There are two versions floating around, i have both. Unfortunately they are horrible. They are sprayed with a rubberized spray, and that rubberized layer starts to peel off in matter of days. also since its white and it has that matte finish it gets dirty very easily :x
Thanks for looking out tho!
Oh ok. Well thats good to know because I had been considering one. Thanks for saving me the hassle.
Now, I haven't tried it yet, but back when I was modding my PC, I used vinyl dye to paint drives, etc. Can't you just do that with the regular Barely-There case? Just pick up some glossy white vinyl dye and paint it. Unlike spray paint, it'll soak into the Barely-There and won't chip off. In fact, if you scrape it, it'll still show white. Just a thought.
I'm going to have to look into this. Recommend any dye brands?
Sent from my EVO using XDA App
VHT makes vinyl dye, along with Plastikote, SEM and Colorbond. It's been a while since I painted my drives, so I don't recall which I bought since I don't have the can anymore. Surprisingly, you can get it at your local wally world or auto part store. Just do a little reading online to see which one may be better for you. If you're trying to get a glossy finish (they do sell glossy white, but it may not be as glossy as you're looking for), after it's dry, apply a glossy clear coat of the dye also. YMMV.
So I browsing at work today and surprised to find OEM TPU cases in stock at daydeal... ordered at work and hope for an early arrival.
will do a photo review when it arrives.
I got it in the mail today, and as promised, picture review.
I ordered the white one, 70H00391-01M, seeing that all the other colors are a bit too "colorful" (DayDeal or HTC America Accessories Store). It came in a plastic clamshell, and now onto the actual product.
Texture: Glossy Smooth... clean edges/seams... way better than some of the eBay TPU...
Fit: Tight fit, very EXACT. not going to slide around inside, not going to pop out.
Color: It's white, almost too white. Will be getting a black/smoked/clear if I see one.
I actually think this is one of the best manufactured TPU case I have seen so far. Clean seams and edges, exact dimensions. Plus, with the case, it is now A LOT easier to find that power button.
PRO: Makes the phone feels way more solid, amazing fit and finish, cutout placements actually make the buttons easier to find.
CON: White doesn't really match with this phone, no alternative color fit for professional usage. Will be getting black/clear/smoked if found.

Thanks for reading!!
holy shiz thats nice.
Awesome, will probably getting the black one.
I want a blue one

as I said before, I would be super interested if I find one with better color. One day, I was on HTC UK and saw that they have a smoked color one for IncS. Upon checking the P/N, it turns out that IncS and Inc2 cases share the same number, except for the suffix, which is usually designated for different colors. I decided to jump the gun and ordered one from expandsys. will post review when it arrives.
UPDATE on the white case: it was ruined after being in my jeans for a couple of times... the dye on my jeans killed it!!! never getting another white thing that would seem susceptible to dark colors
The white case makes it look like the perfect smartphone for a storm trooper.
Your pictures inspired me to grab the white OEM case. All of your notes are valid. It is truly a perfect fit, feels great in the hand (not too grippy, not too slick), and is VERY white. I do notice your jean dye comment, however since I rarely wear jeans this will not be a problem for me.
I also ordered the Incipio Feather case in Black. Overall impression is good. It fits great and matches the black on the Inc2 perfectly. It also comes with a screen protector included (which goes on perfectly if the screen is dustfree). The only reason I'm not recommending it is because not only does it not protect the top or bottom, it also does not do anything to protect the front surface. No lip at all.
And finally my first case for the Inc2 was the Seidio Surface case. It is a solid case and will serve many people very well, however I found it slightly too bulky. It made the power buttom sufficiently harder to press (HTC TPU case is more rounded near the power, allowing easier access).
So in the end I decided to keep the HTC TPU case with the Incipio Screen Protector. It provides full protection of the phone and will hopefully serve me well for the next year or so.
Here's some pics for the curious, which bear remarkable resemblance to OPs pics. ^^

How easy is this case to clean off? I really love the way it looks but I don't want to be ruined the first time I wear a pair of jeans.

Ahh.... sorry about that... been busy with work. I promise to post new pictures tonight. My apologies.
UPDATED: Sorry it took so long... busy with life and work, working towards a promotion at the moment
I just placed an order today for the HTC OEM Hard Shell for Inc S/2.... will update when it comes in 1 week later
Thanks for the pictures and no worries about the delay. We all understand how life is.
In trying to figure out what accessories to grab. How do you like the smokeone? Looks pretty good. Looks like it blends pretty good.
I like tthe white one but I frequently wear dark denim bluejeans .. so probably not the best idea lol.

Also if you can get a chance to post the link to the smoke case. That would be appreciated. Thanks.

So here's my take on the smoked version:
It's the exact same sizing as the white one, it is good as ever when it comes to fitment. As far as the color goes, the smoked IMO is the best it could offer without looking too stuck out. Black would be too solid if slapped onto the phone, looking like a huge piece of black plastic. I think this smoked option is the best so far if TPU is what you are looking for.
As for myself, I am not too sure on TPU since I feel like it took away some of the phone's sexiness. Hence I am ordering the new hard shell to review next, **without knowing what exactly I am order, no pictures of the product were provided** should come in next week hopefully.

Hi,
I just got my SGS2 and wanted to order a case for its protection so I took a look around and found this from Astrobile. ( Google it, forum doesn't let me to post url ) It's pretty awesome on paper, cause i didn't get it yet, but I looking forward it is indeed cool.
They have a 1 plus 1 event now, so you can get 2 for a price of one. They also include 2 screen protector with it. It's Made in Korea.
Why is it Hybrid? Its made of plastic, but at the back of it there is a metal plate which "make your device looks slimmer". Imo it could also helps keep your device cooler. My SGS2 is getting real hot when playing constantly for an hour or more.
Im already excited about it, can't wait to get it! I will update when i get them, they said it will take about 10 days.
And the best of all, there is free shipping to worldwide. Of course you can take a Express Shipping, but that's not for free...
Arrived!
Hello!
As i promised, i will write a mini-review according to my first few impressions about the case when i get it, so here you are!
First things first, it has arrived fairly quick according to it was a free shipping. +1!
It has came in a pink plastic bag, nothing special. The package of the case itself is nice, suggests quality, +0.5!
The first problem face me when i actually opened the box and got the black case in my hands. I noticed it is kinda thick,-0.5, and has some shimmering material mixed in the black TPU, -1!!!. This is weird, but must be the Korean taste for beauty...OK.
The next thing I didn't like about thie case was it thickness, ok I already mentioned it, BUT the holes for the buttons are also that deep that they're hardly accessible. They could have made some "case-buttons" or I don't know the expression for that. -1!!! Maybe something like on this one.
The metal backplate also has some color transition from black to silver (mostly silver for a "black" backplate), and I don't like it. I have to give a -0.5.
Alright, enough of the CONs, let's see some more PROs. This case is not that bad at all. Its Sturdy enough, but still flexible so I can believe my phone is protected from small height drops (if not landed on the screen - tho the case has some edge which laps over the phone, so if you turn it face down, your screen won't be scratched, also the screen protector is there.) So this worth a +1! The touch of the material is good, less slippy then the phone naked, but still not as good as it could be. (Maybe my hands are just to small for such a huge screen and while im tryin to reach the other end of the screen with my goofy fingers it just wants to slip off of my hand. - So I won't give penalty on this.
The matte screen protector included is absolutely superb quality! It has a really nice touch, a colors doesn't distorted and it's free of any oil, fingerprints, +1. Tho I have to mention that on the website they were talking about 2 screen protectors will be included, this is a -0.5...
And of course don't forget about the extra case included with every purchase of this model from the color of your choice (even the same your ordered originally). They have black and white with various backplates.
I won't give penalty points on this, cause this was a gift
So, the thing is it is kinda the same as the black, since it also has that crappy shimmering thing mixed into the material, but it is less visible than on the black one. Backplate is the same aswell, weird color transition...But again, it was gift. So it is OK
The Verdict:
Summa Summarum, the case has finished with a +1 in its stash. My impressions is just confused as this rating.
I like it a bit, but I don't think I will stick with it too long. For a first case it's just perfect, since my main goal is just to protect the phone, and it does the job well. Tiny imperfections like the deep button hole is a thing i could get used to by time, not really a big issue.
Next time I will definitely go for a bumper-style case which preserves my phone's slick for factor, which I love.
Here you can see some high-res pics of the cases.
Hope you found my very first review helpful! Please press the "Thanks" button! Cheers I'm off...
P.S: This is my 10th post, let's celebrate
The phone + case look rather thick on the photo's. Is the mic on the upper side not covered? There is no picture of that.

Hey!
Thanks for the input! Yeah, sorry I forgot to mention that, actually I didn't even knew that is a mic also!
Returning to the topic, yeah the case also has a cut for the second mic too!
Can you please tell me what is it for?
the second mic
the second mic is use for the noise cancellation feature.
if you want a cheap and cheerfull hybrid case then look for a fake sgp neo hybrid case
if you want a more exspensive hybrid case look for genuine neo hybrid sgp cases
a fake one will cost up to £12 and usually start at about £6
real sgp cases will cost you £18-£22 and no less
iam using a fake neo hybrid at the minute as i broke my genuine one and its a pretty good case for the money , it fits standard battery and 2000mah battery , its lasted a good few months and has kept the phone pristine , it covers the phone well even with the 2000mah battery
they are the best hybrid case ive found and add minimal bulk to the phone , look good , fit nice , protects the phone from drops and if you buy a fake one you can get them for pretty good prices
That 'shimmering' effect looks nasty. It's good that you get a second case though.
i think there are better cases out there and at cheap prices, but in the bright side it does look nice.
Okay, let’s get this out of the way first. These are minimalist cases! They’re meant for people who would prefer going bare back, because the best is nothing at all. Scuffs, scratches, and the last time you looked, things that just shouldn’t be there, no protection can be too risky. Even though that’s what you want.
A hardcase gives you the absolute minimum coverage, so it can be as close to nothing as possible.
They won’t protect well against drops with any substantial height, drunk stumbling Friday nights, Nexus Frisbee, or if your name happens to be Freddy Fumblefingers. Please buy something softer, thicker, rubberier, or with multiple layers, because sir or madam, these cases will not be able to keep up with you.
They will protect well against scrapes, dirty tables, fake bumping into people to say “hello”, or if your better half has long sharp nails and you need a protective shield.
Currently I am using my white Ringke Slim as a baseline for comparison. It’s a great minimalist case. Fits snug and solid, and was exactly what I was looking for. I looked at eBay and saw a bunch of cases for $0.99. I figured, I’ve spent more money on dumber things, let’s take a shot and see how these compare.
I ended up buying 5 cases in 3 different styles. I limited myself to the top end only, the crème de la crème, the $0.99 category. Yes I know, big spender. Each of these cases also included free shipping. I don’t know how, but each one, all in, is literally just under a buck.
*EDIT: Some of you may be worried because you scratched the corners of your Nexus 5/heard people have scratched the corners of their Nexus 5 with hardcases (Ringke Slim, Spigen Ultra Fit, etc.) If you think you might have problems scratching your Nexus 5 taking a hardcase off, watch these video tutorials I've made. And stop worrying!

Card Trick:
Properly bending the case over corners (1 at a time): Use the camera cutout with your index finger as the pivot point/fulcrum to make it easier to bend the case out and over the corner.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Hard-Plastic-Back-Cover-Case-Skin-For-NEW-LG-Google-Nexus-5-4-E960-Candy-Color-/251377476993?pt=US_Cell_Phone_Screen_Protectors&var=&hash=item3a8743e581
First up was the candy color hardcase, in dark blue. “You’re my boy Blue!” (UPDATE: Not Recommended. Case design is not consistent, see below)
The pictures just don’t do justice to how deep of a blue this is. It’s fantastic. Build quality wise, other than the spot where you can clearly see they took it off the mold, it’s not bad. The button cut outs are correct. The headphone and micro USB cut outs are also good. The camera cutout is acceptable and there is enough space to make sure nothing is blocked, but it isn’t quite centered.
It’s a smooth plastic so it may be slippery depending on your hands. If they’re moist, no problem, but if you have dry hands, have a decent grip. Like the back of the black Nexus 5, this finish is a bit of a fingerprint magnet.
There are no sharp edges, and the plastic is a little softer and more malleable than the Ringke Slim (it’s thinner plastic). While the case fits snugly with no risk of coming off, the softer material makes it easier to bend to put on/take off the phone. Though there is less corner coverage than the Ringke Slim. The lip over the front is also miniscule, so while you could place it face down and not have the screen touch the table, you probably wouldn’t want to take the chance.
Overall, this case has an amazing shade of blue. But other than that, it’s definitely just an average case, along the “get what you pay for line.” Okay deal for a buck but don’t expect much more. If you want a case with colors that are really intense and pop, this one will suit you well. I’ll use it on occasions when I feel like there’s just not enough color around.

Znamir81 ordered the same blue Candy color case as above and got something completely different. Maybe the seller sent him the wrong case, but either way, should probably skip the Candy Color cases. The power button cutout is different, it is larger and includes the simtray/eject. See this post for full details.

Next up are a pair of semi-transparent frosted hardcases. I got these in blue and black. They each came with a screen protector (I don’t use screen protectors so can’t comment) which was a nice gesture for a buck. They also included little keychain nub touchscreen pens. You can tell they’re cheap and hollow, but when you’re in a pinch, or maybe if you don’t want to take off your mitts in the cold, they might come in handy. I tested them and they work quite well.
Both cases were made well, no complaints. No sharp edges, no remnants of the mold where it was detached either. The material is again smooth plastic, but with a neat absorbent coating or something. My hands were semi wet/warm and I was leaving fingerprints and smudge marks all over the place. But looking at the case, the fingerprints would just dry up and disappear. It was neat, don’t know how long it will last but it was nice how I didn’t have to wipe it, it just went away on its own. Definitely not fingerprint magnets.
The cases fit snugly, and the lip is enough that if you would like to put it face down you could. Corner coverage again is minimal, and less than the Ringke Slim, a little bit more than my boy Blue up there.
The colors, while I quite like them, don’t meld too well with the black Nexus 5. The nice bright blue, turned into a dirty teal color, and the black just looked smoke gray. I think these cases would look fantastic on the white Nexus 5 (especially during the summer months). I do like that you can see the Nexus branding through the case though.
You can also see dark spots around the edges, those are where the case has more pressure against the phone than on other areas. It’s more prominent on the black Nexus 5, but I’m sure it would be minimalized or not show at all with the white.
I quite like these cases, but due to the color of the phone, I’ll probably only use them at the gym for wear and tear. The black phone really dulls the colors, but otherwise I highly recommend them (for white Nexus 5 owners) as the build quality, finish, and finger print magic are quite good. The screen protector, and touchscreen nubs are a good bonus. Fantastic deal for $0.99.

Last is a pair of quicksand cases. There are some bigger brands that people have mentioned here that do this style, such as Bear Motion and Poetic. So let’s see how a generic version at a fraction of the price compares. These cases also came with screen protectors and touchscreen nub keychains as a bonus.
I ordered Black and Orange. At first I was going to order the Bear Motion case, but when they didn’t have black, the $0.99 club came calling.
Firstly the colors, the black is fantastic, just a slightly off black, gritty, scattered color. The “orange” on the other hand, yeah… Not quite the citrus fruit I was looking for. It’s more of a watermelon pink orange. I don’t have a problem with that; I love watermelons and their mushy, juicy, deliciousness. But for a phone, wrong fruit for me. I’ll probably give it away, or save it for a bright summer day.
Build quality is excellent! The material is durable and malleable. I love the texture of it. It’s grippy without being tacky/sticky, and it feels like something you just want to hold. I actually don’t miss the phone being naked when the quicksand is on it. I would love a phone manufacturer to make a phone with a quicksand style back!
Fit and finish are perfect. All of the cutouts line up correctly, everything is centered and it is snugly fit. There is a good amount of lip on the front to place it face down if you like and there is more corner coverage than either of the previous 2 styles. The coverage on the top corners is equivalent to the Ringke Slim, while the bottom is slightly less but still comparable.
Honestly, this is the best $0.99 I’ve ever spent, and it’s replacing my Ringke Slim as my primary case. I’ve ordered all of the remaining colors for random days when I’m in the mood for a ridiculous bright green or sky blue. Gray will be nice too.
Overall, this is the minimalist case deal of deals for me. $0.99 gets a fantastically built case, perfectly lined camera and button cutouts, screen protector (don’t know quality), and touchscreen nub.

The only down side to any of the cases I’ve listed, is of course the delivery time. A buck doesn’t get you next day air, it’s in the ballpark of 3 – 4 weeks. If that’s no problem, and you’re a fan of minimalism, consider skipping the big names, and join the $0.99 club!
Few more black quicksand case pics from today. Just because I still can't get over how this can only be $0.99!

Feb 21, 2014 "B-Type" Quicksand Cases:
Mini Review:
NOTE: For these ones, just do an ebay search for “Nexus 5 Quicksand” and you will see them.
This is the seller I used. I suggest doing your own ebay search to see if there are sellers offering the cases with a lower price. At this current moment, the seller I used is at $2.05 and I saw some for around $1.98.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thin-Quicksand-Frosted-Hard-Case-Cover-Skin-For-Google-Nexus-LG-5-/171189921854?pt=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item27dbb6e83e
Okay, here are the “B-Type” Quicksand cases. These ones differ from the ones I reviewed in the OP in a couple of ways. The camera cutout is slightly different. It has an upside down tear drop versus a light bulb style cutout. All of the remaining cutouts, power, volume rocker, headphone jack, and USB port are all accurate and centred. The camera and flash also line up nicely in the middle of the tear drop.
The more noticeable difference you will see between these ones and the original Quicksand cases (other than the camera cutout) are the Quicksand finish itself, and finer “neatness” details. This case is a little bit more “rough around the edges,” not in a sense of actually being “rough” to the touch, but more along the lines of not being completely neat and tidy. For example there are a couple spots on the bottom and top where there are a couple of extra bits from the moulding process remaining. They aren’t sharp or really all that noticeable unless you are actively looking/focusing on finding them, but they are there.
The other is the finish. This Quicksand finish is ever so slightly different. The finish is a little less “quicksandy” (yeah yeah not a real word) and a little more “plasticy”/rubbery with texture. It still has a quicksand finish, and you can tell it’s there, but it is not as prominent. It still feels nice in the hand, grips well, and won’t slide around. It’s seems like a quicksand “lite” I guess. One thing I did notice was that this finish seems incredibly durable, like it is meant to take a beating. To me it seems as if they took a quicksand case, and gave it one more protective coating dip or something. It lost a bit of the quicksand, but gained a bit of toughness. Not an entirely bad tradeoff. I have no problems with the durability of the normal Quicksand cases, but it can’t hurt to have a little extra shielding.
So, ultimately it’s not quite as clean and “finished” as the original Quicksand cases, but it’s still pretty good in my book. Also, since the original Quicksand cases are no longer $0.99, going up to $2.99+ now, these ones are still an okay buy at around $2.00 shipped. Also, you get more colour choices, so that’s a bonus. If you can find the original Quicksand cases in the colour of your choosing, I still recommend them first. But if you can’t find the colour you want, these ones aren’t a bad backup and are still pretty good cases. You’ll never beat the original $0.99 Quicksand cases, but I still like these too. And as you’ll see, the red is a nice deep red too!

I really like the shade of red this case came in. I've been wanting a red case for a while, but the original Quicksands didn't come in it. Only that watermelon pink-orange colour... This shade is quite nice. It isn't overly bright (like an orange-red) or very dark (like a blood red), but a nice deep saturated red. They did well with this shade.
White "B-Type" Quicksand Case:
The white is white. By that I mean not "off white" or "eggshell" but white. It gives a good Stormtrooper look. I think with the slightly different coating this has, that I don't believe it will stain as easily. The lighter colours of the original Quicksand cases (like my lime green case) tended to pick up stains a little bit easily, but this slightly different coating seems like it will hold up a bit better against that (we'll see of course). So stick with the darker colours for the original Quicksand cases, but if you want to venture into lighter colours, these ones might be the better option.
Watermelon Pink-Orange Original Quicksand vs. Red "B-Type" Quicksand:
Here's a comparison between the original and B-Type Quicksand cases. You can see the different camera cutout as well as clear difference in colour. Whoever marketed that watermelon pink-orange case as "Red" should be smacked in the back of the head. Whoever said it would be good to call that case "Orange" as well, should also be smacked in the back of the head. It's clearly a Watermelon Pink-Orange....
But you can see what a real red actually looks like. The pictures don't show the finer details, but there are a couple imperfections on the top and bottom of the red case (and white) that I was mentioning earlier. You might be able to see them in the pictures of the white case + phone.
Wrap Up:
So I'm not disappointed with these cases. Sure, they're not as good as the original cases, but they're not far off. They also do gain a bit more of a durable finish, even if it does lose some of the Quicksand goodness. If the original Quicksand cases are the base line of 100%, I'd put these ones at 80% - 90%. Still pretty good, not perfect, but you won't be disappointed if you buy it. Also, with the additional colour choices, and lower price (now that the originals are no longer $0.99) I'd say they're still a good buy.

Which one?
I haven't had any issues with scratches with any of them. My phone is still perfect. I also tend to baby my electronics though, and am very careful when putting on/taking them off. I also did swap around all of these cases a bunch of times as well as the Ringke Slim and still have no scratch issues.
In general all of these cases had more flex and were a softer hard plastic (bit of an oxymoron but you get the idea) in comparison to the Ringke Slim which is excessively rigid. I also didn't have any scratch problems with the Ringke Slim though, as some others have mentioned they did.
In any case, these cases are all easier to bend outward and are very smooth. There are no sharp edges on any of them. There's always a risk especially with how soft the side plastic is on the black Nexus 5, but I think if you're very careful you won't have a problem.

All of the links I provided were from the exact seller I used. They all still say $0.99 (USD)
I'm not sure how you're getting $1.68.
Those are links to the Canadian eBay.
*edit: sorry, I did see the $1.68...
I guess on the candy color cases they raised the prices. It was $0.99 when I ordered in November. It still says that price as well until you choose a case. Sorry.
The other ones are still $0.99.

No problem, glad I could help.
Let me know what you think when you eventually get them. I'm sure they ship them by sail boat on calm days.
I definitely agree on your 4 quicksand choices! I think it's just such a good deal.
I bought the blue case for exactly the same reason. The color is just intense. It does suck that they raised the price though. But $1.68 is still dirt cheap in comparison to most cases.
i was about to make a new thread and say i got a hard case for 3$ locally (toronto) and a bumper case that im in love with.
anyways the hard case like you mentioned was shockingly good, no sharp edges, no left over molds, its nice and smooth
and best part of all its not super hard plastic, you can bend it and its semi flexible sort of .
its the black version of the (solid) blue one you got.
the bumper is also shockingly good for 5$ and its the one im currently using
the only question i have is, doesnt the quicksand kind of feel rough on the phone ? since the inside of the case is also the same rough material ? logic tells me that putting it on and taking it will scratch the phone since the case kind of acts like sand paper ? sorry for my ignorance !!
I've got same one, Unfortunately it came with chipped of corner but function is still good also seller send me a replacement one so all is well :victory:

Nice, $3 is still pretty good, especially without the wait time. And $5 for a bumper is good too.
After seeing that these $0.99 cases that I figured would be just cheap pieces of garbage were comparable or better (the quicksand for me) than cases 10 - 20x their price; I don't think I'm going to bother with a bigger brand name anymore on any future phone.
The 3 - 4 week wait is worth it when I can buy a variety of different styles of cases and swap them around for the price of 1 Spigen or Ringke. I still think my Ringke Slim is a great case, but I've been spoiled by $0.99 haha.
As for the quicksand texture, don't think of it as a coarse scratching material. Think of it along the lines of 1000 grit smooth sandpaper, but not sand, instead a textured/coated plastic. It's difficult to describe really, but it's not a material that will scrape the phone up. It just adds a nice grip.

There are other sellers that sell the same stuff, you don't have to use the one I did.

This one has all of the candy colors and ships to the UK.

These are the semi-transparent cases, ships to the UK.
If you do a http://www.ebay.co.uk search and just look up "Nexus 5 hard case" you should find the same cases that ship to you. They're all coming from the same factories anyway, I'm sure they wouldn't exclude the UK. It's probably just because the links I posted were for the Canadian site.
Thought I'd go for a white semi-transparent case, worth a go for 99p!

Well I reviewed the cases in the OP, so I guess I might have the 2nd and/or 3rd one! :good:
In terms of tightness, they're snug, and there's no risk of them falling off. They don't wiggle in the case or anything. They fit the same as the Ringke Slim. All of the cases I mentioned though (including the 2nd/3rd you were referring) are easier to put on and take off than the Ringke Slim I have that I was comparing them to.
This is because the type of polycarbonate these cases are using is not as rigid and stiff as the Ringke Slim (or Spigen Ultra Fit). They have a little bit more of a flex and give to them. When you are installing or removing the phone you can bend the sides out further, minimizing the rub against the corners of the phone. The Ringke Slim (and Spigen Ultra Fit) are very stiff cases, so some people were scraping the corners as they tried to pull the phone out because they didn't or couldn't bend the case out enough. The corners on the cases listed in the OP are also rounded and tapered more, and there are no sharp edges.
So rounded corners plus a little more flexible polycarbonate, and if you take care when putting it on (ie: don't just snap it in) and taking it off (ie: bend the corners out, not just pull on the side of the case), you should have no issues.
Do keep in mind though, I've never had the scraping problem with my Ringke Slim either. I followed the same procedure with these cases as I did with the Ringke, and have had no issue. It was in fact much easier.

So I was looking around and it turns out there aren’t very many reviews for bumper cases for the Nexus 5. I ordered a Bright Red 32GB as a replacement for my old Black 32GB phone that suffered from a Dognado. I also wanted to give a few @slickwraps skins a shot, so a bumper case was my only option. Now I know why there aren’t very many reviews for bumper cases… Turns out the selections for bumper cases on the Nexus 5 are quite crap… There are maybe 2 or 3 different bumpers out there and that’s pretty much it. They are also a mixed bag in terms of opinion here on XDA and elsewhere. But I did stumble upon these “lucency” transparent bumper cases. They’re pretty much available for every smartphone out there, so I figured why not give it a shot. (Last pics are my finished product with the red bumper + red phone + black carbon fiber skin!)
Knowing my problem with never being able to order only 1 of anything, I ordered all of the colours except for purple, pink, and somehow I missed black… I have since ordered a black bumper, once I received them and realized I didn’t have it… so that one’s still a few weeks away. Anyway, let’s get on to business.
Price:Currently $2.88 USD

Materials and Build Quality:
I was a bit hesitant when I was ordering them because I thought they were made entirely of TPU. I figured that since clear TPU tends to yellow over time, that I might be stuck with yellowed bumper cases. I went for it anyway though. To my surprise, the clear portion is not TPU but flexible and bendable transparent polycarbonate. Basically it is a harder plastic casing, with only the coloured portions being TPU. The closest I can describe it would be similar to a Poetic Borderline case, but instead of different colours of shiny plastic, you have clear plastic instead. In this case though, I think the clear plastic is a bit thicker as when you place the phone on its back, the camera is raised off of the table; while other people have said the camera was still in contact with the table in the Poetic Borderline case.
That brings me to the second point here. With it being made of a harder plastic, the drop protection is a little bit less than TPU. While I think it should be fine with a drop of maybe 1 or 2 feet, that would probably be the max though. Any higher, and the shock from the impact probably wouldn’t dissipate well and go right through the phone instead of being absorbed/dispersed/repelled like a normal TPU case would. This case should be able to protect from a light drop, but don’t expect the phone to survive a fall on the edges from higher than a couple of feet. Still, the drop protection and TPU lining on the front and back are perfect for my needs, and much better protection than the phone being naked of course.
The case seems to be built well and doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy. The TPU and clear plastic are molded together very well and don’t look like they will peel apart, tear, or snap. So the build quality of the bumper I think is actually quite strong and sturdy; pretty good for the price.

Fit and Finish:
There are pros and cons when it comes to the fit and finish of these bumper cases. So I’m going to break in into those 2 sections:
Pros:
Snug Fit: The case fits on perfectly. It is not loose in the case, doesn’t wiggle around at all, and feels sturdy and solid once it’s attached. There is no way that the case will be coming off of the phone unless you take it off yourself. There is also enough give on the sides so that it isn’t super tight, just snug.
Transparency and Contrast: This is personal preference of course, but I love the fact that the framing is clear and you can still see the back and sides of the phone through the case. I also like how it is just the bordering and buttons that are made of coloured TPU, so the lay on the table (face down) and raised back protection (for the camera) are both there. And the contrast between the clear + coloured TPU + phone make a very nice look.
TPU Protective Lining: I just mentioned this above, but it does serve additional purposes. Other than providing the lip for the front of the screen and back as well, it also serves to protect the clear plastic from making any contact with the surface you are placing your phone on. This protects the clear portion of the case from getting scratched up by dirt and debris on tables etc.
Also, the TPU lining protects the phone from getting scratched by the edges of the clear plastic. On the back of the phone, where the clear portion ends, the TPU acts as a cover over the rough edge of the clear plastic to protect the back of the phone from getting scratched by the case. On the front, the lip is entirely TPU, so the hooked edge holding the case on the phone is TPU and not hard plastic.
That brings me to the next point.
No Scratching: You might think with it being a mix of harder plastic and TPU that it may scratch the phone, but it won’t. All of the parts that hold the phone in the case are made of TPU. So it will pop in and out, and the only thing “rubbing” against the phone (corners/sides/etc.) when you put it on or take it off, will be TPU material.
Tactile Buttons: This is a concern that a lot of people have when they buy cases; is there still going to be feedback when the case covers the buttons. I am happy to say that yes, the buttons still have good tactile feedback when you press them. Using TPU over the buttons was a good idea, and the snug fit of the case means the TPU sits firmly over the buttons. Basically when you click, you feel it click.
Cons:
TPU isn’t neatly done in some areas: This is nitpicking a little bit, but there are some parts of the case where the TPU material doesn’t look as nicely finished. What I mean is there are a few bits of extra TPU material here and there, and a few bits remain from the moulding process. I guess it can be a bit difficult to melt TPU onto clear plastic and keep it super tidy…
Small headphone cutout: It is basically just enough to fit your standard jack from a set of earbuds, but don’t expect it to fit anything larger. It’s a relatively small opening. They basically made it "just enough" but nothing more.
Smallish USB cutout: The cutout is actually big enough to fit every microUSB cable I have, but the TPU lip over the bottom front of the phone gets in the way. It’s not really a problem as you can just lift the TPU up and plug in the cable, but it is a bit of an annoyance.
Colours: This isn’t really much of a big deal, but it is something to note. The dark blue isn’t really a dark blue (even though the pictures show it that way). It is more of a mix of purple and blue. The orange as well isn’t really orange; it’s more of a "peach" orange colour. Some people may like the colours that way, but for me I would rather have a real dark blue, and a real orange…

Pictures:
Anyway, on to the pictures! Since I have the majority of the colours, I might as well show pictures of all of them on the phone. These were mostly done on my Black Nexus 5, but I think they would still look pretty good on the white one as well. My Red Nexus 5 I think will be limited to only Black, White, and Red as the rest of the colors sort of clash.
** NOTE: The macro pictures really do a good job of highlighting DUST between the cases and the phone. You don’t see it at all to the naked eye.**
Green:
Dark Blue:
**Note: This colour looks dark blue in pictures, but is actually more of a purple blue.**
White:
**Note: You can see with the white case what I was mentioning earlier about some of the TPU not being neatly done in some areas.**
Orange:
**Note: While the pictures don’t really show it, this case has more of a peach colour than all out orange. It is orange, but “peachy” orange… **
Light Blue:
Red:

Conclusions:
I’ll keep it simple. I like them! They’re sturdy and fit well. And being clear really highlights the contrast between the phone and the TPU lining. :good:

That's the thing about black though, it pretty much goes with anything. So it's kind of too easy! It's like you're cheating. Just be creative, try putting on some different types of skins for the sides and back. It can completely change the look of your phone.
I chose the red Nexus 5 as a replacement, because I knew I was going to be putting skins on the phone and wanted the letters to be red. I didn't actually choose it because I wanted a red phone, but the contrast the red letters make through different skins is a really nice look.
Also, if you want to give the link to the website you use for the cases, I can add it to the OP.

No, they didn't let me change colour. I bought a new one. I have both a black and a red Nexus 5. My dog broke the screen on my black one (that's why I don't show the front of it), instead of sending it in to get the screen fixed,I ordered a red one as a replacement. It would have cost over $200 anyway with shipping+tax, and not having a phone for several weeks wasn't an option for me. I wanted red NEXUS lettering when I put a skin on it.

Just picked up the white and black ones. I have the alligator leather wrap on my phone, so hopefully these cases will make it look even better. It will be nice to have a little added protection, but keep the sleek look of the wrap.
I really like the way the white and orange one looks. These are pretty cool. But I've already got a "light" case - the Ringke Fusion. I'm not sure when I'd use something like this over the fusion - especially when the fusion has the cool back plates.
But either way, these are fantastic looking.
Great post, thanks for the pics!

I think they'll look good on your phone with the wrap. That's pretty much the reason I got these ones. I wanted to show the skin without adding too much bulk. It also helps that the bumper is mostly clear! A little bit of extra protection while staying for the most part, out of the way.

Yeah, they contrast really well with the black Nexus 5. They suit my needs quite well, generally minimalism. I'm not really into full cases. And with my hands usually moist a lot of the time, a clear backed case would be covered in fingerprints and smudges instantly. For me at least, you won't really notice the fingerprints on a bumper as much.
Also, I can use my magnetic car dock and still attach it right to the back of the phone without the need for a case + metal plate! :good:
Oh true, but despite the look, I still do want a little more protection. I've got a Trident case on the way that I'll use whenever I'm heading to work or just feel that I'll be clumsy that day, but I love rocking the thin case whenever I'm off. Using it in your car, as you've said, is totally a bonus worth looking over, though. Hmm..
Well, I'll pick up a few soon and I'll mess around with them. I know I'm going to be picking up a slickwrap lens skin soon, so maybe I'll get one of these to go along with it.

Yeah, being bumpers these won't provide lots of protection, just a few bumps on the edges and maybe a light drop. They'll never match a real case. I'm coming from Quicksand hardcases though, in terms of drop protection (where most times it's a corner or edge) these things are like tanks in comparison!
These bumpers are pretty cheap as well. So it's easy to just buy a couple and play around with them. If you don't really like them, they didn't exactly break the bank.
The magnetic car dock thing was kind of a bonus; I didn't realize it at first. Using the quicksand cases, there's a small round metal plate you put in between the case and the phone, then it attaches to the mount no problem. With the bumper and skin, the car dock just locks on to the metal plates meant for the Qi charger in the back of the phone. Super convenient. I just got in my car and thought crap... but I just stuck it against the phone and it worked perfectly.
This is the CD slot car mount I have: http://www.amazon.com/InfiniApps-Smartphones-Cradle-less-Quick-snap-technology/dp/B00DPMNNUO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1395707885&sr=8-1&keywords=infiniapps. There's actually a generic one on Amazon that is pretty much the exact same thing for $15.99.

Hm. I'll definitely have to look into that, as well. I have a carmount already - it's a home made one that functions as both a wireless charger and car mount, but I have to take my case off to use it. (I made the catch a smidge too small.) I actually use it in my home office (because it can swivel and I can have it standing and facing me next to my computer.) However, I think that it'll actually fit with one of these cases. Now I definitely want to pick one of these up. Thanks for both of the links. I might get a car mount to actually use in my car.

Oh nice. I'm not that handy when it comes to making stuff! I can put a skin on my phone pretty damn perfectly, but I think that's the extent of my skills.
I can't really use wireless charging in the car though. I use navigation and stream music pretty heavily and wireless charging won't provide enough current to charge it simultaneously while doing that. Also, the phone get's hot enough just using navigation + streaming music; if I added in wireless charging I'm pretty sure my phone would melt into a puddle.

It gets REALLY hot whenever I charge and do a conference/video call, so yeah, I wouldn't try it. It's not that big of a deal, either - it was really just adding clamps onto the side of a flat QI charger I had lying around so it would hold the phone (because I'm too picky and didn't trust the magnet.) I'll eventually post pictures next time I'm at my home office. But it's relatively simple in comparison to these fancy ones.
I do have a question regarding these cases, though. I know you mentioned that the case doesn't "feel" cheap - just how bendy is it? If I leave it around, will my wife's 1 year old niece bend it beyond repair?
