Just a question regarding upgrading from a one ROM to another ROM, can we like preserve the applications that we had install in our phone so that we don't have to reinstall them again? Or we have to reinstall everything? What about paid applications does market automatically knows that you've purchase the app already? Thanks...

You can use an app called Titanium Backup to save copies of your applications and their settings. Then restore them back again on the new ROM. Usually the apps restore automatically anyway once you enter your google account details onto the phone, it will download all the apps you had installed previously. If you do it this way all your settings will be lost though.
And yes, market will remeber what apps you purchased.
Thanks for the quick response.. Much appreciated...

I was using the Titanium Backup to restore the apps after installing a new ROM, but it ask permission to install every app (I have about 100 apps).
Do someone know an easy and free way to restore a lot of apps after installing a new ROM?

Look for ic_backup and ic_restore here on XDA. These are flashable zips from recovery. Sorry, cannot upload them atm.

Many thanks!!!
After a little bit of googling I found the ic_backup and ic_restore:

It will be very easy to install a new ROM now
The paid version of Titanium allows batch restore. It will also restore to previous app location (int or sd) if that box is checked.

I am doing full wipe almost every week because of new developments on Sandvold´s ICS. Is it possible to quickly reinstall all apps and widgets after a full wipe? How?
Titanium backup from market or my backup root what i use because u can just save the app without all the data. Just backup all apps then put the backup file on ur computer, then once u have flashed rom update just download the app again off market then send ur backup file back to ur phone(usb) then using the app to restore apps

For me (using BCM ICS) it works great with the google backup. Just choose to backup settings like apps, Wifi passwords etc via Google. When I enter my google password the first time using the new rom, it asks if it should restore my settings. It then downloads all of my apps directly from the play store. However for most apps it doesn't include your app data, but that's OK for me.

App data? You don't have to restore it. It asks you if you want to.

I have installed Titanium (free version), and it says:
(...)
Hypershell (fast): NO (only for donators)
Apps installation fast/auto: No (Hypershell required)
(...)
I guess Titanium only does the full backup, with fast apps installation if I donate, right?

The free version of Titanium also restores all your apps with data but you have to confirm each app to be restored. This can be somewhat annoying if you have lots of apps to restore.

But I cant find "Google Backup" on play store. What is the name of the app?
PS: Ive already installed Titanium, but I also wanted to know about "Google Backup"
It's not on Play store. It is found under settings in aosp and >= Sense 2.1 roms. It remembers apps list and starts downloading them after you flash a new rom. I hate this feature.

Right, it's nothing you need to install. It should be at Settings -> Backup & reset -> "Back up my data".
It can be a bit annoying, especially if your device immediately starts to download tons of data before connecting to wifi, eating up your mobile data limit. (However this backup includes wifi passwords, too). So if you don't have unlimited data, just ensure your device connects to wifi after restoring your google account.
Re:
From what my friend told it should work with the Play Store.
it doesn't seem to be possible with all roms though? Only once my past apps have installed automatically...
How do I backup my paid apps downloaded from Google Play and then restore them when I do factory data reset?
And my phone is not rooted.
Ty
Do you want to restore data too or just the apps

All your apps should be saved on your google account......
Usually Google play already save all your downloaded apps (paid/free) in your My Apps section (in PlayStore press Menu->My Apps). Another option is to get AppBak from Google play & use it to backup/restore ur apps

just the apps since I've already used kies to backup the data, but maybe you know some program better than kies, if I'm right?

Really? Even those games that have game save?
Well I'm not sure it saves the app data too as AppBak only create a txt file with all the apps you have & their download link (from which it restores them).
If you want the data too then you should try Titanium Backup,I read it saves app data too,but its a lil complicated to use,u might want to check out tutorials for it
