Nandroid backup md5 mismatch - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I made this backup of cm7 to install lewa, I renamed the backup using Rom manager itself . When I wanted to restore, it told me MD5 MISMATCH. I opened the backup folder, I couldn't find the cache image and the MD5 file !!! There's only the images of system, data, android_secure and boot image.
I have some important data in this backup and I really need it. Any suggestions ?
PS: I have the android kitchen if that makes any difference

What if I want to restore the whole thing ?
Is there anyway that I can regenerate the md5 sum?

You can try to fix the MD5 mismatch error using this procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714114
Or, as an alternative, you can simply use Fastboot to flash all the Nandroid Backup IMG files. fastboot flash system system.img, fastboot flash data data.img and so on.

What did you use to back the apps up?
App backup & restore

You have to use the app to restore your backed up apps. Not flash them...
I used the app to backup my apps than I took those backed up apps and put them inside a. Zip folder or a rom like cyanogenmod inside the system-apps after that I put the zip file on my sdcard and rebbot to recovery when I try to flash it says error

Whatever app you used to back them up with is what you use to resore them. As far as installing things via recovery, you can't just throw a bunch of apps into a zip file, you need to script things accordingly as well. If you're wanting to go that route, for whatever reason, look into how to create an update.zip

[Q] Data recovery file TOO large.

Hi guys,
So I'm a noob so don't stab me or anything. But I have just rooted/flashed my s3 with frosty jb. I did make a backup of the stock rom. However, when I did the back up I had a HUGE cache from google music, like 1.5 gb. So when I tried to get my data restored it kept failing. I have sifted through some other threads that direct people to unzip the data.tar and then remove some files and rezip it. And I did do this and deleted all of the music cache. Even after I rezipped it, put it back in the backup directory, and redid the whole md5sum it still doesn't work and says failed to restore data. :crying:
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Try Mobile Odin.
Search it here on xda for a free version and instructions, or get pro on app store.
I highly reccomend pro.

Does that mean I can use the original 2.4gb data file?
Use a cache cleaning app before backing up. Like App Cache Cleaner (has a free version), or SD Maid.
Actually, Im not sure it will work, but could be worth a shot. With mobile odin it doesn't have to be zipped. Just point to the .img file.
This is a nandroid backup I'm assumin so you will have to restore it using the same recovery as before. Cwm won't restore twrp backups and vice versa. Usually the recovery version won't matter, but if your having problems try restoring with the exact same version you made it with.
When you stripped it down, did you rmtry it without adding the md5 back? Again not sure if it'll work but you could try....

Ok so I did make a nandroid backup using CWM. After I got rid of the files that I didn't need I deleted the md5 and reassigned it using the whole android terminal commands. But now it doesn't fail once it reaches 2gb in the restore process. It just fails to start /data restore.
Try renaming it to data.img and flash in mobile odin (you can find with a quick search)
Or archive it into a .tar and try regular odin. Never tried this so don't know if it'll work or cause issues. It will trip your flash counter with the pc odin method.

Update recovery. And make sure you aren't using any spaces in the filename.

System.IMG download

Hi I need to reflash my system partition as my current one looks to be damaged but I can not find one to download. My phone has been updated passed the last ruu so can not do it that way but I have been able to extract the ROM.zip from the last ruu avalibal. But I can not uncompress the zip it always reports corrupted. Does anyone know where I can download a system.IMG I can flash with fastboot so I can then flash a custom ROM on to it. Thanks in advance.

Why would you want to do that if you want to flash a new rom ?
Mount the sdcard in recovery and copy the new rom to it.
Flash the boot.img from the new rom, make a full wipe in the custom recovery and install the new rom !

The issue is all ROMs fail to copy all the files as the system partition looks to be damaged. I have been advised to flash the system.IMG to sort it out.

Get a nand backup in the general section. Look for the stock nandroid collection thread.

Hi, I have tried this as well already but still fails to copy all the files to system.

What happends when you format the system partition in the custom recovery ?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Formating does wipe it but when the ROM tries to copy it just stop copying the files part way thought.

Don't know what to do then. Sorry

you mean copying while installation or from pc to sdcard? if while installation try to flash the stock recovery for your main-version and use the factory reset in bootloader...sometimes it seem to help...if that really doesnt help try another custom recovery and try again flashing a rom...but this time without formatting system and just flashing rom with full wipe ...but like i said without formatting system...if THAT doesnt work...then your device seems to have partition ´problems and only htc could solve it...had similiar issues ...phone went to repair center and what now? ...all except of screen was changed haha even i soldered wifi and they changed...so if nothing works reflash stock recovery and stock boot.img and relock and sent it to them and write on a paper or so you tried to update the phone via official ota but now phones doesn't work anymore...or so don't know
or try to transfer the rom again to sdcard could be a problem with it
And keep it there the next time

You are covering your system error there already !!!

TWRP BIGG radio not working after restore

I tried restoring a backup of Stock Debloated ROM and the radio didn't work. I tried restoring a previous backup in case it was just an issue with that backup and it was the same. Is this an issue with TWRP BIGG or did I do something wrong? I did a full wipe before restoring.

Are you flash the boot.img from the backup? If not then flash it
No I didn't, is that what needs to be done when restoring a nandroid backup?

yes offcorse, like evry rom you flash you flash the boot.img then the backup is rom and you must to flash the boot.img from the backup:silly:
Fair do's. The ROM booted fine though - all good except for the radio. Would've thought it wouldn't boot if it needed boot.img flashing. Or does a backup restore ok but with issues if the boot image isn't flashed?
In my case I'd tried Unboxed ROM & so had flashed boot.img for that ROM. Could it be that that was still in place & is why it was able to boot but with issues? Does a full wipe leave that in place?
Also, can boot.emmc.win from a TWRP backup be flashed via fastboot as it is or does it need to be renamed to boot.img?

yes you must to flash boot.emmc.win via fastboot.
No not in any case. Somtime you can flash the rom without boot.img and the rom will boot but with issue somtime just stuck on boot logo and stay there forever
