[Q] Dead Pixel? :( - HTC One X

I was watching an episode of Game of Thrones in the mxvideo player and noticed a tiny green dot on black backgrounds. It only shows up or is visible on black backgrounds. My question is if the pixel is dead or stuck and can it be fixed? I tried using "Dead Pixel Fixer" app from the play store for about 2 hours but that didn't work.
I just love this screen btw! Its a shame one pixel can mind-fu** me.

Sounds like a stuck pixel.....
Dead pixels can be seen on white backgrounds, and stuck pixels vary in colour..
Stuck pixels are random, they can be fixed using apps or they will just go after time -.-
I have one stuck pixel which i noticed from day one but with such a hi res display its hardly noticeable unless your looking for it although it did bug me for the first few days =/

I used the Dead Pixel Test app from the market and I found two stuck pixels in the dark grey colors. I became so OCD that I began rubbing the pixels and then after 5 minutes of pushing down and rubbing each stuck pixel they disappeared forever. Not guaranteed to work on all phones, but then the stuck pixels were only visible in the dark grey/black screens and not on any other colors.

Dead pixel !

Hi there. While I was looking at the beauty of my screen, I noticed this little dot. So I freaked out. I never noticed it before so it might be either a glitch or a recently made damage. Anyways I downloaded a dead pixel tester and I saw it in different colors but it is not there when I display the green color on my screen. So this might be a stuck sub pixel? It kinda changes its color when I change the colors of the screen. Anyway, I thought that maybe it was there all along but I never noticed it so I opened the camera and BAM it's noticeable! So what caused this? I'd there a fix? I would like to keep the phone replacement the last option because I ordered from handtec.co.UK and I live in Kuwait so I will wait a while
Thanks

It's not fixable. Exchange your phone if it bothers you enough

I think there are some apps you can try which can "unstick" a dead pixel. Other than that you'll need to get it replaced
There are two types, Stuck and Dead pixels. You can unstuck a Stuck pixel by rapidly forcing it to change colour (rare, but possible to fix). There is no way to fix a Dead pixel other than replacing the screen.
There is no such thing as a stuck pixel with a amoled display, only lcd mobile displays. (Since the pixels produce there own light and don't move a shutter to adjust the backlight.)
If it's bothering you just exchange it.

are you sure that is a bad pixel and is not a speck of dust?
poweroff the display, than point a powerful lamp on the phone and see if you see the speck. Personally I have a speck of dust that seems to be a bad pixel but it isn't a bad pixel.
Samsung build quality is really poor and dust may happen.

I have a stuck pixel on my Galaxy Nexus - the green subpixel was on full brightness. I ran a pixel fixer app that really helped - now it's at about half brightness.
Wow this is new to me I had no idea this could happen. Any ideas the reasons behind this and why it can happen?

You must have incredible eye sight if you can see a dead pixel on an 320dpi screen

Screen yellowish

Hello,
I have a HTC One X, and I realized recently that my screen (the entire screen) was yellowish. I compare it with the X One of my friends, their screens is white (so white that looks like being blue).
Why do my colors are, overall, yellow rather than white?
I've done the updates, I have the original theme, and brightness at maximum.
Do you have the same problem as me?
Should I bring him back in the store?
I suggest you have it replaced immediately.
The original unit that was given to me had that yellowish tint, I think its a screen burn? or a factory defect.
Had the shop replaced it immediately.
Your screen should not be yellow. It definitely looks like the yellow spot issue but in my experience they do not go away. definitely get it replaced or send it to HTC for repair if they can't replace it.
Is it yellowish/yellow spots or just a little warm in tone?
If it's the latter then you have the better of the 2 screens available as colours are more accurate and the screen is brighter. As you say, your friends phone is too blue.
It can be deceiving as the clock widget for instance is not a true white so can through you off.
Best way to evaluate is display a true white blank image and you should see that it looks white and not blue (cold) or yellow (warm). I use Dead Pixel Tester which has a variety of colours you can display
i own a yellowish and a whiteish one , and surprise surprise.... the yellowish is a lot better than the other
Mine is also very yellowish, compared to my wife's sensation or to an amoled display. The colors look very ok to until i compare side by side..
I do not think it is a defect...
Guys! Don't forget to set brightness to same level when comparing. I noticed my white screen actually looks more yellowish than the warmer screen when on lowest brightness settings. However, at a higher brightness it definitely has a whiter white and it seems brighter.
I got the yellow-dot-issue yesterday :'( I have had the phone since release day and now blah, damn it! will contact HTC tonight and tell you what they say

Which one of those is the yellowish one?

This is not a defect. HTC One X screens are manufactured by several sources. Some come with a blueish/whiteish tint, others with a yellowish tint. I have had both units. I prefer the blueish/whiteish tint, but both screens are very good.

I also have the Yellowish Screen, I solved this problem long ago when I had my SGS2 as the Super Amoled Plus had a greenish tent with Screen Adjuster, A great app from the market, Just increase the blue to 7 or 9 and all the yellowish tent will disappear.

It's been that way since the Sensation. One display is made by Acer (cool) and the other by Sharp (warm). The XL uses Sony displays exclusively for some reason.
Here's the two different displays on the Sensation...
Yup don't worry too much. Not a problem. Even iPhone 4S'es screens are manufactured by different suppliers. My screen is the cooler one, but both have their advantages. My dad's iPhone 4S has the warmer screen, but colours look more vibrant. My One X has the cool screen, which is less vibrant in terms of colour, but more accurate.

Please help!!

I've just updated to 4.04 and everything works fine, except for one blue dot that appears in upper left part of the screen, and it only appears in dark backrounds, what to do? Will it disapear? Would it expand? And should I replace the phone ??
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
A couple of dead pixels, perhaps? I have a similar case. No, it will not expand and I'm not sure if you can replace it for free.

Try to return it, but sometimes dead pixels are considered normal behavior for lcd screens.
Sent from my One X
how can it be normal, they are supposed to do the work? I don't know what to do,I mean it is visible, its size is 1x1mm,and only in black color,I guess its the black pixels that are dead, can anyone else tell me what to do??
its looks like really really fade blue dot on black background, what that is can anyone tell me,are those black pixels or something that can be repaired,it started after update on 4.04,maybe it was there before, maybe I didn't noticed it,what should I do??
Go for warranty, if its the lcd there isn't much to do about it. Or replace the digitizer & LCD. But that's a job i won't recommend !

would it expand,is it something crucially wrong with the LCD,it isn't pixels its like small round circle very fade blue that only appears in dark backgrounds, innoticeable in normal use....
No it probably won't expand, depends on the pixels itself, i think its bad luck. I had this problem with my tv. Sometimes you see it sometimes you don't, depends on the color that need to be displayed by the pixel.
Its like a 3 color base, 1 color breaks and on a different background you see a different color because it can't display the right color because the pixel needs that particular color to display it right .....if you get my point
How do i say this clear and basic.....mixing 2 colors will give a certain other color, now the pixel is dead it can't do that anymore, so on some colors of the screen you see a different color because the pixel can't produce that color anymore ....
Hope i say this right
more problems with screen, just noticed couple of dead pixels visible on black screen, there are maybe 10,tomorow it's off to the shop with phone...
Dead pixels aren't visible on black. Maybe you have stuck pixels.

my god how many pixels are they dead,hot,stuck... maybe it is what you are saying, then how do I resolve it,does it need to go to shop,or is there a quick fix,and the blue stain that I said,is visible in some angles, not in all,to be exact when I tilt the phone to the upper left corner...

Take it back to the shop, 10 white pixels on black is clearly unacceptable.
I got a brand new hox because of 1 stuck pixel on black backround. The phone was 7 days old.

A dead pixel is one that is always black
A stuck pixel will be one that has a colour stuck on.
There are industry standard for tolerances of dead/stuck pixels.
I believe screens used in phones and televisions are type 2 which means there has to be 4 damaged pixels in a 1inch area to be considered faulty.
Though in the UK at least you can usually get a direct exchange for anything in the first 14-28 days

Should I return this FHD nexus 7?

Hello
I found 3 blue big stuck pixels, 1 tiny white stuck pixel, and minor light bleeds with a significant but little leakage at the back button spot. All of these were found under dark room when displaying black. Unfortunately I got no camera good enough to shoot under the dark condition.
The tiny white stuck pixel is nearly invisible. About 2 to 3 pixels big.
Light bleed bothers me a bit but it is almost unrecognizable in a normal usage.
Blue stuck pixels are the weird ones (they too are invisible in normal usage). Even though they are relatively big, they can be only seen when displaying black. Cannot be seen in any other colors. What would these be?
Also I bought my nexus7 in the eBay. This means that I have to pay for shipping back if I want a refund. Also there is no guarantee that I am not getting a worse one.
Should I ask for an exchange or keep it?
Thanks

[Q] Dead/stuck pixel or what is this?

Hello, I have trouble with my Nexus 7 2013. I have got new device a few days ago and I found dead/stuck pixel at the bottom left corner of my screen. For me it looks like dead/stuck pixel, but after several tests I am not sure.
I can see it only at max brightness (at lowest or medium it is almost invisible) and ONLY at black color.
If I will turn a little bit my device it changes color for green, red (at least I think it looks like red or green) etc.
I did several tests with that app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.chris.blackspotdetect
And I cannot see that pixel in any of those colors built-in app, except on black color (it is clearly visible on black background).
My question is: is it dead or stuck or anything yet pixel?
Thanks for any help,
best regards

it could be a dead pixel, but my advice is to return and get it replaced while you can because later it may be half of your screen or worse!
And I will Thanks for pushing my mind forward, I was afraid of sending it for warranty, but I have no choice.
Isn't there a number of dead pixels there has to be before you can send it to warranty/exchange it?
