Hey guys,
My screen just stopped rotating out of the blue and I have no idea why... No physical damage to the phone... Any ideas why it would stop? I was in PA 1.9, then I went back to stock, issue persisted, now I'm not sure what else to try... Could my Gyroscope just get busted like that? Can I re calibrate somehow? Thanks for any ideas/tips guys.
Well then lol still haven't figured this out, guessing it's hardware as I tried multiple software tests which gave no readings at all.
return it, simple
Try a game like temple run. if it works, then there's something wrong with how your rom. If it doesn't well.. your gyro is busted?
I have noticed that my Gyro and Compass are Not Responding to movement of the phone, and I am wondering if its a driver issue or a hardware one. Can any of you boffins give me some advice on how I may resolve this please ?

Download "Z-Device Test" from the play store, there you can find out if it's hardware related or not. I also would like to know what Rom/Kernel/Recovery combination you have, or is everything stock?
Well, I'll be honest and admit that I never ever seen a compass in my note 2, though I'm sure I seen it in the original note. If anyone could point me to it, I'd appreciate it. I did look in apps but not there.

Thanks for the reply. I have downloaded it, and it would suggest that the sensor IS working ok, but the phone is not recognising it for some reason. Would the kernel be a reason ? This is driving me nuts...

Hmm, are you on stock Rom? If so you can calibrate gsensor under settings - display (i think)...
Or you can try this if you are rooted
Or get this app and if I'm not mistaken it lets you calibrate the g-sensor.
Hope this helps
Hi guys. I need your assistance and not sure what went wrong. I have a note II with 4.4.2 update. lately I have noticed that the phone does not rotate when I put it in landscape mode. So I searched the internet and realized that the problem is with the the gyroscope. I then tried to test the gyro by going to *#0*# and then test the gyro. When I do so, I get Gyro test fail do not move & Re-Test. Does that mean that the gyro is dead or not. I tried formatting 2 times but no go. Can anyone help or advise

Oh WOW, not sure if It is because of my question or no one has any response
same problem here
please help
if you tried to calibrate the gyro and it still doesn't work, then you have to replace chip on motherboard GYRO
my device is LG-G3-D855.
after upgrading the software to android 5.0 from LG PC Suit, and after a day passed, I noticed that my auto-rotation is not working, and the proximity sensor is not responding during a call and the screen remains active.
I tested the sensors through hidden menu and saw that they are actually working and they are not stocked.
what is the solution? is it a software problem?
I also did downgrade the OS to the stock one and the problem still remains.
I'm sorry I am not able to help, but I am able to tell you I came to the forums today to post the exact same issue.
I had been using Liquid and CM12 for a while and my proximity sensors and brightness sensors (as well as screen turning off when I bring phone to my ear) were not working. I simply assumed it was an AOSP problem.
I just recently flashed the new stock lollipop rom that's on the development forum and I am having the same problem still. I do not know how to fix it and I'm hoping someone out there can help us!
edit: everytime I try to recalibrate the proximity sensor in settings, settings 'unexpectantly closes'

Have you had any luck on finding a solution to this? I've been in the same boat for a couple months now.

Dang, same thing on my end. I've tried several different Roms/Kernels and still nothing. If I find a solution, I'll be sure to let you know!
Bump
Im having this issue as well. Anyone?
I've just resolved the same issue. No matter ROM I flashed to my LG G3 all the sensors were gone. The only thing it fixed that was flashing TOT using lg flash. More details on : htt ps: //forum.xda-developers. com/showthread .php?t= 2785089
ADD: The updated method worked for me NOT the original one.
Fingers crossed.

hi, i use the htc one m9 (dev eddition), i reside in india and had shipped this phone from the us.
my g-sensor(gyroscope) has an issue, it does not work anymore, it worked for the first few days but then it just stopped, nothing triggered it , it happened all of a sudden, ive tried several factory resets, wiping my cache from recovery and recaliberating the g sensor in both normal and safe mode( what i noticed here is that only the up/down moment is detected by the virtual spiritlevel, but not the left /right), but nothing worked for me. please let me know what to do to get my g-sensor working back again.
(is there a way i dont have to ship the phone to the us for repairs?)(htc one m9 not launching in india.)(i spoke to coustomer care , they didnt have the info for m9)
thanks in advance

I had this exact thing happen to my first M9. Worked for a few days, then quit working for no reason.
Sorry to say, it's a hardware issue and will require repairing or replacing.

Yes, I'm in the US. I got my M9 from Verizon and since I was within my 14 day return period, I simply took it in to the Verizon store where I bought it, showed them the problem, and they replaced it for free on the spot.

i got the solution, this is crazy but works...
go to help app(the one htc pre-installed on ur phone)
then go to hardware misbehaving?
hardware diagnostics
G-sensor test.
test it once , or twice. let it say failed.
next from that screen tap on calibrate g sensors
do the calibration on a flat surface
go back and do the test. this time it will say it worked.
and acctually, it did work, my autorotate , riptide, dot-breaker, everything based on gyroscope sensor is now working fine !!
