[Q] HTC Wildfire S (Under Virgin Mobile) - HTC Wildfire S

Just wondering if anyone has "Successfully" rooted HTC Wildfire S (Virgin Mobile).
I cannot even get HTC Sync to work, only shows "Device not connected" message.
What is "S-Off" & "S-On" sounds like something from the old Karate Kid movie, wax on, wax off. Please explain don't just paste that up there. I have tried all those tools but nothing seems to touch this phone under Virgin Mobile. It's even hard to get the PC to acknowledge the phone when connected via USB. I see other post on this phone but not working on HTC Wildfire S (Virgin Mobile) folks!
Also seen other post that they have rooted this phone, well "How?" please post that!

S-OFF: The ability to flash ROMs, Radios, HBOOT, misc partition, custom splash screens, and Recoveries.
S-ON: The ability to do none of the above cool stuff with your phone.
Unlocked Bootloader: The ability to flash ONLY customs ROMs and Recoveries
To root, unlock your bootloader or S-OFF (see section about achieving S-OFF). Next flash a bootloader (several can be found around these fora.) Finally, get SuperOneClick or a like tool like. Follow the section about rooting in my tutorial.

[Q] I Need Urgent Help (HTC Wildfire S)

I’m having trouble rooting the HTC Wildfire S it is a marvelc cdma phone from Metro PCS (USA service). I first used a method from YouTube, the video is called called HTC Wildfire S - Unlocking Boot loader and I did this like the 2nd day I had my Wildfire S and the first time I had an HTC so I had no idea about HTC DEV at the time, but anyway I did this method and I followed all the steps until the end when the program tells you to press any button to reboot, what I did was unplugged the phone, but I noticed I was not rooted, so I went to the boot loader and noticed it says *** LOCKED (OOW) *** at the top and it also says S-OFF ,so I tried almost all the root methods, and tried to use HTC DEV, and HTC DEV just tells me that it’s the wrong RUU program so I don’t know guys please help me. All I want to do is temp root, to remove bloatware, please help me. Thanks!

You don't need an ruu anymore. Just go through the unlocking process. Or go here for a noob friendly version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432199 and remember to thank theq86 for the nice tutorial.
To root after unlocking, just flash this zip at http://fs05n5.sendspace.com/dl/744efe1caa39712991ebfcb9bca78aa9/4f52b43f7cad3402/2l50jw/root.zip and u will be rooted

Wtf am I doing wrong here... Coming from Gnex

Hello fellow One-X'ers, I am coming from a long line of Samsung devices and have only had one HTC phone in the past, (HD2).
I cant for life of me figure out how to root this phone, I have tried the conventional method, alternate root method, im getting nothing... Bootloader will not unlock through htcdev (which it says to do in half of the root how-tos), i always see error 160 invalid MID...
I have installed and updated the following:
-Java
-HTC Mobile drivers as well as sync
-SDK
-Fastboot
wtf am I missing here? I just want to get a new rom as this sense stuff absolutely sucks. Yes I have searched, yes I have read...
What phone have you got? If I remember correctly the "Error 160" / "invalid MID" responses are returned when you try and use HTCDev to unlock the AT&T One X (actually the One XL) which doesn't support unlocking the bootloader in that way.
Boot into the bootloader and check the model name displayed at the top of the screen: if it says "evita" then that's your problem, and you'll need to head over to the forums for your particular device to get some help because none of the stuff in this section will work - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
If the bootloader shows "endeavoru" then you are in the right place, but in that case I don't know what the problem is.
Uninstall HTC sync, keep the USB drivers mind.

[Q] Root S-On Error 130

I was trying to root my WFS (S-On method with HTC unlocked bootloader) except I keep getting an error '130 Model ID' when running the correct RUU for my phone and can't figure out why.
HTC-A510a (Marvel)
S-On
Virgin Mobile (Canada)
2.3.3 (Andriod)
2.1 HTC Sense
Software Number: 1.36.666.5
- Yes, I have downloaded it multiple times to check if the file was corrupt
- Yes, all the pre-requisites are installed (JDK, Andriod SDK, HTC drivers etc)
- Yes, USB debugging is on
- No, there isn't a WWE RUU for Virgin Mobile that I can see
I would prefer to keep s-on if possible because (theoretically less to go wrong) although I am not a complete noob, I am close to it and this is my only phone.
Do I have to go back to the (old?) gold-card method, is there another way, or am I just missing something?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry if if I wasnt clear. No, my bootloader is not unlocked - that is what I am in the process of doing. When I follow the instructions for that provided by HTC/S-On Unlock Tutorial, the RUU that they provide will not unlock my bootloader and produces the error '130 Model ID Error' and then restarts my phone. The problem is that is the correct RUU doesnt work and as far as I can tell, it is the only one provided by HTC that works for a WFS and Virgin Mobile (Canada).
I understand that you can use other RUU's (sometimes) to unlock your bootloader, but that could cause some issues with my radio, yes? As I said before, it is my only phone and unlike ROMS if I messed something up with a radio, I wouldn't know where to start troubleshooting.

I guess vedang81 is taking a break or something. Either way what he suggested (skipping flashing the RUU) didn't work. When I entered the cmd commands it gave me "[ERR]Command error!!!". Vedang81 thought that this meant I didn't have the files or they weren't in the right place, however I double checked everything (all files were downloaded from HTC Dev links and were in the correct folders). Several other threads (on other devices) seemed to indicate that that error was what happened when you didn't flash the RUU and therefore didn't have the updated hboot. I also looked at simonsimon34's HTC Wildfire SUtility but that says it requires your bootloader to say **locked** to begin with and mine doesn't.
Not sure where to go from here...
Bump...

If your bootloader doesn't say **locked**, then it's already unlocked.

[Q] Last hope for an HTC one x rooting noob :)

Hello everyone,
I have used you guys in the past for other devices but never needed serious help, so here I am stuck in a looping hell
I have an HTC One X that I am trying to root and install the TWRP (I want to have an android that is factory set without the carrier info and bloatware ect)
The utility I am using is the HTC One X (Tegra 3/International) AIO Kit By Hasoon2000 v2.5. Here is my main issue:
I have successfully navigated all the steps to root the phone (Steps 1-5) and now when I boot into the bootloader I see the following,
***TAMPERED***
*** UNLOCKED ***
evita pvt ship s-on rl
hboot-2.14.0000
radio-0.23a.32.09.29
opendsp-v31.1.0.45.0815
emmc-boot
nov 26 2012,18:37:14:-1
Now from here it was my understanding that under "next, flash a recovery" I would simply pick "TWRP" and then click "flash recovery". This seems to work as the green bar in the top right loads briefly. After that I am at a loss. If I go to "bootloader" then go to "recovery" like the instructions say the phone just restarts and I see the Rogers splash screen again...
If it helps, when I try to flash the recovery using the "clockwordmod" it gives me an error "cannot load recoveries/cwm.img"
So to make this easier all I want is my phone to have nothing to do with the carrier on it, all traces of that wiped off at the single file level if possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have been at this for almost 6 hours straight
Your phone is not HTC One X International (endeavoru). DON'T flash anything from here or you will brick your phone. You have One X "evita". There is a specific forum at xda for your phone.

[Q] HTC One ADB issues. Tried everything I know...

Hey all, long time lurker of the forum but finally at my wits end with the issues; hoped I could ask for some directions.
I have the HTC One in the UK as an EE variant. I've unlocked and rooted my phone and wanted to s-off the phone.
However, I have put android revolution 41.0 on the phone with hboot 1.55 and cant get it working.
I have tried using adb and it only seems to work when I am in the bootloader. As soon as I turn the phone on, leaving it on the homescreen after removing the lock screen, turning off fastboot on the phone and turning on usb debugging adb can't find my device and I can't get past Rumrunner as it gets an error saying " run rumrunner again and READ (no adb connection to device. Debugging on? Drivers?"
I have checked the drivers are installed, ran htc sync to install them and then uninstalled it. Debugging obviously on but the adb seems to be the issue.
I had read I should return to a stock Rom and try again but simple can't find the right one. I use 4g usually but now stuck with US Rom which doesn't let me connect to lte or 4g.
If someone could advise me on which Rom (preferably 4g UK rom) I should use I'd be grateful.
Try the HTC one forum...this is for Verizon.
