
3. I did not want the case to add to much thickness to the phone. I love how thin it is. Can’t understand why people want a thin sexy phone, but then add on these thick cases that give huge protection.
4. I don’t want it to look cheap. Most generic rubber cases look so plain, cheap, and non-sexy. They are like a potato bad on a sexy runway model.
5. I am also very concerned about the back camera lens. I am still trying to figure out what was on the designers mind when they thought it was a good idea to push the lens farther than the body. To be exposed to damage.. being on the back.. which will always hit all surfaces when you put it down.
Now for the Ringke cases that Blake wanted me to evaluate. They sent me 2 case to evaluate.
http://rearthusa.com/products-page/ringke-gadget-cover/htc-evo-4g/
I asked for the Red Wine and the Aqua Black.
Colors:
The colors are a little miss leading.
In normal indoor lights the color is lighter than you would think the name suggests. In the sun, it is looks more like cherry red. It is fine for me.
The Agua Black is completely miss-leading (unless I got the wrong color). Based on the only 2 dark colors available: Slate Gray or Aqua Black, what I have can not be Slate Gray because it is darker on the website. I wanted a “black/dark” cover. From what others that have gotten the Slate Gray, they said it it was too gray. The Aqua Black is partially transparent and the color is Gray! On the back side, you can see the my white EVO cover; and can read the “Sprint 4G” logo right above the kick stand.
Fit:
The 2 cases are different . The Red fits perfectly. All ports and buttons are aligned. All the edges hug the phone just enough. The phone is snug. Red case “fit” is perfect.
The Gray is slightly too small. On the front screen, the sides; the tight fit causes the lip to LIFT off the glass screen and pulled outwards to the sides. This causes the sides to not have clean straight lines. Around the kickstand the opening does not hinder it function, but lines do not match up right. I even used the Aqua for a week so that it might have time to “work itself in”, but it never changed it’s fit or shape. This also means that the Red case will keep it’s great fit; and not loose it over time.
Finish:
All the sexy lines of the EVO are not lost by this case. It highlights all the sexy curves. The detail is very good. I like the extra line that follows the battery cover. The add opening for the “htc” logo is a good touch and give it a quality design image. The added texture of the skin is nice too and give a plush feel while providing better grip.
To my 5 requirements listed above:
1. Check: it is a rubber case and is easy to get on and off. Simple.
2. Check: it has a great feel. Not sticky or grabby. Goes in the pocket and slides out clean.
3. Check: it adds a minimum of extra thickness, but still provides a good add rubber protection.
4. Check: the design and attention to extra detail keeps my EVO sexy and slim.
5. Check: they added a little extra padding around the back lens for protection.
Price:
The price is $16.99 with free shipping. This may seem a little high.
We all know we can buy generic rubber or silicon cases for $5 plus $3 shipping all day online. But at that low price, I still say they are not even worth the $8. For a good quality case that you will want to use daily, $17 is a good deal.
Conclusion:
The quality is great. (don’t order the Aqua Black unless they remake the mold)
The price is good, because you can spend more in retail stores.
Ringke case is a must buy for anyone that has the same concerns and requirements as I do.
Suggestion for RearthUSA.com:
They should have a 2 pack deal for $19.99 with free shipping.
With each color selection, it will include a solid jet black case.
Thanks and I hope this review is able to help others.
Special thanks to Blake at RearthUSA for his help to get these awesome cases to me for review.
Sincerely
Dan330
great review....looks like a nice case
Great review. I have been contemplating buying one of these cases and one of my options was going to be the wine color or slate grey. Looking at it in your pictures it looks more red than I thought I would be. I have to agree that their colors are deceiving. I notice they sell a solid black for other phone but the Evo only gets dark grey. If they had a solid black I would have purchased already. The slate grey is just a dark grey. I want this case but the colors are keeping me back.
The price is also a concern and should be changed to two for 19.99 like you stated. That would be a great deal.
Let me know if your looking to sell these if your not looking to keep them.
Ordered two as well. Should get them soon and will have my review. I got the white and dark grey for my white evo. Sold my otterbox commuter so I can buy one.

I agree: they make good stuff, and customer service is top notch.

thanks dude.. after I was done writing it.. I was surprised it was so long. sorry
Alright time for my review of the rearth case:
My biggest issue was lint on my otterbox commuter, and the added weight and thickness.
I really liked the protection the commuter provided but it was a lint magnet. Was constantly wiping lint off as well as attaching the bottom flap.
I own a white evo and I didn't like the fact that the commuter completely hid that. I ordered the white cover to accentuate the white back.
I think it looks excellent. Also got a black one and you can see the white accents and it looks very good. All the cut outs are perfect.
Fit it very snug, the sides could be a little tighter but overall great fit.
Camera protection is perfect.
Most importantly for me it slides perfectly in and out of my pocket with no lint. I love it!
Came packaged very professionally.
Price is a little high but shipping is included, it is a local usa seller, and the build quality seems excellent. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.
Great job rearth on a great evo case!
mikfroyo evo!
mikfroyo... what color did you order? my Aqua Black was not like that! it was gray transparent.
update:
Blake from RearthUSA.. said that they are looking into my 2 pack deal... they liked it.. and are considering it. NO actual word to when or if they will.
Told him the same thing about 2 pack. I think it should be for the $16.99 though. I think that is aqua black. I like my white one best.

but still nice. of course that is a totally opinioned answer. I think my pics are very accurate to real world looks. so base it off that.
waiting....
he only said they are looking into it... it may or may not happen and maybe not soon.
and if your phone is walking around naked... hate for it to be damaged.. while you wait.
I bought this case before realizing that the reviews i've been reading about it have all been sponsored by Rearth... oh well. It was a good choice. I'm a case eilitist and silicone cases suck due to the "grippiness" of them.
TPU cases are pretty good but I found mine to be too thick.
The Seidio Innocase is really nice but their first round of production were too big, cases too expensive and even after they fixed production to make it fit better I still found the case to feel larger than the advertised "1mm' thickness. It made an allready wide phone super-wide.
This Ringke by Rearth is damn good. Best of both worlds imo. I've never felt a material like this before. I'm not stoked about the overlap on the front of the case--how it covers the borders around the screen--but I'm trying to look at it as a feature, that is, it keeps my screen protector's corners down and protected.
This thing is so thin, yet strong and smooth = no lint, no inverted pants pockets. It will, however, slide on a smooth surface so that may be a drawback for some. Off the phone it is as floppy as it looks in the video but reliably stiff once it's on the phone.
This message was not sponsored by Rearth
ALSO...
I emailed Rearth asking if they'll ever have a true black colored case, not grey, not transparent and they said they may have it as soon as one month from now.
Is it a tight fit case? I like tpu cases because of their tight fit no bulk.
Sent From My HTC Evo 4G On The Now Network From Sprint Using Tapatalk Pro!
yes.. it was sponsored.. but i was totally honest.. did not hold anything back.
yes.. it is a very tight fit.. the phone is hugged from all sides.

Yes. He said he sent his supplier (manufacturer) in Asia an email inquiring whether they would produce it in a (what I called) "true black."
He responded that they might and to check again and that he'd let me know at the end of the month. Haven't heard anything since, today's the last of the month and I understand these things take time.

If I'm getting a skin, I'd want it because it's thin. The "gel" skin would just be annoying to me, especially because it would get in the way of fitting cases over it.
I've used skins from gelaskins (gelaskins.com) in the past and I was extremely satisfied. They also offer customized skins but have a lot of designs available from various artists. I'm probably going to be getting a skin type cover and I'll probably be ordering from gelaskins since I've had great experiences with them on my past devices.
Btw. You seem to like final fantasy. A lot.

Indeed I do like Final Fantasy as it is my favorite RPG series of all time, and it has been since the original. So as my favorite series in the whole world, I like to represent. Ya know what I mean? It's really no different than people who obsess over their favorite sports teams. Lol.
And I hear ya about wanting a thin device. The other 2 choices I listed for my examples are thin, adding zero bulk. The gels skins will add some bulk yes because of the gel, but the point of a skin decal is to look good while protecting the device all at the same time. The skins make your devices smudge proof, scratch proof, and nearly damage proof for the average consumer, especially for the gel skins because they are a little thicker and will hold up better.
If you do get a skin, please put it up here for us. Would love to see what kind of design you will cook up for your Xoom.

I haven't put the front on yet, waiting for my screen protector to arrives 1st.
I will look like this picture, same material and pattern (with the screen area cut out). The seller has many designs, i like the dragon one because it's pretty understated.
These are just pics from the gelaskins website (better than anything I'd end up taking), but this is what I got for mine:
I usually have my leather portfolio case on, but it's nice to have a little protection if I ever have it out or if something might possibly scratch it while in the case.
I also got this for my atrix:
Edit: I was just browsing the gelaskins website and it would seem they changed their website set up. They have some art that they have pre-designed the layout for the devices and others allow you to use the artwork in their create your own process. When you select the device, they have some categories off to the side and it starts with the most popular... I just wanted to point out that they have more artwork because I'd hate for someone to miss a design they like more than what shows up in the most popular.

Hah! I like that for the Xoom you got there. Your Atrix is looking pretty sweet as well.

Custom battery covers?

Hey all,
Have there been any (other) custom battery covers for the Gnex? I've seen and read the following:
* the limited edition - Looks like LV, not really into that
* the one in MWC - smooth, blank, but custom crystal designs. I was actually interesting in finding a blank one... Never found any.
* White cover - from white Gnex. Don't think it will go well on the "titanium silver Gnex"
* 3rd party metal backs - problems with NFC and GPS. Was planning to get them until I heard these problems
Ideally, I want a black plastic one (without that texture at the back, just smooth)... matte or gloss would be fine. Does anything like this even exist or would you guys just recommend getting a decal? Is there an option to only get the back cover section? I don't plan to cover the whole phone.

Saw it once, but slipped my mind I like the texture, but was really looking for a more "plain" design. Think this one will come the closest to me wants so far though.
Looks like I might just need to get some decals, interesting find while browsing your suggested thread:

Ebay had a few knockoffs of the limited edition Google battery cover for a little while. If you want a black version, I would say keep your eye on ebay and just grab one of those knockoffs, then paint it with vinyl dye.
Neither Samsung nor any third parties have ever developed a plain battery cover for the Galaxy Nexus. You either get the stock textured battery cover, or one of the Google or Docomo limited covers. Personally I went through the extra work and expense to import a Docomo limited cover for my Galaxy Nexus. The texture feels great and I love the design, so for me it was well worth it.

Where did you manage to get the docomo limited cover from?
Do you have any links?

You think that would be better than plastic spray paint? I'm not trying to change the texture of the door, I just want a white door for my extended battery.

The only way to get them is to buy them through auction sites in Japan, but to even buy and have them shipped you need to be a Japanese resident. Since I'm not a resident, I signed up for an account with Shopping Mall Japan, where they act as a middleman to allow U.S. residents to purchase goods from Japanese auctions. It takes a few weeks to complete the whole process and can end up being pretty costly, but in all I paid about $40 (not counting the minimum deposit required by sites like Shopping Mall Japan, so $50 total).
For the auction, I went through Yahoo Japan. A helpful search phrase for the battery door would be something like "SC-04D プレミアムキャンペーン リアカバー". Hopefully you have a basic grasp of the Japanese language, otherwise you'll have to rely on Google Translate a lot to find what you're looking for.

Vinyl dye is better if you want just a single flat color and are planning on spending a lot of time handling the parts after spraying. There's no sanding or prep work required, and you only need one coat and it dries within minutes, so there is a very minimal change to the texture of the part compared to painting with several coats. High gloss parts will lose their sheen, but matte parts usually are about the same after spraying.
I would only recommend regular paints to someone who has a lot of experience with painting plastic parts, and if you're not a fan of just a plain, single color.

I just painted my extended battery door with plastic spray paint yesterday. It's still drying, but it looks fine. It's semi-gloss and not the same exact color, but oh well.
I have a white Verizon door coming in that I'll probably trim to fit.

Yes this would be great, especially if the color differences could be highlighted.
A while ago i sanded the original cover and painted it grey because i love the minimalistic look but without the texture at the back it looked cheap
Looks cool, that's pretty much I was looking for. Guess I can just find the cheapest cover on eBay and do this myself .
Can't really see in the pic, but did that turn out glossy or matte?
Sent from my aokp_tenderloin using XDA
I will try to take some more pics
if you polished it you will get a glossy and smooth finish, if you didn't it will be rough and almost matte
Look at the second pic you will get orange peel if you didn't polish it and it looks ugly and only visible from an angle
I will post some pics after polishing later
Awesome work
heres the google cover

Cruzerlite Skin Review (x-post from general accessories)

Full disclosure: The guys over at Cruzerlite helped out Carbon when no one had heard of use by donating a few free cases so we could run some giveaways on our social networks. We went to them because we liked their product and the way that they interacted with the Android community. They were so excited about their new skin product that they arranged to ship a MotoX and one of their skins to me so that I might review it and give them, and you, my honest feedback. The device and skins have been since sent back to them. I was not paid or otherwise compensated for this review. Mostly I just wanted to check out a new product, have an excuse to play with a Moto X, and play with the lightbox I built last week.
I hate cases. To me, they've always been a necessary evil. I generally go with the thinnest TPU case I can find so I know my phone will be protected, and try and find one that actually looks cool. Which is why I've always liked the Cruzerlite cases. Very android friendly, and there were always lots of looks to choose from - android themes, art, etc. My favorite was the Tardis case. I was always very careful with my device. But scratches and things happen, and like many of you I never plan to stay with one device for more than a year or so. That means you gotta keep it looking like new so you can sell it later.
To me, that's the niche that the Cruzerlite skins occupy. If you drop your phone all the time this product isn't going to keep you from denting it or smashing the glass. It's vinyl, not TPU. If you're a purist who insist on rocking a totally naked phone, this product also isn't for you. If you're one of the many who hate cases but want to protect the phone in some way, or are confident in your ability to not drop your phone but want a custom look, then this product is where it's at. It'll protect your device from light damage, give you any look you want, and preserve the size and feel of your device.
The product comes in the form of thick vinyl stickers. As it's a brand new product they don't yet have a set of instructions on the site. They tell me they have that in the works and we should see them soon. With that in mind, I'll overshare my installation process and what I learned for you folks. Cruzerlite clearly wanted to make sure that you'd be happy with the installation of this product, so they've given you a single sticker for the back, two sets of stickers for the sides, and three sets for the front. You can screw this up and try again without ordering a new set. Note that I say stickers, but this is actually vinyl of a nice thickness, not some elmo sticker you'd get from the doctor after a checkup.
So having checked out both the vinyl and the Moto X I setup my lightbox and got down to business. I applied the back vinyl, taking great care to align the camera and microphone. It worked, after a fashion - it looked like a sticker slapped on a phone. A phone with a lot of curves. So far... meh. I stuck the sides on as well. It looked... like a bunch of stickers slapped on a phone. They didn't conform to the curves of the phone at all. So I called up Joel at Cruzerlite and told him that while I thought he had a nice idea, this was probable something that would only work on a phone with simple surfaces like an iphone. I showed him how it looked and he asked me when I was planning to finish the installation. Finish the installation? What? Heat. You apply heat after installation. Ohhhhhh. For a guy who was just told that his half-installed product wasn't very good, he was pretty cool about it. Thanks Joel.
Ok, so with that in mind, I dug out the hair dryer and got to heating. It looked a lot better. With a bit of heat and some pressure with my fingers, the vinyl conformed to the curves of the device and started to look like they belonged there. That said, because I installed them like they were stickers, there were gaps. Teal gaps. It didn't look great - but that was on me.
You might want to color match better than I did. Teal and
wood grain aren't known for being a classic combination.
So the first install didn't look so great. The vinyl was curved to match the phone, but I had ugly gaps that ruined the look. When I put the sides on, I aligned things like I would with regular stickers - not heat shrinking vinyl. But Cruzerlite clearly anticipated that, so I had more! Off came the vinyl on the sides and and back to square one. This time, I made sure there was some overlap so that when heat was applied, it would properly fit. Here's what it looked like:
You can already tell it's going to come out better this time. Out comes the hair dryer!
Now we're talking. No gaps, all the buttons are nicely cut out... it looks great. Again, the color combination shows why I'm not ever going to be a graphic designer, but it certainly highlights just how well the product fits the device. There's a slight edge where the vinyl on the sides and the back overlap. It's not unpleasant, but I'd like to play with this product some more to see if I could even avoid that. I've asked Cruzerlite to send me a few more and another phone, and hope to have a follow up on this in the future.
Yes, it has front stickers. The great thing about this product is it's up to you what you apply - if you don't want the front stickers, don't put them on. You could even mix and match them if you wanted. Get different colors and make the phone version of this:
Yes, that's a real thing. It's a Harlequin Golf and comes
that way from the factory. Please don't do this to your phone.
So after installing and playing with this, I like it. The vinyl is thick enough to feel like a high quality and durable product and on the whole I found it to be easier to apply than a screen protector. Sure, it's a bit tricky to align, but you don't have to worry about dust and the use of heat makes this a relatively forgiving product. I'm certain that I didn't do a perfect job with this, but I don't hate it the way you'd hate a screen protector with a bit of dust under it. I did manage to tweak the back a bit when applying it, and you can see the bulge from it. Again, this is something that I'd be able to differently now that I know how the product works so I'm not particularly concerned about it.
Cruzerlite has a whole range of vinyl to choose from too - 57 at the time of this review. There's wood grain, antibacterial colors, metallic, and leather skins. We're spoiled for choice and if you can't find something you like you might want to ask yourself why you're so picky.
I'd say this is a buy. They look great, feel great, and will do a fantastic job of protecting your phone from light damage. They're easy to apply, and at just under ten dollars you can't beat the price. For those of you who picked up a Moto X before Motomaker was a thing, this is a great way to change your phone's look without buying a new one, or get the look of wood without paying an extra hundred bucks for a single woodgrain option. (bamboo? seriously?) At the time of this review, the skins are available for the Moto X, Nexus 5, Note 3, Galaxy S4, and iPhone 5/5s.
I'll update this thread in the future if I can get my hands on another device and more vinyl. If possible I'll try something other than wood grain, too.
You can check out the rest of their skins at http://www.cruzerlite.com/skins
Wow that looks like a great quality skin! How do you keep the termites from eating away at your phone? lol
The quality for the Moto X one may be good but the quality for the Nexus 5 one is pretty bad from my experience.
The cut outs for the nexus lettering are bad and uneven and to thin and different sizes and the back skin was longer in some corners from others. I was pretty disappointed..
I'm getting a replacement from them soon but I don't expect any different because I sent a picture of the back to CL but they said that the manufacturer said they didn't think it was defective but it "got stretched somehow" I know I didn't stretch it and it didn't look stretched to me cause others people with the skin from them had the same looking cuts just not as bad as mine. But I'll see how the new one I get is.

Have you noticed lint getting stuck on the edges, or the corners peeling especially on the thin side strips?
THanks
