[Q] Don't get picture messages from only ONE contact - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Me and my friend both have unlocked Galaxy Nexus phones. He is on T-Mobile and I am on AT&T. I can receive picture messages from anybody and everybody else in my entire contact list but when he sends me a picture I'm only getting blank messages. We can receive each others texts just fine and he can receive my picture just fine as well but not vice versa. It's a bit annoying and I dont like using 3rd party apps like Voxer or LiveProfile to send and receive pix cuz those apps suck lol I'm not sure if it's a carrier problem and I can't really test it because I don't know anybody else who has T-mobile. My question is: "WTF?" lol

Just have him email them..

Thought of that. That's just as much hassle as using Voxer or LiveProfile.

I can't figure out group texting.

So... before I got my Nexus, I could send and receive group messages almost like an MMS to a group of friends and have a chat.
Now if I send a group text it sends it individually and if someone starts a chat I receive it like I'm the only one.
I tried Go SMS with the same results. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Cant be done mate, so annoying!
Can be done with Go Sms though buddy so I dont know what your doing wrong there..
Yeah. Group SMS sends the message as individual messages to each person. Same with GO SMS and Handcent

Umm. My Galaxy Nexus, (CDMA) does group texting. I actually don't like group texting that much.

Send contact info from within SMS

Is anyone else annoyed that you can't send a contact from the stock SMS app? I love the standard SMS but yet have to have a third party SMS app installed just for this purpose. From the stock SMS you can attach a few things but not a contact. And even from the phone app you can send but through email...not SMS.
Nothing major...just felt like griping about something I guess.
On a side note android keeps getting better and better. I don't see myself even going back to a non nexus phone!

I totally agree it's silly this is not factory android option. I can tell this is a general complaint and you weren't really looking for an app, but check this out:
share contracts via sms
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=shareContacts.NS.com
it's not really an "app" it just adds the menu option to share contracts thru messaging app. you still use stock messaging. I have used this since froyo days. it's super lightweight, you'll hardly notice it's even there...

Yup, I've been shocked time and time again that it hasn't already been added since I first started using Android with Froyo.
Which is weird if you've been using dumbphones for the last 15 years I think most of them could do this.

Why can't I send long message!

It should split when you send mine does. Try a third party sms like gosms or chomp sms.

Sprint is CDMA network and has trouble with more than 160 characters. If you're on a custom rom, like AOKP or CM, there generally is an option in sms settings to auto-split.

I use Sprint's stock messaging app and have no trouble sending messages longer than 160 characters, and they split properly on the other end. Do you get an error message or anything when you hit 160? Mine counts down characters to 0/160 and then continues on with 160/160, 159/160, etc.

^^^ This. I also use stock messaging app and never had any issues. I also use the auto-combination feature and when people send me messages longer than 160 characters it combines them back into one message. It says it only work from Galaxy to Galaxy phones but that's a lie. My sister has the EVO LTE and when she sends me long messages they come in one whole text.

I'm running MC2 4.1.2 stock rooted and have auto-combination checked, but messages still come in split, at least from my son's AT&T iPhone. Is there anything else that should be set to get it working, or is it an iPhone thing?

Maybe it's because she's with a different carrier. Another cool thing is that my sisters EVO is also combining long messages too by default. However you still see the 1/2 - 2/2 on her EVO unlike our Galaxy which does a better job.
Edit: Nope it don't work from ATT iPhones. I just received my cousins text in two..

Mighty Text Problem

I love Mighty Text. Since switching to Note 3 Mighty text won't send MMS just SMS. If I try and send a photo through Mighty Text even one it previously sent through S4 it won't send just says "waiting for phone to send message".
Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks

There is a lot of chatter about 3rd party app that are not working correctly when sending picture MMS. I have not seen a solution yet. It may be because our phones are so new and the third party apps have not caught up. I have emailed Handcent, my favourite text app and have not heard back yet.
So I don't know if this will solve your problem. It may be a learning experience.
There is an app on Play Store called Tweakker. I will help build your APN by Carrier. At the end you will see the APN it set up and your default. You can compare the two. Select the one you want to use. I stayed with default after trying other options. Again I think this is a third party problem.
Here are some screen shots of Tweakker

I tried to install tweakker, but every time I run it, the app quits by itself... Any solution to this? I tried installing Handcent and making that the default for MMS, that did not help either.

[Q] Send MMS

How do you send MMS? What app are people using to send picture files to people? There is no default app for that. I'm using hangouts but not everyone is on that. Google voice won't let you send pictures.
I was hoping you'd get more than I can offer. I use Mighty Text on both my N7 and PC when not using a hangouts. MT must be set up on your phone. It's not a perfect app but you can send pictures and videos.
